[Q] Touch issues on kindle fire hd with cm 11 - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I recently rooted and installed cm11 on a kindle fire hd (2012) and everything works fine except when the tab is plugged into the charger.
I'm currently using a samsung tab charger since I don't have the original charger for the kindle. I just would like to know if anyone else also experiencing the same issue or is there already a fix for this? I have tried reflashing but its still the same.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ghost touches are a common hardware issue for the Fire while charging. It's not a ROM problem

It can happen. It could happen with all kinds of different roms but ghost touches were more frequent in CM11 based roms from my experience. You should try looking for another charger, perhaps not the nameless made-in-China kind, perhaps something that lets less voltage will reduce your problems. I never have issues when my Kindle's charging from my PC since it's a low power output compared to plugs, and an old blackberry charger is pretty good too. Hope that helps :/

anybody?
yes, I also noticed that. But its not always. This may be caused by the cahrger or the socket itself, if there are other devices plugged in as well. Touchscreens do react very fast on any kind of unnormal powersupply. I have 3 of those original Motorola wall chargers. but i noticed that only on one of those. maybe its the socket where it is plugged in or the charger itself. i will test is later while recharging my phone.
I noticed this for the first time today. Very strange. And annoying.

I know if was more of a common issue on older phones..... perhaps this lovely problem is back with the Intel chips.

Speaking from older Samsung phones. But I assume it was common. Some of my old HTC phones had the same problem.

What firmware version have you ?
I upgraded mine with latest EU firmware here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1936512
My Razr was not up to date.
Not a big update but I noticed some improvement: No more lag when zooming out/in the home page, NFC notification get an icon near the clock, before it was a " standard app notification".
I never notice the sluggish touchscreen, maybe this issue is solved on this firmware.

The last version. I update in the last week. FW: Brazilian version 87111012012.XT890
I've had this problem on a number of Motorola phones (and others) and believe it's something to do with earthing/grounding. That could be why it varies from one charger to another, or even perhaps how much current is flowing through the charger.
I'm not an electrical expert, so I might be talking nonsense - but I don't think it will be firmware related.

there are problem with charger or is my house? Here is 220 volts.
So finally i got my battery empty after 2,5 Days
Just tested it with my old charger from a Mielstone 2 and the new one.
There is no lag or slowdown with the new one, but with my old charger the phone reacts very bad especially to light touch gestures. So i guess its a problem with the AC charger. I have 230V here in Germany. Or the Touchscreen (digitizer) is just too cheap and can't handle a non perfect Current/Voltage.
I tested with diferent charger and same problem. I pick up a Samsung SII and some problem with my chargr and I use anothers charge with Samsung II same problem too. I have a LG P500 and dont have problem. Whats happens? Samsung SII and Razr I there are delay in touch but LG P500 I dont have this problem USB never problem.

Mhl adaptors for the LG 4X

What are the brands that make compatible mhl adaptors for the 4X? Personally i would prefer it if there was a compatible mhl adaptor for dvi or even better, for displayport. Is there such a thing for the 4X?

Hi, I'm planning to buy an MHL adaptor, my question is that with CM10.1.2 ROM is there any issue, will that work? Or I have to revert to stock rom?

Mine which has CM10.1.2 freezes the second I plug the MHL cable and the only way to "unfreeze" is by hard rebooting it
Honestly... I dunno for other phones.. But P880 is not good on MHL... because it drain the battery really fast!! Even those MHL cable needed an extra USB port for supplying power. The battery goes down 10% about every 8 mins. I am only playing online video(youtube etc.) some games might drain more battery. I also tried to use a 2A power supply.. the result is still the same.. (I found our P880 will not take advantage on higher current supply, let me know if I am wrong on this. Maybe it is just the power supply lies on me)
OK.. for your questions.
CM does has an issue on rotation for P880. As I told before, CM said it is a problem of Nvidia drivers and they've announced it won't be be fix. CM10.2 is slightly better... but it still has problem because CM10.2 just lock everything in portrait mode on your output screen. If an apps need landscape mode. it will has rotation problem. Also, I still don't have a clue about how to make it displaying 1080p.
If you need really need MHL on P880.. stock rom is the only option.
For the cables that work, at the time I was buying a MHL cable, I asked the store about it. They said any MHL has USB power should work. The one I buy said it is for Galaxy S2 and some LG model on the box and it works like a charm. Running games and playing video smoothly on 720p or 1080p.
Hope it helps and Thanks
Mike

As mentioned, leave charging as long as possible. Hours since it can depend on your Kindle OS version (eg 7.X.X), and not all Kindles are the same believe it or not. Then plug it in your computer with the fastboot cable, if "Fastboot" appears on your screen, your in fastboot mode, move on to recovering it. Don't mean to get you panicked on this last part, but not all "fastboot/factory cables" put you into fastboot mode, unless it was declared in the description it works on KF. Good luck though.

[Q] HDMI adapter ROM support?

Do any of the current ROMs support the HDMI cable for the Nook HD+? I can't get mine to work on the official CM10.1. Did anyone have better luck?
Thanks!

I have ued it with 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 11. Also works with Carbon and Xperia. Try taking it out of whatever case you have and trying again. The connection has to be 100% flush with the device or it doesn't work. The case I bought gets in the way so I have to take it out to use the cable.

Best Rome with HP Touchstone

Hi, I have given a tablet to my mum (82) and have it running webOS as she only uses the touchstone to charge and is not good with wires usb's etc.
Most of the rom's I currently use can be finicky on the touchstone and I can't remember which cm9 or 10 used to work flawlessly.
So if anyone is currently using a touchstone and not having any problems could you please tell me what rom to try for her.
Thank you
Edit
Well the Touchstone seems to work fine with both Flintman and Milac KK data media Roms, will probably go for Milac as the home button work's and volume +/- is the same way round as webOS.

i'm still on cm9 (official nightly) and never had any problems with touchstone
(for your reference even your problem is solved already)
I'm using jcsullin's excellent kitkat 3.0 cm11 since this morning. Previously it's been the cm10.1 build from before Christmas. Various builds all the way back to cm7. Never quite at the bleeding edge, as I wait for Bluetooth and camera stability. Touchstone has always worked for me. Since I have it in an official HP cover, I always place it quite carefully in landscape on the touchstone.
Can't believe how well supported we are on this tablet - thanks to all devs for keeping it up there as a great device to use.

I too have also just installed jcsullins CM11 and it is running very nicely.
I agree, I was using JCSullins CM10.1 and now 11 and both worked perfectly with the touchstone. The most finicky part is making sure the TP is correctly centered on the TS. It doesn't seem to self center as well as the phones did.
I've been on milaqs cm11 3.0 kernel for couple weeks now. I have no problems using the touchstone charger as its my primary charger. I previously had milaqs cm10.2 running and also official cm9 with no problems charging with touchstone charger. I've used the hptp recently till it shut its self down at 2% charge. Put it on touchstone charger it showed charging and after about a minute it turn itself on and kept charging to full so it work flawlessly for me.
I too am using JCSullins CM 11 and have no problem with touchstone charging. Agree with the centering so don't use in cramped areas where it is difficult to see
or place.
