Hello,
Ive tried a lot of roms , but in every rom my speakers and earphones don't work for music and also can hear phone calls only in the loudspeaker, please help......
Many people are having problem with their speakers and headphones..
Maybe its a hardware issue..
Best way to check if your in stock xperia/ stock based ROM is
Go to dialer
Dial
*+*+7378423#*#*
(*#*#service#*#*)
Check there dude..
If its still not working go to the Sony centre (with your stock ROM in your phone and act stupid if you still have warranty [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] )
It is not working in 'service' as well.
But strangely, when I plug in ear phones and open the FM Radio app and switch on the loudspeaker, I can hear sound. So, this is not a hardware issue.
Also, going to the service center is not an option.

It might be some sort of hardware issue! This is usually caused by dirt in the headphone jack making the phone think that headphones are plugged in all the time, can you change the ringer volume and see if the sound comes through the speaker?

Then, if I were to actually plug in earphones I should be able to hear something right? Not happening though. I just cleaned the headphone jack and it doesn't seem to work.

If I receive a call while I have headphones connected through the USB connector the ringer sounds through the phone speaker as well as the headphones (Normal profile). On every other phone I've had, inserting headphones into a jack socket mutes the external speaker.
Is this peculiar to the S730/Wings or the custom USB connector? Is there a fix or hack for it?
I could put the phone on vibrate but then I wouldn't hear the ringtone through the headphones - or probably remember to switch back to Normal when finished!

The ExtUSB port is designed with a metal contact on the square side (on the "back" of the port) to detect the headphones. Make sure that the contact is made. This may or may not be the problem; but it's a good starting point.
I'm thinking not in my case because the ext speaker is muted for music but an incoming call will activate it?
It sounds like something software related but I don't know where to look.
I had a look at a friend's Kaiser yesterday and that does exactly the same thing (and I tried their HTC media controller in my Wings), so it doesn't look like it's exclusive to this model.
Yes. This was posted also by darksider:
if im listening to music with any application through the earphones, it makes-that the sound is at once also playing through the phone speaker, and i have to restart
hey i have the same problem....
if i am listening to music using the headphone and i become a call, then the ringtone comes through the speakers and also the music that i am listening to.
this is a big problem..
thanks
any solution??!?!
I suffered the same problem in the bus, and was very embarrassed because everybody looked at me and I didn't notice...
You have to report this problem to HTC (or reseller). More responses = better chance to find the solution in upgrade. But you HAVE TO DO IT!!!

front speaker dosent work either ??
If you think all your volume settings are correct, then answer the following questions:
Can you make phone calls normally?
Yes - front speaker is OK
No - front speaker problem
Is your phone ringing normally?
Yes - rear speaker OK
No - rear speaker problem
Do you have a problem with specific app only?
Yes - check app settings (any updates lately?)
No, multiple apps problem - check your volume settings again
Your description sounds like you are having a software problem with the same app on different ROMs.

Did you try another music player?
If your front speaker is not working during a phone call, then it's broken. This issue though is not related with your app not playing music.

You are not getting more answers because you don't describe your problem well. You've been asked 3 times have you tried another music player... and your answer is? I have a feeling you are confused which speaker is "front" and which is "back". In 2 consecutive replies I got 2 completely opposite answers from you.
Front speaker is the tiny one with a little black mesh and it will never play any music. It's one and only purpose is to hear other party during a normal phone call. Rear speaker is the one under battery door. It's purpose is to play all system sounds (rings, notifications, etc), work as speakerphone during a phone call (only if speakerphone enabled) and play music when no headphones attached (if Media Volume is properly set, of course).

i know your confused
yes i did try other music players .. i have tried other stock roms . front speaker dosent work when i a phone call .. and the rear speaker works when incoming a call but when playing music it dosent work. if i go to settings and change a ringtone then the rear speaker works . and when in a phone call if i turn on the speaker it works .
hope this helps
OK, lets fight one issue at a time:
1. As I understand, your tiny front speaker never works. If it's correct, then it is broken - hardware issue, can't fix it with software updates/changes. Needs to be replaced.
2. Your back speaker plays ringtones and notifications, but not music in any player. Obviously, the speaker itself is OK, but something else prevents music to play on it. Could be two reasons:
a) software issue with the app(s) you are using or with media volume control settings (you said you checked this already)
b) since ringtones and notifications always play through rear speaker and never through headphones, your phone might think headphones are plugged in and this is why it never plays music through back speaker. I've seen similar issue with an iPhone. The cause was dirty headphone jack. Small resistance between ground and L/R contacts makes the phone think headphones are plugged in. This causes the same issue as yours - you hear the phone ringing, but you can't play music. If you hear the music normally through your headphones, than all you need to do is to clear very well the phone jack. If it doesn't help, than more "aggressive" cleaning is needed. If it was my phone I would dissemble it and clean the PCB thoroughly.
3. If nothing helps, than you need a new phone. There is no point to pay for diagnostic/repairs on a 3y old phone.

it was after i tried slimbean
i think your right maybe i will clean it will let you know
the tiny speaker worked but after slimbean it stopped and like spending 2 dyas on a stock rom everything worked great and again after slimbean its gone
SlimBean is not the cause of your problems. Like many other users here, I'm currently running SlimBean with no sound issues.
Tone sound on device is often working

I know this might sound off, and I could be wrong, but if all else fails read up on taking the phone apart and re-seat the ribbon for the rear speaker/vibration component and re-seat the connector for the headphone jack/ front speaker/ proximity sensor component.
Yes, it seems weird that the rear speaker seems to work for some things but not others but I had your exact problem after I dropped my phone. After re-seating the rear speaker ribbon my problem was fixed. I've been using it with no issues now almost a year after I did this.
The only reason I say to re-seat both is that I did push on the phone jack connector too so I suppose that could have fixed it, but I'm fairly certain that the rear speaker ribbon was my issue....What happens is the ribbon works itself out of its seat in an off center fashion so the ribbon ends up almost crooked as can be seen when you look at the printed lines used to ensure it has been inserted all the way.

Hello everyone.
I have a wierd issue and I have no clue if its hardware or software related. The problem is when I plug my earphones in (Sennheiser CX215), the audio and all the sounds comes out through the external speaker instead of the earphone. It doesnt always happen, sometimes the earphones would work without any hiccup, no crackling or bad sound.
I checked the jack for any loose connections and found none.
However I must add that rebooting the phone solves the sound problem whenever it occurs. So I must be guessing its a software bug (right??)
Anyways, I wanna know if anybody is having any audio or headphone jack problems ??
EDIT: And yes, I plugged the earphones all the way in. And the bootloader is unlocked without any rooting. Im currently using ''sound about'' app to divert the audio to earphones. A tad annoying
Using CX-180 with Moto G 2014, working absolutely fine. No issues here. Sound is clear and loud.
Did you test other headphones? Do a factory reset and try again.
The audio is clear and without any distortion when it works. The issue is all the sounds and i mean all the sounds comes out through the external speakers even when earphones are plugged in. I think the OS fails to recognize if the earphones are plugged in.
And another problem is that I have no other earphones xD.
Let me try a factory reset and then Ill report back. *sigh* all my data down the drain

I had the exact same problem with the headphones I use with my PC. But I tried a friends Sony headphone and it worked. So, it does look like the OS fails to recognize some particular headphones.
The same happened with me while using xiaomi piston 2 headphones....but it happens once in 10 times....so not an issue!
I think i should ask company for replacement... Its a hardware issue according to me... And bundled headphones work fine but are of pathetic quality

This sounds similar to the problem I had, im not sure if it was moisture damage or if the headphone jack is damaged. Do headphones play sound okay? If so its probably doing what mine did where it doesnt detect the headphones being removed and thinks they are still plugged in. My problem sorted itself out, I just happened to be using a aux cable for a car stereo and after unplugging, the speakers magically started outputting again.

Ive found the headphone jack on a few websites which sell parts for our SP, would replacing the jack solve the issue do you think? The part is small and uses a clip in ribbon cable so I don't think it would be too difficult to do. Before my issue fixed itself, I was considering buying the jack and attempting to replace it, I just wasn't sure if that would actually fix the issue.
Recently I encountered a problem in my Xperia SP.
There is a headphone icon shown in the status bar but I didn't connect any headphones and the speakers don't work too :crying:
Is this a hardware problem or a software problem? What is the solution?

It's a common problem with XSP headphone's socket, and to solve this simply play any sound file then keep plug and unplug the headphone jack till you hear sound from the loud speaker.

It works but it again occurs after plugging and unplugging the headphone or when I restart my phone.

Seems like a software issue. Try this app SoundAbout from google store. For me i wasnt getting any sound from earpiece and from back speaker as well. But while playing with the sound settings, i got the sound working on m back speaker. And with a little bit of searching on the net, i found a post where it mentioned to use to check the sound getting redirected to speaker or the earpiece. I checked with the app, and now i can hear from the earpiece as well as from speaker. May be the software or the firmware is corrupted. One of my friend works in the sony center and he told me that first they check it with xperia companion repair option. Else they use different software to erase all and reinstall like the factory. I dont know if it is true but thats why they charge hefty. Anyways try the app SoundAbout, and mess me if it works.

FINALLY!!!!
I could hear the music from my speaker. Thanks a lot. Still, it was showing headset icon in the status bar but no worries now I can change the source from within the app. Thanks for saving me some bucks! :good:
I think there is some problem in our headphone jack bcoz I did a factory reset and changed the ROM twice but still the problem persists. It must be some hardware defect in the jack.
