Have you tried K-9 Mail:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fsck.k9
It's open source, and works every bit as well as AOSP Email did.
Has anybody got K9 mail to work with AOL? I can't get it to connect.

This doesn't work?
http://email.about.com/od/accessingaolmail/f/AOL_Mail_IMAP_Settings.htm
http://email.about.com/od/aoltips/qt/Access_an_AOL_Email_Account_with_any_POP_IMAP_Email_Program.htm
I forgot about asking here. Sorry. Yes, it was the settings. I didn't dig far enough the first few times I installed K9. The other mail programs I was checking out set the servers where I had to do it manually with K9. So far I'm liking it.

Do you use/like GMail? Cos you could always put your POP3 info into GMail and read it from your GMail app.

Gmail uses labels /filters.
It takes a few minutes to understand but once you do it obliterates antiquated folder usage.
Id highly suggest sync your email via Gmail. You can have it send mail that looks as if it originates from your original mail account.
I wasnt crazy about it but now most emails come in are automatically labeled and filed without any work from my end.
New emails that need filing can be done easily. Deleting just as easy as anything else.
Plus Gmail has instant notification. No need to set up push or hourly checks.
Looks like the next CM update will be adding Luccys BetterBrowser enhancements. So I will use Steel until then....thanks.
I tried the gmail thing before. Looks like i will be giving it another go. Just sux that there isnt a good email app available.
Is it just me or has anyone else accidentely hit the huge 'discard' button halfway through writing a mail?!
Is there a better gmail client available? Or at least some way I can get it to confirm if I want to delete the email I've just spent 10 minutes writing?
Thanks!
I know I hate that button too. You can try using the other Email app that comes with android (you can use it with gmail too)
Yeah, would prefer a dedicated gmail client so I can use the labels / archive etc. - or can u do that in the mail client?
Does anyone know if gmail has been improved in Eclair?
Cheers
(double posted)

I have found that the mobile mail client online at mail.google.com works really good.. I keep the gmail app notifications turned on and when I get mail or want to write something iuse the online site. Its just as fast and feature rich as the app...
Anybody knows how to get the GMail client source code?
Do we have access to GMail Client source code?

No, it's proprietary, and not part of AOSP. Mail app is, however...
I have a Droid Incredible and a corporate e-mail account (Exchange) attached to it. I am able to go to the search widget and search those corporate e-mails.
On the Nexus One are you able to do the same thing? 2.1? 2.2?
I tried myself on a Nexus One with 2.2 update installed and the Exchange Support was extremely buggy. Tried removing and adding the account multiple times. Sometimes the application Force Closes and the entire account gets wiped.
Suggestions? Thanks.
Does anyone have an Exchange account on their Nexus One? If so are you able to search e-mail? What version are you using?
I am running corporate exchange on my nexus I belive its is 2007 and am able to search the folders with ease

That could be the reason. Thanks for the reply.
I really wish somebody who has a stock ROM could chime in.
Hard to believe nobody else has Exchange set up on their Nexus One.
Anyone?

Found this, if it helps
Its not an application suggestions, but the author found a "workaround" to get Yahoo Mail working on the stock mail client. I don't think you can get Push from Yahoo Accounts without paying (not too sure, maybe an app will help with this?). But at least you can get your email on your phone with the stock email client and maybe save some space? That or just get GMail.
thanx for the info, i tired that but no luck

MailDroid will work over wifi though for yahoo. I am the dev, but try it out...it is on slideme and the marketplace.
Go for K-9 Mail. It's in hte Market. It handles Yahoo mail very well and has tons of features.
Yahoo released a Mail app and it is available in market.
Thanks
Hi friends
My workplace requires me to sync with their mail exchange server to get all my e-mail & calendars pushed. I've set it all up great on stock but my issue is when I am sent a new meeting request, I have no ability to accept or reject it on the phone. Any ideas on how I can resolve this? I'd prefer to stay on stock until I make sure my phone works fine before venturing into a custom ROM. I am not aware of there being any really good 2.2 ROMs specifically for the Captivate but when I am ready, I just want 2.2 on a simple ROM similar to stock without the bloatware. Any help is greatly appreciated.
no need to use a custom rom to make your mail usable.
i use an app called touchdown on my phone. it is the most complete mail client i have found so far. only downside is that it costs $20. well worth it if you need nearly COMPLETE functionality out of your mail client
i hear good things about k-9 but i couldnt get it to connect to my exchange server so i gave up on it and went with touchdown
I am using the stock app and i am able to accept or reject invites in the email app. They have a calendar icon and i scroll down and hit accept. An email reply pops up and i hit send.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
alphadog some reason it doesn't allow me to..just shows a blank e-mail. Can you also create meeting requests and send them to colleagues?

this wasnt working for me when i first got my phone. i just tried it again and it works now....an update or something i did? i dont know, its weird, because just after i got my phone, i was testing it out with some guys at work....
i still find touchdown to be better when it comes to actually reading the emails. full html email support is nice and looks more professional. the stock email client looks like a hack job when it breaks lines mid-word.

I can accept meetings on my phone, but when I go to my calendar and try to create new meetings and add participants, it does not send the invites... Any ideas?
