Since no one has mentioned this, I just wanted to point out that you can use ART runtime on stock KitKat. I have been using this for a long time and have not had any problems. It is faster in my opinion.

Go to Settings/About Phone
Go to Software Information
Tap the "Build Number" a bunch of times until it says "you are now a developer"
Now go back to Settings and you should find a new "developer options" category
Press Select Runtime and then select ART
Restart the phone, first restart of the phone will take a long time, around 20 minutes for me
Has anyone else tried this?
I changed the settings and the phone restarted, but it stuck with dalvik
Because is just a beta for developers, some aps are going to run fine, maybe some aps are going to use Dalvik, anothers will just crash.

I've been having this issue for a bit now and finally fed up enough to seek help.
I attempt to uninstall an application from my Moto X (running 4.4.2) and it immediately crashes the phone. I've done a factory reset on the phone and after installing a test app and trying to uninstall it right after it does the same thing. So basically any app I install I'm stuck with unless I wipe the phone. I took a video of the process. It doesn't matter what application I try to uninstall as it does the same thing with all of them.
apparently I can't post links to my youtube video until I get 10 posts, I suppose I could send via PM if someone wants to see?
no idea how to even troubleshoot this.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. The phone is bone stock, never tried to mess with roms or anything if that's what you mean.

This may fix it. Go settings, about phone, tap on the build # a lot. This will enable dev options. Go back one & set runtimes to art, be sure you have at least 50% batt. It can take more then 10 min.

I made this change this morning. No luck, still crashing when I try to uninstall applications. These are normal applications I've downloaded from the play store, weird. Any other ideas?

No just Rsd.
I am running Android Revolution 71.1 and I accidentally put an xposed mod on that allows 6x6 lockscreen patterns for AOSP devices. Now, my phone is stuck at the lock screen, and I cannot unlock it, as when i tap on the pattern, it says "unfortunately, systemui has crashed" and im stuck. I dont want to wipe my phone and completely start from scratch, but I need help disabling the mod I put on. Anyone have any ideas?

just dirty-flash the rom again (ie flash, and during the installation select: do not wipe userpartition)
PS: when the ROM boots up again, before activating Xposed again, make sure to uncheck the offending module
Thanks!

When enabling ART runtime on my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4, the system reboots and says optimizing apps, and then goes through the apps. However, it does this every time I reboot the phone (tried rebooting multiple times). I tried a full reset and running ART runtime again, but the same result. Switching back to DAVLIK solved the problem (phone reboot normally without the endless app optimizations each time), but still, cannot do ART. Any thoughts? Thank you.
BTW, I tried posting this in the question and answer section. If I posted this in the wrong place, my apologies!! First time poster.
I know many guys gonna cry after I post but sh*t happens. Save art for L. Till then stick with what works. No proof that art does anything to give you crazy performance. Stick with what works

Did you install or update anything between subsequent reboots? If so, it's going to optimize them during the reboot occurring immediately after the installs/updates.
His description is identical to mine. Rebooting without installation of new apps has the same result. Rebooting took a very long time every time. "updating 66 apps." ART is not ready for prime time on this phone.

No, didn't install anything new. Keeps "optimizing" the same apps over and over. Such a bummer!

Hi, no, not running Xposed.
Am I the only one with S Health not opening? It just freezes. I've tried re-installing as well.
Ate you rooted running xposed?
Read this in another thread.
Download Wanam Xposed mod, install and activate. In Wanam (once granted root), scroll down to "Security Hacks" > Then the last option "Disable Secure Storage" ensure this is checked.

I could hug you if I saw you right about now. This was driving me crazy. This was the last step I needed. Thanks.:highfive::highfive::highfive:
Was running xposed yes. Had cleared data. Got it working by flashing a different rom other than stock. Hah
I am having a very weird issue. Running a rooted 5.1.1 (build LMY47Z) Nexus 6. I recently began encountering issues with sending MMS. SMS and Hangout messages work just fine. At first, some messages would not come through and I would have to download them. However, now, no messages come in and I cannot send any MMS group messages.
I have tried disabling the recent update, switching to the native messaging app, clearing the cache and data for the app, and reinstalling the updates, but nothing has worked.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.
UPDATE
I went into recovery and wiped dalvik and cache. Getting this error now "Unkown Issue with Google Play Services"
More updates
I have resolved the Google Play Services Issue. Disabled it and then updated it.
Still has not fixed the MMS issue.
Someone please help
Another update
Ok, so now, after wiping once again, I am getting the message not receive "download" prompt, but they still aren't coming through.
I have no idea what to do here.

If you can access and change APN settings, Google search the correct APN settings for your region. Perhaps that may help. Also, under settings>more>cellular networks>carrier settings, what options are available? I'm on Sprint so I'm not sure what options are there for AT&T.
Also, +1 for the comment above mine. Forgot about that one.

The only options under that tab you directed me to are the following: 1) data roamin; 2) preferred network type (set to LTE); and 3) access point names (currently set to ATT Nextgenphone).

Try a restart first, then if not, wipe dalvik and cache in recovery.
