I've been out of circulation of the whole xda thing for a while with my HTC One M7 (AT&T version) but I decided to convert the thing to GPE and get updated to android 5.1.
The conversion went smoothly using this guide but now I am having some troubles applying the OTA to update to 5.1
I have tried unrooting by using the unroot option on SuperSU and then flash the OTA using stock recovery, only to find that when I want to access stock recovery I get a screen with the android alien lying down and the error "No command".
I figured I could flash the stock recovery with fastboot to fix this (downloaded 5.11.1700.3 from here) but I still get the same screen and error when selecting the recovery option from the fastboot screen.
In a desperate move I also tried flashing CWM and trying to flash the zip file but the OTA fails to install that way.
What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks in advance for your help
It's been a while since I meddled with my phone and I fear some of the adb basics are failing me. I had rooted my XT1092 a while ago and changed the DPI via a build.prop edit. Now since my device was rooted, I could not update to the subsequent 5.0.2 and later 5.1 via an OTA. As the damned "Update device" message keeps popping up and annoying the bejeezus outta me, I decided to take the 5.0.2 update via a zip (which again failed, since it needed stock unrooted 5.0 (Status 7 error, if I remember correctly).
I managed to unroot my phone, but the edited build.prop still stops me from an OTA/zipped stock update. I'd rather not do a full wipe of my device to get back to stock 5.0 (LXE22.46-19). So my question is this: can I get back to complete stock unrooted 5.0 by merely flashing the system.img files via mfastboot? Or would that cause an issue? Or flash all the files from logo.bin to fsg.mbn and stop there without wiping data? Or any other suggestion to get to 5.1 on a once-rooted phone with an edited build.prop? TIA!
You can always flash the same version of Android without a data wipe. Just download a stock firmware for same or higher Android version, follow all steps for flashing in the flashfile.xml, just don't use the command fastboot erase userdata at last. And you must flash from system image, the OTA won't work.
I'm setting up a RAZR i for a family member but cant seem to install latest OTA. It will boot to recovery fine and looks like its installing but half way through the sick android logo pops up and it reboots telling me the update failed.
I dont know if it has any significance but i unlocked the bootloader prior to trying the OTA update and also flashed TWRP recovery.
After realising the OTA required stock recovery i flashed a stock recovery image but i have no idea if this is version specific. I pulled the recovery file from LeBobo's recovery flasher tool.
The system version i'm running is 91.2.29001.XT890.Retail.en.GB does anyone have the required stock recovery i can use please?
I was trying to flash custom rom to my phone but keep on getting "error executing updater binary in zip" . Trying out the options I accidentaly wiped internal storage and with it the recovery. Now i am not having any OS in my phone
I have downloaded couple of rom from Cyanogen for MOTO X (ghost) but each of them give same error ,using twrp 2.8.7.0 as recovery (haven't tried by changing with other because its the only thing left there)
Also tried
flasing custom ROM
but here the problem is "downgraded security version update gpt_main version failed"
Was running on Android 5.1 before this all happened
PLEASE HELP DONT WANT T HARD BRICK MY PHONE
You have to flash stock rom using Rsd lite and u will be good to go
can't find a stock rom asia retail android 5.1
and can't flash 4.4 it shows downgraded security version update gpt_main version
Use the TWRP here (thanks to @rrvvrr) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3171698&d=1424260997
Its 2.8.5.0. it resolves the script error on xt1052 which official verions have.
Here's the XT1052 IMAGE https://mega.nz/#!U9lRFBgD!POchMYI96ZTy16M_PGSZ4aIjo6ktpaHKaJAmp6XBUR4
while flashing the new recovery to my device using cmd is there any risk for hard brick(when I wont be able to open custom recover or bootloader)

I recommend you flash the factory image through RSDLite once and then proceed to flash CM if you want
rsd dosen't recognize device
I just have the firmware of android 4.4 for my device but lastly it was running on 5.1 so i need that and i cant find that for my device
Can you please describe the step by step procedure to do
Thanks

My phone wiped everything and is bricked atm. I'm trying to flash the image you posted here but it fails every time at the partition and system stages. It won't work in RSDLite so I tried doing it in cmd but fails at those two points. Do you know why this might be?
Thanks
Hello guys, i really need help. i have htc one m7 device and i rooted/ bootloader unlocked and flash a custom recovery CWM 6.0.4.7 and custom ROM android 5.0.2. after a while i experienced a constant reboot so i decided to flash another ROM, this time cyanogenmod 13 official after backing up the initial Rom. i run into an error while flashing the CM13. However, i decided to restore the backup i created initial but i think the error in CM13 flash has corrupted the cwm recovery. i get this error when restoring backup -- E: volume not found.
i have been trying to flash another recovery in fastboot mode but i get this error anytime i try in command prompt. this is the error-- error: cannot load "recovery"
i have tried to rename the downloaded recovery file and flash but with no success. when i check the device manager i see htc andriod interface with a sign on it plus android adb interface.
what really am i not doing right. someone should please help me out of this.
