Had to wipe my Turbo. Everything looks good, but the contacts app is nowhere to be found in the drawer.
I can find it via settings > apps to clear data ect, but I like having the app around when I need to quickly add a new contact.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to bring the native app back?

Hi,
I want to change the defualt program assignment for the Samsung Galaxy. I can't find it on the phone.
I installed Dialer One, and when I missed a few calls, I got a pop up window asking me what program do I want to see the missed calls (Dialer One or the SGS dialer), I chose DIaler one, but for some reason it crashes when I need to check the missed calls.
The thing is I can't find the place to change it back to the regular Android Dialer....
Help, anyone?
Thx,
Roy
Go to settings, applications, manage applications and then select your application in question, under there is a section to clear the defaults. That should do the trick

That means that you haven't set that application as default or there is only one application that can perform the concerned action.. like if you have only one launcher you won't be able to clear its defaults but if you have more than one installed you'll have the option of clearing the defaults.
I used to have an OG Droid and got the Bionic on release date. I have searched, and searched and found nothing on this topic anywhere on the internet (which I find odd). Is there a reason the "auto refresh" feature for twitter does not show up on the bionic?
Also is there another app, or does the built-in blur twitter use push notifications?
TIA
I believe it is the last reason you stated. Go to settings>accounts>twitter. Check the menus in there. There is also a place in settings that lists social status update settings. Let me look quick and I'll update.
Go into settings>battery and data manager>data services?(bottom one)>social applications. Check to see if push is enabled.

Is that only for the built-in BLUR social messaging (I knew the setting was there, but wasn't sure if it only applied to BLUR apps)? If so I cannot see any setting in the BLUR twitter account to receive notifications for tweets, is there one?
Since this phone has a native twitter client built in, I don't think you can get push from the market app - similar to FB.
My advice? Download tweetcaster. Problem solved and better app.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because the "social networking" application is pretty terrible/featureless. Tweetcaster has push notifications?
edit: Also I was on Liberty, not stock and the option still wasn't there so maybe it is something Motorola did inside of their source. I might look around at it today and see if I can find the culprit for this.
edit2:
reddit.com/r/Android/comments/j6z4p/anyone_else_notice_automatic_refresh_missing_in/
It seems this issue may not be tied to Motorola, but instead the official twitter app. However I have looked at the other twitter apps and do not see push notifications (or c2dm) mentioned anywhere.
Tweetcaster has push.

Interesting as it would not appear so by looking at the settings since the settings show different refresh times, and no option for push/c2dm. Is tweetdeck also this way?
edit: Tweetcaster definitely does not have push/c2dm messaging.
Bump. Does anyone have any idea? And if tweetcaster has push notifications how do you enable them?
TIA
Hi guys
When editing a contact and adding a picture to it, it used to give me several options, like whether I would like to add the picture from Album, Picture Editor, Picture Viewer, File Manager etc and then it would ask Once Only or Always...
Well somehow Dropbox got selected together with the Always option so whenever I want to add a photo to my address book it only now offers me Dropbox.
I can't figure out for the life of god how to reset or reverse that so that I can select photos from my album again...
Any help?
Please... Lol
Thanks!!

The only way which I know is to uninstall Dropbox form Android and install again, after that when you will select the pictures will appear all the options.
Thanks I will try that!

Yhea, I know, in this case working what way. If you do this with Whazzup, for example you want send a pic and you select Always with Album, in this case you don't have to uninstall Whazzup but just keep pushing the botton attachment and the option will appear. Should working that way for everything but actually is not.

Or you could go to SETTINGS > APPS and then "clear default" in the app you don't want to be the selected by default... Is not necessary to uninstall...

Ok, so try this, go to Whazzup, and try to send a picture to someone, whazz will ask you which album or whatever you want to use, select always and the Album which you like, now when you want to send a pictures you will always use the same app with the album which you selected by default.
Now go to Settings > Apps > Whazzapp and see in you can click on Clear Default, because to me is not working in that way, maybe with some app only.

Because the one you need to clear is not whatsapp... Should be the app that is by default opening the pictures... for example "Settings > Apps > "Gallery or media app opening the pictures by default in whatsapp" then "Clear default"... I hope I could make myself clearer this time...
I hope it helps
I'm using 2014 Moto X on Verizon Wireless with latest Google Android 5.0, everything was working well and all of the sudden I noticed that I'm not getting all notifications as I use to anymore... for example, I'm not getting notifications when I get email to Gmail or text to Goolge Voice and etc. Rebooting my phone that did not solve anything(
Any ideas?

Not clear enough to provide an exact solution, but there are quite a bit of changes made to how the user is notified with lollipop; All, Priority and None modes. Use your vol up or down key on your homescreen and make sure you chose all, then give it a try!

I'm getting some notifications from other apps, and i checked that i'm not on priority or none modes, i'm in "all" mode.
Go to
Settings - >apps> all> gmail
Check whether the get notifications box is ticked

Only these two steps monitor the notifications. If nothing is happening, try clearing cache from the recovery. If even that doesn't help, a factory reset will do the work.

Are you sure all your sync's are on and you aren't on battery saving mode? Clearing cache wouldn't really help your cause, but in any case once you get to the android guy, tap power+vol up button simultaneously for a second and let go, repeat until you get the menu; it is a bit finicky

any other suggestions other then doing factory reset??

Sending gmail to yourself is not a good test, especially with certain routers which have problems with loop back issues. Have someone else send you an email, outside your network.

I email myself plenty of times from other emails, problem is obviously in something else, definitely not in email sending part.

I did not turn any syncing off and battery mode isn't on...
after doing Factory reset, that solved that.. but unfortunately not for long as a little bit over a week later I came back to exactly same issue AGAIN(((
You could try installing a different launcher see if this somehow kick starts notifications. I use Nova Launcher, you can get an unread count plugin for it which tells you how many missing emails, text messages, what's app messages etc you have. You may not need to install that though just nova launcher, switch to that and then back to Google Now (if you prefer it) then that should hopefully give it a kick.
Good morning all. I don't know if anyone has come across or knows of a solution to this annoying problem.
Basically, the stock contacts app (by Samsung) crashes when I want to view details of a contact. You can open the program and it shows you the list of names, but if you want to open it up to call or text then it crashes. It's annoying as I cant use my call log as a point of returning calls. I've had to download Google Contacts to overcome some of the problems.
Is there any way of uninstalling it and reinstalling it as I know it's integrated into the dialer app too. Or does someone use an alternate dialer/address app that's simple and clean? No fancy themes or additional features.
Thanks all!

I've had similar issues with the stock dialer and messaging app. Sometimes they'll just freeze and only rebooting the phone will get them working again. Interested to hear if anyone has some sort of a fix as well.
I looked on the comments of the contacts app on the Samsung marketplace and other note 8 users had the same issue. So it's not just us.
Hmm.. tested over and over.. no problems what so ever
I had the same issue with the stock contacts app on my Note8 and here's how I fixed it. Go to Settings > Apps > Contacts > click the vertical ... in the top right corner > Uninstall updates. I hope this works for others too.
Edit: Unfortunately, this may only be a temporary fix.
Are you using any theme overlays? Substratum? If you are uninstall and try again.

This worked for me - thank you
It seems as though the latest update has fixed the crashing. My phone updated itself and I think the bug has been squashed.
