[SOLVED] [Q] Get into D4 not recognizing SIM? - Motorola Droid 4

Hello guys,
I bought a shattered-screen D4 off eBay for spare parts. It was listed as not booting, but it actually boots fine. The problem is it doesn't recognize the SIM and as it was wiped before I got it, I can't get anyhow get inside the system. I tried Airplane mode, but still the initial SIM unlock is needed to get inside. I can get to settings though.
Dialing *#06# or looking into settings shows the correct MEID/IMEI.
I tried switching the SIM & micro SD part from my working D4 to this one, to no avail. If there is a HW problem, it has to be on the main PCB - but it doesn't seem to be broken anyhow.
ADB shell won't let me into most folders including data (not rooted ofc):
Code:
C:\>adb shell
127|[email protected]_maserati:/ $ ls /data
ls /data
opendir failed, Permission denied
I can browse contents of sdcard0 via USB Mass Storage - not that it would help though.
Do you think there is a way to root the phone and install safestrap?

hi LuH,
I hope you will still read this. I have exactly the same phone, with exactly the same problem (does not read any SIM, at least italian ones)... did you manage your D4 to work? Was it sim-locked or not? I don't get any messages from mine...
Thanks!

Sorry to disappoint you, but I never got it to work (and didn't really try as this was a second unit for spare parts and testing that wasn't even supposed to boot according to the ebay listing) in GSM. Everything is fine except it doesn't recognize SIM. I tried switching the piece of PCB with SD and SIM terminals with one from my working phone, to no avail, so I suspect something's wrong with the main PCB.
I don't think it's any kind of simlock - that would have gone away when I sbf-restored it IMO. I suggest buying new unit, or claiming warranty for this one if applicable.
What I tried to solve here was how to get past the activation screen (which doesn't work without SIM, it requires it to be inserted for activation) so I can root the phone and install safestrap and flash different ROMs - which can be done using the 4-corner trick to skip activation.

Aha, many thanks for your answer ... at the end I sent back the phone to the vendor, as it was clear that the problem was the PCB/SIM slot. I suppose that a little number of D4 was defected in production, as some other people reported a similar problem here and there...
Hope next one will work

Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-59465-g4bad32
Build Number: GRK39F
Carrier: AT&T (This is an unlocked Nexus One)
So after the most recent update sent out by Google, my phone has been functionally bricked. I have lost all cellular signal and cannot dial anyone, even 911. However, Wifi and Bluetooth functionality remain.
The cell phone for some reason also does not recognize when it is connected via USB, and thus I have had major difficulties attempting to root the phone. Thus far I haven't found any means to root the phone.
Is there any way to fix this mofo? Or should I just get a new phone?
Edit: Also, wrong forum. Apologies. Move to whatever forum is appropriate.

Thanks for the response.
I've tried doing a factory reset (about 3 times now). I've taken out the sim card, put it back in multiple times. I've done multiple power resets, as well as tried loading through the bootloader.
I put the *#*#info#*#* in and the phone info is set right (I believe) to WCDMA preferred.
Also tried to use passimg.zip (2.3.3) on the bootloader, but it didn't detect an image for some reason. At least that's what I read for the half second the bootloader showed something.

[Q] SIM Card problem on 7300

Hello
A few days ago I bought Galaxy Tab 8.9. The tablet works great except one problem. The device does not see my SIM card. No matter if my SIM is in or out when I try to enter Settings --> Mobile Network i receive this message: Insert SIM card to access network services
The device was bought from other (not my) provider (I bought it from second hand). Is it possible that the device is locked for other SIM card ? I don't believe it's locked because providers in Israel do not suppose to lock any devices, but any way how can I check this?
And if it is not locked how can i fix this problem?
My device info is:
Model number: GT-P7300
Android version: 3.2
Baseband version: P7300XXKHC
Kernel version: 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Nov 8 09:34:49 KST 2011
Build number: HTJ85B P7300JHKK3
The device is not rooted and i still didn't change the CMR...
did you try reverse the sim card?
or put it back to normal phone still works?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA

[Q] HELP SIM CARD Not recognized after flashing rom

Dear XDA I9070 experts I really need some help here.
First I want to apologize if I have some errors, my english is not very good, so sorry about that, I will try to do my best to explain and give the best background information if anyone can help me.
My actual phone is an Motorola Atrix 2, and I have flashed roms several times following the procedures explained on the threads here in this awesome site XDA step by step. So being able to flash roms with no problem at all I tried to do the same on my wifes old Samsung I9070.
I followed a thread that explained how to flash a ROM from GB to Kit Kat for the I9070 step by step here on XDA. The thread is this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198341
It all went fine but being that the phone was not being used by anybody I forgot to insert a SIM CARD before the flashing procedure. I really don't know if that makes a difference, but when the mobile booted the first time after the ROM flashing I inserted my SIM card and to my surprise I didnt recognized it... booted the phone again several times and nothing, but the SIM card is being detected right away on my Motorola.
So I tried to do some research about that and some people suggested to go back to stock firmware, and others told that it was a problem with the EFS folder.
So I tried going back to stock JB with ODIN, but this time with the SIM CARD inserted, and nothing, the same problem. So I tried inspecting the EFS folder and I think that is the problem but I need some advice on this.
The EFS FOLDER has this content:
A bunch of files named CRYPTPROP...
DECRYPT_KEY
ESSIV
GUARDFIL
NV.LOG
NV_DATA.BIN.MD5
And some folders inside... Thats all. I didnt made any backups of the phone or the EFS folder
So I tried using the code *#06# and it gives a valid IMEI 3544******* etc
I really don't know how the phone still shows a valid IMEI with the file NV_DATA.BIN missing, so I checked the phone information and found this:
Inside SETTINGS:
MODEL NUMBER: GT-I9070
ANDROID VERSION: 4.1.2
BASEBAND VERSION: I9070XXLQL
KERNEL VERSION: 3.0.31 - 1485715
BUILD NUMBER: JZO54K.I9070XXLQL
Inside SETTINGS - STATUS:
NETWORK: UNKNOWN
SERVICE STATE: OUT OF SERVICE
MOBILE NETWORK STATE: DISCONNECTED
MY PHONE NUMBER: UNKNOWN
IMEI: 3544******
Maybe the EFS folder is not all bad, I really dont know, please I need some advice here. My motorola screen is dying and I need to recover this one as it is a good phone. Thanks in advance for your help.

Your baseband is not missing, but anyway you can try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677807
P.S. And you did factory reset after going from GB to JB?

Thank you Flo0008 for you help... I used a firmware from Sammobile... this one exactly I9070XXLQL_I9070ITVLQ5_ITV as it was one of the more recent ones.
By the way I'm from Venezuela, but I bought the phone new and unlocked from amazon, the phone is in mint condition and my wife used it for more than a year without any problems, also we use the same carrier... it was not used anymore since December 2013 and recently I charged it for a full battery and did the firmware flashing and since then I'm facing the No SIM card, Insert SIM card message.
Could it be the firmware I selected I9070XXLQL_I9070ITVLQ5_ITV the problem?... It's from Italy... maybe you can recommend using another one.
Thanks in advance!
I had similar situation once when I tried different SIM card. My solution was to put SIM a bit twisted into its bed.
[\] instead of [|].
It took few tries but finally it got detected and working.
Sent from my SGS Adv. using xda-developers app.
most likely your phone was *not* SIM unlocked before you flashed it: I did the same thing to mine and read many similar stories here and there.
I never found a solution and bricked my phone while trying to fix it. I went up to copiing a full ROM dump from another working 9070P: the copy succeded and phone worked (IMEI cloned etc...) but still no SIM card recognized (it was a spare free one so not a problem
If I manage to achieve my unbrick procedure (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701363), we might be able to fix that by reseting the full ROM to a valid state.
Facing the No Sim issues
i am facing the same problem, and it was all of a sudden."No SIM"
I sent the phone to service center, but they failed to repair.
i have tried everything, hard reset, downgrade to GB, upgrading again to JB (via ODIN), custom ROMs, but no luck.
what i figured out is my phone works on some older SIM cards, which have square shaped Chip (like the one in BSNL sim).
any suggestions????

I need help with T-mobile AWS unlock

Hi I need some help hopefully some one can help me get this figured out. i got a S4 Active that is unlocked, didn't know that I would have to do anything to get 4g or 4gLTE. so I followed the guide listed in these two links:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441211
http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-t...aws-bands-on-att-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337sgh-i337m/
everything went fine up to after the back up using QPST. when I went to restore using QCN file “337_AWS.qcn” i got about 5% then got this error message "received and invalid command from the phone. "
I've attempted to get this to work on different PC's with the same results. I've even tried to use the backup that I created with the same effect except it went to 6%.
the phone spec's are:
android version 4.3

If anyone a way to help please let me know.
ok so after a lot of digging i found the solution worked great.

Mobile on my Note 5 N920W8 can't connect to provider

I bought a used Note 5 64GB yesterday. I put my 7-11 Speakout sim into it, and it worked great. I also tried a Wind Mobile sim and that worked well too. After I got the device home I noticed that there was a software update for it, however, I couldn't install the update due to "unauthorized software having been detected". The error message suggested I use SmartSwitch. I proceeded to download SmartSwitch, and once I installed it and plugged in my device it began updating. Unfortunately, once the update was complete my device's phone could no longer be used, "Could not connect to requested network..". When I manually search for mobile networks I can find WIND/Bell/Rogers and Speakout but, like I mentioned, I can't connect to them.
Any idea what I've done wrong? I've tried flashing the device a number of times now (custom roms + stock roms) and I can't seem to get the mobile functionality working again. I have tried a Bell / Rogers / Wind and a Speakout sim card and all result in the same thing.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure if you are having a similar problem to the one I describe here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64872537&postcount=22
so far no solution has been offered. I've contacted Bell via their 'escalation' request.... silence
It seems like the software upgrade to 'N920W8VLU2AOK5' has caused mobile connection issues for some Note 5 users.
I will let you know if / when anything happens
