Hi
I bought the ZR a month ago, but opened the box about 3 weeks ago, , I updated it to 4.3 via OTA freshly out of the box.
It was working fine until last week, got one messsage "android phone stopped working" once, then I wasn't able to hear when calling or recieving a call. Everything else was still working.
Now, two days ago I turn it off and on, the phone goes up to locked homescreen and then screen goes black and restarts automatically. This repeats indefinetly, if I don't turn it off as soon as the homescreen appears, I have to remove the battery because power key doesnt responds.
I got the phone from an ebay seller
I live in Peru.
Excuse my english.

Switch off your Xperia ZR first
Press and hold the Volume Down button
Connect to your PC using a USB Cable while holding down the Volume Down button on your Xperia ZR
Before plugging in the USB cable on your Xperia ZR make sure that the other end of USB cable is already connected to the PC.
Your Xperia ZR should be in Flash Mode now and the device’s LED light should turn into Green

That's impossible. Go to Flashtool folder. U will find the driver folder and Flashtool-drivers.exe to be run to install the required driver for ZR. Run it and tick the nessesary driver and clicked installed and u're done.

Are you on windows 8?. Windows 8 requires some special steps to install the xperia A drivers. You have to disable the driver signature enforcement first then install the drivers.
I don't know about ZR but your log says USB debugging is off .
So enable USB debugging.
And make sure you are not in mtp mode in USB connectivity

OK... I will tell about my case.
I bought the ZR in august 2013. It was rooted and flashed to 4.2.2. Everything worked fine. Until January 2014.
The first problem was - Silence during calls. I was not able to hear something. And my voice was not heard on the other side. In tests microphone and dynamic worked fine. External dynamic and earphones did not change something - silence during call remained.
After some time (phone was on and off... and again... and battery was removed some times) problem disappeared. But after one day it came back. And disappeared again... and came back... and so on for few times. The other functions all the time worked good. I only was not able to talk during calls.
I flashed the phone to 10.4.1.B.0.101... and to some previous firmwares by Flashtool. But nothing changed.
The next stage after some days was: I turned the phone off. And after turning on it was not been able to see the network. And wifi was not working. I went to settings and saw - IMEI and MAC have disappeared.
I flashed phone to 10.4.1.B.0.101 again. Nothing changed.
And after a little time phone said something like: "the system application stopped" ( I did not remember exactly). And than after rebooting it went into:
"the phone goes up to locked homescreen and then screen goes black and restarts automatically".
I think our cases may have one problem in basis. And I think the problem is in hardware. Because i flashed my phone for some times and flashtool did not said something about errors and drivers was ok.
I will go to service center. But I think they are not very good in fixing phones here...
Any thoughts?
Problem was solved. Sony changed some electronic parts of my phone. Now it works good. It was the hardware dysfunction.
hello
Few minutes ago ive been trying to install new FW for xperia t suddenly flashtool says that i dont have drivers for my phone. So ive installed drivers for flashmode, fastboot and xperia t /tx from flashtool folder. however problem still exists. does anyone have solution for it.
thanks in advance
oh damn, not a single word about your running OS
let me guess? win8, 8.1? if you have linux/ubuntu based available, i would suggest you to use flashtool, fastboot, adb on linux. if you only have win8/8.1. then you should search our xperia T forums, there are several posts about problems. there are problems with driver certification or other stuff like that since win8. if i remember right somehow i got all working on win8, but since i have win8.1, i switched to linux for android stuff^^
if i find the way i got it working on win8, then i edit my post.
best for the average pc user would be to use win7. my opinion.
Oh sorry i forgot about OS. So im running on Win XP SP 3.

Try a older version of Flash Tool, see if that helps. Also close any running processes you don't need before you install Flash Tool.

i have installed them already. ive tried with several usb cables and nothing.
I've had some issues with the .14 version of Flashtool that you seem to be using
I wasn't able to flash anything.
Worked like a charm though when using my brothers laptop, that is running an older version of Flashtool
So maybe using you should try an older version of it
problem solved.
ive used flashtool 0.9.9.0 however problem seems to be with busybox as ive installed it again and now is flashing without problems
The instant I enter flashmode the flash fails. Here is my log:

Any ideas what could be wrong or what I can do?
Thanks
Edit: I tried uninstalling the phone from Device Manager, but that had no effect. When the flash fails I see a popup in the corner saying this device malfunctioned/is not recognized.

1.- Are you sure you have the right FTF for your phone model?
2.- Are you sure the FTF file isn't corrupted? (download again)
3.- Are you sure the proper drivers are installed (install them from the "drivers" folder in the Flashtool folder).
4.- Are you sure your USB cable isn't damaged and is disconnecting while flashing (try a different cable).
I think I've read that excluding the TA partition and/or BASEBAND might help. Don't take my word for it, Google it first.

1 - I have an Xperia T and this is the FTF I 'm trying to flash.
2 - Yes, I have re-downloaded from a mirror.
3 - That installer doesn't include drivers in it's list for Xperia T, the Xperia TX drivers failed to install, I tried them to see if they would work.
Edit: In flashtool, exclude baseband is clearly labelled, but exclude TA partition is not. I can exclude "partition", is that it? Or could it be the "FOTA" option?
4 - The cable isn't causing the problem. Tried another.
I have no idea how excluding the TA partition and/or the baseband. I'll read up about it and see if it helps.
I even used the full unroot option in SuperSU, just so I could try to update the official way but it still didn't work.

No, if you don't see the exclude TA, then the FTF doesn't have the "simlock.ta" file in it.
You should use the TX drivers. If you haven't installed drivers at all, then that is clearly an issue. You could try with this driver pack, but the drivers that come with Flashtool should work.
What error do you get when installing the drivers?

Here's a screenshot of the error.
But when I attempt to install the drivers you linked to above, the top driver (Sony(WinUSB), above Sony Net) in the Device Driver Installation Wizard window has a green tick next to it. The bottom one, Sony Net, still has a red X next to it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you're using Windows 8. You need to disable driver signature enforcement, either by doing this, or Googling another method (there are several).
Notice that drivers have been extracted to the temp folder (check your screenshot); I'd copy that driver folder to somewhere else, just to have it on hand, and that way it's easier to install the drivers manually through the Windows Device Manager, something you'd need to do after disabling the driver signing, and something I'd do anyways regardless if you're on Windows 8 or not; if drivers don't come with a specific software (such as Nvidia or ATI drivers) then it's always possible and in some cases easier to just add the driver manually through the Device Manager.

I got the drivers installed succesfully by disabling driver signature verification and running the installer, but I still get the same error in flashtool. I really thought that was going to fix it.

Open the Device Manager and check if you have any devices with a yellow exclamation mark/warning. Aside from that, try a computer with Windows 7, maybe?
If not, and considering that you get a "this device has malfunctioned" error in Windows, and it's not your USB cable, then your USB port on either your phone or computer might not be working properly.

The bad news is it didn't work
The good news is I got more info this time
Take a look at this screenshot, it's definitely some time of driver issue, something called S1boot fails to install: Screenshot.
That is AFTER the successful installation of the TX drivers in the drivers folder, these errors occur the instant my phone enters flashmode.
Edit: Forgot to mention this was on another PC, running Windows 7.
Edit 2: Just to clarify, the instant my phone entered flashmode, the computer tried to install those drivers.
Edit 3: I found this, I'm about to try it. Fingers crossed.
Edit 4: Those drivers didn't work. In Windows 8, I right click the INF and it installs, but no success on the flash. In Windows 7 I get a message that this INF does not support this method of installation. There are no devices with a yellow exclamation in device manager on either computer ;(
OK I managed to update the firmware using Sony Update Server program, now I constantly get the message android.process.media has stopped working. I tried to use an app called Rescan Media Root to disable the media scanner but it didn't work. The message is relentless, the phone is unusable because of this damn message
Maybe it's occurring because I disabled some system app or something?

Most likely you didn't wipe data, A.K.A. Factory Reset.

You're right. But I fixed it by clearing the data for Download Manager and Media Manager (or something like that).
Hey everyone,
Have a bit of a major problem with my Xperia SP right now and I am hoping someone can help. I originally was on Windows 8.1 and had some major issues with the system, among one of these when I tried to install Flashtool drivers from the included file, I had to go through all the resetting and reinstalling to get driver enforcement off however when the drivers installed I connected my device and it was fine.
Then I tried to put the phone in Flash Mode and everything was going downhill, basically I connected my phone as I had done a thousand times previously on windows 7 and the phone would go green for about 3 seconds then red light and go into charging mode. If this was done when requested from flashtool it would detect it was connected but I get an error with loader.sin as below....

Now in normal circumstances this means your bootloader cannot be unlocked right? However my bootloader is unlocked.... and confirmed by service menu and also I have been using unlocked bootloader ROM's....
So anyway I eventually had enough of Windows 8 and went back to Windows 7 (separate partitions are a beautiful thing ) and tried again.... same process same result. The best bit is on both systems I cannot forcefully uninstall any phone drivers because i just get an endless loop of failures unless I do it before connecting the phone once to the computer. The way the phone reacts in flashtool is as if the phone is permentantly in Flash Mode however its not and still stays the same way until I reboot my computer.
I have tried factory resetting the phone, I have tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling but nothing is working. I even tried a different cable just in case and nothing. This only affects flash mode or the entire phone once flash mode has been activated once and then it affects the entire system and wont allow me to restart normally without pressing the reset button on my case even if the phone isn't connected and I also cannot do anything with the drivers anymore at this point.
I am actually trying to relock my bootloader and go back to stock as I will be selling the phone later this week. I flashed a cut down stock ROM from XDA using recovery but now its flashed I no longer have recovery either since it was stock and I have no root privileges now xD
Ideally what I am aiming for is to relock bootloader through flashmode, then use sony tool to reinstall full official firmware. This issue also happens with Sony tool by the way.
Any Suggestions greatly appreciated!!!!
Also tried to reinstall all drivers and Sony tool as well, MTP driver installation failed but all others went ahead and I got this on Flashtool

Would you like to use a Linux version of Flashtool? I will guide you from the very Live USB booting, UDEV implementation, and lastly the flashing process
Though please note I am quite busy, so my replies will be quite slow.

Download and run the Xperia SP driver installer to check if you have the driver installed. Here's the link.

Hi all i tried to flash my XZ2 with flashtool and i downloaded the latest ROM from Xperifirm. I created FTF file from the ROM i downloaded by unchecking .TA files. I have unlocked bootloader with cmd (which means all the drivers must be installed properly). But it didnt show neither errors nor succeeding in flashing the ROM. When i exited flash boot mode, my phone still can be turned on normally.
In before, i softbricked my phone but managed to reflash it with EMMA, but not satisfied because it's android 8. Anyone please help me, what steps i missed here? Im super noob in this kind of stuff, so please explain it easily for me. Thank u!

I have solved the problem. So i need to install the driver from C:\Flashtool\drivers, ticked the flash boot and fast boot, include .TA files in the FTF file, and not plugging my phone in USB 3.0 slot. Hope this would be useful for anyone having the same problem as mine.
