Sunshine is your only option for s-off with hboot 1.57
why do you think you need TWRP 2.8.4.0 ?

The Signed firmware is all you need not a whole RUU
TWRP 2.8.4.0 will work on your phone now you just have to flash it correctly
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.4.0-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader

no .. you can flash the signed firmware for your current version or newer
easy way is to get the firmware.zip from the last OTA you installed.

[Q] s-off on hboot 1.16

Is it possible to make s- off with hboot 1.16 with 2.3.3 STOCK OPTUS ROM?
If so, can anyone link me to a proper guide?

There is no current method available to truly gain S-OFF status with HBOOT 1.16. However, that being said, you can use the HTCDEV site to unlock HBOOT 1.16 so that you can flash a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod and then flash a custom ROM. The thing to keep in mind with this solution is after you flash the custom ROM you will probably have to manually flash the boot.img file from the custom ROM using 'fastboot flash boot [path to image file]\boot.img'
There is also some thread posts about downgrading HBOOT 1.16 to HBOOT 1.13 and then you can use Revolutionary to get a true S-OFF HBOOT.

Unzip the EXT4.zip file and extract the recovery.img file to your PC. Then with your phone connect to the PC in FASTBOOT mode, type the following command:
fastboot flash recovery [path to your image file]\recovery.img
The command window on your PC should have the working directory set to where you have installed the Android SDK tools with adb.exe and fastboot.exe.

I think i read your post regarding the same yesterday.
you did not that you have a custom recovery installed...
in this case you will not be able to flash the ruu as you are required to be stock with s-on
head over to arhd thread to get the closest experience to the stock rom.

Did you already relock the bootloader? You need to flash the stock recovery first, then relock the bootloader.
Did you extract the recovery.img file from the PG32IMG.zip file or are you just trying to have the bootloader flash the PG32IMG.zip?
The signature checking failure leads me to believe that the bootloader is locked/relocked.

How did you end up flashing the recovery? Did you use the PG32IMG.zip and copy it to your sd card or did you extract the recovery.img file and manually flash it?
If you used the PG32IMG.zip file then that probably changed the mainver value and that's why the OTA is not running.
Well guess what, my device is now crashed !, it is stock at the green HTC logo, I can not access anything except for the bootloader !.
i've installed the Android Revolution HD but it didn't work as well, my device is now in mess.

You never did answer my question about how you flashed the HTC stock recovery.
Anyway, If you unlocked your bootloader and reinstalled a custom Recovery and then attempted to install ARHD, did you manually extract and flash the boot.img file in FASTBOOT USB mode?
That may be all you need to do to get the phone booted.

[Q] Getting the 4.4 OTA (on rooted 4.3 device)

So. My device has android 4.3 now, and I have rooted and unlocked it (I used the guide from HTCOneRoot.com).
I want to install the 4.4 official OTA, but am not able to. It just boots to TWRP if I try when I get the notification.
How do I go about this? Do I need to unroot the phone and reset it to stock? Or is there another way?
I'm kinda new to this world, so it's not an easy task for me.
I'm using the international non-carrier version, if that means something(?)
Also, I've attached a pic of my bootloader.
I hope you guys can help me.
Thanks.

Would you care to elaborate, on how to?
like so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZR5yhP75Jg ?
You need to hunt the stock recovery based on your fastboot getvar main output and flash using fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sent from my mobile device
As Sahilzz siad you need to flash the stock recovery.....using a stock recovery image of the stock rom you are using.
Its a very similar process to flash TWRP recovery into your phone....just that this time its stock recovery..
Find the stock recovery for your version of One....on google.
Hope that explains it.
Thanks for the kinda replies guys.

if your ROM is stock, you only need stock recovery, not complete ruu, so
here you go: http://d-h.st/WJ8
make sure MD5 Sum: 75ced0d5599d4efca900293966a2ff34 is correct, i sometimes have problems downloading from there, if it's not correct then the download is corrupt.
to flash it, go to bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
fastboot flash recovery stock_3.62.401.1.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
now take the OTA, should install fine if ROM is stock.

[Q] Is it possible to update OTA while rooted?

I'm on android 4.4.2 (stock htc one firmware s-off) unlocked bootloader and rooted. I got on OTA update but when I click install, it reboots and goes into twrp. I'm guessing I cant install the OTA update without relocking bootloader and unrooting?
Or can I just unroot it (without relocking the bootloader) and try again?

You need the stock recovery and stock ROM to run the OTA. You can use this tool to Guru Bootloader Reset Tool to LOCK before the update since you are S-OFF. Then after you update the phone you can UNLOCK it again.

You can get the stock recovery from the OTA. If you were to unzip it on your computer, then find the firmware.zip file and open it. Extract the recovery.img out of it. This is your stock recovery. Place it in the same folder as your ADB & Fastboot files.
In bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, flash stock recovery:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
I don't know for sure if you have to relock your bootloader, I would try it first and see. I know that RUU.exe need it LOCK.

I think the best thing to do is to get S-OFF. This would turn security off and allow you to bypass some of the verification. http://firewater-soff.com/ is the most popular for hboot 1.5X. Once you get S-OFF, then try to flash the stock recovery after you lock your bootloader.

I just flashed the RUU and its back to stock.
You know, I was on 4.2.2 and I got the sense 6 OTA update today. I couldn't install it because bootloader was unlocked. I went through the whole process and returned my phone back to stock.
Currently, I am back on 4.2.2 (with bootloader relocked) but this time it says no updates available. How does that work? Because I checked and my MID /CID hasnt changed

FYI, the only way you can dump the stock recovery require s-off so you can downgrade hboot to 1.44 and use "fastboot boot recovery.img" to boot a custom recovery and then pull your stock recovery using dd commands from an adb shell of custom recovery.
example here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54167697&postcount=1095
note that sprint variant doesn't use the same partition table and that recovery is in mmcblk0p36 not p34
