Anyone know ?

yes but lags big time.
I have Chromecast which does pretty much the same thing as miracast. I have a nexus 5 and it works flawlessly. But with my lg l90 D41510e I just uninstalled it. Not worth the headache, lags big time. Atleast with chromecast it tells you that the phone you are using. In this case the l90 it is limited with screencasting. And believe me it is. On the other hand when using a 3rd party app like allcast or avia the l90 works great. Hope that helps

Mini projectors

Hello,
i'm thinking about buying one of mini projectors, but i'd like ability to connect it to the phone. Does anyone have any experience with it?
I was looking at MicroVision SHOWWX+ HDMI (http://www.microvision.com/showwxplus_hdmi/), but it states it requires HDMI 480p, which i'm not sure P990 supports.
Thanks
p990 supports even 1080p so 480p shouldnt be problem.
btw. 2 czech people chatting english
Thanks, looks like it should work. MicroVision say so as well (I've sent then mail).
Anyone with personal experience? Especially with CM?
Any projector with an HDMI input will probably work.
My 2 cents : if you are interested in games/movies don't buy anything under 800x600pixels and 200lumens. I have a acer k11 and it's ok.

[Q] Wireless display over wifi and HTC One : miracast ?

Hi,
I'm looking for a device that would allow me to replicate the screen of my HTC one on my full HD TV.
I would like to to able to do the same thing with the same device but with my mac
I think my solution is called miracast.
Am i right ?
Which device is known to work perfectly with the HTC One ?
Any idea of how to make it work with my macbook pro and iPad ?
many thanks !
HD MediaLink
Are you talking about the HD Media Link? This little accessory mirrors the screen on the HTC One to your TV. But depending on what you're doing, your experience may vary. If you like to look at photos and basically anything still, then this will work. But any fast paced moving pixels, forget about it. The only game that I've tried that works well is angry birds, but even then it stutters. I don't know how you plan on using it, but I'd say it's not worth $90. ATT gave it away for free during their preorder promotion.
This device, to the best of my knowledge, does not work with any other device besides HTC devices with at least Sense 4.0. If you want your mac/iphone/ipod to work, you need to get an appletv. Hope this helps.

Hi,
No i'm not talking about the Media Link that seems to work only with HTC devices.
I'm talking about a miracast dongle/box that i'll be able to use with my htc one, my iPad, my S2, my macbook pro, etc
Anyone have try Netgear PTV3000 with HTC One?
According to Google, the HTC One supports Miracast, but for your Apple devices only Airplay will work. Try to find a device that supports both.

There is a device called Xiaomi Box by a chinese company which is the only known device which supports Miracast as well as Airplay. Although this device is very hard to get due to its high demand in china. Try your luck. Most other devices like Belkin screencast, netgear ptv 3000, etc only support miracast.

I tried a Samsung allshare cast dongle with the HTC One and it seems to work. The One sees it as a miracast device and connects OK. The screen updates just fine but there is a serious audio sync issue when playing videos. I need to do some more testing.

I can confirm this does work with the HTC One
Miracast should be universal solution for Android devices, it is still young technology and there is not much information or tests and reviews.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/02/21/feature_wtf_is_miracast/
Bit of a flop about this is that we can't use existing technology, wireless connection, TV, PC's or consoles for that, like with DLNA. Those are designated dongles that plug into TV or monitor. If you type "miracast" in eBay search you'll find some dongles, but IMHO they are still too expensive, on par with Android media players which are far more complex and versatile. There are some hints that it can be enabled in Windows 7/8.1 using Intel WiDi but that is hardware limited. Maybe not for long

Just tried it with Sony Bravia W905 and it was no-go
One sees Bravia as Miracast compatible device, Bravia registers One and then after looong waiting nothing happens. And again, and again, reboot, restart, nothing. Oh well.

Yep, I tried configuring my One with Sony W655 and same story as above, both see each other, configured but then looong wait and nothing...
Maybe 4.2.2 will fix that?
I already am on 4.2.2. - ARHD 12. We even updated software on TV, didn't help.
Well, in that case it sucks...
It would be great to have this functionality out of the box...
Has anyone tried these HDMI DLNA devicse with our HTC ONE? I just want to play movies on the TV with this:

Get yourself the Samsung allshare dongle. It works flawlessly. Sad part it works better with my HTC one then with my samsung tablet

I have a Raspberry Pi connected to my TV, running XBMC (xbian).
I can simply use the "Select Player" option in the top right menu on my HTC when viewing pictures and select my XBMC device (xbian) I can then control the slideshow, shown on my TV pretty cool.
The videos I made with the HTC One are using 22mbit/s bitrate (ridiculously high) so that will never work via Wifi (unless you have a very expensive 11ac router).
But I could test it with other videos of course... will report back.
using the Yatse app, you will be able to stream anything to XBMC btw... but its a paid app. I think it uses DLNA tech.

Hi Globen, is this with videos taken on the HTC One or streaming videos? What's a youtube video like? I only ask because mine has a serious lipsync issue but works fine for photos and non-video screens.

[Q] Way to enable MHL (HDMI out) Cable support?

Well I've been searching about MHL support on the Moto X and I discovered that actually he doesnt support this king of cable, to stream the content to a TV via HDMI. But I also heard that its a SOFTWARE limitation, not a hardware one... So in theory we could activate this function.
Anyone knows a way or a custom ROM that supports it?

Seems it is a HW limitation, the needed chip is not there, to me anyway. But there is no workaround, there are post confirming this.

It is a workaround indeed - Miracast. It even has advantages comparing to the HDMI - no physical connections. It is a bit more expensive but it worth the price.

are there miracast dongles that exist that are complete garbage? for my needs, Chromecast does everything I need it to. I haven't had a need for HDMI since its release.
I have problem that my lg TV finds the moto x and I accept the connection on the phone but connection fails. I'm disappointed in the moto x, although its a great phone I won't buy another.

It depends of your needs. I must admit that I don't possess the Chromecast, I just borrowed it once from my friend. But as far as I could learnt, it doesn't do screen mirroring, it can only transfer certain video. And you can't transmit audio separately, the screen aimed for video must have its own audio production too (loudspeakers). You can't use plain monitor with the Chromecast if you want to have audio. Or I missed something?

Moto X MHL Out

So the first generation Moto X does not support MHL out (phone simply shuts off as soon as MHL cable plugged in)
Does 2nd get Moto X support MHL out?
http://gadgets.ndtv.com/motorola-moto-x-gen-2-1962 Says no
http://www.anandtech.com/show/8523/the-new-motorola-moto-x-2014-review says yes
which one is it?
And if it doesn't that is extremely disappointing considering my old HTC One S supports MHL
Plugging a cable into your phone to share the screen is so 2011.
Most of what you want to accomplish here can be done with other means, e.g. using a Chromecast to cast your screen, watch your videos, see your pictures, listen to your music, or do whatever else.
I'd like to know also. I have a camp in the boonies (no internet) so we always use mhl on rainy days. If mhl doesn't work, and since there is no IR blaster, I might just be passing on this phone, as much as I want it! Ugh.

sent from my Moto X (2014)
From what I heard last year's had no mhl and that article claims that had it too. So they are misinforming people on last year's model at least, therefore are not credible.

That's incorrect. Dl mirror enabler from the play store and boom.... Root required..... Just need a wifi connection

Thank you. I'll look into that. To bad my new Moto x don't have root. Does this app work for dlna or just chromecast?

LG V40, a possibility of using USB-C -> HDMI cable

Hello everyone!
I am creating this thread here in "Guides, News and Discussion" because surely it will be an discussion.
I was using my v30 for a long time until it broke and i had to buy new phone. I instantly bought v40 after some good reviews and my opinion about v30 and i didn't know that lg would make such a big downgrade for me when it comes to using HDMI cable (or display port) to put your phones screen to tv/monitors. It turns out that lg v40 is not supporting usb-c -> hdmi as v30 did BUT i saw some people managed to do it. And here is the main topic: How did they managed to do it, how could I/We do it and if it is possible, would I need to install a particular soft or root phone or what?
Sorry for my bad English, did my best.
I will wait for your opinion about this guys because i am not experienced about custom softs etc(which maybe could fix hdmi possibility).
Thanks in advance for replaying,
Teslalgm
I have a V405EBW, i just plugged in the same adapter as on my V30 (H930) and it worked, on stock and on LOS16/17 (on the V40)
Adapter is from USB C -> USB3.0+HDMI+Type-C (last for charging only)

I have to make an update, because as you said, it can work. Here is why i thought it isn't working on every v40 after last updates:
I bought 5 different adapters that converts usb c on the v40 to hdmi or display ports. Every single day i was receiving new adapter after previous didn't work I was also plugging in my old V30.
The thing is, after i tried 4 different adapters which every one worked with v30 and didn't work with v40 i thought that it's just some kind of version of my phone that can't support it.
The next day after failure when i was supposed to send my V40 back (14 days to give back in my country) i got my 5th adapter which actually worked.
I think that it's because V30 uses a newer version of usb c (1.4b) and the v40 uses 1.0 which i think caused the problem even when LG gave us an software possibility of this connection.
If anyone want to know which adapter worked for me and which didn't just write down here so i will answer to all of you with pictures and links to shops with those adapters.
So yeah, V40 isn't that bad after all, it's a shame that it's not usb c 1.4 but still i give LG plus for adding the support in software.
EDIT.
Here is the adapter that worked for me, no company name, no logo, just random no-name adapter that saved my V40

That's weird. I've got a korean V40 and it has worked with 3 different usb-c dock / dongle that I tested it with. HDMI out works out of the box. Using it to play COD Mobile on a 32" screen.
I used a Dell DA-300, Dell WD-15, a Ugreen 6-in-1 mini dock. Only the DA-300 sucks as it can't charge the phone so battery dies really really fast. The other 2 have PD2.0 support so they can fast charge the phone while in use.
From what I gathered about the V40 and USB-C to HDMI out is that the US variant phones like the T-Mobile V40 supposedly support the actual Slimport implementation, but is disabled for some unknown stupid reason. Which is a shame because Slimport has zero lag or latency. Though, I'seen some people force the LG V40's USB-C 2.0 port to display through the (DP ALT-MODE) which is a derivative of Thunderbolt 3's video out codec. I've also seen video of the LG V40 working with adapters, but there was definitely noticeable lag. I've waited a while to upgrade my phone and really wanted the V40, and now there only $200 or less. I have the LG V20 and it has the Slimport video out capability on its USB-C 2.0 port. So I figured I could just use the V20 here at the house and just have the V40 for a daily driver. What bugs me is reading conflicting stories on the LG V40 and it having Slimport. I think its like the V20. it does have a USB-C 2.0 port and it has the Slimport capability, but its not enabled on the phone. Kind of how some variants of the V20's FM radio wasn't enabled but some did get it working through firmware or software mods. Then there others that say some of the international variants officially support Slimport. My only answer to this, is to call LG and find out 1nce and for all if the LG V40 has the Slimport capability or it just has that forced (DP ALT-MODE) display out. Soon as i find any more info or get my LG V40 and dig into its system files or the international variant's ROM, i'll post some more data that I get about this. Worst case, i'll just get the V50. it has a 4000mAh battery with the Vapor Chamber. It also has the SD855 and Adreno 640. Another thing about the V20, V30, V35 and V40 is the thermal.conf file which causes the phone to thermal throttle at 43c-53c. When I ROOTED my V20 and was able to run the SD821 clock frequency mod and have the Adreno 530 run full out with out throttling was a night and day difference. No more micro stutter, lag while surfing or dropped frames in gaming. Why would I upgrade to a phone that's just going to thermal throttle itself. Though, I think ROOT has been achieved on the Unlocked variant of the V40. Just wish the T-Mobile version had ROOT.
I have a Lg v40 TMo Variant, with the most recent update, I been able to usel ISB c Dock, for HDMI out, i tested a few, and word, some that didnt work before Android 9 Update

Works fine on mine (IMEI said destined for German market i think... or was it Netherlands where i got it from... not sure atm, those sites kinda broke) though. Worked with stock, and works now with Lineage.
This thread is fantastic news!
I get my V40 this week and am selling my V35.
Got sad for a sec when I heard V40 didn't support HDMI on a review.
Glad you all found a way to get it working
