ROM performance settings and kernel apps - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can I use a kernel app such as Franco kernel updater with Roms that have performance settings built in?

Yes but I wouldn't touch their built in performance settings as those settings are meant to be used with their stock kernel.

- Custom Voltage Interface
Changelog:
v22.5 Updated kernel base for JB, added all my favorite *useful* features and removed a ton of pointless stuff, changed LCD voltage to 2.3V, and used the Bcmdhd PM_FAST in standby.
v23.0 Reverted kernel base back to 3.0.31 for speed and stability, reverted the LCD UV, and added the interactive governor (with input boost).
v23.5 Added 1.2Ghz OC, Touch Wake, Voodoo Color, and CM versions.
v24.0 Added 1.32Ghz OC, 100% battery charge fix (cosmetic), and wheatley governor.
v24.5 Added DerTeufel's 4.2 bluetooth fix, the ROW I/O Scheduler, and Ezekeel's Custom Voltage Interface.
v25.0 Added DerTeufel's vibration control interface for his Helly Bean ROM, fixed the 100Mhz not sticking issue, added the SmartassV2 governor, added USB OTG, added CIFS, and added MTP (this might not work on all the ROMs, so just let me know on which ones it does work).

Just curious as to why the topic includes bln but in the op it says no bln? I'm guessing you will include in future builds. I was a matrix user for gb and loved it. Can't wait to see how this turns out. Thank you !

Look at you go
Update: loops at the Google start up. I'll try the bfs
Update: bfs works and boots up
Cool. Can you post a log what you changed and what us different?
everything is standard matrix only without bln. To my knowledge.

I previously used Matr1x with CM7 (it's still in my sig ) and it was great. I've been using v11 for a few hours with Koush's ICS alpha 8 and it's running great so far!
No reboots or freezes
Voodoo working
BLD working perfect
CPU spy shows that deep sleep is working
Too early to judge battery performance
Oh yeah... I use ondemand, 100-1000Mhz, stock voltages .
Thanks MK. Your work is appreciated!

Should be, yes

Okay so just flashed it, seems to be working fine, not much lag...
As you said everything is working except BLN, performance is pretty nice, let's see how this goes for a day...
Thanks

[Q] How to Overclock CM9 Stable...?

Hi guys, anyone know how to over clock cm9 stable..?
It should be in settings of your kernel. What kernel do you use?
Or you can try change some settings in settings -> performance -> processor. But i don't know if it depends on kernel.

Favorite custom kernel and why?

Hi I'm new to the cappy forums and want to see what perks and such there are in the custom kernels, so I'm asking what custom kernel are you using ( if any) and why that one, is it because of features, stability, performance, etc.

I mainly use Nick0703's Unofficial Semaphore because of Step OC and In-Call Volume settings.

For your Xylon 2.3.3. ROM use "sc" or "s_vc_c" version (with Voodoo Color).

What exactly is the difference between sc, vc , c, and s?
At My main phone's forums (Samsung infuse 4g) we don't have any custom kernels yet, one is in the works but that's it so flashing custom kernels is kinda new for me, so any details would be great. Also I am very thankful that you added in which type I should be using for my install ROM, I flashed devils kernel to try out, and thinking about trying the dual boot one, but I want to find out add much add possible about the advantages and disadvantages of the different kernels before choosing a daily driver.

Normal version "c" is for most ROMs, version "sc" is for Slim based ROMs. Your Xylon 2.3.3 runs better with "sc" version.
"vc" stands for Voodoo Colour mod. Download Voodoo Sound app from the market to have VS/VC control.

based off of the post above yours i would say "C" cuz if im not mistaken PAC is primarily CM Based, but i would wait for actual confirmation before proceeding
I don't remember what kernel version PAC uses, but just install the ROM and look what kernel it comes with. PAC ROM is ported by the same dev - Nick0703. Most likely the default kernel is already his Unofficial Semaphore, therefore no kernel change needed. PM him to confirm.
If you come from a CM ROM the kernel will stay the same.

This is what the dev said
"You can use any version that you want. But if you're using the "s" version then you'll need to flash HugeMem libs also."

A CPU control app?

I've been looking around the forums and probably would want to flash some kernels soon. Is there any CPU control app that most HTC one users are using? I would like to try some of the GPU and voltage settings. Probably flashing elementalX kernel.

Hi,
[APP][HTCONE] Trickster MOD [Kernel Settings and Tweaks]... Works graet with all the custom kernel's here and support almost all the features coming from the custom kernel's (ElementalX, teamSeven) like thermal settings, logo2menu, s2w, overclock, underclock, CPU/GPU governor, etc... (except (currently) for some features from Faux123 kernel for the One).
+1 for TricksterMod, seems to work best with the custom kernels for the One.

As the others have said you can use Trickster MOD, but I also recommend trying faux's kernel with the faux kernel enhancment app. Both are great!
