i had an automatic update run through my wifi, then it got updated from the site,or i updated manualy, cant remmbr
but before the update i had all my music files in the memory can be read as ringtones too, like instead of sending them to the phone memory to make them ringtone,in mine was other way around,i didnt need to paste it in the ringtones while i could change without sending to that folder, understand me ? but now as i uptaded to the newest official upgrade on the HTC site,so i cant have this feature again, meaning i have to move my ringtones to the phone mem,
wanted to know if there is any way to get it back ?
anyone????
vipringtone something or nother.
Hello all,
I was wondering what causes a rooted Android phone to not use custom contact ringtones?
The ringtones I've assigned to my contacts have been pushed ( with adb push command ) to the phone's system memory, and I can see them in there using Root Explorer ( File Manager ). This only seems to happen when I use a task manager like Advanced Task Manager to End All.. uh... stuff running, I guess.
Is there a process or something that I can put on the exclude list to stop it from cutting off my custom ringers if that's the problem?
Oddly enough, even if I do End All of anything, my microSD card still uses my default ringtone on the phone, though, just the default ringtone, not even the custom contacts set from there work.
Here's a bit more info on what apps I normally use and phone info:
Advanced Task Manager
CacheMate
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Software: 2.27.651.5 ( Rooted )

So, first of all, did you push the custom ringers to /system/media/audio/ringtones/? (FYI, you know you can just put u'r custom ringtones to u'r SD card under /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones/ and you won't have to waste system space...) aside from that fact, you need to make sure u've pushed u'r ringtones to the system/media/audio/ringtones/ directory in the phone. Once you've done that, you shouldn't have any problems accessing them via android's native ringtone selector.
Thank you for the reply Androidious.
Yes, I pushed the ringtones correctly to /system/media/audio/ringtones/. Accessing them isn't the problem though, it's simply that there's a process that controls ringtones, and I'm trying to figure out which it is so I can put it on an exclude list from my Task Manager.
Here's a list of processes that run when my phone is turned on and everything is working:
Sprint Navigation
People
com.smithmicro.DM
Maps
IM
IM
Htc Checkin Service
Sprint Updater
Meebo IM
Updater
Note Me
CacheMate
Messages
Voicemail
Gmail
Settings
Is it possible that the People process controls ringtones?
Hey guys
So I have copied 2 custom sound files to my phone 1 for the ringtone and one for messages, they both show up and work fine when browsing via the ringtone selection menu however when trying to select either from the messages selection window they are not there ?
any ideas ?
You need to put new sounds in to right directory. Use root explorer.... For messages - system/media/audio/notification
Restart phone and new tones will be added to the list.

it would seem that directory is read only, do I need to be rooted ?

If you don't have just do a new folder it works,
/sdcard/Notifications
it will work as well for alarms and ringtones in COSTUM room with no root, it will work as well if you create in exsdcard...
Yeah, you're right, I'm always rooted and totally forgot about this. Thanks.
hi,
i'm currently using Android 4.2.2,
and while i'm sending files from my computer to my GALAXY S via Bluetooth i always have to accept the file in my phone in the notifications bar.
Is there any other way it will allow my computer to send a Bluetooth file with out me having to "accept" it in my phone?( i didn't have this problem on version 2.3.6 =])
