Hey all, I've been using a Meenova USB micro SD card reader for extra storage since my N5. After getting my N6, I've been noticing that after unmounting the drive and plugging it in to my computer, I get an error that the drive needs fixed. Run the fix and it's fine. I use Stickmount app to mount and unmount the sd card since it doesn't seem the kernels I have used support native USB OTG mounting. Just wondering if anyone knows why this is now an issue and if anyone else has run into this.

I tested mine went from NX6 to a Mac and then to a Win8 machine with no issues....
Yeah, I don't get it. I get it every time with every rom I've tried.
Did you try to format the SD card?

No I haven't. That's a good idea. If it's an issue with what's on the card though, wouldn't transferring that data back after formatting possibly put me back at square one?

Yes but at least you can discard it. As an alternative try another SD card, if you have one.

Thanks for your help. I'll give that a try.
Finally got around to formatting the card @mexiking713. No more errors. Thanks again for the help.

Hi All!,
Its possible only to mount one of the sd cards? My idea is only to mount the external card. I know there is an application that does this, but i was wondering if some of the custom rooms manage to do it without having to instal another application.
Thanks in advance
Why?

Perhaps i didn't explain clearly the problem...When i connect to the PC ,I liked to have only the external card available, because the internal is used to have some apps installed. by default it mounts both when i connect using usb cable.
There is. Disconnect it from the phone and stick it in a microSD card reader

Just stating that there probably is no such possibility
In general settings, in Storage menu, you can unmount internal sdcard, just do it before plugging your phone.

Some apps will not work properly, i.e Camera.
In Galaxy S2, the micro sd card placed near battery, so can't remove it without turn off phone.
Any ideas?
Thanks you all for the comments, but what i wanted was something like this apps:
Multi Mount SD-Card (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...tLnJhZm9pZC5tdWx0aW1vdW50c2RjYXJkLndpZGdldCJd)
This allows you to choose which sd card to mount when usb is connected.
I already tried and works very well... i just wondering if some custom rom/kernel already has it.
Thanks again for all your help.

I was having a certain issue and it was suggested I format my SD card.
I did and now it says it is damaged and won't mount. Can it be fixed or is it trash?

Be sure to format it using FAT32 and do it when it's
plugged into it's adapter and your computer.
Here is the windows fat32 formatter app which will
format your sdcard correctly using fat32:

Once it's formatted it should mount and work like new.
Good luck!

I had same issue. You can try the fat32 if not it might be time for a new card. Sorry but I never had fat32 work out for me. I have learned to buy card at best buy with the protection they offer so when it goes bad I just head over and swap it out. Saves on the headache of mailing it in and waiting for warranty replacement.
NOTE 4
Hey guys, there was a long time I wasn't copying anything to my SD card, and recently tried to copy few files to the card. I plugged it with USB cable throught my Z1, I could read files, but I couldn't write to SD card anything. I thought maybe something with software got damned, so I put my card into adapter and plug it into sd card reader in my PC. I was happy coz I thought my problem has just flew away, but after my files has been moved to SD card I refreshed explorer, and there wasn't any of my file, it was like I moved files to nowhere. After that I decided to format the card, plugged it into my phone went to settings and.. my phone couldn't format the card, free space hasn't changed at all, just nothing. I switched on my pc and tried it there, same thing, after starting formatting at the end I just got error message "Windows was unable to complete the format". Anyone know what is wrong? Sorry for my grammar.
I have some Sandisc card that do the same. After checking that manual write protection is off and trying to format with other tools also beside Windows default formating tool I haven't figured out how to bring SD card back to life.

Agreed. Though they have long warranty with sd cards.
So I can't seem to get my Micro SD card reader to work in the micro USB slot on my nexus 6 without mounting it with stick mount. Because of this I'm weary of wiping my phone like I want to before I flash the room and kernel I want to put in. Any ideas how to get the phone to recognize it without an app? Or has anyone used stick mount to mount, completely wiped EVERYTHING on internal memory and had no problems?

You'll need the app, if you haven't got a rom/kernel combination that supports this. Stock doesnt
OK. So maybe until I flash a room that supports it don't wipe all data?

Hi, I'm having this issue: I have stock camera configured to save photos to the external SD card and it usually works fine, but lately sometimes the camera is taking the photo but not saving to the card, without noticing. If I restart the device everything is fine until eventually it fails again.
Is someone having this problem? Thank you
Have you tried with a different SD card? Just to be sure yours is not faulty.

Remove all the data from the card and format it in windows, not quick format.
Put the card back in the phone, format it again in setting/storage, then move your data back on.
If this doesn't fix it buy a new card.
Today the card was damaged after mounting and unmounting and even the Pc didn't show the content. I recovered the data with the command chkdsk and now I'm testing using it with the phone. In the case that I have problems again I'll format and hope that I don't need to change it.

You need to turn your phone off before you pull the card out, likewise for putting it back in.

But there is an option to mount and unmount the micro sd, and a notification that say that is safe to extract the card.
Anyway I think that my problems began when I inserted a USB drive attached to an OTG adapter. I don't know why are mount and unmount operations offered if they don't work properly.
Thank you.

You can check your SD card by connecting it to a different device and see if it is corrupted or not. Also when your SD card is not being recognized in PC after connecting your SD card to your PC, assign a new drive letter to this connected card through your operating system settings.
Also please check that your Stock Camera firmware is upgraded since the concerned case could be a case of camera-card incompatibility also.

Thank you but chkdsk to recover data and then formatting was the solution. So far is working fine.
