After about a month of being rooted I decided to flash a custom rom, so I flash twrp then my custom rom which happened to be the wrong one because it was a bacon rom and I have a shamu phone so the flash didnt work (wish instructions would have made that more clear.) So after the first fail I flashed the CM12 updater zip thinking that would help but it didnt. So I go to restore my backup image, it was successful! After a successful restore I hit reboot to reboot my phone and from their it never came back up. My phone is dead as can be, no signs of life not a light or anything comes on. If their anything I can do or am I doomed. I do have insurance so I can get another phone, thats after a $200 deposit of course
With the phone off, what happens if you press and HOLD the lower volume key and the power button?

download any rom via your computer, and gapps. then boot into your recovery and adb push them to your phone. be sure its a nexus 6 rom, as thats all a nexus 6 can flash. or, boot into your bootloader and flash the factory img via fastboot.
generally, you shouldnt mod your phone until you learn all the basics about modding your phone.

nothing at all?
try plugging it in. let it sit for a minute. then press the power button, and keep pressing it for 20-30 seconds. then let go and press it normally. if nothing, then its dead
maybe the battery died?

its possible.
This happened to me. As hard as it was, I plugged it in and went to sleep. In the morning I could boot into bootloader, and I flashed stock firmware. I had to flash each file separately, as the flash-all file wouldn't work.

Thanks for the suggestions guys but I think my phone is dead to the water, had it on the charger for 6hrs and still nothing. Well its back to my tried and true Note 2 til I can afford $200 for a new phone :crying:
Why would you go through insurance when you have manufacturer warranty?... Unless you bought it second hand

So, what you are saying, is that he/she should commit insurance fraud? Man, look if you don't know what you are doing and brick/destroy your phone that is on you. Pay the money for a new one and learn your lesson. All you are doing is making RMA processes more and more difficult because of cheats like you. OP is to blame here if he/she flashed a ROM made for a different phone, that's on them not the MFG, Motorola.

He is right. People understand that you void your warranty when you flash your device. XDA doesnt condone fraud in any way shape or form. If you brick your device because you were messing with it then you accept it and buy a new one. Why do you think just about every rom thread tells you that you have now voided your warranty. Flashing your device is not something that should be taken lightly or done because it is cool.
so?

So is OK for them to sell phones to us that are defective? Anyway my phone had the
Screen burning and also the
Pink color issue when you lower the brightness I didn't fell like returning it because I had
Already set everything up the way I like it . so just like us they also have to face
The consequences which they do pretty good for me and should do for everyone we are
Taking about a 700 hundred dollars phone here not a 100 dollars phone ,I would like to see.
Those who are taking crap saying to buy another phone if they were in my shoes
I'm pretty sure they would have done the same so stop with that bs . return that phone get your new one end of story thanks.

OK well i was installing Darkys latest rom. I was at the point where i was in
download mode and odin. While odin was loading files the usb slipped out of the
phone because nothing besides the stock usb cord happens to stay firmly in the
charging port on this phone. This is the 2nd time this happed but when it
happened this time my phone just stopped working and by stop working i mean i
get absolutely no picture on the screen. nothing happens when its plugged into
power cord or usb cord. nothing. tried holding all 3 buttons in tons of times and
nothing.
Im out of warranty and got no insurance. I did get att to give me 180 credit cuz
i threatened to cancel. so if i cant fix this im gonna use a crappy prepaid phone
for the time being. If the SGS2 doesnt come out by march then ill probably get
an axtrix even tho i would rather get SGS2.
So please does anyone know of anything i can try?? i'm probably gonna goto an att store and try a new battery. Any suggestions would be appreciated???
You tried pulling everything, plug in usb, hold rocker, put back in batt? My understanding is, if you have the bad luck of that cable coming out while loading the boot loader then you r indeed SOL.

Double spacing isn't necessary. We aren't going to grade your post.
You hopefully now understand that flashing to stock isn't the way to avoid problems; it's the way to create big ones.
Try removing the battery, wait a couple of minutes, plug in USB, hold volume up+down, while holding up+down insert the battery and see if that gets you back into download mode.

I tried all that. Ive probably flashed every single rom in the development section of the forum.
If it gets unplugged while doing an update then usually it displays the phone..!..computer picture and you can still get into download mode from there. I'm getting nothing tho.
the reason i think it could be the battery is because it may have been pretty close to dying which is stupid for flashing when it was close to dead but i wanted to hurry up because i had to leave the house. i'm wondering if since the software on there now is corrupt would that make the phone unable to charge. thats why i want to try a new battery

yeah i know my buttons work, i just cant get my phone to turn on at all. also tried multiple chargers and usb cables. I think i'm screwed. im hoping someone on here heard of this problem before but ive never read anything about it on here before.
Using a POS phone till the SGS2 comes out is gonna suck
anyone know anything?
I will be trying another battery today.
Besides a jig, I have nothing else for you sorry.
But on a different spectrum, if you do get a new phone, dont get the atrix, it is the worst phone out of all the phones coming out on att. Get the inspire our the infuse if you dont want to hold a dinner plate to your head.

phone needs to be able to power on for a jig to work.
how are you out of warranty? (besides the custom rom) the phone has a 1 year warranty and it is not been on the market that long.
if the phone *happened* to be *dammaged* in a way that they would never notice AND would NEVER be able to read the memory (with out spending thousands of dollars), THEY WOULD NEVER KNOW you flashed custom rom and voided your warranty. they would try to test it, nope, broken, NEXT...
and SGS2 expected in june

yeah your right i still am in warranty but 2 weeks after i got the phone i dropped it and the screen cracked but the cracks not that bad. So i cant warranty the device because the crack. I did get att to give me $180 credit on my bill. $30 of every 6 month.
Ive heard the international version of the SGS2 will be out long before the att version will be. So i might use my upgrade on an iphone 4 and then sell it and buy the international SGS2.

Ok i know there is probably something already out there but im REALLY FREAKING OUT. I updated to 1.8 and throughout the day it killed my battery and i got home and was gonna flash back to 1.5 and while RSD was flashing it failed. I then realized i forgot one of the most important steps... To have a full battery.. i think my phone died while flashing... is it bricked? If so im f************cked... please respond.
If i did brick it, is there anyway i can contact moto support and get a new device?
Edit: I unplugged it from my pc and pulled the battery and plugged it back in. My pc recognizes it as a USB Mass storage device... is there still hope for me?
Ok so after sitting here for a while my phone booted back up i did notice that RSD lite managed to create a image thing? Idk what that is so im just guessing that maybe thats what saved me cause i could have sworn i read that it would for sure brick your device. Run on sentence. Spare me grammar Nazis. Anyways the phone is back up and running and you can be damn sure im going to charge this all the way before i try anything like that again. thanks for the quick responses and sorry for making a new thread for this... feel like i spazzed out if a mod could remove this thread?

I cant answer the other question because I dont know, but if you have insurance or whatever its called on your phone if it really does turn out to be bricked then you could have it replaced using that... (from what I heard if you do have that you only get like 1 or 2 replaces before they wont let you do it again for the year just an fyi)
and I mean insurance through AT&T not moto

I would first try and re-flash it... but if it does not work then I leave that up to you and your conscious about getting insurance for it after its already messed up and stuff... but I would suggest even if you do get it to work, you may want to invest in that if you plan on doing a lot of developing on it or anything like that, which gives you a chance to brick your phone.
Looks like my HTC One is bricked.
What pisses me off is I didnt do modify anything except S-OFF couple of weeks ago before the 4.2.2 update.
All stock.
Was about to turn off my AC with the One, and it just would turn on.
Charging light is off, connecting it to PC shows its identified as QHSUSB_DLOAD.
Seems like it's qualcomm download mode. No ADB no Fastboot, no nothing.
No idea what happened to it.
QPST software detects it is in Qualcomm download mode, and probably allows flashing a new boot image and phone image. Any idea how to push the boot image to the phone using QPST?
Thanks,

If it's a dead emmc chip then I reckon you will still be covered by warranty if it's a corrupted hboot and you send it back I guess it's down to HTC to decide but whatever happens I hope you get your phone back up and running soon.

Well indeed a dead emmc chip there is nothing I can do. Also, I did not unlock the bootloader and it's not tampered, so I suppose they should also cover it. The only thing is I bought it off Amazon France, and live in Israel, so the warranty procedure will be a pain in the a**.
If you can't turn it on neither can HTC...
Warranty should be fine. If it broke after running OK without you doing anything it's most likely emmc
I assume you have tried
1) holding power button down for 10 to 20 secs (whilst shining s bright light on phone - seriously)
2) immediately after step 1 then hold down power button whilst holding volume down button.

The bright light trick works, something to do with the sensors. Worth a shot anyways.
Also, if you bought from Amazon, why not just return it to them as defective and get a full refund? They have a great return policy, and you won't have to worry about HTC warranty at all. Just a thought.

Well, lucky you suggested that. First I found out the phone im using was from Amazon.de and not Amazon.fr (I ordered from both, kept the first to arrive and sold the second). Amazon.de seems to have a much better return policy and I can still probably return it if I understand correctly with my poor German and Google Translate.
The only bummer is that I wont get back the taxes paid (We have 35% tax on cellphones). But if I have a problem with HTC warranty (Although probably shouldnt have), I'll just return it to Amazon.

hey guys, so i have the newest lp bootloader, i installed microkat for testing purposes, then i saw blisspop v3.0 is out, then i downloaded, flashed and it was well over 20 minutes, so i pressed and held power button to get out of the stuck flash process, and then when i go to do power button + vol down to get into recovery it just powers off the device, i do have a low battery, and alot of the fastboot stuffs say low battery, so i left it to charge then i flashed this all + twrp 2.8.6.0:

7% won't do it. You don't have an old charger laying around? Even my Motorola Bluetooth charger will charge the moto. I've got 8 or 10 old chargers and only one of those won't work.

Thing is no matter what charger i use i have to fiddle it and theres no sure way if it will charge, my device now wont even boot up, i think its the battery issue but ive tried 4 chargers, all of them are the same, no sure way if my phone is charging or not... i think ill submit it to warranty, problem is i have local warranty not Motorola one, so they have different rules, they only accept devices that are not "jailbroken" (thats what the warrenty rules say, so i will see what they can do, maybe some nice talk will get me in there good books lol
@Pizza_Dox
Oh man, I seriously hope that your phone gets fixed man
We dont wanna lose a good dev

In the US Motorola warranty is void if u unlock the bootloader and root it...Which I have done...But when I needed a new screen (because of a bad pixel) they didn't care and got me a free replacement
Try calling Motorola and say "I was updating to lollipop (with 80% charge) and all of a sudden the phone went black ....Blame Motorola.....I used a similar excuse when I bricked my S3 and Samsung bought it....
Hope all goes well

Haha well im going out soon to take it to the local retailer here to get it fixed, im sure they wont say no, since its not software issues, its hardware hope to get it fixed soon lol
So I hard bricked my note 4, nothing works.
I called T-Mobile, they said they will put am insurance on my phone and give me a replacement.
So $8 for insurance and $5 for processing fee.
I only told them the device wouldn't power on, they didn't ask me if I rooted my phone or not.
Today, I got my new phone, and about to send my bricked one in.
So will T-Mobile be able to tell I rooted my phone even after a hard bricked?
Will they charge me if they find out?
I don't think so because the device is unable to boot therefore no trace ever rooted jmo

Unless they somehow flash stock and get device to boot up, they can check knox counter
Then the device is not brick. It depends on the brick soft or hard
How do you know the device is bricked?
U can't Odin anything flash nothing like a phone with no soul u can't get the soul back into the phone. Hard brick. Soft brick u can still rivive the phone but idk how never bricked one

You haven't lived until you've bricked a phone. I have not heard of ANYONE hard bricking a Note 4 yet though.
How was the phone bricked?
Lol I hope I don't brick one lol

Wiped everything else beside external sd card through TWRP, then flashed TEKXodus custom ROM through TWRP.
Clicked reboot after it finished, it never rebooted.
I tried everything, no signs of life.
Got a replacement phone through T-Mobile Premium Handset Insurance, have to send the old one back.
Scared they will find out it was customized.
Should I damage the micro USB port on purpose to render it useless?

You can't boot into recovery or anything? Does the screen come on at all?

I tried EVERYTHING, no download, no recovery, no nothing.
It's just a black screen.
Think T-Mobile will find out?

Doubt it. Don't intentionally break it. They may catch you at that. If the screen won't come on you are probably fine. When you connect it to your computer does your pc recognize it? Try that first. Only reason I say that is if I were you I'd want to wipe the data from the phone, otherwise some tmobile tech is going to look at all your picture and everything while they reflash the phone.

Ohhh, I'm just scared that I would get charge for it
Going to deny that I modified anything.
Learned my lesson now, not more flashing, I'm too stupid for that, lol.
Being a T-Mobile customer for almost 8 years, hope they were drop the charge even if they do find out.
My computer don't recognize the phone.
I wiped the system and everything before stupidly flashing a custom ROM.
Pretty sure there is nothing on the device.
But my knox is still tripped.
Should I worry about my knox?
I really don't think they'll know/care. I recently jumped from a Note 10.1 with a cracked screen to a Tab S2 in a store ($175 deductible ). The Note was rooted w/ custom rom and I just straight up factory reset it in the store right before trading it in and had no problem at all.
If you're sending it in on an insurance claim I think you might be sending it to Assurion rather than Tmo, who I think cares even less. Either way, you should be fine. Nothing to worry about
Yea what he said

But you are doing a jump, and the device is working.
In my case, my phone wouldn't turn on, they might consider it's software problem and check it.
Going to cross my finger :/
Tmobile doesn't ever check for root in any circumstance. They only check if the screen is cracked or if the phone powers on.
It is a possibility that they will check, however it is remote the fact is they've already sent you a new phone.
No, they don't care. I talk to the girl in Tmobile all the time about it and they never check, they are told it doesn't matter. And the fact that I've rooted every person at the stores Note 3 and Note 4 for them.

You're all good, breh. I've sent in plenty of rooted phones under warranty and have never been flagged. Nobody gives a d*** about that stuff, they're just trying to get through their day and go home.
