So I have Nexus 6 and every time I flash something and wipe data I get the new lollipop option to restore from a previous phone, you know apps, etc.. Does anyone know how to delete old backups.. I have some from previous phones that I don't even own anymore.. Also out of all the times I have gone through that screen not once has offered me the option of restoring from my previous nexus 6 backup.. So my question is twofold how do I delete old backups and how do I get my Nexus to show up in this backup screen?
Thanks for any advice!
To my knowledge there isn't any way to manage those. Now if I could just see some of my N6 backups when I do a clean flash. All I see are my old devices. FWIW, this seems to be a pretty common problem on Shamu and AOSP roms.
I think you can only erase all backups, not selectively via the Google web interface

That would be great if I could delete all of those.. I don't have any of those devices anymore.. I tried searching through my google account.. I found ways to de-authorize old phones from my google account yet that didn't delete any of those backups..

I don't see the ability to delete devices. But you can remove them from being visible in your list. You need to go to the GPS online, not through the app.
To the right, under your icon/picture is the gear symbol. Click it and select Settings. Then it should show your devices. Uncheck the boxes and those devices shouldn't show anymore.

That doesn't remove them from this list. I have already done that with old devices.. Why Google makes it so difficult to remove old devices is beyond me.. What also doesn't make sense is that it never adds my Nexus 6 to that list..
well i found the way to delete all of those backups.. I still don't know why my N6 or any of my current devices don't show in that list, but at least I found the way to delete them.. Only draw back is that apparently you can't pick which ones you want to delete.. it's all or nothing oh well..
For anyone else looking for this you have to go to your google account dashboard (not android device manager in google play store) expand the "android" tab where it lists your devices. At the bottom of that list there is a link to delete all backup data.. click that and you're done no more backup options in the Lollipop setup process..
I just did mine and reset my N6 to test.. Now it would be great if my Nexus would start getting backed up and show up on that list..

That's where thought it was but I couldn't see it when I was looking last to answer. Odd.
Go to the web browser and search dashboard.. (Google).. Its there that you can view all data related to your account..e.g contacts, backed up data etc..

The delete button a previous post @lazarus2297 said was there to delete all backups under the Android tab in Google Dashboard. I just looked for myself and have no option to delete them either.
I had the option to delete.. once I hit that option it was gone..and has of now failed to reappear. Its weird because I have the backup option turned on on all my current devices..and yet when I reset my Nexus 6 and go through the setup option it doesn't even offer me the option to restore. I have no idea how to get a device to show in the back up list.. and I also have no idea why those devices that were listed in my restore option were there.. This is one area Google could really improve in.. The way they track devices in the device manager history is all kinds of messed up...

Ok, this worked for my on both my MyTouch 4G and My T-mobile Samsung Galaxy tablet. First off go to http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011 with is the site where you download the app from. Click on your name and go to your account settings. Somewhere on there will have a list of devices that you've used to sign into that app store with. Even if it's the same device, it comes up again or if you change roms it comes up as something else, there is an option below each one to deactivate it. When you click deactivate device, it will disappear within about 15 seconds. Do so with each one. I had about 20. I deleted every single one of them. Then I sent the email to my phone and tablet to download the amazon app store again and I installed it on both devices, and they both work fine now. I know these directions were kinda vague, it's because when I went back to look where it was that you see all of your devices and I've already deleted it. So look around in account settings and on the page where you enter a phone number or E-Mail, it sends the link too download it. It worked great for me, If someone else can do this and explain it better than me, feel free, any other questions, I'll try and help the best I can, [email protected] .
So basically go to that site on the link that I provided at the beginning of the post. Find where all your devices are stored, it's on the right side, click the button that says deactivate device below it, and it about 15 seconds it will disappear. Now delete EVERY one of them. All of them. Then put in your phone number or Gmail address then re-download the app-store then you should be able to sign in fine, let me know how it works and if someone can explain this better than me please do,
again I hope this helps, It should work on all devices,

I hope that helps you guys out,

This worked for me, and I just went into application settings, did a force stop, clear cache, and wipe data. Then re-started amazon app store, signed back in, and it is working fine again.
just open all your lines and it will work..

I can't thank you enough, I have been going out of my mind the past few days wondering what to do to sign into my amazon account
thanks again!
Thank You Patrick!!!!
OMG! This has been driving my crazy! I even sent an email to amazon- they couldn't help. A simple general google search brought up your thread Patrick and it was a great fix My work around was just reinstalling the old data from titanium backup. But on my new galaxy nexus I didn't have any backups for it. Your fix Worked like a charm! I am a happy camper thanks to you Patrick. :victory:
Did I say thank you???
The Music Beta by Google app seems to be giving me issues. I have been using it since it launched on the Xoom without any kind of problems until now. It is telling me that I have too many devices connected to my account. That doesn't make any sense because I know for a fact that I do not have more than 8 devices or computers connected to my account like it's telling me I have. I know for a fact that I have my Xoom, my Droid, and my computer all connected to my Music account. And that's it! Nothing else.
Now I can't use Music Beta on my Xoom... and I don't know why it would be saying that when I know it's false. This is the only app that is giving me problems. Screenshot attached...
UPDATE: The problem has been resolved by me! Check out the post below to see...
I have fixed the problem! I am rooted, of course... and it turns out that every time I wiped data on my Xoom, and then signed back into my Music Beta account on a fresh new install, it would add my Xoom to my list of devices again. My Xoom was actually listed 7 times on the Music Beta device list, followed by my Droid... which is a total of 8 devices. That explains everything!
To fix this:
Just log into the desktop version of Music Beta by clicking here, go into settings, and then you'll see a place to manage your devices. Just remove the multiple device entries from the list, and then... presto! We're back in business!
Important Lesson Of The Day:
If you own a Xoom, are rooted, wipe data a lot, and you use Music Beta a lot... you will want to make sure that you check out your device list right away. I can almost guarantee that your Xoom is listed more than one time. If there are multiple device entries of the same thing, just remove them off your list. It's that easy!
And if you don't do this... eventually you will end up hitting 8 devices total like I did. Then you will have to remove at least one device entry from the list before you can use it again, because you are only allowed 8 devices at a time, even if it just so happens to be the same device listed 8 different times. Just be aware of that situation and you won't ever have a problem.
If anyone has found this information useful or informative, please give me a thanks. Also, leave any comments if you have any. Thanks all!
i experienced a similar situation with the kindle app, every time i wiped and reloaded the kindle app, it thought it was a new xoom, so i had 6 tablets on the account.

Nah it's cool. You need to click the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the Music Beta page while you are logged in, and then hit music settings. You can then see the page that has your devices on it. Done.
Thanks for finding this. I couldn't figure it out. Would work fine from my laptop, but not on my EVO or my Thrive. Was making me a little crazy.
Thanks for this. Since I've only wiped my Xoom once, it was listed once...but my D3..listed multiple times, cuz of wiping
Thanks!!
Thanks for the fix, I got the notification last night and had no idea how since I only use Google Music on my PC and phone, hopefully they fix the issue of it automatically authorizing the same device multiple times.

Hopefully they do down the road. Each device has its own MAC address, so it should be fairly easy to allow it to differentiate between same devices so that they will not make the list more than once. It should not be difficult for it to identify a device that is already on the list via MAC address, or so you would think so right.
Hello,
I always used the HTC Backup function with dropbox.
On Dropbox there was a folder called "App" -> "HTC Backup"
Now I want to switch to Google Drive and the backup to google drive was also successful, but I can't find a folder in Google Drive like in Dropbox?
Is this a bug or am I missing something?
Thanks

pretty sure it is hidden. If you go under the cog menu and choose manage apps, scroll down you will see htc one. But the size is very small, at least for me, so I am not sure what it is backing up. I never used the dropbox option so I am not sure how this compares.

If you got to google drive -> Settings menu -> Manage Apps you will find HTC Services.

Hey guys.
Title says it all. I have google play music and it's recording MULTIPLE nexus 6's.
To the point it locked me out of deauthorizing any devices, because I used up my 4 allowed devices (YES THIS IS STILL ACTIVE). I just talked to them - they said this is in effect and not going away.
So here's my question - how do I get it to stop adding multiple devices when it's the EXACT same device but different ROMs...
So not impressed. May leave google music.
Each time you load a ROM, your phone gets a new unique identifier. This is why you have authorized 4 devices. Either stop flashing or stop logging in. Same basic system as Apple.

Nope. Something changed then this year. It never did this before. I have a one plus one. Every new ROM NEVER once changed when I logged in from the phone. It always read 1 device. Never showed multiple. Same with my tablet (Samsung Tab S) and my Note 4.
PLUS if this was the case - would it not add another instance of your device if say.. an update was pushed that effected the kernel of the phone or when a phone went from 4.4 to 5.0 or when you factory reset your phone?

I'd like an answer to this as well, and a workaround. This could be an issue for a lot of people that use an otherwise fantastic service. Your assumption would also have to be correct... Any old user that says yes to a stock OTA update would be using up another slot when they reload Google Play Music.
Just a shot in the dark, did you restore the app+data from Titanium Backup, from Google's own sync, or start from scratch again?
If you restore from tb sometimes it won't register a new device, especially on 4.4.4 and earlier but with 5.0 this seems to be different. I had them reset my google music, but at this point I ended up switching to Spotify because its ridiculous that you can only register 5 mobile devices.

Always have started from scratch. May be going to Spotify soon. I'm going to try titanium and restore android ID. Never thought it would be 5.0, but that may be the culprit as well. Even though I did install CM12 on the 1+1 and never saw this issue.
All in all, this is a pretty stupid move from google. Guess I should of seen them bending over eventually.

Menu>settings>devices then delete away I have deleted many nexus 6's and 10's this way.

Yup ... So have I. Until yesterday. I could no longer revoke access, hence the reason for this post. I had to call Google and have them reset my music device count. Which you can only do once and you only get 4 device removal a year... Hence the problem.

It hasn't been doing that with any phone. But because I had 3 nexus 6 devices listed I got penalized and had to wipe my entire music account.

Since my first Android device, music has created a new device with each new ROM I installed and logged in. I just go i n occasionally and deauthorize the older ones. They alert me when I can't log in another. I never had more than 3 or 4 in Nandroids anyway. Definitely nothing new there. I LOVE Google Music! Rock on!

Things have changed. There are only 4 de authorizations allowed in a year time. So ... eventually you won't be able to de authorize anymore phones. Which means. IF new ROMs on the same phone create a new unique ID , you will not be using Google Music with your ROMs if you swap ROMs a few times a month.
Restoring the id with Titanium makes it not create a new device.
I've installed (clean wipe) 5+ roms on my Nexus 6, restored the id each time before opening play music, and only have one Nexus 6 on my device list.

THIS is what i've been waiting for. And how do you do the restore process?
Just backup Settings Storage? and ONLY restore Android ID from TiBu Menu Settings?
For me, after I open TB after installing a new rom it says the id is changed and asks me if I want to restore it. I say yes, it reboots, I move on.
I assume it has to see your TB backup folder to do that.
Also I use the pro/paid version of TB - not sure if that matters though.
Hey guys,
I`am having a problem with my Nexus 6 not beeing recognised in ADM and on the web Google Play site in device manager though it shows up in Google Play and syncing goes without problems. Running full stock MMB29V not rooted.
I contacted Google to look if the issue is beeing caused on their end because i tried everything else to solve the issue on my end.
Things i tried:
1.
1) Go into multitasking and close Android Device manager if it is open.
2) Open Google Settings app. Then go to Security. Uncheck both Android Device manager options. I believe they are Remote Erase and Tracking.
3) Go to Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Services. Clear cache and data.
4) Reboot
5) Back to Google Settings. Recheck both options.
2.
Did a data factory reset
3.
Reflashed the factory image folowed by a data factory reset.
4.
Booted up in safe mode.

Weird.
A friend had this same issue while trying to enroll - he got around this by adding a second Google account (you could create a new dummy account I guess if you don't have a second one already) to his phone, and signed up on the preview page using that account.

Could do that, but i want to know whats wrong my account (settings) or at the Google end and why it doesn`t link my phone to my account in the ADM.
Understood, and agreed. You'd want ADM to be able to locate your device in case it goes missing.
i'm exactly with this problem too on my nexus 6p.
i'm not able to see my device on ADM, keeps spining. already did all the troubleshooting i could find including the ones on the original post.
i do have another 2 google accounts on my nexus and no problem with them on finding the device in ADM and also the nexus is showing up on androidbeta enroll devices.
It might be something related with my primary google account since there is no problem on the other 2 google accounts.
The only thing that's different on my primary account is that it is protected with 2 step verification.
it's really weird and i really wanted to enroll to android N on my primary account.

My primary account is 2-step secured too. In Google Dashboard it also shows 2 Nexus 6`s , the primary secured one has the option to remove it from the account and the other non-secured one can`t be removed. Hope Google can solve this annoying issue.
I'm having the same issue. Even my second account doesn't show up.
i turned my location off, then my n6 stopped showing up in device manager. i turned on my location, and my n6 showed up in the device manager.
Tried that but no go

I tried everything humanly possible including your suggestion, at last i made a bugrepport and sent it to Google after contacting them and after investigation they can not determine the cause of the issue and they said they get back to me if they have a solution. I`am using 2 accounts atm so i can at least sign in properly.
