I managed to ding up my watch pretty bad crashing my skateboard and haven't been able to find any parts for the G Watch R. Does LG sell parts for it or am I stuck scanning ebay for a replacement housing?
ATM there are no spare parts available, We will see those slowly coming to market eventually.
Can you post a picture so I can see the problems? It's ruined that bad that it cannot be repaired?

It is just cosmetic, screen and device are fully functional. I'm very impressed with the durability, as I was going 20+mph and fell with all my weight on it
File the top of the bezel down smooth. It will look better and be a uniform gray circle on the bezel.

I used a higher grit sanding sponge until all the paint and imperfections were gone, then followed up with 3000 grit from auto zone. Used Mothers polishing cream to finish it off

Hi mates,
Because of 2 little dings and scratches on my phone, I'm looking for a new aluminium body spare part for my Legend but I can't find it anywhere...even in e-bay. What can I do?! Should I contact HTC support and send my phone to repair center?!?
Thanks
I would also like to know this...
probably the same location when the black legend comes out...
Same, I don't think we'll see any because it's an odd designed phone.
Found this:

NICE !
Now we just have to wait for the black one...
Has anybody had any luck finding the black housing yet?
Somebody find something?
haven't found one, but I do have an phantom black legend at my disposal.
My thoughts about it:
It looks very "bad", very nice, when I put my silver legend next to it it seems a lot smaller (the black one).
However I do have my doubts about the housing.
It isn't black aluminium its rather silver aluminium with a matt black coating.
So I'm afraid that the scratches are going to be silver...
The screen is surrounded with a silver edge just as ours.
Very nice housing but time will tell about the scratches...
Closest thing I could find

OK, despite being a bit more expensive, which I didn't see for a bad thing, the spare part that came to me from htcrepaitparts is awfull...I wrote them and e-mail to correct this mistake and we will see how they react, but I was very much dissapointed when I unpacked it...It was not anodized, but simply coated aluminum, the upper cover hiding flash, camera etc was a complete fake - there are no antennas inside, just painted "pads"...
the only thing looking decent is the battery cover...

So has anyone else find an authentic site that is able to sell the HTC Legend full housing yet? It'd be wicked if there was someone who would anodize these babies to a sexy red tinge. Hmmm
Here's the deal, I had an iPhone 3gs long time ago. That shiny metal frame around the screen was just not for me. I tought : "Why not brush this thing up?" I asked my friend Google (maybe in 2009) and did it. Just amazing.
What do you guys think about doing that on the nexus 4 ?
file it down to black maybe.. mines already dented.. looks really ugly! unless i paint it 0.0
If you want to, go for it. I'm also one of those that took some sandpaper to the chrome bezel because I also thought it was always scuffed pretty bad after normal use, and after doing that it looked awesome. Also helped with the resale value back when I got my first android device (Infuse 4G).
Main thing about the N4 though, to its benefit the shiny trim is a dark chrome, which imo looks right, plus mine is covered up by my case for the time I had it thus far and she hasn't got beat up too bad yet.
I say go for it, if it looks sweet, you'll probably be the founder of this technique and have a bunch of people follow. If not, it'll still be unique.

I did a little bit at the corner just to see how is it under the chrome. I'm sad it's plastic. Anyway here are some pics of how it looks like under the

There's this company that makes super tough protectors, it's called Rhino-something. It's so tough that it protects against drops and glass cracking and all.

Man, are you kiding ?
That's what people use as an alternative to protect their trucks bed instead of the plastic liner. Its what I got in mine(different brand). I've seen a truck had the whole paint job done with it... looks closer to a slight textured matte finish. The phone in that link was crap. If you do want something like this on your phone, look for the ones than have less texture/clumps. Speedliner is smoother and they also sell spray cans of that stuff at the auto parts store.

The back glass on my Nexus 4 broke some weeks back. Short term I placed a large sticker over it knowing that I wanted to eventually do something more permanent.
Over the weekend I cracked out the glass, then cut/shaped a Mahogany veneer back replacement. In total I made 4 backs because the first 3 failed in one way or another... The one I finally installed is not perfect, but my time was running out...
Time lapse of the process... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJyJMAYHteI
Enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions.
It's a little rough looking but I think the wood back is fantastic and would love to do that but i'm not sure of the science behind it. For instance, glass absorbs heat from the device.

Yes, the glass would likely be a better heat sink/transfer than this wood will be. I suppose I will have to watch that.
It is a little rough yes... in my defense this is the first time I have worked with veneer in this way. My skills and tools set have been found to be a little lacking...
I am thinking about what it would take to have one laser-cut.... (fells like cheating though... )
nice!
great job man! i got my nexus 4 a month ago and was dissappointed when i found no one doing what you did! my glass isnt cracked but i was considering making a back out of plexi glass and putting a picture under it or maybe leaving it clear. How hard was it to copy the camera and speaker holes? If you have any tips id greatly appreciate it
I wish that I had searched/seen this before I started... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40054899
I was thinking of doing something similar but with carbon fiber. Would you happen to have measured the thickness of the glass back? I've been searching but haven't found an answer. I'd like to know this before ordering my material and starting this project.

I didn't measure the glass, but I did measure the inset where the glass sat, it came out to .02" thick.
The veneer I used started at .04" thick after a little sanding a few coats of spar urethane it is /just/ taller than the inset.
Another point of interest I forgot to put in the original post...
I moved the flash cover over the camera and left the flash led exposed... I figured the camera needed the protection more than the flash did... So far I have not seen any real degradation in quality of photos...
nice!
itd be cool if you managed to etch the nexus logo on the wood.

Just talked to a friend who runs a small laser-cutter shop... He is confident that he can etch the veneer. I think I would want to etch something more personal than "NEXUS" though...
I was thinking if I went with a wood back, I'd do a little woodburned engraving. It would add a little grip as well to the back.

I have seen reports of the CPU reaching 106 deg F. Certainly not enough to catch fire to the wood, but possibly enough to discolor it. As stated earlier the wood will not transfer the heat the way the glass would. However, I don't figure that wood is any worse than the plastic backs you find on most other phones...
Could you just use one of those instead and use glue to fix it? I don't know what it looks like under the glass.
http://dbrand.com/submodels/nexus-4
I think those are designed to sit on top of the glass... nice looking but I doubt they are thick enough to replace the glass.
I think it looks decent.

Does anybody know if the red trim around the front of the employee edition is removable? I pretty much baby my phones and it already has several nicks and places that the color has been knocked off. It's really cool looking but apparently really easy to mess up also. I actually thought about taking it off and painting it black.

Hi,
The red trim is a part of middle chasis that is glued to display/digitizer assembly. The middle chasis is sold seperately but taking off display and sticking it back to new chasis requires professinal skills. You would probably save a lot of time and effort by taking off the remaining red trim and make it all bla ck, much better if you ask me.

Not sure how that scratch video helps with this problem. But know not just you. My red is peeling away silver in a few places, down to the black plastic in others. I wonder if you could buy the adhesive foil in red again from somewhere. Otherwise I guess a coat of fingernail polish is probably the next best thing.

Ha ha good timing then. Yours looks nice too. I agree that it's an easy to apply skin. The tops and bottom was a pain. The key I found is use a little more heat on the tabs. My top doesn't look as good as the bottom. With the extras I'll just replace it if it bugs me too much.

Are you able to use your case with the skin?
All designs are looking awesome!
How well do these skins typically hold up in respect to edges peeling up, etc. i do not like using cases but would need a skin on an aluminum bodied phone.
My main concern would be the edges peeling back up due to use and pulling out of pocket all the time, or even just moving around in the pocket.
I have used another type of skin before and sometimes it does ok but other times it only lasts a day. Granted the skin i used did not fully wrap around to the front, more for back protection

So far the only issue or disappointment I have is with the front. It picks up the dust and hairs from my pocket and did get the side edge of the front screen to shift some. The back I have no complaints. No shifting, peeling, or residue collecting hairs like the front.
For longevity someone who's had these skins on longer will need to chime in. This is my first experience.
