[SOLVED]
Hi all,
I want to disable the camera shutter sound on my P7, and since it's not possible through settings, I've learned that I need to change the name of the audio file, so that the system can't find it and thus won't play the shutter sound.
I'm running MyROM 3.2, B609. It should go like this:
1) I've downloaded ES File Explorer, checked all root settings and I'm able to read and write.
2) I go to /system/media/audio/ui/ and change the name of this file: camera_click.ogg.
3) ES File Explorer confirms the renaming, and the file name has changed.
4) Rebooting phone
5) System boots, and the file name hasn't changed.
It seems as if the system keeps restoring the file name each time I reboot, though I have access to writing, renaming and whatnot. ES has Superuser access, too.
Any suggestions?
I did it by just deleting the file haha it works for me. Goodluck

I just realized that you are absolutely right.
Unfortunately this does not apply to my main camera-app, which is Google Camera.
I don't get it. I can also delete the file, ES Explorer confirms, and the file is gone. However it reappears after rebooting. :s
Any tips?

Hmm.. I have MyROM v3.2 installed, which should be 100% rooted. In fastboot it says Phone Unlocked and set_immutable.list is removed. Likewise, RootGenius tells me my phone is rooted. I don't get it.
SuperSU is installed, and terminal displays an $, but when I type "su" it displays "[email protected]:/ #". So it should be rooted, right?
Not sure how it cannot be rooted?

Have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/general/rooted-p7-l10-609-t3003605
You're suffering from a 99,5% root. You'd have to temp flash a 608 custom kernel and when you're done return to 609 stock kernel.

It worked. Thanks a bunch. :good:
Do you know how a phone can become rooted, but not fully rooted - as in 99,5% rooted?

Good stuff. Honestly i have no idea myself.. seems there's some kind of "watchlist" lodged in the kernel. I'm guessing the rom carries the default stuff, from there it gets restored.

I used Root Uninstaller PRO and another program called Root Uninstall, I was able to delete most of the bloatwares except CSL Fun Club and Blueberry Store. These give an error Cannot Uninstall. Any Ideas.
Did root explorer clean this up ? Can you give me a download link to this root explorer ?
Was able to successfully Delete (Not Uninstall) the APK files of CSL fun Club and Blueberry store using Root Explorer ! Hope this is the right way ! Now I do not have any of the 'extra fittings' from GB update. Hope somebody can post a list or point to a link in the forum of these Extra Fitting to be removed !

Observed something today, I installed Rom Toolbox, it asked for Superuser persmission and when I clicked on allowed, it popped a message saying that busybox is not installed.
What is this and why is it coming. I did not see this problem with any other root applications.
I am on CWM and using used su-2.3.6.3-efgh zip file to root.
Also font change via ROM toolbox is not getting effected, I had no problems while on RC2 update.

Apps : check my root - says: - phone is not rooted... so, any idea what happen?
did you root it?
did you unlock the bootloader?
how can I check if bootloader is unlocking?
OK, I open Service menu and under Configuration it says: Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed: No
So is not rooted, but why banking apps stop working and says: apps not working on rooted devices - before I install dr.Fone banking apps works with no problem.

Im guessing you were taken for a ride with this app. Ill try to help you out a bit. That app (dr.whatever) left files on your phone that are probably the problem. Use your file explorer to navigate to your internal storage, find the folder named Android. Inside you will see two folders named data and obb. Inside you will find all the data for your applications (each located within thier own folder). Look through these for a folder with the name or developers name (sometimes this can be tricky because there are no spaces in the file name, as well its usually initials or abbreviations.) Locate the folder and delete it, then reboot. Since your not rooted, you cant wipe your caches and data as we do so just try this out.

To be not rooted. Cos I cant use some apps, witch I use on regular basis.
If I take factory reset - it will be after unrooted?
I don't think that you are rooted at all, that Dr Fone app sounds fishy and bogus to me (as others have stated as well).
Best bet is imho to repair with PC Companion as greg has also mentioned. You could also try removing any superuser app that apparently is somewhere on you device, it might be that your banking app checks for this.
Edit:
That Dr Fone app is not even in my Play Store - I would probably opt for a factory reset, rather than repair. Sounds like malware to me. If you want to backup something from your device, stay with the regular, known and trusted apps!

Which apps can not be used on a rooted phone? I never came across anything I can't use on my rooted phone, as opposed to an unrooted one. Just the opposite is true. There are many apps and functions that do work on a rooted phone, which I would be missing a lot if I was not rooted.
Dr.Fone seems to have manipulated with your system. My suggestion is first using the Doomlord easy rooting kit. It works like a charm, and also allows unrooting later in case you do not need to be rooted. Then uninstall that Dr. Fone thing (and everything else you don't need).
Like some of the others I do have suspicions regarding Dr. Fone software. There are so many useful tools and apps from reputable sources you can use on a rooted phone, it is almost overwhelming. What made you grab such a dubious app?
Now it is already on the second page for a relatively simple issue which basically comes down to one point: Get rid of that Dr.Fone. Action required.
No offence intended.
Flash a stock ftf you definitely not be rooted anymore.
There are several apps that don't work on rooted phones, sky go being one of them.
It is generally done by apps that have copy right laws to enforce or subscription issues.

If I choose it will it stabilize the system so when I reboot it will keep root?
I had it all set up rooted and SuperSu and went to back it up so I could just use twrp recovery and restore it and still be rooted and just like it is after rooting and all.
I made the back up and did the required reboot and when it finished I lost root.

On Galaxy S Advance I9070? Check if you have USB debugging ON (when you said you lost root). This will not make it more stable, SuperSU.apk is just a GUI for controling root. And you root with SU file that is pushed to system (can't remember what folder exacly).

I had it rooted with Kingroot.
As far as I know that's the only way for this model of device.
Then using MrW0lf's method I replaced and removed Kinguser for SuperSU.
I was still rooted.
I wanted to make a backup so when using restore I could retain root and SuperSU in my system.
The setting of choosing to make SuperSU a system app in stead of as it is, I thought would make it possible to keep root.
I have used restore while having root with Kinguser and kept root.
I am not understanding why I loose root when restoring while having SuperSU.

I do not thing that moving SuperSu to System partition would help you. Main file that enables root permissions are not in that apk, you can install SuperSu from the Play store. That is not the problem.
Do you know why I loose root after a restore?

Edit: Lockscreen.apk and odex deleted with TWRP file manager (mount system before). V4a issue still there, even installing apk through TWRP as flashable zip.
Hi, I was trying to install viper4android on my device. The application is installed successfully, but I can't install drivers. After reboot the app asks me again to install drivers. I also tried to get stock android lockscreen deleting HTC lockscreen.apk. Successfully deleted, but present again after reboot. Should I need s-off to do that? With other models I did this without s-off. Indeed with soft reset, I get the Android stock lockscreen, but with a complete reboot I get the sense one again. Any idea or I just have to wait for a way to s-off?

You need TWRP recovery
Take backup (you'll never know what can happen)
Boot into recovery > mount > pick system
go back to the main menu, advanced > file manager
You'll find HtcLockScreen.apk and HtcLockScreen.odex in system/priv-app
I deleted them and voilĂ ! No more sense 6 Locksreen, stock android.

Are there no flashable drivers for Viper4Android like the rSAP app has?

Yes, but nothing happened, same result...
Are you sure? The rSAP App runs fine after flashing the drivers via TWRP.

Yes I am.. All the other mods work, except for this...
Where you found the flashable version of the app and drivers?

Link removed - not official version, sorry
But this is not a official version! This zip overwrite your audio configuration! Be carefully. I repaired it with the files from the "big" M8. Runs better than ever.

There was somewhere in the official thread in the faq a question like "i can't install it anyway? Then try with the flashable zip", it's the same zip that I posted.. Sorry, I'll give you the right link as soon as I find it... but as you solved it anyway, how did you do it?
After I repaired my phone, I never would like to use this app.
And then installed v4a? As normal app?
No, after this repair I was happy that my phone works again. Until there is no official ROM that I can flash or where I can extract the original files, I do not make any change on my phone again!
Confirmed - it's a problem caused by HTC's system write protection. Liberty Kernel solved the issue with viper4android.
But you need a new kernel. With the Android rSAP App you can create a flashable driver ZIP, I think this is the better way to install drivers for an App. They also create a uninstall ZIP.

I couldnt find drivers for v4a, i reflashed stock kernel after installing drivers, the problem was indeed system write, no incompatiblity or stuff like that the app is now installed and finally fully working!
I am happy with the write protection, because you never know, what the "driver installation" changed on your system. In a zip I can take a look about the modification and for example with the rSAP app I KNOW, that I can deinstall all modifications. But I dont know anything about Viper4Android. So I have to look for another DSP manager ...
