[Q] Aroma installers freeze on formatting partitions - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having problem installing ROMs with Aroma installer (it was working earlier and I missed the point when the things gone wrong). It just hangs on 'formatting partitions'. I've experienced this problem with to different ROMs: Android Revolution HD 90 and stock ROM from htc1guru.com
Manual formatting from recovery and backup restoration works just fine. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

What recovery version are you using?

It's in the original message
Recovery: TWRP 2.8.4.0, I've also tried 2.8.0.2 with no luck.

Got it working on TWRP 2.7.1.1, so in fact problem was in certain recovery version range

Strange, I have flashed it using 2.8.4.0 without any problem.

[SOLVED] Bootloader Bootlopp soft brick on Viper 5.8.0 and other ROMS

Solved here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51693017&postcount=14
I have this setup so far:
S-OFF Hboot 1.56 through Firewater.
Firmware 4.06.651.4
Unlocked bootloader, TWRP 2.7 and older versions I tried, as well as PhilzTouch (this one works better)
I can only recover from the brick by installing a rooted odex STOCK 4.06.651.4 ROM through PhilzTouch which let's me OTG, ADB sideload, and fastboot (TWRP only lets me adb sideload, but can't mount OTG or /data sometimes)
I think I need to install the stock ROM with a stock recovery in order to do it properly. Haven't tried yet, scared to mess up more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, I started off clean, unlocked bootlader, rooted , and flashed custom recovery with TWRP (root sometimes lost, have to flash SuperSU.zip manually sometimes).
Then I got S-OFF through Firewater.
Checked, and double checked MD5 matches, a good quality USB cable 2.0, different formatted clean PC and laptop to rule any of that out..
With a clean/nice ADB/fastboot connection, I proceeded to install ViperOne 5.8.0 | 4.19.401.11 | Android 4.4.2 Sense 5.5 through TWRP as per instructed in its official post (it redirects here from the HTC One Sprint thread)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334294
It installs fine until the last Finish option to reboot into the first ROM boot up, and it never gets inside, it just bootloops the bootloader forever.
--------------------------------
Possible thought I still don't understand:
In the Viper ROM there seems to be a firmware version in the tittle: 4.19.401.11...
Does that version have anything to do with mine? Currently 4.06.651.4, with an annoying update prommpt to 4.06.651.9 that downloads, bu never installs (possibly need stock recovery for that)
Is Any ROM firmware specific in order to install? I read that the latest TWRP had issues so I tried many older version to no avail...
Do I need to go back to an earlier firmware, and then update to the latest with the radio as well?
What am I doing wrong?
I would suggest running the 4.06.651.4 RUU and starting fresh. I know it sucks but...
From there you can take the OTA if you want to...then you will be current.
Then you can unlock and flash recovery again.

No OS installed on TWRP trouble

I keep getting a No OS installed error on twrp. Yesterday I install a 5.03.651.3 rooted rom through TWRP. I think I deleted the wrong files so I installed a stock 4.06.651.4 from a ruu then I did a ota update to 4.06.651.9. After that I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP 2.7.1.1. I have done noting more after that. Can someone please help me fix this problem?
Thanks
TWRP 2.6.3.4

When I installed TWRP 2.6.3.4 the error stopped showing up. Does that mean that there is a problem with TWRP 2.7.1.1 and my phone is fine?

[Q] Downgrading TWRP

I have TWRP 2.7.1.1 installed on my M7 but would like to downgrade to TWRP 2.6.3.3, is it safe to flash the new recovery image with fastboot and will the backups I made with 2.7.1.1 be backwards compatible with 2.6.3.3?
The reason I want to do this is to re-flash the new modified firmware on my device so it displays properly in the bootloader screen and because 2.6.3.3 reads all of the partitions properly.
Thanks.

Appreciate it. I have already flashed back to 2.6.3.3 and reflashed firmware to get the OS to show up in the bootloader. Worked perfectly.

[Q] Recovery issue or something else

Long story short, I was not able to flash any third party ROM since I got my htc One (M7)
HBoot 1.57
S-Off (through SunShine, paid USD$25)
Recovery: TWRP 2.8.0.2, CWM 6.0.4.8
Tried ROM: ARHD 81.0, IncertCoin 4.0.4, ViperOne 7.0.1
No matter which recovery, which 3rd party ROM, always end up with set metadata recursive: some changes failed in TWRP, and error in CWM.
I always factory reset before flash, and I have used ARHD / InsertCoin since Desire / One X. Used other ROMs on Sony Z1.
One (M7) is the only one gave me troubles!
From what I have Googled, using latest recovery should be okay.
However I am using latest TWRP and CWM, still same error.
Now I just have stock ROM, rooted through TWRP, delete lots of stuff from system/app.
Really want ARHD, ODEXed, all nice things from 3rd party ROM.
Please help!

Try TWRP 2.6.3.3, it seems to work best with close to stock roms. I would choose wipe in Aroma during the installation rather than factory reset.
Get TWRP 2.6.3.3: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
(make sure MD5 is correct, that site does not play nice with download managers)
in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
TWRP 2.6.3.3 does work!
This is very interesting! TWRP 2.6.3.3 is almost 10 months old comparing with 2.8.0.2.
How come older version works, but latest does not?
TWRP 2.7.1.1 works for me too, so far the only major release which does not work is TWRP 2.8.0.2

you can't flash CM12 with twrp 2.6.3.3. Everything explained in the CM forum. Update your recovery.
