Autobrightness/brightness performance under sunlight - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yo XDA people! Whats up! ?
Im just asking about brightness performance under sunlight, or outdoor settings. To be hones my M7 is not as good as I thought on this settings.. it shows lots of reflections.
I just saw my friends Xiaomi MI4 next to mine, I was blown away by the performance of their brightness.. mine was already in 100% yet easily taken down by MI4 50% ??
But i still love my phone and would love to see some improvement in this area
Any thought? ?

Is eco mode turned off? Its the only thing I can think about. There's not much improvement to do, the display is built like this.

The HTC One

Hey guys I'm in need of an upgrade and I think the HTC One is the answer!
I was wondering if you could please give me feedback on your experience so far.
All I know about the cons like
Can't change battery
No SD card...
So how is the battery life etc??
Thanks

Battery life is normal. Like another smartphone. Not as good as SIV but normal. Day and a half with normal use... Is no SD card, bad thing but 32 or 64 gb is a good amount of space. Performance for me is the best smartphone. Is absolutely awesome .
Buuut camera... Is a not bad camera, but like you can read one time and another in this forum, camera have a lot of issues and problems....

like already said, with normal use you'll get 1,5 days out of it. the camera issues are not present on every device (purple dust on very dark pictures) and we don't exactly know if it's a software or a hardware issue. we'll see if it got fixed when 4.3 comes out officially.
i exachanged my i9500 to one 802w dual sim and batt life is THE SAME. That means in 9500 batt life is worse that htc one international.
I have the black HTC One and my girlfriend has the silver.
Both running Android Revolution HD 21.0 and Elemental X kernel 5.2
Both our phones will last a whole work day starting at 9am and ending around 8pm. She's a real estate agent so she's always on phone calls and I do IT so I use mine primarily for scheduling, web browsing and text.
Phone is fast, camera is absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend this phone enough!
I've had mine for a little over a month and love it.
I find that the 32gb is enough for my apps, music and some movies (even if you need some more space there are external storage options).
I haven't had any serious issues with the camera in my device although focousing in low light can be a hastle - by the way the burst feature is fantastic. Something to be noted although the camera is only 4mp the quality of those pixels is very good. HDR is a really great option too if you have a steady hand or a place to rest your phone while you take the photo.
I had a bit of trouble wraping my head around the Sense UI but Apex fixed that in a jiffy. On the subject of Sense I do have a slight fondness for the lock screen and use it.
Now I will be the frist to admit this was a huge step up from my old LG Optimus Black but this is a serious piece of hardware.
I have nothing else to add on what's already been said expect there is a way around the purple haze in low light camera shots. All I do is lower the iso in the camera app to 100 or 200 and use the flash. Works a treat till a fix comes along. This doesn't work in HDR camera mode though as the iso isn't adjustable in HDR.
Apart from the above the phone is fantastic and feels well built. Take the plunge and get one, you won't regret it!

Note 2 Stolen.. Should I buy THE ONE!

Here I am again guys..
My samsung NOTE 2 has been lately stolen .. And I am in the process of looking for a new phone that could be as pleasurable as the note 2.
My eyes have been set on the HTC one for some time now, but most of the reviews are making me shaky about that decision.. So what do you guys think? Should I go for it.. PROS & CONS? Camera, speed, etc?
Camera great, speed amazing. You might dislike the battery life coming from the note. Other then that, go for it.

Battery is actually better then on note 2 ...
As for camera take a look at photo thread many photos there , speed well lol ... If you ever used vanilla 4.3 sense 5 on 4.3 is even faster , it's pretty much faster even then s800 devices regarding the system speed , screen is miles ahead of anything currently available , speakers are out of this world and build quality / design is unmatched , gaming lasts about 4 / 4:30 of asphalt 8. Feel in the hand is awesome , updates are very fast this year , we have both sense and ge already on 4.3 a month ago so it's on par with n4 , the only thing you'll maybe mind is screen size since you're coming from note 2 , gaming is of course better on larger screen , tho performance of the one in games is way ahead of note 2.
And lastly if you care about flashing / development one pretty much has the best roms period , if you like customisation nothing on xda comes close to viper rom. It simply had everything you can think of and more. Dig thru some threads a bit , the best thing would be testing the device yourself in a store.

this is why I love the forums around here because I can always get an argument and results So why is it better or worse then the note 2?

Its better because its faster, better camera, WAY better build quality, and I hate touchwiz. If you want a large phone, then I would wait for the One Max. Its supposed to come out on Oct 15 according to rumors.

exactly the things i wanted to hear! I think I am going for this phone .. and to be honest I was kind of getting bored with the huge note 2 screen! thank you for all the things you have said .. it really helped !
You have said it yourself this device is THE One
1. the performance is amazing ... it can handle whatever you throw at it no matter what and it handles multitasking with ease
2.the camera is amazing what ever you you do the photo comes out great
3. 32GB on board .. "i would prefer the 64GB " but its really big unless you shoot a lot of videos
4.the feel when you hold the device is uncomparable its amazing
5.the speakers are great ... i used to listen through headphones but now i only watch shows on them
6. the screen is great but when i applied a screen protector some of the visibility in the sun is gone
cons "before you buy"
1. check the camera for low light shots coz some of them produce pinkish effect
2 check the speakers for crack and pop at high volume

Nexus 5 Battery Results

Post your screenshots with a description of the test you used.
I'm doing a low to medium usage test with Bluetooth, Location Access on High accuracy, WIFI, HSPA,Auto Brightness and google now. From 100% down to 0%. Then doing a Full charge time with phone turned on.
Will be posting screenshots via dropbox below with a few hours in between.
Battery usage screenshots. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/zwr2s240knxqove/_FZDWDZWmT
4hr 6mins screenshots of time on. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/zzvlu7oplnax7qf/IeDdDl9Nb_
8hr in with screen on time. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/ww0uwt5fo8tbuk9/mw_LPAcrB3
19hr screenshot with 7.5hr overnight standbyhttps://www.dropbox.com/sc/t64536q9a0l0axd/RWJ6_Oq4gJ
In addition I've used a2dp audio stream for an hour or so. I'll do a full screenshot of all the on times later.
Still very low usage scenario. Battery looking good. @22hrs 40% with updated screenshots above.
Final Result only took me to 15% with 1 Day 16 Hours. Screen on time 3hr 16mins. Needed a full battery for the day and couldn't risk it but atleast it's a general ballpark. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/oaj33ji9kssx5rt/BFiLIz-Jef
40 Hours is still pretty good for light usage. During a busy working day i would be happy with 9 hours max usage.

Were you expecting Galaxy Note or LG G2 battery life from a phone with a 2300 mAh battery?
Those battery stats seem perfectly fine for a phone with a 2300 mAh battery.

It looks ok with almost 2h of BT streaming calls + 2h of music. Other results in thread seem more "realistic" (if you don't use BT). Let's wait for more feedback. If it could make 4-4.30h screen on for me, that means with custom kernel and UC it could easily hit 5h or more. *thinking out loud*

Here's my reply from the previous thread...
Well you say it's disappointing but I disagree;
If you look at the screenshots you will see how much battery has been taken by the voice calls compared to screen on time;
30% of the total battery use was from the 3hr47m for screen on time but...
A whopping 26% for only 1hr28m of voice call time! If we use that ratio and just double it (assuming all network strength was the same) you'd likely lose 52% of your battery in just under 3 hours...(this is just an estimation based on my results btw).
I honestly don't understand the hard-on people get for screen on time when voice calls seem to drain the battery much much harder... doesn't anyone use their device as a phone anymore?
Also if you take into consideration how bad my signal was the battery life I had today was all the more impressive.
A Random Afterthought:
IF that 26% that were used on Voice calls were used for screen on time...although realistically it'd probably be something like 17-20% with the rest on random android processes and processor usage; the screen on time could easily be above 5 hours possibly pushing 6 with bad signal and no wifi O_O...
Well nexus 4 with Trinity kernel gets 6-7 hours so with nexus 5 I expect around 8 hours on a custom kernel and stock should get around 5 hours which is pretty darn good.

shr33kant,
The battery performance results you have are perfectly acceptable for a typical phone user that uses the phone for calls, web surfing, google services, movies etc. I only get 2 to 2hr. 15mins on my N4 with typical phone usage as you. So the N5 is basically getting better battery performance then the N4. :good:

Anandtech's 3.2.0 review...

TLDR;
They love it now, one of the most accurate displays they have tested.
"The display has gone from being the most inaccurate display that I've seen in years, to being among the most accurate displays that we have on record."
--- Anandtech
Seems I like inaccurate displays [emoji6]
I had no problem with the first calibration, but after using sRGB for a couple days I just can't go back.
Also keep in mind that some users reported to restart the device after enabling sRGB to make the yellow-tint disappear.
Great job by OnePlus to bring sRGB to quickly to the users.
Me too first thought that the new sRGB mode is too yellowish, but after a couple of hours I really got used to it. Won't switch back again!

battery life

Hey guys!
How is all your battery life?
Mine is currently going pretty bad..
My phone is like 11 months old now and my battery life has gone from 48+ hours to like 13 max now..
I dont use my phone that much but the battery has become terrible if I think about how it was!
Is there any warranty on batteries?
I'm also on the same boat, since the last update. I don't know if it has something to do with it. Let's wait for emui 9.1 it appears to be very good on the mate 20 pro in terms of battery.
You can replace your battery for free if you warranty
Update..
I don't know what the problem is. I deleted Facebook and Chrome because Facebook drains pretty hard but that's not the problem I guess..
How about a factory reset?
Mine suddenly did this yesterday. C432 on . 286 usual day, whole day at base at work too so not even used any GPS and at 18% by time I was home...... Usually 40%+ ran calibrator see if it helps as has done before. Shall report back

Getting the usual 36+ hours on .286 C432...
Mines back to normal. 40+% after a quiet day at work. Must have just been an odd day

You have to consider outside temperatures aswell. It is summer in the end, if you spent time outside a lot than it is normal for battery to drain faster since it is so hot outside.

Nah dude, that is not what I did...
You will never get pure black like me that way
There's an article on xda about dark gray vs pure black interface. The gains are negligible.
My P20 Pro's battery varies from day to day mainly depending if i'm on Wifi or not.
Do you guys leave all your apps open or close them when you are done?
Only reason I ask is Twitter and Snapchat seem to constantly run in the background if I leave them open.
Many apps stay open in the background, the most obvious being the social media and messenger apps. No backgrond=no notifications.
Haven't bothered to clean memory since I've had phones with more than 1gb of ram. The P20 Pro, in particular also has a big battery and almost always lasts me a day, so no worries. Charges really fast too
