Here's a fast way to do a full factory restore so you can take an ota without erasing your internal storage.
This will not however remove the rooted message for a warrant claim.
Check MD5's before flashing.
Step 1: Flash Flash KK24a System Restore 1st.
Step 2: Flash KK24a Bootstack Restore 2nd.
Warning: You will loose your custom recovery after reboot.

Can't do 27a restore as System.img is too big for a zip to be flashed. Its over 2.2gb. Needs to be under 2.1gb for custom recovery to flash it. I can't get it compressed under 2.1gb.

@MicroMod777, just to make sure before I proceed, I lose my custom recovery (in op), but I'm assuming I maintain root? I've read from others root is kept through 27a, and that Freedom Tools also restores recovery. Am I correct on all? Thank you!

Excellent, thank @MicroMod777. One more question; after I flash this, I'm unrooted, no custom recovery. If I root the 24a using ioroot25 (but not a custom recovery), will the root maintain through the updates to 27A? I recall reading somewhere on here that it did. Thanks for your work!!

Not really sure, but you can always use Stump Root on 27A. Can take up to 10 minutes for it to root through brute force:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
I am pretty sure root maintains with the OTA 27A.

Looks like they may have patched that in twrp recently.
https://github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery/commit/78ab0c5807c17e343cc4fa9af86ea2d787e0e047
Though this could also just be for backups over 2gb... But they split those anyway.

I haven't had to use it on my LP system images. I used 7zip to compress one with zerofree, the other without zerofree, and the difference was around 8MB. I'm assuming LG didn't add too much junk info. this time around.

Special thanks to Team Codefire for bump and WACOMalt for TWRP.
Before you can flash any rom after this, the boot.img must be bumped first on any rom you want to use. As time passes, you'll probably see all the ROM's bumped. If the rom you want to use is not BUMPED, don't use this.

Nice to finally be on the full 26a bootstack with twrp.
By the sound of it after this you'll wanna flash your chosen thermally governed twrp, assuming you can update to a non bumped twrp. Is that possible micro, or will flashing different twrp break it?

Once you root lollipop you can't accept OTAs, however you can flash the update via fastboot.

Hi! Welcome to the Nexus 6 community.
First, keep doing what you have been doing. Reading! That's the best way to learn the how to's.
As far as OTA's, lollipop requires that NO system modifications are present for OTA to flash. However, there are many ways around this "feature". Keep searching and reading here, as all of these topics have been addressed. Always remember, Google is your friend too.

I have been reading around, mostly on tapatalk (hard to find things!)
Anyway, could you answer this question (I will learn about flashing updates via fastboot soon, maybe you can point me to a good thread to learn this?)
When I flash an update, is it like flashing a new rom meaning all apps, settings and such are wiped?
Thanks so much!!!

This OP is a good start
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2948481
When you flash a update via fastboot don't use the flash-all.bat file because it will encrypt your phone ( if you decrypted) and wipe the user data. Flash each image manually (I always do this) and you will be fine. If you want a break down of the order I'll post it and or link a post for updating while rooted.

Yes I did (Its one of the first things I did) if you wait then you will lose your user data. When you encrypt or decrypt and or unlock/re-lock the BL it will wipe your phone.

Onto your question...
What oneclick method? Do you have a link? Some install a recovery, some are simply root. If you're coming from 39a stock, you need to use XDABEBB's 39a bootstack (get it here) (keeps the 39a modem, rolls back to an older bootloader as Bump is patched in 39a so you can't boot anything but stock. Your oneclick method likely flashed a recovery, but not a bootstack.... Which is what's causing the dead android when you boot recovery. You're really lucky it didn't flash everything though as you could've possibly bricked your phone if it had.
You should have used Freedom Tool which would have got you what you needed... or maybe the new autorec.
Read Twice, Flash once.

Thanks to Mikeyinid and TheJesus for providing the stock img files and flashable recovery zip. I used them more than once on my own device, and got frustrated at having to re-root it every time. To speed things up I decided to create a pre-rooted zip with busybox installed.
Feel free to use it as you see fit. If you format /system before you install this TWRP will warn you that there is no OS installed, but it's wrong, it will boot.

Almost stock? Are you saying this only because it has root and busybox? It does not overwrite recovery, correct?

This is for the h901 which is the Tmo variant just fyi. So yeah you are good.
WiFi calling works fine. The only thing that breaks it sort off is installing xposed and that only breaks it if you don't have LTE at all. If at home you can use WiFi but it has to see LTE signal as well. If you are In. area with no LTE or if airlane mode on with just WiFi on it wont work.

I read here, somewhere, that you need stock recovery to do the update. Since I have flashed another recovery (and rooted and installed Xposed), I'm not sure if I can update to EMUI5.
Furthermore, I'm not even sure how to do the update. The update (b351) is available in FF and checks out as "compatible", but I don't know what the install procedure is. Especially without stock recovery.
Any help or info is much appreciated

That you may need to find your own. Well in custom ROMs, they are designed to work with custom recoveries like TWRP. While in stock, the whole system is inside update.app, which can't be read by a custom recovery.
