Here's a one click method to unlock 26A & 27A with a bumped TWRP recovery.
Special thanks to Team Codefire for bump and WACOMalt for TWRP.
Before you can flash any rom after this, the boot.img must be bumped first on any rom you want to use. As time passes, you'll probably see all the ROM's bumped. If the rom you want to use is not BUMPED, don't use this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
WARNING: IF THE BOOT IMAGE IS NOT BUMPED ON 27A BY THE DEV OR YOU ON THE ROM YOU WANT TO FLASH, THEN YOU WILL NOT BOOT.

Nice to finally be on the full 26a bootstack with twrp.
By the sound of it after this you'll wanna flash your chosen thermally governed twrp, assuming you can update to a non bumped twrp. Is that possible micro, or will flashing different twrp break it?

In the general G2 forum they have CM12 running. The Verizon model still has a few hiccups like no working data, but I know they will have it fixed very soon.

thanks. at least i wasn't the only one without data working on that build
I also made a how to video

Data is working as of the 11/19 build. You just need to turn data roaming on and data will work. You WON'T be roaming even if it shows R you'll still be on LTE/3G whatever is available in your area. Switch roaming to on and either toggle data off/on or reboot your phone and you're good to go.
Has anyone tried putting Verizon's Visual Voicemail on this? It looks like VVM requires being able to intercept sms and Lollipop's "Choose your primary sms app" seems to block vvm from intercepting them. I guess Verizon is going to have to sort this out before they can offer lollipop on any of their devices. Besides that, this rom seems pretty good!
Thanks both for the heads up and the video tutorial. It works fine except for the knock feature, anyone else have a issue? I tried to load the hiddenmenu.apk via recovery and it would not load.

Here's a fast way to do a full factory restore so you can take an ota without erasing your internal storage.
This will not however remove the rooted message for a warrant claim.
Check MD5's before flashing.
Step 1: Flash Flash KK24a System Restore 1st.
Step 2: Flash KK24a Bootstack Restore 2nd.
Warning: You will loose your custom recovery after reboot.

Looks like they may have patched that in twrp recently.
https://github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery/commit/78ab0c5807c17e343cc4fa9af86ea2d787e0e047
Though this could also just be for backups over 2gb... But they split those anyway.

I haven't had to use it on my LP system images. I used 7zip to compress one with zerofree, the other without zerofree, and the difference was around 8MB. I'm assuming LG didn't add too much junk info. this time around.

FAQ:
What is a "bootstack"?
Our devices have a number of partitions that all work together to give us a functioning smartphone. Every time LG releases a new firmware there are certain partitions that get updated (aboot, dbi, laf, modem, rpm, sbl1, tz). This subset of partitions was given the arbitrary label "bootstack" at one point and the term stuck. They have been grouped together here in flashable zips along with a custom recovery and are referenced by their corresponding official LG version code (i.e. 12b, 26a, etc).
NOTE: Though the "modem" and "aboot" (bootloader) partitions are included, these terms are NOT synonymous with bootstack.
Which one should I use?
Please reference your firmware's OP to verify which bootstack version is required. These ALL include the full set of matching partitions. For example, the 27A zip contains the 27A aboot, modem, etc.
My firmware thead mentions loki. Do I need the older aboot/bootloader?
If you are flashing a kernel (or firmware containing a kernel) that hasn't been bumped, you will also need to flash this 12B bootloader zip after. If you aren't sure, you can generally use this as it works with both loki and bump exploits. This may not always be the case, but for now it is. The custom TWRP recovery included in these zips works with both.
What's the difference between bump/loki?
These are the two bootloader security exploits that we have for our device. They are the only reason you are able to flash custom kernels and recoveries in the first place. Discussion of their intricacies is beyond the scope of this thread, but here's a good place to start reading.
How do I get fastboot back?
Some people weren't comfortable with fastboot, so I've left the Download Mode (laf) partition in these. If you want fastboot instead, flash this.

Flashable Bootstack zips:
12B
24A
26A
27A
28A
39A
12B Bootloader - needed for older kernel/boot images (and firmware that contains a kernel) that ONLY support loki.
*All zips include TWRP 2.8.6.3 compiled by @blastagator. Please thank him along with the TWRP team for their work.
**The 39A zip contains the 28A aboot/laf since LG has patched the bump exploit with their L releases.
Flashable Modem zips:
12B
24A
26A
27A
28A
39A
* These zips ONLY contain the modem. If you want all of the corresponding partitions together (highly recommended) you should use the bootstack zips above.
Manual OTA:
Make sure your phone is COMPLETELY stock. Even the slightest change to one file will disrupt the OTA process as these are binary patches, not kdz's. If you are unsure whether any file has been modified, you should KDZ or TOT first.
Copy/paste the following url into your browser while changing the two version numbers in RED to match the patch you wish to apply. The example below downloads a bin file that brings you from 27A to 28A.
https://pvzwmdmcdn.vzw.motive.com/firmware/LG_VS980_27A_TO_28A.bin
*Keep in mind that there may not always be a patch directly to the version you want. For example, to get to 39A, we first had to apply 27A to 28A, then 28A to 39A. Thanks to @JackpotClavin for finding these files.
Change the extension of the file you just downloaded from ".bin" to ".up"
Create a folder in the root of the sdcard on your phone named "SoftwareUpdate" and copy the file into that folder. Using the example above, you would now have a /sdcard/SoftwareUpdate/LG_VS980_27A_TO_28A.up file on your phone.
If you prefer CLI and have root with working adb setup or terminal app on your phone, you can enter the following command from a root shell prompt to start the update process. Otherwise skip to the next step.
Code:
am start -n com.lge.lgfota.permission/.DmcEzUpdateStart
You can also download an app that allows you to launch activities through a GUI, such as Activity Launcher. In this app, select All Activities from the dropdown, scroll down until you find "com.lge.lgfota.permission", and then select DmcEzUpdateStart from there. It may also be hiding under Verizon Hidden Menu or Software Update.
Your phone will reboot on its own and go through the OTA process. If you encounter any errors, it's because you weren't 100% stock, so you will need to kdz/tot first.

Onto your question...
What oneclick method? Do you have a link? Some install a recovery, some are simply root. If you're coming from 39a stock, you need to use XDABEBB's 39a bootstack (get it here) (keeps the 39a modem, rolls back to an older bootloader as Bump is patched in 39a so you can't boot anything but stock. Your oneclick method likely flashed a recovery, but not a bootstack.... Which is what's causing the dead android when you boot recovery. You're really lucky it didn't flash everything though as you could've possibly bricked your phone if it had.
You should have used Freedom Tool which would have got you what you needed... or maybe the new autorec.
Read Twice, Flash once.

I'm guessing it'll have to update bootloader, radio and kernel as well?
I know how to do this via command line. Was really hoping for a way to do it on the fly since this is not my phone and taking a PC for a TWRP ready device is a hassle.

Google search says that TWRP can not flash factory images.
Check the TWRP FAQ if you'd like.

That's what I thought.
Thanks for the links,
But I'm still looking for TWRP flashable if anyone knows of one?
This should be a relatively easy thing so I'm surprised it doesn't exist
there is no reason for it to HAVE to be twrp flashable, just google for "NEXUS ROOT TOOLKIT" you will see on there restore to stock, and re-lock boot-loader, not positive but i think twrp cant flash stock unrooted images, i could be wrong

TWRP can flash a stock image if someone creates it. Unless there is something odd about the nexus, but I doubt that. The only thing that shouldn't be flashed stock would be recovery.
I don't think I need to use some toolkit... adb and fastboot commands are simple enough.
I was hoping to avoid needing a PC at another persons house, I mean that is kinda the point of twrp.
I am surprised this doesn't exist. It does for every other device I've owned. It's honestly just a wiped clean, twrp backup of a stock device with TWRP installed.
If I owned the device I would make it for you guys. It seems something that is lacking that is really handy.
I guess I'll round up a laptop. Thanks for the links and suggestions.
Google has done that for you already. Just unpack the archive you choose and the four images are in there.

I thought we've already decided I cannot flash these images with TWRP....

Different Google search gave this. I can find nothing else on TWRP site or G+
Appears you can also use FlashFire.
Thanks for the help.
OP could flash one of the stock lite ROMs in the development forum and get the TWRP-flashable stock ROM he's looking for. Danvdh and tupac4u both offer one that is nothing more a debloated stock ROM.
TWRP is able to flash system images from 3.0.2 and on. Just unpack the archive and select install img. Remember to flash stock kernel and newest radio and bootloader too (bare in mind that flashable bootloader is harder to find. You might have to find older one and update the files inside on your own). Afterwards flash stock recovery and lock bootloader with a zip. Now you can just reboot it. It's not that hard.

For Nexus 6 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59728002/
Thank you.
I went ahead and simply flashed him 100% stock via flash and fastboot.
This is probably resolved now, just adding info though. I had flashed stock 7.1.1 zip downloaded from google via twrp 3.0.3.0. It removed twrp itself too and I was back on stock.

Try the app FlashFire.
