NANPA database hack containing all area codes in wildcard format:
jawz101 said:
I took the area codes from North American Numbering Plan Administration: NANPA
and played with it in excel to get a list of all area codes in North America (Canada, US, and random countries that use NANPA codes) and made a wildcard blacklist
if you have a fresh install of Root Call Blocker 2, make a backup in the app settings to sdcard, drive, etc.
open the rcb2.bck file with an unzipping program.
download the database.txt file & rename it to database.ent
overwrite the database.ent file with the one attached.
rezip all of the files and rename the zip to rcb2.bck then reimport into Root Call Blocker
It will overwrite your blacklists and whitelists so make sure you're ok with that but you can add them back later.
Make sure to remove area codes you talk to frequently since we're blocking the whole continent.
I'd probably do that and then set your blacklist to send to voicemail so you're not simply rejecting other area codes. Doing it this way instead of the file/csv import let me name the area codes with state names. I guess I could spend some more time finding a resource that showed the metro area for each individual area code but I didn't get that from the file I used off the NANPA website but if anyone wants to run with it it isn't that difficult to reproduce this. I'll also add the Excel file that formatted it all. You'd just copy the J column into that database.ent file somewhere in the TABLE =entries section.

As your schedule end mode you should choose user defined list to fill in the gap.
Just to let everyone know the apps price has been permanently lowered to US 3.99 plus local tax. This is a consequence of googles new tax policy for some countries.

Got a new job and the supervisor is a nutcase always ringing me from different numbers when i block him so i have to get the pro version for the extra numbers allowed. Well worth the two bucks, more even come to think of it. I also own your Undelete app (i did the Ukranian translation for you). Thanks again.

Not allowing SMS
RCB is by far the best call blocker I have found! Most of the others will successfully block the call, but then allow the caller to go to voice mail - not at all what I want. With answer/wait/hang up, RCB kills the call nicely. Thank you!
The only problem I have is that while RCB service is active, no SMS messages get through - even with 'Manage Lists' > 'Settings' > "Message Blocking Allow' still nothing gets through. Sometimes I can disable RCB & other times I have to reboot the phone to get messages to get through.
This is on a LG L41C Ultimate 2 with Android 4.4.2 TracFone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No it doesnt. Your ignorance is damaging our reputation.
Does it work like the stock android call blocker ??

Great app, already paid for the donate version. I also paid for another call blocker in the past (around €5) but it turned out to be crap. Great work, some more features would be cool but blocking couldn't be better.
Having used modified Sony Ericsson W595 and K800 to have the "black list" patch, I was wondering if there was something similar for Android.
I installed the beta version onto my Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro, and glad to report it does work from testing from my other phone. The Mini Pro is using an O2 SIM with the voicemail disabled. The phone used to test was a Sony Ericsson K800 that has an Orange SIM in it, and these are my findings:
Call block:
Reject: rings once then disconnects (drop call)
Alternative reject: appears to answer (phone used to call seemed to have "connected" - however the other person would probably get the hint and put the phone down after a while)
SMS block:
Currently I have only tested the "block and save" - which still allows you to view the text that was sent. However, be advised that delivery reports were still allowed to be sent to the phone that sent the SMS.
As I said: I have not tried the other settings.
There is no sign of any missed calls or SMS received in the call log/inbox (which I think is a good thing).
Overall I am impressed with this app. Nice work
There's a bug with alternate reject in the current build. We will be fixing it shortly.
For now, a ittle update with new help files...
Save for the option to hide itself, how does this differ from Easy Filter?
Not trying to be a pain, Im just wondering...
Try the beta and find out... all i can say is that is much more powerful. Faster blocking, more options, less system footprint, native code... the list is bigzorz.
i really like this app, it works nicely on my Nexus S and my Desire HD as well
bought your screenshot er before and this now! thanks!

Youre in the wrong thread mate!
Anything to report?
Is there any chance of your creating links to Tasker? Call Master seems to be the only call blocker that can intercept calls before they ring. Tasker is more flexible in what it can do. If Call Master could inform Tasker of incoming calls in time for Tasker to react before it rings, I'd happily pay a license for Call Master solely for that reason.
Tasker... everyone wants plugins but they are so annoying to make
And of course not exactly for average users. Im fine without tasker thanks. The new password protection is working excellently!
We will be making a plugin!
No more unwanted calls!
We have just released an update, please see the market for more information!
Absolutely top class.

Hi everyone! Thank you for your help in getting CM up to a flawless standard! We are now almost ready to deploy CM 1.5 - it will include MMS blocking, Class0 auto replies and many other new and very cool features.
We need your help now to iron out any remaining bugs before we embark on a daemon rebuild. Please download the app from the market and get testing! Here are the issues we want to address specifically:
- If you have problems regaining 3G after the telephony restart. This should have been fixed. If not, please try "Slow radio restart" in Debugging and report your results!
- Issues moving list priorities on Light or Dark theme. Again, if you have issues, please switch to the other theme, try again and then report back.
- Notification color schemes. We are interested if the new notifications comply with the majority of frameworks.
Thank you in advance for all your great work, this ultra-awesome app is as much a child of yours as it is of ours

I can confirm that the radio never re-enables on a droid bionic. I tested with both my phone and my wife's with the same result.
Report sent.
How long did you wait, what rom/radio/kernel, and did you try "restart telephony"?
Just as a good measured test, I waited 60 minutes before trying the "restart telephony" option, then another 30 afterward. Data never returns, and there are no bars of signal. After a restart, the same thing happens once the app starts (no signal, no data).
Great looking app, very excited to have it working on our phones =D
Edit: Sorry forgot to mention, this was a fully stock bionic. The only deviation was the fact that it is rooted.
You should try with the screen on, not off. Also, i dont understand how you have no bars. Thats impossible.
Are you perhaps blocking some permissions or something?
Beta 1.0 released
I will like to start saying a very big thank you to @bggold who asked me to consider this in the first place
While there isn't any way to use the nice Google Assistant voice, and it's still rough around the edges, this demonstrates how we can use Android Auto in a multi-lingual environment as well as how to read out and reply emails.
The concept is very simple, instead of relaying on Android Auto to read out the notifications I have created a small app which mimics that behaviour, with some extras:
1) It try to do a language detection for each test, and use the appropriate TextToSpeech
2) It allows the user to select which app notification does he/she want's to read
3) If the content is really long (like a lengthy email) the app will prompt the user if it want's to go ahead with the message readout or not
4) If notification supports quick-reply the app will prompt the user for a reply (in the same language as the the original message)
Planning to support a lot of languages but there I will need user input, I have translated the basic strings to around 70 languages using Google translator, but I can tell it's not quite right (I can see with the languages I do speak)
Best part, app won't be affected by 3rd party restriction at all and it won't require root either, however I'm pretty sure Google will not allow it on the PlayStore
Beta version available now on XDA Labs.
App will be payable, however current beta is free so grab a copy while you can
To use the app you will need to enable unknown sources in Android Auto, simply open Android Auto, go to About, tap the "About Android Auto" header 10 times till you become a developer, then from the 3 dotted right menu select developer options and enable "Unknown sources"

Thanks for making this app!
After first start it asked for notification permission and then it was gone to build the list of installed apps/services - endless...
So I've forced close the app after minutes, went to app info/permissions, and enabled unselected permissions for it.
After that the app works now, as it should!
I'll test the functionality today while using AA in my car.

Thanks. It was 3 am )) updating the app now.
This is exactly what I needed. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. Using Samsung S9 plus running Oreo. Gave read permission to the app, enabled developer settings on Android Auto, enabled unknown sources, enabled whatsapp and Gmail.
Whatsapp notifications haven't changed and it continues to read the foreign text in English. Gmail notifications don't pop up at all.
Any suggestions?

Not sure if you saw but there is a new release. It fixes this issue. Just remember to reboot after updating.
Unfortunately I have the same problem as @yavuzyay. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge with Android 7.0 and Carnotifier Beta v3.
Thanks to @yavuzyay for bugreport and Turkish language input.
I have identified the problem where the app was crashing in case you where using AA on the phone only, and this has been now fixed.
@CeldeSuS - Are you phone only or are you using AA on the car? If phone only, download the new beta 1.4

I'm using AA on the car (Alpine X802D-U head unit). I'll try the new beta anyway and report back.
Awesome. Works perfectly.
V4 work fine with SM960F(android 8.0) & RLink1 !
Great job!
Very good stuff!
I use it with the now playing feature - basically phone picks up music on the radio,.detects the song and artist and throws a notification. This app picks that up and shows it as a notification on the car screen! I have disabled read out. So it stays as a simple notification.
Quick question - haven't been able to try it - if I set zero seconds as the duration, will it leave the notification forever?
Tested but not working as expected. Line is an application which doesn't support Android Auto.
Positive: Yes, Car Notifier shows there is a message on Line.
Negative: Can't do anything, it won't read the message, the notification stays in grey color and nothing happens when I click on the message.
Cheers

You can't click the notification to have it read at this time. If you want them read to you enable the read option.
"Read out notifications" is enabled in the settings, my Honda headunit is hacked and I have root access, so I don't think this is related to that.

I'm sure you have but have you checked all the permissions?
CarNotifier asks only permissions to Microphone and Phone, both are granted.
Wondering now whether it has something to do with the new Android Auto v3.8.584554 where some on Reddit claim, that notification is broken
Cheers
Tom
Edit: Maybe the the new AA version interferes with CarNotifier, because AA can show now also message preview
More edit: My friend tested on the Samsung S7 (I have a OnePlus 3T). Also on his mobile nothing happens with Line.
Can't read out and nothing happens in AA when click on it
Is there an app for Speed cams like in your obd2aa app, to have only the speed cam notification?

I am running the new aa and it is working. Get Emil a bug report right after it happens.
The only thing you can do at this time is swip away the notifications. Clicking them will not do anything.
Thanks
After more testing, I do believe the culprit is Line. Gmail works as expected, Facebook also (just for test).
However, Line refuses, which is actually the reason to install the program in the first place.
Probably one of the few programs which won't work.
Great program though.
Cheers

Hi guys.
I'm finally back in the UK and in front of my PC, I've also managed to tied up quiet a few of my loose ends and I have no big project starting this year. I will dedicated the last 2 weeks of this years to the following:
1) Looking into fixing some of the FC for obd2aa, also try to find a solution for non-standard PIDs
2) Get AA GateWay to Beta/Stable version (most work needs to be done on this app)
3) Fix some issues and FC with HUR (including Waze sound cut off).
4) Get the carNotifier to a stable version.
January and February are again fully booked so I will focus on stability rather then adding new features especially because obd2aa and HUR and fairly mature apps with most of the functions already covered.
For some reason I'm not really getting any notifications from XDA and being a lot on the road I don't visit the site too often lately, therefore I will kindly ask you if you need support, please email me directly to [email protected].
