This phone is from the USA, it has some AT&T bloatware on it that I can't seem to delete and I am using it in Europe on a different carrier (it is unlocked).
It works great except for the fact that the software is stuck on version 4.1.2, I tried checking for updates but it says that it's "already up to date".
So...
1. What is the latest default version of Android for the HTC One M7 available?
2. How do I flash it onto this phone? I don't want any modifications/root etc. only the latest default firmware.
This may be wrong but someone told me that if I flash a wrong software I may lose my network connectivity so here are the frequency capabilities of the phone:
2G: GSM 850, 1900
3G: UMTS 850, 1900, 1700, 2100
4G: LTE 700, 800, 1700, 1900, 2100
Here are my network's frequencies:
2G: GSM 900 , 1800
3G: UMTS 900, 2100
4G: LTE 800, 1800
In case someone asks.
I am a noob when it comes to flashing HTC phones so please tell me what software I need to use to flash the device and where I can find the latest firmware for the phone.
other info on the phone:
Android version: 4.1.2
Software number: 1.26.502.12
HTC Sense version: 5.0

There are 2 RUU's for the AT&T One. You flash them from a windows EXE file
first one is here >> http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...13_10.38j.1157.04_release_334235_signed_2.exe
( If you want to s-off the phone do it now with rumrunner before the next RUU)
After that one you can flash this
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...09_10.26.1718.01L_release_356565_signed_2.exe
If the second one hangs or gives a htc_fastboot stopped working, flash this first then the RUU

fastboot oem rebootRUU

Thanks for the quick reply, I just have a few questions.
1. I am currently on T-Mobile in Europe but the phone is from AT&T USA, do I need to flash AT&T software or T-Mobile or can I put an "unbranded" software (without bloatware)?
I also need the phone to be able to update itself with OTA in the future.
2. Does the software affect the network bands the phone can run on?
3. Which program do I need on my PC to flash the phone?
4. Do I need a custom recovery/unlock bootloader or something like that?
I am sorry if these questions sound dumb =/

3. Which program do I need on my PC to flash the phone? Their self running RUU you need c++ librarys is all
4. Do I need a custom recovery/unlock bootloader or something like that? No their RUU (Rom Update Utility)

So basically all I need to do to have the latest firmware on this phone is to run the 2 RUUs you linked above in that order?
Is there anything I need to install on my PC before running the RUU? Are there any risks I should know about when using that software?
When the official Lollipop is available for the One will I also need to flash it through a PC?

No that's not the latest software ... their is no RUU for the last AT&T version 5.x.502.x
and the Developers Edition is already at 6.x.1540.x and expecting 7.x.1540.x in a few days / weeks
you need to concentrate on getting s-off right now

I just checked the phone, it has hboot 1.44.
What is the safest way to S-OFF and flash a Developer Edition? Can anyone link a nice guide?
And do I have to root the phone before doing this?
Current software version is 1.26.502.12 (Android v. 4.1.2).

Does rumrunner work with hboot 1.44? Also, on that guide it says for 4.4.2 but this phone is 4.1.2, is there any difference in the process of rooting/flashing rom in regards to the version of the software? I also found this S-OFF tool somewhere and I read that it's the simplest one for 1.44. Thanks for the answers guys!

Which one of these images should I install on my nexus one that works with carrier Rogers?
developer.htc.com/
Nexus One (ERE36B) Official OS Image
Nexus One (EPE54B) Official OS Image
Nexus One FRF91 system image
Nexus One FRG83 system image
Nexus One FRG83 by HTC WebKit source code
Nexus One GRI40 system image
It doesn't mater which version of android you have your phone will work on Rogers either way although if you want the latest version then I would suggest getting 2.3.3 from htc and then upgrading to 2.3.4 via OTA.
you have a link I am stupid
GRI40 from the ones you've mentioned.
Or just read the Wiki and use Unroot/Restore guide with PASSIMG method, FRG83.
I dl'ed the GRI40 image, renamed it to update.zip, put it on the root of the sdcard, and when I apply/install it gives the following.
ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.5
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
This is basically what has happened on all images I have dl'ed and tried expect the cyanogen mod7, the 7.0.3-N1 installed just fine.
do you have the wiki url, there are many wiki's on the internet.
Click on my signature to go to Wiki.
You can't install GRI40 from custom recovery, you need a stock one (or just turn the signature verification off in recovery). Don't forget to wipe data before installing.
Or just use PASSIMG method, as I've suggested earlier.
SO there are 3 ways I can do it, which is better, are their plus or minis in either way.
1. You can't install GRI40 from custom recovery... turn the signature verification off in recovery).
2. >>>you need a stock one
where do I get a "stock one"
3. >>>Or just use PASSIMG method,
Is there a how-to-do on this method?
>>>Don't forget to wipe data before installing.
Is this documented some where as I don't know what this means.
Bob.
Ok I am going over the Nexus One Wiki from your sig. Here seems to be the best way to go. Am I correct?
[ROM] Original Shipping - Tutoria

My objective is to get it set up some I am using the original software and have it updated to 2.3.4 and also so where there are additional updates I can do them over the wire.
Also at the bottom of the above link there is the following guide.
The following information came from user tuffCookie (for those with unlocked bootloader):
Should I used the tuffCookie guide if I have a unlocked bootloader? How do I have a unlocked bootloader?
tx.
Also my Nexus One will only work with Rogers. I have a working Bell and Telus SIM and they don't work. So it seems my phone is also SIM locked? I would also like to SIM unlock this phone. How do I do that?

You really should do some additional reading...
To get to a stock image, download the file from the first post of this thread and rename it to PASSIMG.zip, then place it in the root directory of your sdcard. Turn off your N1, then boot the phone by holding down the trackball and pushing the power button. Then follow the on-screen instructions. This will get you to a stock FRG83 ROM. You will then get the OTA updates to go to GRJ22.
Note: this will wipe your device (including your root access). To get root again, see the hundreds of post telling you how to do it.

Rogers does not sell the N1, so it is impossible that your N1 is SIM-locked to Rogers. I suspect that you have the T-Mobile version of the N1, not the AT&T version.
The T-mobile version has the following bands: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 for 2G, and 900, 1700, 2100 for 3G
The AT&T version has the following bands: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 for 2G and 850, 1900, 2100 for 3G.
Rogers supports 850, 1900 for 2G, and 850, 1900 for 3G.
Bell and Telus support nil for 2G and 850, 1900 for 3G.
You do the math...

Since you have HBOOT 1.13, just go to http://revolutionary.io and gain S-OFF on your phone and then you can flash any ROM you want. The process of S-OFF and rooting will not change your 3G bands. These are determined by hardware in the phone and nothing you flash can affect these frequencies.
is there any tutorial for this?, having the phone I can get s-off any rom without having to make a GoldCard? and finally after installing the rom, I can again have s-on the phone?, should be able to do OTA updates where s-on?

OK, here is a link to the official HTC Gngerbread 2.30.405.1 Unbranded ROM that has been rooted for you. You should be able to flash this from recovery and not have to worry about the modelid error:

ok, I apply this rom the phone, but what about when a new ROM available via OTA detect the phone?, because apparently this is a custom ROM.

It is only custom because it is rooted and the way you flash and install it. It is 100% stock otherwise. You will get the notification that an OTA update is available with this ROM, but if you attempt to update with the OTA it will fail because you have a custom recovery in place.
I just upgraded from the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE, and it seems that the firmware/software system may have worked somewhat differently. You could download updates specifically for the Radio or the touchpad firmware for the LTE without changing your ROM. The One's updates seem to be only software? I ordered one of those plate glass screen covers for my One, and it wants software version 1.31+, while my One has 1.29.651.7. Sprint is trying to send me an update but since I have TWRD installed and I am s-off it doesnt install like it should. Should I be concerned? If I get a ROM that is based off of the 1.31 update is that enough on this phone or am I missing some firmware updates that will need to get done.

you need to be aware that converting to t-mobile is not foolproof
your AT&T phone has different hardware and does not have the same radio bands as t-mobile. What I mean is you can do the conversion but wifi calling wont work and you'll be missing the 1700 MHz UMTS AWS bands needed for LTE 4G and 3G on the t-mobile networks. the 700 MHz A-Block is also missing from the AT&T phone.

Okay...I have a T-Mobile micro SIM in this phone and.it's using the at&t stock Rom on 4.2.2 and so far the device runs well on T-Mobile's LTE network. So what would be the risk of converting this to the GE edition ? Does the GE run the same hardware or does that one have different hardware too ? I'm not concerned about the WiFi calling on T-Mobile. I have unlimited everything on T-Mobile plus 3 GB of mobile hotspot data. So that wouldn't be an issue. What would not work as far as software on the T-Mobile ROM ?

1- There is no difference for the root method if you converted. Btw you root the rom, not the phone. So if you root a rom and then convert using a ruu you'll have to root again.
2- MID change require S-OFF, not root.
If you cant get network signals after unlock you should update the firmware (hboot,radio,sbl's...not the OS itself), i got mine working with this firmware 2.16.651.4
WARNING: Do this at your own risk, i will help if you have trouble but nothing guaranteed.

EDIT-by-Vcek:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
2x fastboot flash zip path-to-zip.zip (you will have to do this command twice otherwise you might soft/hardbrick your M8)

Edge/2G data AND 3G is working, I did not get 3G to work and did not test LTE (not supported in my area)
I got 3G to work using QPST and unlocking the 2100 MHz Band. Click here for brief description of the process from another Q/A thread.

I was considering moving srom Sprint to TMo... Are you saying that SIM Unlock is actually working with our providers in US?

No im GSM user, some gsm users dont get signal after sim unlocking US phones.
SIM unlock should be possible there is a link in the FAQ post. (I don't recommend trying it unless you've already broken your guarantee and have S-OFF)

Ask in the M7 forums, I highly doubt that our problems are related.
