Would it be possible.......... - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a AT&T HTC One, and I was wondering if it was possible to change it into the T-Mobile version. I found a thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781 that allows you to change you HTC One into a GE Editon phone, and I was wondering it was possible to do the same so you can use T-Mobile stock on this device. Its a good idea, but I'm kinda new to the HTC Android phones, but I have experience with Windows Mobile HTC Devices. Is this possible ? Thanks...

Yes its possible, but you will need S-OFF. With s-off, you can change your cid/mid to t-mobile and run a t-mob ruu to convert your phone.

sure
You know how to use fastboot and adb? Post the output of ''fastboot getvar all'' except your IMEI
Also post a picture of your bootloader screen or write down all the info.

you need to be aware that converting to t-mobile is not foolproof
your AT&T phone has different hardware and does not have the same radio bands as t-mobile. What I mean is you can do the conversion but wifi calling wont work and you'll be missing the 1700 MHz UMTS AWS bands needed for LTE 4G and 3G on the t-mobile networks. the 700 MHz A-Block is also missing from the AT&T phone.
you can read all about it here > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile_US

Okay...I have a T-Mobile micro SIM in this phone and.it's using the at&t stock Rom on 4.2.2 and so far the device runs well on T-Mobile's LTE network. So what would be the risk of converting this to the GE edition ? Does the GE run the same hardware or does that one have different hardware too ? I'm not concerned about the WiFi calling on T-Mobile. I have unlimited everything on T-Mobile plus 3 GB of mobile hotspot data. So that wouldn't be an issue. What would not work as far as software on the T-Mobile ROM ?

if your phone is working fine on the t-mobile network (4G - LTE) you have no worries .. convert to anything you like
Where I am in central FL a converted AT&T to Tmobile would be stuck at 2G/EDGE data ... not good

It was a success ! Thank you very much ! WOOOT !!! Running on stock T-mobile ROM with 4.3 and downloading OTA 4.4.2

Now if I wanted to return my device back to stock with the bootlader and everything, how would I do that ? I changed my cid back to the orginal but considering I flashed a stock T-mobile ROM how do I go back to the oringal AT&T ROM with full OTA updates ? For some reason I can't get OTA's using this T-mobile ROM and I have no clue how to root a converted phone to change the MID number to get those OTA's....is there a way to root a converted phone that is still on the original at&t MID or would I have to go back to stock ROM re-root and the change the CID and MID and then do the conversion all over again to get T-mobile OTA's ? Please let me know...thanks.

If you restore to att with a ruu and you have the correct cid and mid, you'll be able to do ota updates

1- There is no difference for the root method if you converted. Btw you root the rom, not the phone. So if you root a rom and then convert using a ruu you'll have to root again.
2- MID change require S-OFF, not root.

[Q] About Dev RUU on T-Mobile version?

Hi guys, I am just planning to install Developer RUU on my T-Mobile HTC One(I have already did S-OFF and SuperCID). I just want to make sure, after I install Dev RUU, do I keep T-Mobile radio or do I loose it? Because I don't want to loose my HSPA+ on T-Mobile network.
Thank you!

[Q]Getting LTE back.

Alright, so I've tried everything, everything I can, to get the LTE back working on the HTC one. And i mean everything, I've updated the Firmware to the current firmware, flashed, and reflashed the ARHD Rom that I use, clean, and dirty installs, over and over again, and i just can't seem to get it to recognize that we are in LTE, it insists on using H.
I've gone into the dialer code, and checked it displays HSPAP, and when i switched it to LTE Only, it refused to find a signal at all. I don't know what i need to do, the oddest thing was, i hadn't made any changes! It was working on LTE before i gave it to my girlfriend, when i did, I did the 4.2 fix, to clear up the internal memory by wiping it, then ADP pushing ARHD to the phone. Low and behold week or two later i notice that it's saying H, when i know we are in LTE coverage, because well its where we live, and it had been before, and because my phone right next to it, has 5 bars of LTE glory.
Any tips, suggestions, anything, would be GREATLY appreciated, cause I'm stumped. I've never played with radios, aside from updating the firmware with whatever those come with, and as i said, it was working fine before doing the memory fix to clear it for my girlfriend to take over. Please please, someone have a suggestion, i want her phone to run the LTE it should when she's not one wifi.
Reflash official ruu back?
check the APN.
Can't find the official RUU, and the APN settings seem to be fine, alongside what everything says it should be.
S-OFF ?
What's your CID?
The loss of LTE is certainly interesting, It shouldn't be firmware or rom dependent. Can't be a frequency issue since this phone was working on the carrier's network prior. Have you tried putting your sim card in the phone ? Her sim card in your phone? There is always the chance of carrier error.

I'll have to look when I get home, I have it set to super cid right now. As for the sims, I had briefly, but not for an extended test, it displayed the same h for my Sim.
If it's super CID then that also likely means your S-OFF.
You can flash any RUU, but might want to start with one from your carrier if available.
lots of stock roms/ruu here:

So I just clicked the more info tab on your profile. I saw vancouver and thought Canada but your profile shows USA and ATT. you're using the apn "phone" ?

What's the difference between flashing RUU and flashing firmware? Plus I've seen very small mention of my CID being responsible possibly, that going back to S-on improves speed. I don't personally believe it cause I had s-off with my Sim working fine.
S-On improve speed? That's completely illogical.
The CID has nothing to do with network connectivity; it's just there for identifying which RUU or OTA should be applied to your phone. Essentially version control for the various carrier models.
An RUU will wipe all data from the phone and rewrite all the firmware, recovery, and system. You can absolutely try extracting the firmware.zip from the RUU I linked and flashing that by itself in RUU mode via fastboot.
FWIW, I'm using an ATT branded One that's S-OFF and super CID on ATT Gophone. I've never had an issue with LTE connectivity. I also have three friends/relatives with s-off/super CID ATT branded One's using Net 10 [ATT] and they also have never had any LTE issues. All the devices I speak of are running full GPE conversions but I don't believe that to be relevant.

Alright, I just did a firmware update last night, to the current 3.62 whatever, official HTC one firmware, but I'll give it a try. Can I restore data from a nandroid backup, without it returning my firmware, or do I just need to long reinstall everything?
Nandroid doesn't backup firmware. It grabs /system /data /cache, boot and recovery.
you can RUU and then test LTE, when you get LTE working flash your favorite recovery and then restore your nandroid. LTE should continue working.

[Solution] Unlocked SIM but still no signal ? (GSM/UMTS)

If you cant get network signals after unlock you should update the firmware (hboot,radio,sbl's...not the OS itself), i got mine working with this firmware 2.16.651.4

[Q] HTC One (M7) stuck on 4.1.2

This phone is from the USA, it has some AT&T bloatware on it that I can't seem to delete and I am using it in Europe on a different carrier (it is unlocked).
It works great except for the fact that the software is stuck on version 4.1.2, I tried checking for updates but it says that it's "already up to date".
So...
1. What is the latest default version of Android for the HTC One M7 available?
2. How do I flash it onto this phone? I don't want any modifications/root etc. only the latest default firmware.
This may be wrong but someone told me that if I flash a wrong software I may lose my network connectivity so here are the frequency capabilities of the phone:
2G: GSM 850, 1900
3G: UMTS 850, 1900, 1700, 2100
4G: LTE 700, 800, 1700, 1900, 2100
Here are my network's frequencies:
2G: GSM 900 , 1800
3G: UMTS 900, 2100
4G: LTE 800, 1800
In case someone asks.
I am a noob when it comes to flashing HTC phones so please tell me what software I need to use to flash the device and where I can find the latest firmware for the phone.
other info on the phone:
Android version: 4.1.2
Software number: 1.26.502.12
HTC Sense version: 5.0

There are 2 RUU's for the AT&T One. You flash them from a windows EXE file
first one is here >> http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...13_10.38j.1157.04_release_334235_signed_2.exe
( If you want to s-off the phone do it now with rumrunner before the next RUU)

Thanks for the quick reply, I just have a few questions.
1. I am currently on T-Mobile in Europe but the phone is from AT&T USA, do I need to flash AT&T software or T-Mobile or can I put an "unbranded" software (without bloatware)?
I also need the phone to be able to update itself with OTA in the future.
2. Does the software affect the network bands the phone can run on?
3. Which program do I need on my PC to flash the phone?
4. Do I need a custom recovery/unlock bootloader or something like that?
I am sorry if these questions sound dumb =/

So basically all I need to do to have the latest firmware on this phone is to run the 2 RUUs you linked above in that order?
Is there anything I need to install on my PC before running the RUU? Are there any risks I should know about when using that software?
When the official Lollipop is available for the One will I also need to flash it through a PC?

No that's not the latest software ... their is no RUU for the last AT&T version 5.x.502.x
and the Developers Edition is already at 6.x.1540.x and expecting 7.x.1540.x in a few days / weeks
you need to concentrate on getting s-off right now

I just checked the phone, it has hboot 1.44.

Does rumrunner work with hboot 1.44? Also, on that guide it says for 4.4.2 but this phone is 4.1.2, is there any difference in the process of rooting/flashing rom in regards to the version of the software? I also found this S-OFF tool somewhere and I read that it's the simplest one for 1.44. Thanks for the answers guys!

AT&T - No Updates

I have a "manufacturer refurbished" AT&T branded M7 purchased almost a year ago from eBay. I'm not located in the US and the phone hasn't seen any updates (still in an older revision of KitKat from memory). Is that due to the phone not being on the AT&T network?
It's my SO's phone and I've not made it my concern until now with obvious concerns of the Stage Fright exploit known to be in the wild. The phone is rooted with TWRP and is S-ON. I have my own M7 which is S-OFF typically running an ASOP rom (XenonHD currently).
So what are my options here. I know my SO would be OK sticking with something stock and if things go sideways then it's not something I've done On the other hand, going S-OFF and super CID seems to be the easiest path to me.
So what I am asking for:
What's the easiest path to stock on this phone given that I'm not physically in the US with it or even have an AT&T SIM? RUU? If I go the S-OFF route should I flash interim firmware or just the most recent lollipop?

Imo, better to s-off change your CID to BS_US001 convert to the developer edition using a RUU.
