Hi all,
I have a Nexus 7 2012 model that has a damaged micro USB port. I've search around and etc, Asus ain't making the pogo dock chargers for N7 2012 already. The current ones pricing in the market have been marked up way too high. Was wondering whether anyone could make one for sale? Or maybe kickstart one? I've PM-ed a few of those who actually posted pictures of their DIY pogo docks but they either never reply or haven't been online since way back.

Does anyone know if you can get a seperate usb cable for the streak yet?
I want a spare one so i can keep it in the car, or a longer one because i find the one that comes with the streak to be too short.
Anyway if anyone knows where to get one then could they let me know
Just had a thought while typing.. just buy a usb extension lead...off to buy one to see if it works.
yes Dell sell them on their website mate
Another option is a USB extention cable. I got a 6FT for like $10 at RadioShack. Works great for me, you can also buy the Dell car kit that will work as a backup USB cable.
Is there a way to buy a compatible one?
I live in italy and we can order only from dell.it that obviusly hasn't streak and accessories in their site....

It'd have to be blooming long to use in the car, depending on the car journey
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Well it has recently been confirmed that the streaks connection port is a PDMI connection. The Slacker G2 radio also uses a PDMI but no one has tried its cable yet. Specs are one thing but fitting is another. (Think of it how the first iPhone had a 3.5mm headset jack but you had to buy the apple headphones that didn't an elbow and were narrow enough to fit in there.)
So if anybody has, or knows someone that has a Slacker G2, feel free to try the cable out and tell us all
Source:
http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/08/dell-streaks-proprietary-connector-is-actually-pdmi.html
Images that I can find for the slacker 2 radio charging lead seem to show a standard mini usb connector. Maybe the pdmi connector is data only?
can u use the ones on ebay?
Now i ordered another one from Dell site....
With only one cable, I finally ran out of patience and also constant carrying existing cable from place to place everytime I moved around.....
I have to have one near my bed for reading/charging thru the night....one in the car - which I will carry around to office as well...in the coming months hopefully the price will drop or there will be another source - till then this will do.

I guess it has both. check out this dock for the slacker g2... looks the same.. also looks like the ipod connector so don't know for sure till someone actually tests it out.
oh and here's one on amazon for 27.99
I have read a few threads etc saying there isn't enough pins etc for MHL.
Is this ebay person just trying to falsify to get purchases or did something change with MHL support that I haven't heard of.

Not enough pins on the pogo contacts. The micro USB housing is always capable of carrying MHL But there is no MHL display chip set in the N7
ok thanks
Is there any word on when a pogo dock will be available for the Nexus 10? I bought one of these things to replace my HP Touchpad and I absolutely love the wireless charging stand for it. I need something similar for the N10!

There has been no announcement of an actual dock, only a charger. The Nexus 7 is also made by ASUS, so there may be different manufacturing delays(I assume this is the problem because the alternative is that they are intentionally holding them back for some reason)
The Galaxy Nexus Docks were delayed by 6 months, due to them not actually working with JellyBean. I really don't understand what the problem could have been though, because apart from pogo charging and allowing the homescreens to orient in landscape, they do sod all else.
Hi all I am planning on mounting a Nexus 7 in my car and I have been wanting to make it removable. The best way I can think to do this is to use the pogo pins for charging as I wil be using bluetooth for the audio. I was intending to disassemble an official Asus dock for the pogo pins and pcb but i was wondering if i could buy one of the nexus 10 pogo charges cables and remove a couple of the pins and if need be rewire the usb end.
Does anyone have any idea if the pin width is the same and / or thoughts on if this is a good idea?
Thanks
Mitchell
Some useful info about what you're going to attempt to do might be found in that other thread about making your own dock, even for the car:

Thanks for that br0adband I have been following that thread but it does require buying the pins and mounting them separately which isn't to much of a problem but I thought this might be an easier solution.

the pins are more spread apart on the N7 than the N10, so you're need to pretty much take apart the whole cable tip and redesign it
That's it really it available for 29.99

Never mind they are gone now.... Wow that was fast they lasted 2 hours or so.... Now all you can find is the 80 dollar ones
I got mine direct from asus. I'm sure it was £27
I ordered just the pogo pins from ebay and they worked even better than the original dock does!
Hey guys.
Sorry to resurrect this thread but I'm looking for a nexus 7 2012 charging dock. The charging port is damaged again (I've already replaced it once) which is probably a mixture of kids not looking after things but also asus not using good parts.
When i looked for a dock on Amazon and ebay it seems that they aren't even selling second hand.
Any ideas where to buy? Someone in here mentioned just buying the pogo pins, what can be done with just these?
No one?

I believe this thread is dead. The thing about buying pogo pins is just that you have to solder it yourself. I for one am not good in the DIY soldering section so I'll pass on that. And also because the dock has somehow became a limited edition item, the pricing has increased to a very unreasonable state to me.
Thanks mate
A few are available from CEX (UK second hand store) is you search on their site webuy com

What are pogo pins?
im having the same problem with my Nexus 7 port it just naffed up with normal use and most of the docks use the usb to charge it so thats out of the window.
There is a charger on ebay that charges the tablet by just putting the tablet ontop of the charger but id rather see it working or atleast get some feedback from someone thats got one before buying one.
BTW:mines the wifi 2013 one,i think they call it the second edition cant find the box at the moment to check.
The dock for the new would be different to the old. The pogo pins are what touches the brass contact points on the device.
