I hope someone can help me. I bought my wife a Note 4 last week and a few days ago she says that it is charging real slow. After trouble shooting I just exchanged her phone and the guys at T-Mobile said it was bad. The problem is, now my phone is doing the same thing. Like her charger fried my usb port. It will charge slowly, like 80% when it is plugged in all night. And the computer can no longer see it. I tried changing the rom and that didn't help. I can't odin it back to stock because it is no longer visible to the computer. I called T-Mobile, and they said it isn't working right because my phone is rooted. Since when can they tell that from over the phone? Any way, I can just change batteries everyday for the next 6 months until my phone is able to Jump, but do you guys have any idea how to fix this. Also, it no longer says that an adaptive fast charger is attached. Can I take it back to full stock without odin? Thanks in advance.
Let me understand this, is it not charging properly on the charger or when you're charging it on USB that's connected to your computer?
First of all why does Tmobile know your phone is rooted?
Never tell them that. Thankfully if you need an exchange just call 611 and talk to a different person.

Second,
Are you using the adaptive fast charger?

3rd,
Reinstall the Samsung drivers on your computer.
Use a different USB to micro USB cable when connecting to your computer.
If still a no go use another computer. Install the Samsung drivers, use a different cable.
If still a no go use a different copy of Odin. I prefer 3.04.
---------- Post added at 06:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:18 PM ----------
Additionally,
You can still wipe the system in the team win recovery.
I'd try that.
I'd try a different version of Odin before I tried another computer.
And, yes you can go back to stock in recovery. Wipe cache, Dalvik cache, data, then flash a stock rom.

I want to know how they knew it was rooted. He told me he can see that it is rooted and that he couldn't help me. That's why I was hesitant to call back. I would love to be able Odin it back to stock recovery and stock rom but I'm thinking that it is a hardware issue because I have tried so many things, different Odins, another computer, at least 5 different cables. Have you ever heard of T-Mobile knowing when a phone is rooted? Thanks for the help, by the way.
So I installed a nonrooted rom and called back T-Mobile, and they have cancelled my warranty and I have to go through insurance to get a new phone. I'm pretty sure it is because the My T-Mobile app tells them when your phone is rooted. I didn't know this. Such crap. So I guess everyone should be aware of this. I'm just going to ride out my Jump period, then Jump to a cheap phone and quit T-Mobile.
I think i was known fact that tmobile app reports if phone is rooted or not. You need to disable it and they cant see phone status.

I have the same problem. Used FireKat Rom. Something zapped the USB port or board. Charges super slow, luckily I have wireless charging as an option. USB port is messed up, always showing up as "unrecognized" device on any computer, including Tmobile's trouble shooter at the store. So Odin is out of the question. Tried exchanging batteries and chargers with the wife's (untampered) Note 4. Still doesnt work. Even tried other Roms.
Luckily, I have a back up of stock setup in TWRP, just have to uninstall SuperSU. Who knows, this could be a real issue coming up. Certain apps wont work for me either because of this.

Sounds like the same problem. I'm curious how it affects apps. My phone seems to run fine. I'm not even that worried about it. I just orderd a set of 2 batteries and a charger so I will just change batteries until I can jump in 6 months and plug my sd card into the computer when I need to put something on it. Sucks to not have fast charging though, it rocked. So what apps do you have that don't work?

Lot of apps are working, just certain ones like Instagram closes out all the time, but facebook still works. I forget the other ones that cancels out. Not too many. Im thinking the board was zapped somehow thats affecting the USB port. Just like a computer motherboard, eventually something else will start messing up. Softcard doesnt work, wifi calling doesnt work either (can hear them but they can't hear me), etc.

Cal 611 or go into a store. I went to a store and they're sending me a new/refurbished one. A warranty replacement. I will have to send mine back later.

No, I wasn't. I had called with my phone rooted and they used the T-Mobile app to see that my phone was rooted. They then cancelled my warranty. So when I called back they said I had to go through insurance to get a new one. Sucks, but not the end of the world. Everything works fine but the usb port. I have plenty of batteries and a wall charger.
That's strange. I have the same Tmobile apps and they didnt say anything. I just brought it to a store and they can't even hook up to the "trouble shooting computer" since it sees it as an unknown device. The store reps just did the warranty exchange at the store. They'll just check the condition of the phone- my phone is in prestine condition and saw there was no water damage. They wrote all that information, asked my the prompted questions needed, none of them was of software related. Just water damage and dropping of phone. You can try just going into a store.

I didn't change anything. I've had my phone since the middle of October. I plugged into my car charger to drive to work today, and a few moments later it notified me that it had detected the SIM card had changed. I checked phone settings, wireless plans on My Verizon, etc. and everything is the same. So, what happened? It didn't become unseated. Something serious, or random twitch? Ideas?

bad* is what i meant
Well, that sucks. I can still make calls and have a data connection. Wouldn't that indicate a working SIM? Or is it different because it's CDMA/LTE/Verizon?
I might be screwed here, but my son grabbed my phone while it was charging and broke the charging port. I currently have about 5% power left ( I had just plugged it in when my son broke it) and I am running SS 3.11. I accidentally deleted the safe rom and wanted to see if there was a way to uninstall the SS from the filemanager portion. basically, I got 5% to get this guy ready to send back to verizon, but feel like there may be no hope, I have tried getting it to charge through the charging port, but I am pretty sure it is completely disconnected because i can get no charge and no read from a pc... anyhelp would be amazing... willing to try anythign at this point...

That sucks man. Here's what you are probably going to have to do. You should be able to charge the battery by sacrificing a USB cable and manually hooking it up to the correct contact points on the battery. Google it and I'm sure you'll be able to figure out how to do that. Once you get it sufficiently charged (I'd say at least 50% - 60%) go to this thread from your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2205576.
Once there find a post by sd_shadow. In his signature he has a link to his google drive with all kinds of good stuff, including a stock nandroid backup. Download the nandroid backup and restore it to your stock slot. Once you've done that you should be able to boot back into to the stock ROM, delete safestrap, and then do a factory data reset.
It's not a perfect solution but I think that's probably going to be your best bet.
Good luck!
P.S. Thanks to sd_shadow for giving us all access to his collection of D4 goodies!

Hey All,
Dropped my XT-1056 after owning it 6 months -> black screen and what appears to be a boot-loop. Contacted Motorola, and apparently it is still covered under warranty. However I do have an unlocked bootloader & root, and therefore my warranty is void. What are the chances they will notice the unlocked bootloader before opening it up and send it back as-is? I have heard rumors that popping it in the micro (I know I know this will pop a few transistors and brick my phone) will render it inert, and they would most likely just replace the phone. I have also heard that the first thing they do in the RMA process is a factory reset, so they might not notice the unlocked bootloader.
Any thoughts on which way I should go?
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place.

Sorry I didn't elaborate. I told them I dropped it from pocket height, and when I picked it up the screen was black, and it appeared to be going through a boot loop (vibrating for a second, 10-15s pause, repeat). I did not mention the bootloader/root. I am currently trying to find a way to do a factory reset without the use of my screen, possibly through TWRP (if I can find a good set of screenshots) or some terminal commands. I believe I can get my phone to the bootloader by holding vol down + pwr for a few seconds, but have no way of confirming this, other than the fact that it stops the periodic vibrating. Still does not show it is connected to my PC, so I think Terminal is out of the question unfortunately.

Indeed it would be. Haha! Even it it was fatal, do you think they would open it up before doing software diags? Seems unlikely, but might be worth a shot.
Another alternative is that it is just a loose cable, and opening it up might be an easy fix. This however would definitely void the warranty, would it not?

Also you gotta test on a good cable bro lol and the back USB port. That like an XDA rule or it should be! also microwave would melt the plastic on the moto X and could hurt you or your microwave so please don't do that. Cell phones have enough radiation and microwaves too.

Nope. My coworker helped me through the unlocking process. He's done it a thousand times apparently, and it was my first, so I don't quite remember how he did it. Definitely not through Moto though. Told them I dropped it, was surprised when they said it was still covered, and am now going to send it off with all fingers crossed, and hope they don't send it back unfixed after a week.
Hell. Might be worth it to just drop the 200 for a new one. lol!

That is what you told them, dropped... but what really happened?
Symptoms do sound like something I had when I flashed a bad logo.bin on my XT1060. Screen didnt' work, just vibrated every few seconds. I did manage to hold the power button to stop vibrating, and then managed to get the phone into fastboot mode and fix.
If you can get your phone into fastboot mode, fastboot erase data and fastboot erase cache should do a factory reset.
If your screen doesn't turn on, they may not see you unlocked your bootloader (since you got code from 3rd party, they wound't have another way to check). and since your phone doesn't boot, they probably wont see its rooted either. So you MIGHT be ok.
When 7.0.0 was released, I started fresh and installed the official image from scratch. Before, with either 6.x.x or the N beta previews, I had NO problems connecting via USB to transfer data. Now with 7.0.0, I can no longer transfer data via USB. I don't have any options on my phone to switch from charging to data or any of the other connection methods. I also get some warnings on my PC that say the device is causing a power surge on the PC USB port. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I haven't found any way to fix this. Wi-Fi is a decent workaround. What really sucks about this is that the 7.0.0 flash I did seems like it will be the last flash this phone ever gets. I'm stuck with a clean flash of the last major stock official ROM this phone will get, so I'm fine with that.
I've had problems with the USB port and charging circuit on this phone for a few months now, which is probably why this is happening. It doesn't explain why I had no problems with just simple USB data transfer up until the official 7.0.0 release (right after it installed), but coincidences happen.
My screen has been badly shattered for about a year. This phone is almost done. I could probably still do the warranty claim though Motorola, but I'm just going to hop on over to Pixel and see how that works.

Ah ok. Yeah, you'll need USB for that. I did 2 warranty claims with Moto, even though I bought it from Google, and I have no complaints. If you can find a way to deal with the $500 credit card hold for a few days, it's worth it.

Did you try using a different USB cable? Because it seems either your cable or in the worst case your usb port short circuits your computer's USB. Or the other way round. Did you try it with another computer?

I have been on the same quest to find a port or away to Flash to a US based FW. I have had not real luck other than hints that it may take a Odin FW flash based off of SM-N950U1 I can not confirm. If someone can help with anyway to get the Phone to work on a US carrier (Big Red for me) It would sure be appreciated.
If I find anything else I will post here.
When will come the Android oreo finally???
So you wouldn't recommend getting the 9500 duos? Can't it be US localized? Can you explain more why it's unfortunate?
Is it better to get the 950F/DS?
I am thinking about changing to a dual SIM but I can't find a 128gb dual SIM except the 9500. I need 2 sims but 64 gb wont really be enough for me . Would appreciate understanding better the issue.

I think he might have translated the Chinese language. so I voluntered. no reply yet as I just messaged him about the tester. since my note 8 is messed up. will update soon as i hear from him and test the rom.[/QUOTPlease inform me when Ketan's rom is ready.
If you can send me the link for registering as a tester , I also become one tester.
Thanking you

Be careful I bought SM-N9500N Korean version, the 256GB 6GB RAM Blue one that we Do have root and xposed for. There is this bullcrap called the "Black screen of Death" and its Samsungs faulty software crashing our phones! The messed up part is once it happens Samsung IS NOT helping anyone with any type of International Version this year! So my phone as of 2 days ago is officially done. It makes it so it wont charge. My phone now when I plug it onto computers has a different name as well. It used to say NOTE 8 now its says omni_greatlte!!! Also if you charge it wirelessly and hard reboot etc.... NOTHING!!!

have a charger charge it with the cable and have a second source charge it on a charging mat. leave it for 30 mins and try again
dont think your issues are inherently because its a Korean n950n.
im on the exact same phone and have 0 harware/stock software issues since last october.
i flash several times a week. gone back and forth between stock and custom, nougat and oreo.
issue you describe seem to be the deep discharge problem that is not related to your specific model.
alot of people will say the n950n is the best model of the note 8 and appart form it not being dual sim, i surely think it is.

I did that I've been doing it for 2 days and it still hasn't taken a charge yet. When I left work it was on about 88% I walk from the building to the car pulled my phone out to call my wife and it was totally dead in the blue light was blinking. I try to do reboots and pull up TWRP all night long and nothing would happen. By this point it was 2 a.m. and I fell asleep I woke up the next day fresh and worked on it for about 8 hours trying to do reboots and charge it. From that point I went out and bought a wireless charger and use that as well as using a regular charger going back and forth back and forth back and forth all day yesterday. So I've been doing that for two days and it still is acting like it will not charge at all

The only thing I can think of now is to maybe get a better wireless charger I bought a little cheaper one from Rite Aid for 10 bucks. It did charge my Note 5 though. I just don't get it it just went dead but I Googled the issue and stories about the black screen of death came up

Or possibly the last thing I can think of is Samsung doesn't honor warranties on the international version. Is maybe to ship it out to one of the developers and just send him some cash and let him tinker with it

although this is getting off topic,
after reading around the web, instead of holding the combo buttons for 1 minute, it seems it is more for around 10 minutes. once you get dl mode might as well flash stock just in case.
might want to start your own thread if not already done.
