[ROM] [5.1] [OFFICIAL] [07/06] Paranoid Android 5.1 - Nexus 4 Android Development

PARANOID ANDROID 5.1
Paranoid Android is a custom rom focused on open devices. We aim to not simply add to Android but extend it, utilizing the same design philosophies Google uses with AOSP (Android Open Source Project).

CHANGELOGS:
[03/07]
WARNING
We are rolling out PA 5.0 Alpha 2 builds to the public right now, but first off, a big warning. As of right now, addon.d backup functions are not included in the build. This means you are required to manually flash GApps, SuperSU and all your other extras after flashing the Alpha 2 ZIP. Seriously, you have been warned - do not reboot without re-flashing the GApps package you use. (Unless you have backups.)
A large and fairly important part of the changes consists of Theme Engine improvements, but we are not skipping out on in-house changes. These builds feature the re-introduction of App Ops. Initially made available back in Android 4.3 as a hidden away feature that was later removed and left fairly untouched in AOSP, it has been revived for Android 5.0 and should make your permission restrictioning much easier to do. You can now also reorder your Quick Settings tiles. The layout for them is still the same - two expanded tiles at the top row and a slew of smaller tiles below that, but dragging tiles around allows you to pick their ordering manually instead of being restricted to the AOSP way.
Experiment with tile ordering and protect yourself against all the applications wanting to access all the things.
- Quick Settings are now reorder-friendly
- App Ops re-introduced in the Settings app
- CM TE updates included
[04/02]
- Update the baseline to AOSP Lollipop 5.0.2
- Improvements to Heads Up, such as an option to disable heads up interruptions completely
- Add Quick Unlock
- Extend the power menu
- Animate the volume panel in a more material manner
- Make it possible to skip songs using volume buttons when the device is locked
- Add CM12 Theme Engine
- Fix various small annoyances from AOSP

Seriously?

@ vlaaaad
woooooooooow, finally i will be the first to try it, go ahead

Yes. I'll post some screenshots in a few minutes. Now many features are missed. Right now Rom looks like stock AOSP cause it's their first release

Will this work well with Franco's kernel?

I think yes. Do a nandroid backup and check

We have an Official thread for it already? Why is this even needed?

I don't think you can make a thread like this...

We only have unofficial here
But it's not a problem to delete if I've to

Great timing, I was looking to upgrade to lollipop (from aospa kitkat)!

This thread is not needed at all. We have an Official Thread in the Original Development section and is heavily assisted by a PA Developer. Maybe searching next time would give you the answers you needed..

I found this tread but it doesn't update here I see only PA v 3

Which thread is the one for the latest Paranoid Android? The one OP linked to has been closed and also it has an old title of 4.4/4.5.
Until these issues are resolved I think OP's thread here is valid.

Hello keep up the good work.
The gapps link takes me to a closed thread, where can i download the gapps.
Thanks!

will give it a try, thx!
Welcome to the ROM scene. Looks like a very nice ROM and must say one of the most organized ROM explanatory post.
Sounds interesting, will probably have to give this a flash

Yeah I saw AdamG made a ROM for the Galaxy S2 named DevNull. Didn't think Oxygen could be even more "lighter" but this will be interesting
Thanks for the ROM!

It's working now
Note to everyone: there was an issue when I built the ROM, so I have to rebuild it entirely. It should take about 20min, so please be patient.
One thing I like about CM is the toggle widgets in the notification panel and non-intrusive notification sound, that is the notification sound does not interrupt my music. Are these two features also found in this ROM? I'm currently on stock ROM for its stability, but I really miss these two features.
Good. Waiting on the update. Will the power controls and oxygen settings from 2.3.4 work w this?

Fixed builds are up.
So far really loving the speed of this rom. Any plans on putting in the theme chooser? Or is there a way too?

Looks like a very nice rom!
Here's a few suggestions:
- Remove wallpapers and Live Wallpapers, they take away space and are not necessary.
- Add some menu to the Settings.apk for these:
-- Power Widgets
-- Torch
-- Battery Percentage
Also, what kernel is this using? I assume Netarchy 1.3.9 CFS.

By far the fastest and most stable 10.2 ROM I've flashed.
CM power widget and brightness slider in the notification pulldown, plus a lockscreen torch would make this a daily driver for me.
For now, I'm back to carbon 10.1 build - if the above are implemented, I would definitely be back.
This ROM has the speed of sentinel but looks and feels better.
Good work fellas, I'm very impressed

Guys,

We don't include it afaik, it just uses the cm one, and if cm doesn't include it, then it's the stock one.
We don't do anything to it though.

What are you calling lightweighted? Your Rom file has the same size than other cm/aosp ones, and list of features is more or less the same than Temasek's one, slimrom, crdroid.
More choice is better than less btw.

its lightweight by the means it runs very well on older devices, more is good to an extent, but too much can get in the way of getting work done and can become overwhelming. its trying to offer the latest without any lag or stability issues. temasek, simrom, and crdroid arent available to a huge variety of devices. we are taking ideas from slim, paranoid, and such roms to make one united rom that does not clog or slow down over time of use.
New server!
We got response for our new build server! Waiting for access credentials to connect to it...
The new one will be basketbuild. This also means that v1 is closer than ever...

No thank you You are the developer here
Been using this ROM for 24 hours now and it will be staying as my daily ROM.
It's fast (not as fast as cm11 I feel though but could just be down to animations) very stable and a good all round ROM with excellent features. The heads up and lockscreen notifications are my favorite additions and save lots of time.
Only feature I would request is more status bar customisation because it feels limited. Things like clock centering, date display etc.
The added third party apps (Chinese?) would have been better as an optional thing too. I use UC Browser but the language barrier made it useless to me thus just taking up space until I manually removed them.
Battery life seems reasonable with greenify and all system mods on but BlackSP ROM seemed slightly better but this ROM is in no way bad battery life.
Very stable with no fc's at all so far. Very excellent work

The ROM is smooth and faster, no have important bugs, good work man!
My apologies for the lack of an update. Work has gotten unexpectedly busy, will sync sources this morning (I work late nights) and try to get a build out later today (5 or 6 pm EST)

Have you tried any of these things link
Side note might be dropping this project, made a test build of LiquidSmooth (no wifi & no camera) and I like it a lot better so I may be focusing my efforts there.

Well thanks for the help I Judy got it my stock room was 4.4.3 and I needed to update. I also did that link before you posted and it did work. But it could have been both. Kitkat is so sick with a phone that can handle it. I'm coming from obsolete droids and my last one had kitkat but that's all it could run because of resources.

My last phone was a g2x...develpment stopped on that with gingerbread. One of the first dual core phones in the us and no support from LG, made for some upset people. But they did with a class action suit against LG because of it.
Does anyone else have a problem with GPS? My actual GPS does not seem to work.

I don't know much but about PA, but does it include the feature which lets the Navbar's color adapt to the currently open app?

It's mentioned here, just not sure if it's implemented at the latest one.
As we just did a little update a few days ago, the change log is not that long for this version bump, but here goes:
Introduce Dynamic System Bars
Introduce the swipe-up gesture to dismiss Hover
Get rid of possible slowness during I/O on the stock kernel for hammerhead
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55194330&postcount=53
I know, but I wasn't able to find where I can activate this. And currently I have different ROM on my phone.

Credits and all that fancy stuff on the way. I'm lagging. Please test. This is a testing rom. No problems building it. Not my work. Donate to Vanir directly, or to charity. I'm just a build whore. NOT a dev. No credit to me. Thanks.

Thanks, LOL. That was the 3rd one... wow. IDK how it does that. I had one in the ATT room too... good call... So far rom runs pretty good.
Ha! And I thought I finally got in a first reply. Thanks again!
Why you always create 2 thread for a rom? Easier for copy dev project and made some change to create new thread

Tried the commotio rom for the m8 yesterday, it appears that vanir is using CM for the base now which kind of sucks because I'd love to have seen them stick with an aosp base. Still a cool rom though either way.

Dude I have no idea what's going on. XDA is on drugs. I was dead sober last night
New build up. Going to be making Team-M8 MM kernel images too.
Couldn't get past the transfer device info after WiFi setup.

TYeam-M8 kernel. idk if it will help some of the issues
Crashes after WiFi setup , says google play services error and crashes. Tried m8 kernel also, with same result. Tried open gaps and banks gaps. Must be problem in build.

HI,
Are you confirming that everything works on the Tipsy build?
If so, what process did you follow? Am GSM international
Flashed tipsey m8 alpha v3.0 20151128-1701.zip and then flashed Banks 6.0, gaps and exposed v78-23. After flash and setup, then flashed extreme music mod and Dolby atmos 6.5. Could be your gaps?? Some aren't working I've found banks is the best . I'm using a Verizon model with a T-Mobile sim. Let me know where your getting hung up in the install.
Is this rom rooted?
Sent from my m8 using XDA Free mobile app
OK I got it to boot and so far no problems. I tried Banks gaps and open and many other's. Ended up going to there Google plus community and then there link to there download page for all ROMs by vanir. In it is gaps 60arm-DHO-Gaps.zip . I used that gaps with the build in this thread and it booted and cleared setup with no crashes.
Here is the link for vanir gaps from there community page on Google plus.

As for the question above me asking if it's rooted. All these are rooted whether it has SuperSU installed on boot or not. Just goto about phone, hit build several times to get developer options up and then in developer options about five down will be root access. It's at no be default . You can change it for apps, or ADB, or both. It will prompt you like SuperSU when a app is asking for root permission. Same as SuperSU
