When a pixel is black on a POLED display is it off, just as the moto x or Samsung phones?
Yes.
It's the same, just plastic instead of glass.

I used Gelaskins on my Galaxy Nexus and I was very happy with it. It came with the front piece but I didnt use it. It just borders the screen. So it's not a true screen protector.
The Gnex has a textured back and it stuck to it perfectly for several months. So I am sure you would not have any issues on the Note 2

Any one here have a colored glass screen protector? LIke red or blue? Post pics. Are you happy with it? Sensitivity or any other type of issues?
Never seen one, what's the point if it being colored?

The point is the same as colored glasses. When I was young I thought the blue glasses were cool because they made the grass white like snow. Further some people do not like the tent of the Note 2 and want a warmer or cooler tint to the screen and a colored screen protector could make that happen.
Its not a color/tinted screen protector. It is basically a skin for the face of the note with a screen protector integrated. It will make your note look a different color by covering either the white or gray area of the face depending on what color note you have.

Has anyone been able to take off the stock screen protector, or is it more of a laminate?

There isn't one

An unattached one was included in the box for me - I screwed up the application and had to take it off immediately and use one of the extras I'd bought.
I think Sony putt an anti-shatter layer on all their phones, which is what you might be seeing (and is what I suspect makes Sony screens more reflective than other manufacturers).
I'm pretty certain there isn't the anti shatter layer on my sp. There is on on my s and tablet z, you can clearly see the edge of it close to the edge of the screen glass.

Maybe. I think the SP is the only Sony phone with gorilla glass?

As I stated in the thread I started about screen protectors. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447683I can only comment on there screen protectors. I dont care for them because they are a wet application and they have a rubbery feel to them I think. And from what I had on my Rezound you could tell it really took away from the clarity of the screen. I do like the fact that they cut out the holes for the camera and sensors though. Instead of just notching it out from the left side of the camera to the right side of the ear speaker.
