[Q] Use Mobile data while connected to wifi? Is it possible? ? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't find an answer to this question anywhere. I want to use upnp for streaming video over a wifi connection that does not have Internet access. But of course, once wifi connects, mobile data is disconnected.
I was just using hotspot to create a link before. That worked just fine for streaming media that was already saved on my device, but is frustrating for streaming online video as Sprint times out my data connection every 15-30 minutes while hotspot is active. That problem seems to be only with my HTC One, because I've never experienced that before. But it can't be solved.
So my question is still, how can I stream media over wifi using cellular data? Are there any files I can edit to prevent the mobile cutout when on wifi?

Did you find a solution? I recently purchased a Bebop drone which is controlled via WiFi, for which I use my phone. I'm wondering whether it is possible to still use Mobile Data while I'm connected to the Drone's WiFi signal. My phone is a Oneplus One running latest CM12 Nightly.

Streaming Media

Is anyone else having a problem with streaming media on the kaiser? Video nor audio work from any source for me.
How did you connect to the internet?
(1) Via Wi-Fi using my wireless router
Mostly, you will not directly connected to the internet.
In this case, YES, streaming media will NOT work.
(2) Via 3G/HSDPA/Edge/Gprs
Then it should work fine.

Why do you reckon it makes any difference for streaming ? As long as we're not talking about any streaming provided by gsm network operator it shouldn't make any difference.

Did those sources work from your pc ?
The Streaming Media needs to have public IP address (directly connected).
It is a known issue :

By default, wireless router does not forward UDP traffic that are required by the HTC Streaming Media.

I actually figured out how to fix it. it's not an issue with the kaiser (this is my first pda phone) its with att. If you are on the unlimited medianet for 20 bucks a month like I am, you have to go into connection settings and uncheck the 'use proxy' box. It only affects using the apn of wap.cingular and not those that use isp.cingular (which is for the data connect plan) Thanks for your replies though! If anyone knows why this works I would be happy to know. Thanks again

can you tell me more about how to make this work??
Do a search for shogun at&t .cab settings file it will fix all your woes. I believe it is the Hermes section but it works on the Kaiser, I tried it. I use the $20 Media Max plan and tether with my laptop all the time and no problem. I do not however treat it like a home broadband connection and hog all the bandwidth like some people want to do. Remember it is a wireless connection and you should treat it as such.

streaming video "rtsp" using wifi

Hi, I'm having some problems watching video streams using HTC streaming media .
I've tried different sites, and they all work when i'm using IE and 3G, EDGE or GPRS connections. But when I try using my WiFi connection (tried using both encrypted and open networks) I get an "cannot find network connection" error. Anybody got the sollution.
Have you gone into the streaming media options and changed how its connecting? It might be trying to find your data connection instead of using the Wifi, it should switch automatically thought...

I think I tried just about every possible setting. My WiFi connection is set to "Internet" and so i streaming media.. I also tried when connected to my computer with same result..
any fix yet? I too am having this issue...
Hmm, there's been issues with the WiFi set to Auto that people have had with it connecting, but if you have a network connection that is functioning with its current settings then its something else.
Are you using the internal streaming media player or a third party one?
Edit: Okay I just goofed off with it and had the same issue, went into my Wlan settings under Power Options, I changed the setup from Best Battery (or auto if your's is set to it) to Best Performace and it worked imidiately, your phone is killing it because it kills battery power.
Hope that helps
Download TCPMP with the Flashvideobundle.
You can watch every movie you want.

I am having the exact same problem if anyone figures this out please message me

[Q] Problem: Wifi disconnecting each time I stream a video.

Hey,
I am using the motorola xt860 droid 3. Owned it for about a month.
Each time i try streaming a video from youtube for example, it streams for about 10-40secs, then wifi disconnects and error comes up saying "cannot play video". As soon as the video stream closes off (due to error), the wifi begins to reconnect and connects successfully once again.
The problem is not the wifi network because someone else streams video from their iphone as normal.
This only recently started occuring. Please help.
Thanks
Have you tried streaming using your XT860 on a friend's wifi network? Or a hotspot? Does the same issue occur?
Or... I know you don't want to mess with your wifi network, but have you checked if there is a firmware update for your wireless router? Back when I had my Desire Z i had a similar problem, then after updating my firmware on my wireless router, I didn't experience the problem any more. Good luck!
Hey,
Well apparently the problem was with the internet connection/router. I was on an offshore rig and the internet connection was not the best. Because now that im back home, on my own wifi connection, the problem is not happening again.
Thanks for the info, if it ever happens again i would be sure to try that.
Thanks alot.

It's not an issue, it works like that... You cannot have both activated at the same time...

Just one question.
If you have smart TV, and TV have WiFi module, why do you need to "share" WiFi to connect TV to network?
Connect it directly to main WiFi network
Good question.
My TV Samsung 48 inches Model UA48H6400 started giving problem like the WiFi connection drops while Netflix moving on playing. The Netflix get stuck at 25%. I can see the Internet WiFi connection lost from TV. Turning off the TV WiFi gets back and Netflix will run for about 30 minutes and then again WiFi connection drops. I have tried changing IP settings to DNS manual and set to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 but the problem exists.
So I did turning off TV WiFi connection from router and connect TV with phones WiFi tethering. So I enjoyed Netflix for 2 days with no Internet problem.
Then the phone WiFi tethering started drops when I turn on phones WiFi hotspot tethering and so far no solution found in YouTube or any other source.
I got another interim solution which is I turn on my phones Bluetooth tethering with WiFi Bluetooth bridge. So Netflix is running no problem so far but don't know when this process will be corrupted.
Hope I have explained the situation.
Thank you

Question Connect Phone to his own tethered network

Hi !
I have a S21 Ultra, and use it as a modem for my house with wifi tethering.
I can access my printer with my computer on this wifi network
But here is the problem : I can't access the device on this network from my phone.
I can't print from my phone,
I can't use app mirroring on Windows (open samsung flagship apps on W10 computer) because both S21 and computer have to be on the same wifi network.
Is there any way to make the phone part of his own wifi tethering ? Or workaround ?
Thanks !
no what your trying to do is hack someones phone....its not gonna happen!!!!

Don't understand your message... It's my own phone that doesn't detect itself in the wifi network list. I have no problem to connect network from one phone onto another. It is on the same phone, both emitter and receiver

I think you can try to make a hotspot on the PC and share wifi (from the phone) to the PC hotspot and connect the printer itself to the PC hotspot
Tethering is like connecting a modem to a device. Hotspot is creating a local wifi network for devices to connect to.
Tethering vs Hotspot: Difference and Comparison
Tethering allows a device to share its internet connection with other devices via a physical connection (such as USB), while a hotspot creates a Wi-Fi network to share the device's internet connection wirelessly.
askanydifference.com
Based on your description you are creating a hotspot on the phone that the laptop and printer connect to? If so then the phone cannot "join" that network as the wifi stack in the phone is being used to run a network and the phone has access to the mobile data network the wifi is representing.
No, only the computer connects to the phone.
but create a second hotspot on the computer that connects the printer to the computer

Your phone wifi module can either act as a broadcaster or receiver at a time, but not both. It will only handle one wifi network at a time, either the one it's broadcasting (endogenous mobile hotspot) or the one it's receiving (exogenous WiFi)
You can see this as a prompt when you turn on mobile hotspot. Whenever you turn on Wifi Hotspot, your WiFi will automatically get turned off. It will even display a notification and ask for your consent (at least mine does)

Wow! That's nice to hear. Haven't used that feature on a phone before. Didn't know it was doable. Well, I guess you learn something new everyday.
thats what hackers and LEA use.....smh
