Galaxy Gear/Gear Manager Working on G Flex - LG G Flex

Hi XDA, not sure if anyone posted about this so if have please don't be jerks about a repeated post because i didn't see one.
but as noted i managed to get the Gear to sync with the T-Mobile G Flex heres how.
1. download gearmanagerstub.apk from here (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407582643)
-install it (make sure your device has unknown sources checked in security settings)
2. download "gear manager 1.6 111801.apk" to your PC from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593066)
-Rename the APK to "gear manager 1.6 111801.zip"
3.Open the zip or extract it (it really doesnt matter)
-Copy the folder "preinstalledapk" to your phone or sdcard (that doesnt matter either)
4. Use whatever file manager your used too or root browser to find the folder "preinstalledapk" and open it
-Install every apk in the folder (AGAIN MAKE SURE UNKNOWN SOURCES IS ENABLED IN YOUR SECURITY SETTINGS)
-Two of the APKS wont install "samusic" and "saweather" , as of now idk why, it might be a system app thing ...again idk.
-after you install all of the APKs u can delete the folder if u want.
5. download "gear manager 1.6 111801.apk" to your phone and install it
6. use the setup wizard to connect the gear to your phone by clicking "Manual" , (it may take 2-3 times to work mine took 2)
-and im not sure if watchstyler is available in the playstore for lg devices so i used aptoide to find it & there are some xda members posting some nice custom watchfaces
-Hope i helped someone thanks and enjoy

[How to] Install an app

I want to install Opera Mini on my G1. the apk is out there but I can not figure out a way to make it run load do anything. Anyone no how to make this happen?
For those wondering why I want Opera Mini is becoz I really like Opera mini in a hurry.
You have to make sure to check the box that says allow outside downloads. But the opera mini wont work its for the old beta emulator and will not load on thre G1.
install???
How exactly do we install third party off the market apps??? I have apk extensions. now what???
Credits go to: Blogsdna.com
I have seen on many users asking on forum what is .apk file ? How to install .apk app on G1 phone ? How to install non market apk apps on android ? etc. A apk file is “android package file” with the extension ‘.apk’ use to install any application on Google Android powered mobile phone. So incase you need to install any application on your android phone you need to have file with .apk format.
Installing any application on google android is pretty easy but installing non market apps on android phone is little tricky one. Well don’t worry here is guide for installing .apk apps on android phones.
How to Install .Apk Apps on Google Android G1 Phone
1. Install and open the Apps Installer application from the Android Market.
2. This opens a view showing *.apk application names in the sdcard root directory.(note, if no AppNames are listed you have no .apk files in the root directory of the SDCard)
3. Touch the app name to initiate installation of the app.
4. The app is now installed
How to Non-Market .Apk Application on Google Android G1 Phone
1. Download and install Google Android SDK.
2. Now type adb in a command shell will display all the options, adb.exe is SDK tool used to install applications and interface with the device.
3. Now Connect Your G1 Phone to your computer using USB cable. You need to install Drivers for this. Download Android USB drivers from here. This driver is required for adb to interface with an android G1 phone using USB cable.
4. Go to Settings/SD card & phone storage and Unmount/eject SD Card. You can enable it again later after you installed your third-party application.
5. Go to Settings/Application settings and enable Unknown sources.
6. Download the Application installer .apk file to a local folder on your computer, Now type below command at command shell to install app.
adb install <Full Path to apk file><apk file name>
The above guide is only application for windows XP users and Windows Vista users wont be able to use it, since android sdk for windows vista is not available.

I have Opera mini 4.2 apk in my files if you need it.

There's no such menu. i.e. "disable Use for USB storage" at "Settings/SD card & phone storage" in T-mobile G1.
To enable ADB, you'll need to turn on "USB debugging" in Settings - Application settings - Development.
Opera mini 4.2 beta is on marketplace now anyway.
actually, there is another way. download the app from the internet (either using Android or PC) and move it to the SD card. then download any file browser app (such as IO File Manager) from Android market. open file browser app and locate the downloaded app from the internet and open it. that's it...
Can you add Twidroid to the mix

Thanks!
this should b made a sticky
FYI: Opera is also on SlideME Marketplace. You can install directly from within SAM. It's under "Communications" category.
If you don't have SAM, just visit http://SlideME.org/sam2 from your G1 and download SAM.
help... please? lol
okay i've read through a lot of threads the past couple hours and i just can't figure this out. i can't install 3rd party apps using apps installer or a file manager, but i can install perfectly fine from the market. it tells me that i need to free up some space in order to do so. i have the box checked and such for installing 3rd party apps in settings, and i'm running JF1.42 RC33... what the heck could the problem [email protected]
might be a dumb question, but do you have enough space(mine starts complaining @ less than 5mb left)? menu-settings-storage-internal space.
try adb install, if previous post doesn't help
aye, i'm well above 5MB even without the /data/data move and the /app move, i believe i'm somewhere around 25mb if i keep everything on my phone. so you think the ADB install will fix this? i will have to try it when i get off of work, i don't think the DoD will take kindly to me using their computers for it lol. what thread is that listed under?
Very Simple to install downloaded apk apps!!!
1. Go into menu/settings/applications and check the box allow install of non-market applications.
2. Then download the app: ApkInstaller
Once you do this, you download the apk file from the internet. Save it somewhere on your memory card. Open ApkInstaller and search for the file on your memory card and install.
It's just that simple. I do it all of the time.
Have fun!
Install .apk
Through Terminal Emulator without adb or another install application (AppsInstaller):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3425442#post3425442
All these methods seem pretty confusing... All I do is just click allow third party apps and then click the .apk file in oi file manager.
If you realize when this thread was created, there was no file manager

It is called 'Android Injector' You may find it somwhere on XDA
Yes the "Android Injector" will allow you to install apk from the PC.
Make the the "Other Sources" tab under application in the setting is checked.
If you are connected to the Phone via USB, then why do you need the "Injector"?
Just copy the apk into the SD card and then from Astro or other file manager get the apk and click on it to install. Again the tab "Other Sources" must checked.
The advantage of the 2nd method is that you keep a copy of the apk in an apps folder and can always reinstall from there if the need arises.

[Q] Xposed installer does not install

Hi, i have a Moto G and I did the OS upgrade ... now it has kitkat 4.4.2
After the upgrade, the Xposed Installer did not work anymore ... it was uninstalled apparently. I said "apparently" because some modules work.
So, I tried to download and install the last version of Exposed Installer ... but without success. The installer starts and run ... after some moments it says "App not installed".
I uninstalled all modules and tried again, but the Exposed Installer always shows "App not installed".
Can anyone help me ?
i had this problem before, you need any file manager and navigate to Android/data/ then you have to find the xposed installer folder and delete it then reinstall the apk

thank you so much for this !!
After upgrading to Marshmallow (Resurrection Remix) on S4 GT-I9500, the xposed apk file was not installing.
I had followed all instructions, proper .zip and .apk files, even clearing cache, etc. but nothing was working.
However, I found this solution on the net and it works!
xposed is active now.

After trying to post the message, I realised that since I am new to the forum I am not allowed to post external links.
But google "xposed app not installed" without the quotes and you will see the solution on a website (may be 4th or 5th from top) called mrad4tech.blogspot
This is what it says (credit to original author):
(1) Root enabled ES file explorer required
(2) Copy the not working .apk to system/app (retain the .apk file in original location for step 6, if required)
(3) Reboot phone
(4) You will see the application in the app drawer
(5) Try opening the app (this worked for me so I did not have to go to next step)
(6) If it force closes then install the .apk (in original location) now normally and it will work

[GUIDE] Galaxy Gear working with Motorola Moto G

Hi all,
After lots of trial and error I've found a way to get the Gear working (with basic functionality) with the Motorola Moto G, so just posting here in case it helps anybody else. There are probably other ways of doing it but this is how I did it. Lots of other methods I've seen gave lots of force crashes and heartache, but finally found a method that works well. Hopefully it will work for you too.
Software version on watch: V700XXUBNC1
I'm on stock Android 4.4.4
It should work with other versions (4.2+)
Phone needs unlocked bootloader.
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
Phone needs to be rooted or some apk's will fail to install.

Get relevant Gear Manager files here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573200
Gear Manager stub file here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/qlayo2n3m6cnrxb/GR.GearManagerStub.apk
-Install gearmanagerstub.apk to /system/app on your Moto G.
-Download Gear Manager 2.1.14062401 apk
-Download Gear Manager 2.1.14052101 then rename the .apk file to .zip
-Open the file in winrar and go to assets/preinstallapks folder.
-Extract the following file: connectionmanager_signed.apk
-Install the file Gear Manager 2.1.14062401 apk on your Moto G
-Install connectionmanager_signed.apk last
-Reset your Galaxy Gear if not already
-Open Gear Manager on your phone
-Go to system>bluetooth turn on bluetooth and pair up watch+phone
-Accept the bluetooth pairing on both devices (it may take a few attempts to have them co-operating)
-Install all the files that your phone asks you to install.
-Try to pair them up (obviously we don't have NFC but just keep trying to connect them and it will succeed)
-Keep trying until it connects and succeeds to finish the setup and the watch works
If you get any lockups then just go into settings>apps>gear1 plugin and force stop then clear data and try again.
Both devices must have a valid bluetooth connection at the same time.
Job done.:good:
N.B. This will only give basic functionality for your device, but at least it works with the Moto G
Working:
Watch faces
Camera picture transfer
Camera video transfer
Calls
Watch Styler (needs separate install)
Pedometer
Contacts
Call log
Can sideload apps
USB debug
Wake-up gesture
Gallery
Media controller volume control with google play music app
Not working:
weather
s-voice
notifications
hidden apps after reboot
Media controller previous/next track, play/pause with google play music app
A couple of pics from the watch:
Nice, curious, what made you use files from two gear manager versions? Looking at your screenshot, it looks like your Gear is on android like mine. Does notifications work? I have a Note 3 but with aosp on it and always had a hard time getting notifications to work. I did find a workaround using Notisync and floating notifications. I may try this method if notifications are working natively.
I tried multiple different combos of files to try to get it all installed. I only did this because most of the main newer apk packages wouldn't install properly so I just decided to try older ones and I was suprised it made the thing work well.
Weather and S-Voice won't work though but that seems to be a foregone conclusion. Can always sideload apps to get around a few of these. Native notifications seem to be another thing that's not working.
I'll give the APN manager a go shortly. Although I think it might affect the battery life a fair bit. Notifications from apps already on the gear work fine.
An annoyance is that apps are hidden on the device when you restart it, or when it loses the bluetooth connection. Yet to find out what's causing this, although the apps are still on the gear.
I got it working very simply on my non rooted Moto G
My gear was running null ROM though.
I just installed the gear manager as in the nexus 5 guide and it worked. I used ATN manager and tasgear for notifications.

I see your on Android? When I was running Android with my LG G3, notifications wouldn't work for me either, I switched to Tizen, had to install the most recent Gear Manager, but now all works except for s-voice and weather...notifications was the biggest thing I wanted and it works perfectly for any app.
I just installed the Gearmanagerstub apk, copied it into system/app and set the permissions, then installed Gearmanager 2.1xxxx apk, installed, fixed permissions and ran it, it asked to reset the gear, I let it, and it installed all the needed applications automatically. Synced the watch and it all works.

I had Tizen but couldn't get notifications to work with an aosp rom. Worked great with TW. Hmmm, i may try what you did and see what happens. All of the guides out there always state to extract the files from gear manager and install each apk one by one but you did yours as if you had a TW phone and it worked.

Ok i tried what you did but no dice for me. I removed 2 gear manager apks from my eclipse note 3 and did basically everything you said. It just kept saying connecting to gear forever. So i stopped it. Installed each extracted apk from the new gear manager. It connected. I setup my notifications and sent myself a test email. My gear notified me! At this point i'm happy as that was my major thing to have working.
Sounds like with Tizen it may work differently then. I've not tried Tizen at all yet. Do you remember which apk file got your notifications to work please JagXK8?
I also forgot to mention the step above that the phone will attempt to install several apks and those need to be accepted and installed. I will change the first post to reflect this so thanks for reminding me.
Just a note to say I tried many, many file combinations before getting this to work on the Moto G, so if not using the exact same files I linked it most likely fail to connect to the watch. I'm sure it will require different files for different phones. If anyone finds a different combination please list the files used.:good:

I used the gearmanagerstub.apk. Moved it to \system\app and set permissions. Downloaded the latest Gear Manager apk which right now is 2.1.14071502. Installed it but didn't open it. Changed gear manager apk to zip and installed each apk. I had to install Gear2.apk instead of Gear1.apk. Rebooted in recovery and fixed permissions. Opened Gear Manager, set my notifications, then when i enabled more notifications, it took me to security to enable Gear Manager to read notifications (this is already set to on if you have a touchwiz rom). Sent myself a test email and it worked

Ok. I don't get it. When I did mine, all I had to do was reset the Gear and install the latest Gear Manager. It asked me to install multiple apks and I did. That's it. And that's with a stock G2 unrooted. I've since rooted and installed Galaxy Apps and got that all working but I just don't get why there isn't one set way of linking the watch with a non-Samsung phone.
Weird
Sent from my SM-G900F-LG G2 using XDA Free mobile app
Different files seem to work on different devices, different versions of OS's, etc, which is lucky, but annoying. I guess it would be a lot of work to incorporate everything into one file to work on every device so would assume that's just another reason why Samsung didn't make it for devices outside their 'ecosystem'.
Hopefully this thread might help others with Moto G phones save a bit of time.

Like the OP stated.. the lenovo K910 seems to work fine with the suggested versions.
It worked with my LG G3 straight, but, after uninstalling all my old trial remnants of files. I got the message "problem parsing file" I redownloaded the files and installed them from the external SD card, and every thing was OK. Thank you very much

Problem with Nexus 5 Lollipop and Gear 1

HI!
I have a problem with my Galaxy Gear 1.
I recently upgraded my Nexus 5 with Android 5.0 Lollipop and now I can not sync with the Gear 1.
I use this tutorial :
Install gearmanagerstub.apk on your phone
Download Gear Manager 1.6.111801 — and rename the APK to ZIP
Open the ZIP and go to assets/preinstallapks
Install each of the individual APK files to your device one by one (note that music and weather will not install)
Install the full Gear Manager 1.6.111801 APK (the actual APK, not the ZIP)
Pair your Galaxy Gear to the phone (it may take more than a few tries either by NFC or manually)
Install ATNManager 1.2.2
Allow ATNManager access via Settings > Security > Notification Access
Within ATNManager, choose what notifications you'd like to receive on your Galaxy Gear
the problem is when i try to sync with my phone, stays in "Conect with Gear" and a sign appears "Error to conect with phone" but in bluetooth phone list it's linked.
Anyone can help me?
*Sorry for my bad english (i from Argentina)
