Greetings to all..
I'm a proud owner of a HTC ONE (m7)
Recently i downloaded the Android 5 update for my device... (unlocked)
RUU_M7_UL_K443_SENSE60_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.07.1540.2_Radio_4T.28.3218.04_10.33E.1718.01L_release_404528_signed_2.exe
from HTC USA site...
I have been having problems instaling it to my device...
First of all, i found a bit strange that in the update info says... i'm updating from OS 6.09.401.11 to 6.07.1540.2.. ( Isnt it suposed to be a higher value or something that the one i run now?
And then.. in the update part.. it stops and signals the 155 error...
My Question is... Wtf is that... What am I doing wrong..?
My phone info:
*** Unlocked ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT- 1.57.0000
RADIO- 4T.29.3218.08
OpenDsp-v32.120.274.0909
OS-6.09.401.11
Running android 4.4.3
Thank you in advance... and sorry for my english.

You can't jump from .401 (European version) to .1540 (Developer Version). You first need S-OFF, Change CID to BS_US001 and MID to PN0712000.
And then.. in the update part.. it stops and signals the 155 error...

Error 155 mean that this RUU is not for your phone
Thank you for reply ...
Feel such a noob at this point..
Well.. the main question after all your info is...
Is it worth the search in how to.... "You first need S-OFF, Change CID to BS_US001 and MID to PN0712000." ? ( Is it hard to do all this? )
Or do you think is better for me to way for the update?
I have some knowledge in changing roms and etc...
But in the one.. the far as i go for now was unlocking bootloader thru htc tuturial...
Thank you again..

The only way to S-OFF phone on hboot 1.57 is to use Sunshine S-OFF which cost 25$
Changing cid (s-off required) is as simple as "fastboot oem writecid BS_US001"
Changing mid (s-off required) to PN0712000 require to use this tool from custom recovery
Then you can flash the 7.17.1540.7 dev edition RUU
Turned it to F*Developer mode

My device is natively 1.28.61.7 cid ORANG001 (UK EE/Orange/T-Mobile) although my bootloader is unlocked and I have been running custom software since I got it.
I have successfully s-offed my device with revone, removed the tampered warning and set super cid just with the fastboot method.
My question is...Can I permanently 'debrand' my device and continually receive and install stock updates by
1 Changing my cid to HTC__001 by the fastboot method.
2 Running a 1.2x.401.x RUU
3 Receive and install ota updates.
Will this scenario work as I have seen many conflicting answers on this forum and, if yes, do I need my bootloader locked or unlocked??
Also, if this scenario proves to be successful, where would it leave me if a subsequent ota update closes the s-off loophole??
Any informed assistance would me much appreciated.
To completely debrand:
S-OFF
Supercid
Flash a unbranded RUU
change your cid to HTC_001( or one you want)
You will receive OTA and all you need

you DO NOT need to lock bootloader
it can stay unlocked
and you NEED supercid to flash the RUU
after flashed RUU, change you cid to HTC_001

If you're on a custom ROM then you don't need to change your CID. It's only if running stock is it important

With Supercid you can't receive Official OTAs, so you have to set your cid to the One that receives updates First! for example, if your hear updates start rolling out in France for the french CID HTC_203, you just have to change your cid to HTC_203 and update via OTA, even if bootloader is unlocked, the most important for official updates is the CID!
If you're going to put supercid, that allow you to rom/firmware/ruu independantely from the CID, but not automatic official updates, just manual ones via recovery or fastboot (ruu).
Hope it clears out things

So quick question, I also have a Orange handset running 1.28.61.7... did you manage to S-off your device? ?
Just all i can see is there is no S-off for this software variant... please help.
Although when the device has a different model ID then the OTA will not install.
For example if your device has MID PN0714000 and you are trying to install OTA update 1.29.401.X then it will fail.

The software variant your running does not matter.
What matters is the CID and the MID.
I've posted the sections you need to read in the thread you opened.

Hey.
Im currently runing 4.3 GE on my HTC ONE. Did it with 4.3 GE RUU.
And sence touchgroup didn't release their RUU, I don't know to go back.
I thought about going back to some RUU of sense 5 4.1 (mabye 2.24.401.x) , and changing my Cid and ModelID to
PN0711000
HTC__K18
and get the 4.2.2 - 2.24.401.9 OTA update.
Is this possible? thanks.

That's good. So if I understand correctly you want to go back to 2.24.401.2 to be able to receive the OTA to 2.24.401.9? If yes then here's the backup:
stock rom: (originally for HTC__J15)
backup_2.24.401.2.zip 992.9 MB
https://mega.co.nz/#!bJFwTK5A!dFlFjw9hCq98SHxPKC9jxRn9GdwcvcoBcKaDdn2pQJU
stock recovery:
Stock_recovery_2.24.401.1.img 8.5 MB
https://mega.co.nz/#!PQ9BnSBS!ZAqGcgKi7hXiXDXFs7yKaEQASMgcab5t4vjw19__92A
probably best to also flash a 2.24.401.1 firmware (or 2.24.401.2, don't think it's available though).
PS: the procedure you are about to take will probably wipe your phone so backup everything to your PC

so before the above, you should run a full Sense 5 RUU (exe), get one from the Guru: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/
to restore everything to HTC Sense not GPe, then you can proceed with above
anyway keep S-Off, that's your ticket if something goes bad.
I'm about to sign off for tonight, so if I don't reply tonight, I'll check in on you tomorrow....

2- Unfortunately, just changing CID and MID to "TouchGroup" (or any other carrier), won't be good enough to get OTAs, you need to be based on their ROM.
3- Other alternative: change CID and MID to European WWE (unbranded), run the RUU.exe and get OTAs that way. (the phone will look like a completely unbranded European WWE edition)

So now I'm on :

Android 4.3 Google Edition
system vers: 3.07.1700.1
Cid: HTC__K18
Mid: PN0711000
And I'm willing to flash Sense 5 - 2.24.401.9 - 4.2.2 RUU. ------- which only workes with my current Cid and Mid.
Would it go smooth? I'm going from 4.3 to 4.2.2... (I'm also asking about the downgrade, but generally on the whole procces.)
Hello,
I have looked on xda for an answer before i started this thread but couln't really find the answer or solution i'm personally looking for.. The problem is a friend of mine is S-On with an ex-contract HTC One (M7) CID is something like VODA..... and his HBoot is 1.57.0000 - I'm trying to S-Off his phone so he can get rid of the Vodafone and Flash Firmware and European RUU (This is i can do) but i need to S-Off it 1st ... I installed TWRP so as to root his phone and unlocked the bootloader (HTCDev unlock token) BUT now the problem is, he's just had the Lollipop 5.02 OTA update and of course, cannot instal it with TWRP present :/ i was told just to flash Stock recovery over it? is this correct? and if so, how would i go about it please and how would i get S-Off on his mobile please? I'm lead to believe that Sunshine S-Off is the only option with that HBoot version.. ?
Many thanks in advance to xda and its members :good:

better to achieve s-off now before taking the ota update or you will need to wait for the new release of sunshine (3.0).

No you don't understand, you must use the fastboot version posted at page 4 or it will not work. Read the post you'll understand. The regular fastboot from the Android sdk won't work for this RUU.

do not flash that firmware whilst s-on, its modified firmware and will brick your phone, you need s-off to change your CID or falsh any different firmware than vodafone firmware.
I discovered that last night i kinda knew anyway that i could not change the CID without S-Off but with everything going on i forgot.. iv'e decided to stick Android Revolution HD 91.1 on his HTC One.. at least he'l have 5.02 and a quick & reliable OS ... iv'e head that 5.02 is the last OTA update for the M7 so it wouldn't matter if he can't update ..cheers for your help anyway
Sorry, i only read half your reply - will i need to change CID for Android Revolution HD? will this be safe to flash onto his device please?

I have an ATT M7. I am on T-Mobile. The phone is now unlocked. It is still running Android 4.3.
ATT software update doesn't find any updates - presumably because I need an ATT sim in there.
So how can I upgrade this to 4.4 and later 5.0?
Thanks!

Thanks @alray
So I did more reading and yes developer edition or change CID and MID to T-Mobile
All require S-OFF.
So I need to unlock boot loader, install TWRP, S-OFF. etc?
This is the blue Best Buy version ATT - but ATT just unlocked it.

thats why I asked for your fastboot getvar all, unlock your bootloader and use rumrunner to s-off, do not take any updates until you get s-off as it gets harder the higher HBOOT you have.

well from there you can either follow clsA link and change to developer edition, which will require changing cid, mid and flash the RUU, dev edition gets the quickest updates, although its very touch and go at the moment as to whether the M7 is going to get anymore updates, or you can do the same with the latest T-mo RUU which is here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-t-mobile/news/ that will also require you to change your cid and mid, after doing that follow the manual instructions on the HTC site, download link for the RUU is at the bottom.
Thanks!

Darn it. Read this too late. OK, I changed CID to T-MOB010 and MID to PN0713000.
At this point, do I just run an RUU at some point? Hope it works.

I used Sunshine to get S-OFF. Everywhere I read, it says I need to have the boot loader locked to apply the RUU. However, while contacting the sunshine authors, they told me that despite what I have read, I don't have to relock. Is this true?

no you dont need to lock as your s-off, unlocked is fine.
locked / relocked for flashing firmware or RUU's is only required for s-on users and limited to 1 step forward or current only.
So now the ruu times out on sending.......
So I extracted the rom.zip. If I flash it from twrp since it has a recovery image in it, will it overwrite twrp?
I'm assuming yes and then I would have to fast boot twrp back again.
Is this correct? Thanks
Gave up and installed Maximus HD. Works fine. Just wanted to be on 5.0 to test things.
