Has anyone tried this? Theres now a flashable zip to enable MaxxAudio but I'm not sure if it would work.
Requires root and a custom recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/themes-apps/app-05q-maxxaudio-lib-t3026967
I've been using the MaxxAudio equalizer included in the newest OnePlus One update. (You can find the apk in the OnePlus forums).
I can't say anything about the libs as I'm only using the app but everything seems to be working as intended except the "Maxx Volume" option which seems to do a whole lot of nothing without the libs.
As for the app functionality, it's honestly just default AudioFX with some DSP options, some modified equalizer presets, and a dumbed down material UI. However it does fit all my needs and looks nice. Though I would like to try what the actual libs bring to the table.

Yup, though the AT&T variant, so no root.
+1 for at&t moto x 2014. I just extracted the zip above and installed the apk from the priv-app folder. Works great! The built in audio effects for the moto x didn't have a Bluetooth equalizer settings.

Just flashed the beats zip in ICS works great I didn't think there was gonna be a change but gave it a shot I was blown away by the sound quality

Trying it on DarkDroid right now.
ps: I'm having a error code when trying to flash it. It accuses some kind of argument error (expected 3, found 4), operation aborted. So I'm copying/pasting it inside /system
edit1: booting correctly with DarkDroid, but I didn't "feel" anything different. I'll try again once I get my PortaPros back
apparently theres been problems getting this to work from the thread i posted heres the flashable zip i downloaded and flashed
I flashed this over Mavrom, not sure i hear a difference or not through speaker on the phone but everything seems to work correctly.
Running MavROM 3.5 w/ safeboot; flashed this zip w/o error, but when I checked the system folder the files were not there. I placed them manually, rebooted, and the difference is definetly noticeable.
Edit: I flashed the zip from the original source, not the one attached in this thread
I just copied all onto /system , rebooted, got into safestrap and fixed permissions
M3 XT860
DarkDroid 1.1 (Unsafe) + Hash's ICS Beta 1 (Safe)
I really noticed the difference when I hooked it in to the speakers, car, and head phones our phone speaker isn't equipped to provide the quality this mod offers

Alright done, however I still feel like I did something wrong. Can't notice a difference. Is there anything visibly different? Like is there a setting that should be enabled or something?
Its only an equalizer really. Will only notice a real big diff with really good headphones
Sent from my XT862 using Tapatalk
I guess what I'm trying to ask is this: is the equalizer adjustable? Is there somewhere I can see it and change it?
I have Klipsch Image S4s so I don't think headphone quality is a problem.

The headphones don't have to be really good but u probably shouldn't be looking for a difference with really cheap ones I have some Panasonic ones that only cost 14 bucks and I can hear a big difference in those,/ the biggest difference though is the car or speakers.... there's no visual difference only audible the software equalizes the music for you to get the best sound from each song so there's no need for a manual equalizer
Also are u intslling it manually? Cuz the zip I posted is a flashable one

Ahhhh ok I see now. I flashed it, but like the others, I didn't see any of the files in /system or the subfolders. I took the advice of an above poster and just copied everything (except META-INF) into the respective folders then went into safestrap and fixed permissions.
I'm not a huge audiophile so it may be different, but my ears may not recognize it. Is it because I'm used to using DSP Manager within CM9? I usually have the "Rock" equalizer set and the Bass Booster on the mid setting.
I've never used the DSP IN ICS. So I couldn't tell you if it sounds different from that I just know that from the stock ics with no equalizing was a considerable step down from the beats audio mod

Has anyone here used PowerAmp before and compared this to tuning though PowerAmp's EQ?
Also, just from looking in the .zip, there SHOULDN'T be anything found in /system/app as there is no .apk included.
I copied the files manually and I think, there there is a noticable difference. On My Milestone 2 and Droid 3 the volume didn't raise more at the last 3 steps of the volume bar. Now, especially with a headset plugged in there is a much louder sound, so loud that it hurts.
Does anyone have 2 Droid 3's and can do a comparison? Maybe with a db-meter app?
I use it with winamp and the sound difference is much better, the bass is more clear and the treble is clear. Before it sounded like one was fighting with another not anymore. I'm using Gogroove bluetooth headphones to due to my headphone jack not working.
The updater script doesn't seem to mount system. For those having trouble flashing, mount /system manually(mounts and storage>mount /system)

Any 1 here have seen these enhancements working? Specially Bravia, xLoud and beats. Well I just felt it once in BPaul's rom where xLoud was screaming like hell but again not sure for Bravia. I have my own doubts that it will work in current form. I mean why just an apk or few system files replacing will give you ability to use Sony's petent technology in any android device? Same for HTC beats, looks again misleading. I think there are system wide files/libs to make them work and a bit hardware support too. Anyways I want to hear from you guys.

Well bpaul coded it into his ROMs and also added ALL necessary files and permissions. About bravia, I think it doesnt work on other phones. At least i never saw any difference. I think that has to do with hardware, which is able to use those features, like retina display on apple devices. Others cant, even if the software is working correctly

I meant exactly, so I request to our developers to not to work on non working features just to increase list of features. Looking for more discussion.
Is it possible to flash DSP Manager on my HTC One?
I'm currently running MaximusHD 21.0.0.
I've spent a day trying to find a good alternative.
But none of them have satisfied me.
Spent the last hours searching for a solution,
but didn't find a good one.
I can drop beats if that's what it takes.
Thanks!
Sure. You'd need to install the apk, but I'd be wary of using flashable zips intended for other devices. I have an old apk. However, it may have changed or been updated since the last time I grabbed it.

The thing is that the newer versions(from 1 or 2 years back) have dependencies(libraries and stuff).
The old one works as an apk. But all improvements from CM 9 & CM 10 are missing in that one.
That why I'm looking for a way to flash it. It seems to work for some people, but not for HTC One & Sense.

Sure DSP manager will work. I have a flashable zip, which I can upload the next time I'm on my pc. But do you want a better alternative? Try viper4android, and I promise you won't be disappointed. If you want it the easy way, download it from the play store instead of the thread.

I was looking at the Viper app, but it's more then I need. I really only need is a nice, simple non-bloat Equalizer.
My pair of Shure SE535 and HTC One sounds amazing together as they are.
But I want the ability to turn up the low end, high mids and turn down the high end
when listening to trance/chillout to get better ambiance and smoother sound.
Would really appreciate if you could upload it later!
Thanks!
Edit: Actually seeing the screenshots themselves instead of the bloated thread made me want to look it up anyway.
But when searching for viper4android I only get weird asian versions.

Not at all like these mods ususally are.
Skip the DSP. Thanks for making me take a second look!

Well yes, there is.
Viper4android,that's the one.
However it runs only fully (with all apps supported) on 4.2.x and 4.4.2 android on xperia devices.
Installing it normally will also work, but note with four example tunein.
If you wanna test this audio mod and want to know more about how to do this, you may contact me.

Well you can only imporve the quality by software, you can't change the hardware, and that's what those mods do
So yes, I'm now using only Viper4Android app (not from the google play) with all of the audio effects (that also include the dowloaded add-ons, which are the most important part of Viper), but on Xperia devices I've used a special audio mod, that enabled Viper4Android for all of the apps (and probably changed audio by itself).
I've written some special tutorial how to install it on Samsung (as S4 needed a bit different mod).
You can use any of the files in this thread, as it doesn't matter for Xperia's. My target is always to get Viper4Android working, as it's the best audio mod I've seen until now.
I don't know which version of Viper You've used, but You should check out 2.3.3.0, as it has soo many options (remember to switch to advanced UI).

Never used dreamingonmusic, I don't even know what that is, but you always might give it a try.
It shouldn't damage the ROM, but to be safe, better make a nandroid backup.
The sound output from the headphone jack and Bluetooth is horrible. It doesn't go loud enough nor is the bass and/or sound overall any good. Great phone. Crappy sound. If I root is it possible to somehow change the volume settings on some config file somewhere? I remember for my past android phones some manufacturers would deliberately leave sound levels low.
Any help is appreciated.
Check out viper4android. It's in the playstore. I'm running it now and its great for that.

I too would love to know if this makes a difference. I've been holding back on rooting until we get cyanogenmod assuming it might fix the issue, but if this works, I'll root now. Its my only issue with the phone.

You have to change SELinux to permissive mode. You may do it with SELinux Mode Changer app, but you must also disable stock audio driver and select ViperFX audio driver Enjoy!
How to disable stock audio driver?
You're DA real MVP @Fiqusny
got it to work. I must say Asus built a great phone with a **** audio chip. Thank God for viper
Is not the chip. It's one of Asus apps, called "AudioWizard" and that can be turned off very easy... Viper doesn't do any special "magic" IMO.

I do have AudioWizard off, its still feels like something is artificially softening all the noise coming out of the headphone jack when I play music. With AudioWizard on, I can get the volumes a bit higher, but usually with some kind of distortion. It makes it hard to determine if the physical chip is actually limited, or if the built in ASUS audio drivers are to blame. I'd rather wait for a custom Rom to unlock my bootloader, but I might just do it to try Viper if it truly fixes the issue without distortion.

So I did the viper thing. It made a difference. But not by much. This is the only reason I want to switch back to an HTC.
Well, probably the audio chip inside is not the best piece of hardware. For normal mp3's is probably "good enough". If you are listening to flac files, and you really want to hear them better than this you may want to look into this: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=android+dac
My personal fav is Audioquest DragonFly ver 1.2. Or you are a bass-head - HRT dSp.

That's disappointing. I find it crazy that this phone can have such bad audio hardware when all my old phones that are at least 4 years older are probably 75% louder. I mean, I know this is a "budget" kind of phone, but how much money can skimping on the audio chip possibly save them?
Sent from my ASUS_Z00TD using Tapatalk
@SoNic67 not a big fan of carrying around extra gadgets for sound. But no I haven't been listening to flac. I should try that out and see if that makes a difference. Good idea. @CKtheProblem is right. Even my old ass blackberry has better sound. That's all that's missing. It seems like HTC is the only way to go for proper sound. Kmn.
