No i have used nicholaschum dark theme template.. kept DIY theme creator as reference.. But huge part is from nicholaschum dark theme template only. Actually last time i created theme using Diy theme creator but u told u wont paste theme in ur CM12 Theme collection forum.. So this time i used his template.. Hoping this time my theme is eligible for CM12 theme collection

See this is what I like about people who follow templates instead of getting an easy way out for theming, too many people using Theme DIY and calling themselves themers. Great job man!

As improvement I would add :
- Status bar in the settings menu is still in the original color while other elements of the menu were changed to yellow. Why is that ? Can't we get all the elements colored the same way ?
- The installed app menu is still in white Why not turn it to black too ?

About the first question :
For the status, we're not talking about the same thing. Check the screen shot 1 : I'm talking about the menu item "Status bar" (Bare d'état in the screen shot), not the status bar itself which is in red. But this element is still in that original green color instead of being yellow like other elements in the settings menu. Why is that ? Would it be possible to have it in yellow like the rest ?
About the second question :
I added a screenshot of my app drawer. It's background is white. I wanted to know if we can get it in black to stay as close as possible of the original idea of your theme.

Seems like your device display the menu like if you were on a tablet. Is that a phone, a phablet or a tablet you have ?
It's a tablet, nexus 7 2013. This theme is only for phones?

first screen shot, in the part that displays the carrier name. while the color for that particular button can be modded to be white, if you have the button images that dark of a color, then they will not be visible throughout the rest of the system where black text is used.
Agreed, the white text on button might not be doable, but rest of it seems easy to pull off. I actually have something with the black/cyan color combo in the works, its not what you're looking for but you get the idea.

I do like that launcher bar you have in your mockups though. Sorta wanting to see how it'd look in my theme with some things replaced and changed around now.
But as far as your theme, I'm sure it's highly doable, just need to get a working metamorph and start editing the included image to your liking really.

Regarding the first response, I think he meant since we have limitations on what text we can change colors of, the black button is possible but the text on top of that will stay black..its not something we can change easily.
As far as metamorph questions, I highly prefer metamorph theme template now a days because it does away with signing and flashing an entire update.zip everytime you change some minor images. The theme in the screenshot is being built using only metamoprh format. Plus theres no need to constantly reboot (unless of course you change something in frameworks) everytime you apply changes. And yes with metamorph you can change top bar into any colors. But the top bar is just an image, you change that and you'll be able to change it anything you like. Just keep in mind all the little icons that go along with it have to change. They're all located in frameworks-res folder.
I suggest if you do go through metamorph method, that you find the black-bar mods theme in metamorph format, it gives you a nice base to start with and it has the white text edits already done for you. This way you don't have to worry about hex editing and such and just focus on changing the images.

last i checked, it is doable. if you change the button to black (status_bar_clear_background or something like that), you can use colorchange to make the clear button text white (clear=FFFFFFFF).
also, as i mentioned in the .Remix theme concept thread. get people to help you in PMs. i'm glad to see that you are willing to take the time to learn themes unlike the other thread. there are many people on here who know how to theme and i'm sure are willing to help you. your theme looks nice and seems very doable to me. good luck to you; hopefully this thread does not become another experion thread.
@Prash i just replaced a few tray/drawer images from Android-2.0-Stock metamorph theme and it worked! im relly excited to see how this turns out. As for changing the font colors i will hold out on that for the moment, i will work around the system font color to make the theme.

if you need any help as to where things are and how to edit/place certain files, i have some time today and tomorrow. PM me. so far you're doing this the right way with actual edits to the theme. good job. also, edit the battery color to match your teal. it would flow better. since you're going for a sleek look, try adding some gloss to your status bar since the one in your mock up seems too solid (kinda like an in and out gradient black-grey-black...not feeling it IMO). however, it may look nice, i guess the notif icons are messing it up since they have a diff background than the status bar.
I like where this is going..........only one suggestion, make the lockpattern cyan too,,if possible...otherwise awesome job!!!!
Also if you and Prash combine your theme with his icons boy would that be sick...just a suggestion

yeah he did an amazing job on those. however, since this seems like a sleek look, it'd be nice if he could make new icons to match the sleekness. black and teal icons (if you saw a while ago, randumaccess had found a an icon set from deviant art that was white and teal. if you could find those and invert them and colorize them to black and teal, that would look very nice/modern.

Many of you have been asking me if I can get the red theme of Runnymede ROM from Capy
so yeah, until now, I have finished the outline about 60% of whole thing just as I did for blue theme I have.
I am still noob in this community, several mentors help me a lot, so I would like to truly appreciate them

Finally finished my theme. Huge shoutout to MrBeo9x for his amazing MIUI theme (Golden MIUI v2) that i used as my base. i also modified the original images from my MIUI rom to suit the theme. I put dozens of hours into making this theme for everyone. Learned a lot about theming and how to create nine patch images. Thanks MelissaPugs & Qiche for testing out the theme, and pointing out all the missing images and everything.

ill try, im at my last 3 weeks of the school semester, so ill be in and out of the community for that time, so after the finals ill be releasing one for MIUI v4 and then make different colors, depending if a bunch of people really want it.

This is by far the best theme out there. I'm running it on my Nexus S on miui gingerbread and if I was running MIUI v4 on my Gnex, then I would use this theme without thinking twice

Therrrr it is! Awesome work buddy!!! I know you didnt like the black lines in the miui.us build, so were you able to get rid of those or did you use swiper's miuiandroid build???
I havent really been following either of the (2) Evo MIUIv4 builds until someone gets this double signal issue fixed. It may be totally dumb not to use it for just that, but not matter what it is the first thing i look at every time i unlock the device. I've tried, i've tried a few times, but it just burns a hole right where it hurts.
But anyway, enough venting for me, this is your show. So awesome theme, both GB and v4, keep up the great work!!!

Thanks bro!, and im actually using MIUI,us build, ive tried changing the xml values which contain the black line, but it was a no go. but you cant beat Full HWA acceleration And for the 2 signal bars, they grow on you after awhile, its nice knowing if i have 3g at work or when im out, but still wish there was a fix so the presentations would look nicer
Maybe I'm missing something, but applying this theme through the themes menu is not working for me. I placed the file into MIUI/themes and imported from SD card thru the themes menu but it does not show up in my selections. Any ideas?

I recommend to set the font size to small.
How to install?
Install like any other inofficial apk.
If you have the current version, you should be able to install this over without to deinstall and to make a backup.
However, I recommend doing a backup (Settings->Chat->Backup Chat History) and a fresh install then later on (Don't forget to restore the backup when asked).

Current Smooth WhatsApp Version : 2.8.9108 - No theme update till end of the month, or critical updates. Sorry, I'm kinda busy.
Bugs:
(Especially the blue version) Single lined messages cause a line throughout the middle of the speech bubble. Only fix is to set the size to medium or large, but then it doesn't look quite good. I can't find a fix for that, but I'll keep trying.
Do you like my theme but not the colors? I take requests for other colors like for the speech bubbles or the send button. Feel free to post here or PM me!

The send button is actually from one of my earlier attempts and not really made for this, but I think it's not that bad for this theme. However, when I have a better, more minimalistic, idea, I'll change it. Or do you have any specific ideas?

I'm sorry but I don't have any ideas how to make a jellybean-like theme. You should check out WhatsApp Plus, an awesome Mod where you can modify WhatsApp and make your own theme. Try to make it with that. Or you can check out the themes from Yorzua (his dark mods) and Seimu. Seimu has no jellybean theme but many others, maybe he'll take your request and try to make a jellybean Theme. But he's not posting the themes here anymore, so check the thread or google.

I mean in terms of the actual backgrouud. So that when in the app - i can still see my main wallpaper.
Why not just go all holo, you have the status bar and most of the elements correct. Grab the resources from any ICS rom and start there, use available screenshots to give it the clean holo look. JB is based around holo just like ICS, so you can kill 2 birds with one stone. So far, this looks great, but the green doesnt quite fit with the default holo look and feel. Tip: you can refer to built in android resources to go give it a native look and feel, have a look at the theming tutorials on the android dev help website and you will see what i mean

I doubt that I can make that. There are some people on XDA who make transparent mods, widgets etc. Try to ask them and give them my apk. But I don't know how to make that. I'll try to look into that in the next few days.

The problem is that I don't know how a holo theme would look like. Send Button from the official messaging app? Light Blue gradient? What about the speech bubbles? If you give me more specific information about how it'd look like, I'll work on it.

There is still different bubbles when the conversation is grouped compared to individual messages. Can you make everything to the squarish bubble instead of the stock bubble?

I know, but I think I will only update when there's an Update in the Play Store (or a prompt at the start of WhatsApp to update the version). Updating a Theme for WhatsApp is quite annoying and with my small popularity of this theme (20 Downloads) it's not really worth it.

How do you mean that? Can you explain that a bit more precisely? (Seimu has a Google+ Theme if you want something like that.)
I've created this thread so people can hopefully share their setup for substratum whether just themes or other things you can do in substratum like changing your navigation bar etc.
I personally prefer dark themes like the majority of people seem to do and I am only using a swift dark substratum theme and I am looking for other themes and to hopefully use combinations of different themes.
Please share your setup and possibly screenshots if it looks good. I won't bother because mine is basically just black and boring. The point of this thread is to mainly help people find new themes and what combinations you might like to try. Please post below and hopefully people can find a good theme that satisfies their needs.
I personally am looking for a dark theme that stands out and is bold with good contrast in colours. I'm happy to pay for themes if need be.
Edit: My current favourite theme is flux and will probably be deep darkness when it comes out in the future.
Edit: I'm now using compound as my main theme and flux and Lone4subs and swift dark to fill in any apps that compound doesn't cover. Still waiting for deep darkness:crying:

Well, I've always been a fan of the #LongLiveWhiteUI and avoided dark themes due to the black on black text. That drives me crazy. [emoji14]
It's probably due to using MIUI in the past, which is just beautiful, but I'll have to give a dark theme a chance. I buy them to support the devs, but never actually applied one, lol. [emoji14]

Wow that actually looks awesome I've got to try that. Thanks. Also btw substratum seems to be fixed in Chad's uber and the power off option actually powers the phone off. Just wanted to update you if you ever think about switching or trying it out again. Great theme

The theme I've been using currently on 6p running Pure Nexus is Crystal Tronik Dark by Direktive4. You can find his theme on Google plus. Here is the link to the thread:

I feel that dark themes look nicer and are better on the eyes especially at night time. I haven't had a problem with black on black but it could depend on the theme you downloaded. I had black on black until I installed the overlay for android system.
It's there any way to make substratum work on original firmware with Root ? I'm on 7.1.1 5 Jan 2017 version ... Cause Everytime I tried i ended in bootloop.

I think some themes work bit not the majority of them because it doesn't have full oms support. Just get a custom rom, why not

I just like it stock without any features and OTA updates .
I think I'll just wait till it's gonna be a way or something .

Good to know some issues have been fixed in Chad's Uber. Might try it again or at least try latest Faster kernel with DU to compare battery life and performance.

Substratum themes have included an anti piracy checker... So if you have apps such as "lucky patcher" installed, uninstall it first

Okay thanks, that sucks. The annoying thing is I don't even use lucky patcher for piracy or anything.
