no. there's no LED. it's just a driver. occasionally you'll find little oddities like this with installed drivers, then you'll drive yourself crazy trying to figure out where the hardware it controls is. one good example is often found in laptops. if you look in the device manager, you'll often find IR Port drivers installed and working, even though there is no IR port present on the computer.
for example, the attached image is what my laptop shows. actually my 3 toshiba laptops and my compaq all show the same. none of them actually have IR recievers.

Moto x 2014 does have a hidden led light underneath the top receiver. So does the nexus 6. You need root to enable it. Some users say that the led turns on when you are charging the phone when its completely dead

Yeah, it does, my Moto X 2014 lit it up once when the battery was dead, but i've read some threads that, we can use the LED with Tasker, and the LED was only green in the tutorials, BUT the drivers have support to RGB only remains to know if the LED is RGB
I don't have root, neither the knowledge to test

Hey, I've got a 'ghetto' little in car computer system set up and it's a pain having to tap-tap on a 7 inch onscreen keyboard obviously not made for fingers. A full size keyboard just isn't practical in a car environment, however the Kaiser already has a very nice petite one built in.
If anyone can make me a program to send keystrokes FROM the phone TO the computer via USB or bluetooth (usb preferred) I'll paypal them $5, or whatever they see it worth. Thanks a lot!
Good Luck finding someone to do THAT much in depth programing for $5.
But Hey You could get a Sub Sammich!

It's not that much work... (although I'm not taking on any more projects at the moment).
You just need a RAPI Client/Server App coding that can pass the key strokes back and forth.

I'm confused if by car computer system you mean a legitimate computer in your car. If so, GRemote should do the trick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427097
you could also use mymobile. It mirrors the keystrokes to the computer or vice versa. not sure if this is what you need but thought I would throw it out there.
ill do it
and retire to oz on the payout..... all £3.28 @ todays exchange rate
It could be helpful. I plan to install a computer in my Nissan Xterra, ITX board and 7" touchscreen LCD. I have the ITX board and everything is ready to install but it's too much money to buy the touchscreen LCD. So instead I deside to break a laptop a part (Dell LH400 NON touchscreen 12") I plan to have the screen in the front somewhere and the board will be in the back and control the laptop with my tilt (w/USB cable or BT). It will be nice to have this kind of software on my tilt.
mayby it should have shortcut to to find application on the computer, like video, pix, gps software, players and more
Gremote
as haywiremonkey said Gremote works very well for that i use it all most every day, i use it over wifi but it says it works over bt also just never tried it. i found gremote in the touch pro software section of the forum.

As an ex P3300 owner I went through the same panic. Where's all the notifications for service, wifi, bluetooth etc gone? I'm afraid they're history, sadly. The right hand thingy which looks like an LED is in fact an ambient light level sensor now. Progress, my friend, progress

...more than progress,I would call it regress..I know that there's only one led on the center-left, but they could have made it multi-function,that's really toooo bad! I fear connections left open with bloody battery drain (& money, for non wifi users).Well, at least it's not my model's fault. Thank you
The one I really miss is just the standard "in service" flashing green LED. It was so useful to tell a) whether you're getting a signal and b) making sure the phone hasn't "crashed" as sometimes happened with the p3300. Still, the TD2 hasn't randomly switched off yet... If someone knows of a simple app for this, pleeeeaase let me know!
to make sure no apps are on, look at the top-right side of the screen. There is a "button" which when tapped, shows all programs working. just tap the X button and they're all gone. The green led "beeps" when you have missed a call or received a message. Any more questions?
Yes, it's the Task manager, I hope that XButton is included in cooked roms so that apps really close when you exit...So returning to LEDs..normal functions are: Orange=Charging, blinking Green= missed call or SMS or MMS. Is that all?
@Pete_S:
I completely agree with you: If anyone knows a solution,a trick or a app to solve this please help.
bye all
so, when battery is low, (meaning that an exclamation mark appears at the battery), the LED starts to blink (first orange, then red, depending on how much battery you have). When you charge, it goes form red to green (from empty battery to full charge).
Yes, the X button closes all programs (attention: when you have more than 1 application running, when you tap the top right side, a menu appears and on the top of that menu, on the left, there is a big X - that closes all programs).
ok, all very clear, thank you! There's nothing to do but get used to it...Anyway it's not a valid reason to return this jewel to the shop !
cheers
In order to run demos and project (for large audiences) what appears on the screen of my Nexus S, I'm looking for the best app (not necessarily free) able to do that via USB or WiFi.
Have you addressed the same need in the past?
Any suggestion?
Thanks
P.S. Being able to do that without installing any special software on the pc would be a plus
As far as I know, our phones don't have mhl support, so I don't think that you can do this. However there is an app Team viewer, where you can get your pc desktop on your phone. If that doesn't work maybe you can do a gallery of screenshots from the phone to the pc to show what you want? I don't know, hopefully that helps.
its low res but check out webkey in the market. it has a web based screen viewing function as part of its security features, pretty handy.
Hey,
There is an app called "MirrorOP" in the Googleplay market. Install it and then install "MirrorOP Reciever" for PC. Then you will be able to get your phone screen to PC. In the settings you can change the resolution and quality, so you can incerase fps to 25 fps (on the lowest settings).
PS: your nexus must be rooted
greets

Nevermind. Read the OP wrong.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitmaptest&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5iaXRtYXB0ZXN0Il0.hey, try this. Crystal screen in play store.
If you just want static real-time screenshots, e.g., no animation, try AirDroid (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid). Your phone must have root and grant AirDroid root access to capture screenshots.
This is overkill but if you have the options, it works great.
If you have a Samsung SmartTV connecting to the same network your phone is on, download the app called SwipeIt on both the TV and the phone. You can then use SwipeIt to project your phone screen to the TV.
Thank you all for the kind help.
I really thought this was easier to do.
I tried most of the apps you recommended and they generally require an internet connection rather than a simpler one-to-one connection to the PC (in my case this could be an issue).
I'm now oriented to just record a session, download the video to the PC and play it to demo what I had to demo.

I have recently gotten a Z3 Compact. It had no screen and i have now fitted a new screen. Everything works. It turns on. The screen turns on. It just only displays the full screen in a small section at the top and like 90% of the screen is a static/white noise display. It seems like it isnt displaying at its full resolution.

Does anyone have any idea what to do.
Things i have tried are:
Doing an update through pc companion
Updating via pc companion.
Re-connecting the screen.
The screen does however work. The full screen works as a touch screen and i have to tap on the center of the screen to select shutdown options even though the display is only on the top strip like in the picture above.
any help would be much appreciated,
thanks,
wivane

Either you have faulty new display or incompatible (Sony used few display manufactures for various models-reflashing kernel should work), or you damaged port (pins) while replacing...
My guess...

yeah, my thoughts too. as i can remember, in the system files u can check what display is installed. (software) maybe it isn't a "original" matching display.

Stock kernel should check LCD version when flashed and rewrite proper drivers... if that is the case...
As the title says my Note does not turn the Led on for notifications, I already check the setting is turned on, I tested it with *#0*# it works there, but not for any notification, any ideas?
I would toggle the switch and reset, otherwise no clue, it works fine on mine. Is it working for charging, fully charged? Wasn't there another setting for colors? I'm confused myself, so many settings.

I tried all that, even did a factory reset but is not working for me. :crying:
The only other thing I can think of is power savings... hopefully. Does it turn on when you charge the phone?

I would try a 3rd party app that lets you customize the led lights see if that works. And if it doesn't work I'd get a new one. That's no fun. I'm sorry.

Thanks for all your suggestions what finally worked for me in addition to having the led notification on I had to turn Notification reminder on as well otherwise it just doesn't work, not sure if that's the case for you guys but well at least I have it working now.
I was just going to suggest double checking notification reminder, I think its set per application, besides global, but I'm surprised factory reset didn't work, unless you switch it off manually in both cases.
