Is anyone else experiencing slow download speeds? My WiFi downloads at about 23mb\sec. But when I try to download a game or anything it takes forever.

It's all over the Oculus forums. It is slow no matter how good your connection speed is, how much bandwidth you have, or how little you are doing at the same time. It is probably their servers.
Since more vr headsets are sold worldwide, traffic to store raised proportionally.

I don't really know what I did, but whenever i try to go to the playstore i get a 'no connection error'. Clicking the retry button doesn't help. I've tried editing the host file (which worked on my galaxy s3) but i can't seem to find the host file in my root folder. In fact, my whole root folder is empty.
My playstore isn't the only thing that was affected. On my youtube application, i am able to browse videos, but whenever I try to play a video, i get the 'there was a problem with the network[401]' error. On many games like six guns, dungeon hunter 4, where there will be game files download frequently, doesn't work as well. I just get a network error whenever i launch the game. I have problems with websites such as adfly and other adhosting websites. I can't connect to those web too.
Im on a LG-D958 rooted.

You don't use task managers in Android.
Just my point of view:

You don't need a task manager. The phone has enough ram and if you really must need a app to hibernate, look into using the greenify app.

I've just noticed particularly the Facebook app has really drained my battery if I let it run in the background

I can confirm these results. I uninstalled the app and just use mobile site. Try Greenify, it will work for this issue too.

Says the guy wanting to use task managers. Seriously, if the app is the issue why would you hunt for a work around? Get rid of the problem don't hide it.

I believe there is more to this than some of you are recognizing. I have a question. Go look in your battery menu and look at the apps using the most battery. Does it show each app keeping the mobile radio active? If so because i'm reading on reddit along with my personal experience. Google Play Store, Google Play Services, Facebook, Chrome, Play Music are doing that. No one seems to know why yet either. Tell me what you find out.

That's never been identified until lollipop, there's no way to know it's any different now than it ever has been.

Well its pretty obvious for me. Ive never seen these apps really sot at the top other than google play services for a gps wakelock. But these apps are inconsistently at the top but when they are, they keep the mobile radio active for hours when screen on time might be a 1/4 of that.
Well then. Try app called Battery Doctor. It will let you see what's draining your battery and let you selectively close the ones you want to.
Hey, I have a tmobile note 4 and am waiting to my gear vr in the mail. Read that I can download software before hand but can't seem to find it. Any direction would be great.

A lot of it is already "pre-downloaded" on the card you will receive inside the gearvr package. If you have a larger card you use you can just copy it via your pc or cloud intermediary.
Cool. Do you know if I can set up an oculus account. Or do I have to wait as well.

Yep, just visit their website and register. This will also give you a forum acc.
thanks. I ended up finding a good portion of the software down in the gear vr Canadian thread and it worked great.

If your really excited and just can't wait you could initiate the gear vr setup process which will have you login and get you the oculus store app. From which you could start downloading apps, games etc so your ready when it arrives. To do this from let's say TouchWiz you can download the app quickshortcutmaker and find the gear vr setup or stub, sorry it's been awhile, then just execute the shortcut and the process will begin.

So before I update to Lollipop. I wanted to find out if anyone has a fix. All of sudden Svoice wake hands free isnt working properly. I say hi samsung, it wakes but wont listen unless I depress the mic button. Defeating the hands free benefit. It has just started occuring and has opened and listened and completed the command as it should since I've had the unit. I wonder if anyone has a fix or advice. Thanks. I searched and only found hits where Svoicw wouldn't wake.
