Creating a custom Windows Phone 8 Image Question - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
Its been an age since i have visited the forums mainly down to my own mental career,
But i am now "back in the loop" with android devices and also i am now starting to embrace Windows Phone
So i have a question,
This is what i am wanting to do, and i am wondering if its something thats possible, and if so are there any sure fire guides on how to do so
I am basically wanting to create a custom image for Lumia 930's, i want to be able to create an imagine with some applications already embedded into the image, for example Microsoft Lync 2010, and some Nokia applications
any help would be gratefully appreciated, i have done some ROM work on android but this is completely new and alien to me
Regards

Hello,
welcome to Windows Phone community!
Sorry, with WP devices you can't create custom images because all bootloader are locked.

Hmm,you can using microsofts tools that are included in system centre 2012, but not being an enterprise user its a pain, ok dokes cheers anyway

We may be able to in the future, but we're currently far from that

[Q] Windows Explorer and Pocket File Manager XAPs?

Do anyone still have the xaps of those apps?
• Windows Explorer version 1.0.0.5 (no matter encrypted/marketplace or no)
And if yes, can you share it? (Share to PM if you have decrypted/unlocked one because piracy is forbidden here)
For sure, I need that for @djamol method that was posted about a week ago but deleted because of apps he used and app he get success with were all paid. I think that sharing marketplace XAPs here is not forbidden.
UPD: Pocket File Manager found

I can`t. There is a guy who can do so and he uses JTAG related hardware to achieve that. I can just give him a xap and then hope he`ll do that and then he may create sideloadable xap using interop-unlocked phone possibilities or with your method.
It won`t help if you want to install some really important apps like Skype. It contains ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES in its manistest and can`t be sideloaded even if I have unlocked/decrypted xap (and I have different versions of it). Probably you can with interop-unlocked phone, but not on Nokia Lumia phones yet (unless you have riff box, jtag and/or other related hardware).

I've already all tools & xaps but Microsoft won't allow me to publish that all things before their patch development.
They are tracking my each activity
Lol

What kind of patch they doing and what kind of things you`re unlocked already? If there is any patch, looks like it can only be in the WP8.1 GDR1 ROMs because of some ROMs with Lumia Cyan/WP8.1 are already published. Microsoft was never forced any updates for Windows Phone to install by everyone. Lumia 810 users still can`t install even 8.1 Preview for Developers AFAIK.
Hope you made something really useful.
Obviously!!

[Q] HTC M8 to dual boot Android and Windows

Hi Everyone
Just read on several sites how the latest model for Verison will Dual boot into Windows 8.1 and Android.
Is there a way to add this to the existing / original Android M8
Where did you read that?
Theres no way they would release a verison with 2 operating systems especially when android has been widly available for the device. Theres currently no version of a bootloader that has the right environment for windows adding an android boot to there bootloader "to try and even get back to android" Unfortunetly android is open sourse and windows is not, they would have to release there sourcecode to the developing world if they wanted to dual boot with android and they wont. so its up to us to exctract it on our end to make android 's boot loader able to dual boot into windows and hopefully find a way to get back.

it's not the source code which Needs to be released...it's the bootloader which Needs to be extracted and opened to get it working on the android Version! and that's difficult unless someone like cotulla will work on it!
Agreed im just saying we wouldnt need to extract it if they just handed it to us to work with and i hope cotulla does!

From http://www.anandtech.com/show/8390/htc-announces-the-htc-one-m8-for-windows
For some users the most exciting prospect of the HTC One (M8) for Windows may come from the fact that it shares the same hardware as the One (M8). It's possible that the developer community will be able to load the firmware from the HTC One (M8) onto the device in a dual boot configuration with Windows Phone 8 so users can switch between the operating systems as they please.

This is one of those, "Well it might be possible to if developers can figure it out" quotes. As the others have posted, there will be no absolute easy way to do this and a lot of the pains will be on the bootloader side. If someone DOES happen to figure it out, I don't see it happening for a LONG time (This also counts as hope for someone to prove me wrong ). We can only be hopeful that HTC failed to lock down something they should have done.
The HD2 was like the holy grail and I don't see that same sort of configuration happening again.
Htc has in m8 wp8.1 version something like s-off for android devices...in one m8 wp8.1 forum there is a thread where a guy is writing about the whole thing why it won't be that easy to mod the OS etc
I'm a daily "hourly" reader of engadget and they have posted about the version with windows but Verison is not releasing a dual boot version it is up to us to make that happen! Read alittle more carfully before making assumptions. Its possible "maybe" but its allot of work as snickler said its saying whats possible not whats out. Also im with One-M8-Master on this one, check out the thread it should clear a few things up on the boot loader side. lets all hope someone gets lucky and does it!

In another thread, this has been released. here
I moved this thread back to One Q&A since the moderating team decided that's where it belongs, but I'm closing it since we now have a single discussion thread for porting Windows Phone 8 to the current m8s. Please continue the discussion there.

[Q] Nokia Lumia 930 Tools?

Hi guys,
I just converted to Windows phone platform as I previously used a LG G3 Andorid device. I used xda developers alot to Mod my device such as Root Access, Unlock Bootloader, Custom Recovery and install Roms and Kernels.
My question is - Is there the same sort of things for the Windows phone? This forum for Windows 8 isn't as straight forward due to different devices that are all in the one forum " Windows Phone 8 Development and Hacking "..
Could someone point me in the right direction where I may use some developer tools to unlock bootloader etc or install kernels to MOD my Lumia 930? Or is there such thing?
Hope I can get a response...
Thanks in Advanced!
Anything? These threas doesn't get acknowledged much as androids

It's not about the attention these forums get, it's more about all the guys are literally tired answering questions like these ( no pun intended ) .
So basically for now it's a "NO" for all your questions, you can't unlock ( i mean filesystem access ) your phone, and surely can't modify the bootloader, in this aspect WP is not like Android, it's focused on security ( enterprise in mind ).
For more on your question please refer to this thread > The first thread in "Windows Phone 8 Development and Hacking, literally "
Also, as per the rules, please don't bump your thread more than once per 24 hours. 12 hours may seem like a long time to wait for an answer but it's still annoying when people do that. The WP community is a lot smaller than the Android community. On the other hand, as VSparxx points out, you could have had your answer easily with a little research. Currently, hacks for WP8 devices without SD cards are extremely limited. Samsung and Huawei have sort-of-custom ROMs (only limited modifications possible); HTC and Nokia don't even have that.

pardon me noob, but I'm running CM on a Lumia device. If you don't have a clue about what you're speaking on why not STFU?

Vaneyen Intro

Hi, I'm Vaneyen, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I have lots of Andriod devices, and have meddled with rooting a little bit, but am not yet entirely comfortable with risking the brick. However, I am deeply interested in Hacking, which simply means "making My devices work the way I want them to." I have (with the help of Youtube bloggers) hacked Keurig coffee machines, so now it's time to get my Android devices working the way I want them to!
Hi Vaneyen and welcome to XDA! You came with experience to the right place for modding, flashing, development, etc.!
Cheers

Thank you, galaxys.
I have an Android TV box I'm looking to root, but I'm unclear of one thing. I've learned (thank you 3mel!) that the process will likely involve:
1) unlocking the bootloader (if needed),
2) flashing the correct TWRP recovery (for that series of boxes),
3) flashing magisk 21.4 in TWRP and
4) installing magisk apk.
Is there a tutorial on the site aimed at guiding someone through the process of determining the correct process for each of these steps? I've learned that my box in question has an Amlogic p212, but is that enough to go on?
Thanks for the welcome!
First post...
First post in the correct forum...
Seems like you posted good details in June in those forums.
You can bump your last post there and maybe someone will respond. Any of tutorial should be specific to your device if one exists....
I wonder if it is possible to install root rights on Apple hardware.

Good question, but I have no idea where to ask it. You may get good results if you google "how to root ios iphone" - I just did, and there are a few promising hits in there.
