[Q] Touch screen sensivity - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a little problem: my touch screen is quite faulty.
It has the Ghost Touches issue, that is when it seems some ghost finger is touching the screen to kidding you.. :crying:
Now, I see through Hardware detection/Test Touchscreen (*#*#6484#*#*) that ghost touches have a pressure of o.o4/0.06 while my touches are about 0.10/0.12
And the question is, is there anyone in this forum so kind to help me calibrating the touch screen to recognize ONLY thouces above 0.8 pressure (for example)?
I have MIUI ROM 5.12.5, the latest one (flashed with the hope to solve the problem...:crying, but I can change ROM (or, as I think, the KERNEL).
Thank you very much!

a little attempt..
Ok, there are no replies yet, so I'll write my little attempt.
Foreword
Xioami Mi3, in the Hardware detection menu (*#*#6484#*#*) has got the Calibration option for touch screen (link in the attachments)
The Xiaomi app launched dialing the code *#*#6484#*#* is /system/app/Cit.apk both in mine Mi2 and in Mi3
Tested attempt
I tried to simply overwrite the Cit.apk in Mi2 with the Cit.apk in the Mi3, just to see what would appened and... obviusly it does not work
The Mi3 Cit.apk is not run by Mi2 device with "Package parse error"
The questions
Is there a way (I think yes! HELP ME doing it xD) to recompile the Mi3 Cit.apk to be able to run on the Mi2?
Decompiling the Mi3 Cit.apk, we can try to understand the point of the firmware (or is it one file?) that the Mi3 Touch calibrating changes, can't we? It would be an interesting start point to calibrate the touch screen to recognize ONLY thouces above 0.8 pressure (for example), or not?
Please help me! I'm very inquiring to see the light at the end of the tunnel :victory:
P.S.: sorry for my bad english grammar! Don't hesitate to correct it!

[Q] Is it possible to fix this dual-touch bug? (video)

Hi,
There's this thing about the dual-touch module that really bothers me a lot lately. Since it is difficult to put the issue into words, I've uploaded a video for you people to see what the thing is.
See how the touch is recognized in the middle? It happens quite often since I write text messages very fast. Is this possible to fix? Or do the hardware limitations force me to live with it?
Sorry about the quality - the video was recorded using another Xperia device
Relevant info:
Digitizer: Cypress
ROM: FroyoPro v2.5
Kernel: Stock
Have you seen this video? It is too smooth for syncaprtics. It is definitely cypress.

Yes, by replacing your Synaptics (I'm almost sure it's Synaptics) tuochpanel by a Cypress one.

Sorry I haven't mentioned this before. The touchpanel is definitely a Cypress one. I will add this information to the first post.
Also to note: ROM is FroyoPro v2.5, kernel is stock (bootloader cannot be unlocked).
Is this even normal behavior for the Cypress digitizer? It almost seems as if you suggest it isn't. This bug/problem is one of the things that actually made me want to root the original device. But even though the phone is 2x better than it was before, this problem still persists, and can be annoying at times.
The solution would be most welcome.
This is quite annoying when I'm typing on the keyboard... when I type quickly it thinks very often that I pressed a button halfway between my 2 fingers...
edit: I have tested it with 3 multitouch tester apps and I can't reproduce the problem. Something else causes the keyboard to operate wrongly (happens with all keyboard applications).

Same thing happened on stock ROM (I applied the dual touch module before switching to FroyoPro), so I don't think the ROM is responsible. All the keyboards suffer the same issue, except 2.3 Gingerbread Keyboard which performs passable. I really wonder if this case is specific to my phone or do other people have the same issue. Because, if they do, I might as well drop this and blame it on the phone

But I like doing everything fast
Here's just an update on the issue.
Recently I had a chance to try another Xperia X8 with a Synaptics digitizer, and luckily the owner had a Gingerbread ROM installed on it. I can say with certainty that dual touch had indeed performed better in typing than on my unit, albeit the Multitouch Visualizer gave some really strange results when both fingers were on the screen. The owner also said that other effects like pinch-to-zoom and performance in games seem to work a lot better on Cypress.
I did some homework regarding the dual touch module made for Cypress devices. Among other things, the developer wrote about this issue which caught my eye:
"- on FroyoBread sliding position of touch from first finger to second if you release first and quicly press second finger in another position - could you check both v003 versions guys ?"
FroyoPro actually is a continuation of FroyoBread, and this sounds very much like the issue I'm having right now.
Can Cypress users (especially if you're also FroyoBread users) please confirm if this problem is common to all of us, so perhaps flashing another ROM, like Gingerbread, could actually solve it?

did i understood your statement right?.. that if you press a finger at one position and then press at another postition and quickly remove the first finger it acts like a sliding gesture...if so then yes it does... it does the same on all the roms i have tried yet...

Aye. But that was the statement of the module creator, AnDyX, not mine Just tried it on the launcher screen. It was funny that it actually forced me to the next screen without doing the slide gesture. This confirms the issue. The module perceives it as a single touch that slided from the first to the second finger. Not as two touches altogether. Typing with it is really a nuisance.

that action is so fast that it interprets it as a continuous slide....we cant do anything in that.. but it should not give problems in typing... just try to estimate the minimum gap that is required for proper typing so that you can type at the max possible speed.....

Yes, I do it with relative success. But then again, I'd rather go without it
Thanks for replying. The issue, it seems, cannot be fixed.

ghost touch possible solution?

hi everyone i post this to ask or confirm a situation, a lot of users know or have experiment the ghost touches and after a lot of research is not confirmed if is a issue of software or hardware, besides that i found a tip about the ghost touches if i conect a otg mouse during the fail and work a little with it the issue dont hapen and more, its solved after the next reboot when happens again.
have somebody trying that? or can confirm if it works for someone?
if this post its in wrong place please change it or copy to another location.
thanks
phone: xperia z1 C6906
rom: stock 5.1.1
kernel: stock no mods
screen/touch changed by chinese one
Apply tampered glass screen protector, it will reduce/eliminate ghost touche
I'm using tempered glass screen protector but the issue is still there. Well, it may reduce that a bit though.
There are many hassles. These Z1 family support pencil touch that causes unwanted touch.
And, the touchscreen panel and display is poor.
Try this
Try this, worked for me for a few days or weeks :
Apply pressure on the digitizer, specifically in the inferior part, just like a massage ( side by side) . . after a few seconds you can verify how it works . . The only point is, this solution is not permanent. This is a hardware problem .. the real solution is replacing the digitizer. Regards

Touch issues / Sensitivity issues after Nougat update

Okay so I wanted feedback regarding this whether someone else is experiencing this or not.
I have gradually observed during the last few days that a lot of my touches to click have gone unresponsive in Nougat. Initially it was something that I hadnt quite noticed but slowly the trend became obvious. Now dont get me wrong, this would happen a few times here and there with lollipop and MM as well, but the rate is far higher now on Nougat. Especially when typing on the keyboard this means mis-spelled words, missed letters, and accuracy is far worse now.
Has anyone else observed this or is it just me?
Just got my xcover 4 with nougat installed i have the same issue.
The sensitivity is low and i need to press a bit higher finger force to respond.
Even with sensitivity (glove mode) set to on things get worse.
I'm seeing the same thing. What is strange is that I'll see the button highlight/depress, but no action occurs. This is on multiple apps.
On what device/OS?
Sprint Note 5 on Nougat
Did you try gloves mode? Does it work?
the same for me on 920cd and the same iusse using S pen
I contacted samsung Greece about the existing problem.
I reported the problems me and you guys have and the tech support told me that your problems exist because you did not factory reset the devices before upgrading to nougat.
Anyone tried to contact samsung about the problem?
They dont know anything about it.
facing same issue screen lagging in note 5 sm-n920s also tried custom rom but still lagging in typing and scrolling on facebook
I have the same problem on my xcover 4 here!!
When I run the the touch screen test, touch screen responds well, but when I want to write a message or to scroll the home screen Its very annoying. It looks like software problem.
please help
Hi guys.
I have 2nd piece of Xcover 4 SM-G390F (first was change by seller for new one) and had the same problem. First 2-3 days all work perfect.. I have installed my applications, work perfect for two days, but after this... --After wake, display react only in centre area, 1 centimeter from display border no reaction or react on xxx touch. After few seconds (20-30) display react on full range, but with lags... So... I go for support to Samsung official at CZE.
Support tells me, that they don't know about this problem, that I'm 1st who has this problem... And some other bull... about unofficial sell and any other. So I post them IMEI and they let me know, if my distribution is official or not, and we'll see what next. They recomend me to go to service center, where somebody looks on my SM. So I see tomorrow.
ROM - official Android 7 Nougat from start using (not updated from other version)
Deleting apps - no effect
Safe mode - no effect
Factory reset - no effect
Apps to calibrate screen - no effect

Sensitivity issue

Hi there,
my Redmi Note 9 NFC version has a problem with its touch screen. For me, it is too sensitive, which means my finger hovers about 1 mm above the screen an the phone detects a touch, which is clearly wrong. That leads to wrong typing and all sorts of other annoying issues.
Does anybody of you know how to turn the screen less sensitive? The tips I read on the Internet are not applicable to the Note 9 or are simply useless.
Your input is highly appreciated!
Thanks!!!
-Dfahren
If you searched the internet and found no one facing that issue on the same device then it might be just your unit with this problem. Anyways your phone has a warranty and contacting Xiaomi's support is recommended.
Sorry, don't think I can help you - I haven't come across this problem. Just tried to reproduce it myself but can't. Are you using a screen protector? If not, you might find it helpful to use one - they tend to dull the sensitivity a little, though if you're getting touches detected without any contact being made I suspect a screen protector might not help
that's unfortunate that no one has the same problem, which means it could be a hardware problem, which means I need to return it or take it to a service center.
I'm using the original screen protector, didn't tear it off. I had hoped there was some internal feature within the CIT, for instance, that I can use to recalibrate the touch screen, but it merely checks the touchscreen.
Hmmm, need to think about it a bit more.
I also have this problem , . I have a Redmi Note 9 pro EU version . My finger gets registered about 1 mm above the screen . Although I don't seem to have a problem with typing, it is annoying as sometimes the screen registeres my finger without touching by the screen witch leads to all sort of problems , ( like wrong friend requests on Facebook )

I've changed screen and after sometimes phone goes crazy

Hi mates, I need you help and suggestons,
unfortunately my phone felt down and I needed to change screen, the service which installed it asked me to choose one of the available (chinese) screens I I select the most expensive one. In the beginning all was ok, but time by time (about 1,5months) the usage gests worst, when the screen start to be a bit dirty it start recognize touches anywhere (moslty in the up side of screen), itself does commands, it's not possible to do nothing. WHen this happens I need to keep press the power button for 10 seconds tille ht ephone reboots, after reboot all become regular.
My considerations:
1) it doesn't seams a defective screen or a bad assembly, because after reboot all is good, if there were such problems a simple reboot can't fix them.
2) it looks like an incompatibility between OS and the touchscreen firmware, and probably it's something Xiaomi does with intention to create problems for cloned spare parts. Maybe the OS is "instructing" the touch screen controller how much sensibility to use, how much it can be dirty, etc.etc? the protocol of the latest OS isn't at all compatible with the cloned device and it result on crash of functioning. A reboot solves the problem.
If that is right, will a ROM update to another OS (not IMOU, as I have now) can fix the problem? Or there is any app that can perform a touch screen reset? Or any other trick to solve my problem? Than you for answers
Hi mates I need help, with cold weather coming it got crazy as soon it feels cold. WHat can I do to solve problem?
Updating ROM to a non official can solve it? The display isn't broken! A reboot fixes always the problem..
It is not original screen from xiaomi vendors, just a oem part with lower quality (chinese sell it alot on aliexpress with many type amoled, oled and LCD panel too).
Ghost touch easy happen on oem screen no matter how expensive it is.
Thank you for your kind answer, this is a really big issue.. it's very annoying using the phone like that, I've noticed it suddelny starts when the phone is exposed to cold temperature: lowering the screen temperature quite suddenly means it goes crazy, when it's crazy the only way to fix the proble is reboot the phone, with reboot it calibrates again and works ok, till next event. MY question are:
1) Can I forse myself a calibration?
2) Does other ROMs, not MUI, manage and fix this problem? (using another touch driver may solve the problem, chances are MUI introduced updates and become more selective to work with only original displays, to disancurage the OEM parts, so using another ROM wuth an older driver may solve the problem)
3) If I buy and add a protective glass on display, does it behave better?
Your experience is essential for me, thank you for posting!

imo
1. you can not
2. Roml sorfware can not
3. Protective glass make lower touch experience.
- Not all oem part come with defect, some working fine, it is just random.
- To repair you need replace new one, or buy original screen for sure.
Thanks for answer, I do believe that the problem can be managed by drivers, "resettig" the touch chip wil correct the problem. Probably the defect is on the firmware of the touch panel, it gots errors from touch.. ok, but it doesn't understand it's just revealing mre and more ghost touches. These FW have the task to filter out the ghost,, maybe they don't do it well.
A second chance is the comuinication between this chip and the MUI OS, the connection goes broken by some mistakes, "unalligned" and MUI got any touch position from nothing.
I don't believe the screen is defective, because after reboot it works perfectly, thil the next strong environment conditions change..
What is Roml software?
