Hi,
I would like to fix this purple tint issue but I cannot find a proper shop where I can order a new camera, HTC doesn't have an official office in our country thus i have to fix it myself,
If anyone of you have ordered one from the webstores, could you please link me to the right seller? or if anyone have a broken htc that HAD a normal camera without purple tint issue, i would pay you to get it!
Thank you

sure it have, but none of these sellers gave a normal answer to me, they did not test it thus these cameras can still have that issue, i'm looking for anyone who have ordered one that worked

Why not try taking it to the HTC Service centre. I took mine there and they did a pretty decent job. Would anyway definitely not recommend opening the M7 on your own. The camera module is the last unit in the device, meaning you will have to dismantle everything to reach it. iFixit tried and failed miserably.

Hi all,
I stay in India and I am planning to order HTC One from United States as HTC One is not available in India Anymore. My only question is..
Has the issue with camera resolved on the latest build? I mean the purple tinge? If I am buying from HTC Website, it would be a new build right? So will it have camera problem or only initial builds had it?
If anyone can please suggest me on this, it would be helpful as I wont be getting warranty if I purchase from abroad.
It's fixed on the m8 apparently, but I'm not sure about the m7 but it depends on the one you get,, mine has it but it's hardly noticeable, I'm getting the m8 eventually so its not a bother to me.

Some will have the issue, some not. I was unlucky. I had the issue. The M8 wont have it, so ull be 100% safe. BTW why arent you buying the M8 ??
Also, the M7 is very much available in India. Which city are you from ??
And, if you're ordering from the HTC website, that will be the Developer Edition. And i have doubts whether they'll ship to India......

I am thinking to buy M7 as the price was reduced by almost $100 recently.
M7 is not available as single sim variant, only Dual Sim is available and its not developer friendly
As I mentioned in initial post, I will be getting it imported from United States (one of my friend will be getting it for me)
Not buying M8 coz i cant afford to spend another 10K
How can I check if the purple tint is present on phone or not? How to recreate the issue?

First, install all updates. TBH, the 4.3 update screwed my camera the most. The issue is also present on Kitkat. So, update to the latest version and see if the issue is present. Place the camera lens-down on any surface. If the image is exactly the colour of the surface, then you're safe. If there's a purple tinge, you have a problem. Otherwise, just wait for night-time and take a pic outside. U can easily identify. The only solution for this is to give it for repair to HTC. But, the US model is VERY different from the local model. So, HTC might not repair it even if you agree to pay for repair. Just FYI,

Thanks for the suggestion on testing the phone.. I will try on that..
BTW the ebay link that you provided.. is it safe to purchase from eBay? I hav not purchased anything online for that amount
Does custom firmware help? I mean to reduce the effect?
Also are there any settings or so if that effect can be reduced? Because spending a 30K for a phone which has this major problem is an issue

Please don't even attempt to change the screen yourself. Give the phone to HTC, they'll repair it. They'll charge, but its much better than trying to do it yourself

I can't send it back as it as no screen on it at all the person I bought it off as all ready attempted to open it and when I had a look the cables were broke. I only got it cheap so I thought I would have a try at fixing it my self. You can see where they have tried to force it open and when i got the screen off one of the cables was snapped

Hmmm, I think HTC will just charge extra because the phone has been opened. But I don't think they will deny repairing it. See if they are willing to do it

I have just done that but the best they could tell me was send it in and wait for a quote and either send it back unrepaired for £27 or to dispose the device free of charge. Just dont know if its worth it though as i remember a few years ago sending my sensation in and because the screen had a little crack in it they wanted £200 just to fix the screen
Thanks replaced the screen and working great so far
Hi guys, I'm about to buy a second hand HTC ONE but I heard that trhe camera has a defect, purple tint.
-How can I check if it does have the defect?
-Is it something that happens over time?
-Is there anything I should know before I make this purchase?
Thank you!
Basically everything can be found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465651
If it has the faulty sensor, it'll produce purple images (try covering the lens or use dark environment.

Thank you for replying, this is bad. I'm really reluctant to buy this second hand phone now. Does it happen over time or do some devices just come with it?
Depends on when it was made and probably market region. But in the thread I posted there are instructions how to check it.
I never checked mine, because it's easy to tell that I have a faulty one

Buy it from eBay. If it comes with a faulty camera you can easily get your money back.

Has anyone found a fix or the root cause of the purple image tint on the camera? I bought a new camera and it is worse then the original? Does the problem actually have to do with the camera or is something else?
Thanks

Before your camera quality went down hill did you do any upgrades ???
I didn't do any upgrades. I noticed that over time the pictures starting getting out of focus then the purple tint started.
Thanks

Try this fix with the original camera :

I will give that a try. Thanks

This has been covered many many times.
Software changes can help to mask the problem.
But the real problem is a faulty sensor, which is why HTC covers this under warranty and have openly admitted to the issue.
They have to replace the sensor for a better one, to truly fix the issue.
Heat is what makes it show up the most, but its truly a hardware flaw and the only "real" solution is to have it repaired.
Im surprised to see anyone still asking this...as its been covered all over this site and the web.
I figured that was the case from what I read. HTC will not fix my phone for free because I have taken the phone apart and unlocked the bootloader. Is there any place for me to buy the upgraded camera at? I got 2 cameras off ebay and they were both worse thank the one that was in my phone.

After searching Ebay and other sites it looks like the not so expensive cameras from china are to bad according to the reviews. Some cameras from Europe cost like 50 to 60 euros, that's to much. So has anyone found a good camera for a reasonable price?

Sorry, I didn't see this.
I don't know really, I have looked around here but I still don't understand what blod-bricked means. I don't know the difference between different bricks here. The phone it is possible to boot in to bootloader sometimes, I have manage to unlock it, it does charge sometimes, sometimes not. I have tried some things but it is only working for a short time mostly. Now it's more dead than before, I have given up on that.
