Guy over at google named Shawn emailed me saying that all the defects have been looked into and resolved and said i'm guarenteed when I order one it isnt defective! Good luck guys!
I ordered last night. I hope I'm covered as well. I'm sure Google wouldn't say their products had defects either though.
I hope he's right. While I'm skeptical and don't believe it, I guess they have to eventually straighten it out. Maybe they actually have. We'll see soon enough.

i'm skeptical also.
Still will be waiting until they're in a bricks and mortar shop just in case. Took the best part of 2 weeks to sort out a return. Should've been received back at Computer 2000 today so waiting for my refund. God only knows how long it'll take them.
Does this mean the next batch of Nexus 7 should be defect free?

I decided to return my third replacement as well, and wait until B&M stores get them in stock so at least I can do a quicker and less painful return if the same issues crop up. There's the tradeoff of having to deal with ASUS on future warranty issues, but that's a price I'm will to pay. Google has been fine with the replacements so far (not arguing, sending them quickly, etc.), but I'm just tired of ordering a replacement, waiting for it, finding it defective, then boxing it back up and visiting the UPS store again.
I'm hopeful that Google is holding ASUS's feet to the fire and forcing them to fix these issues maybe a little more quickly than ASUS would do on their own. So, I'm looking forward to a new round of inventory hitting B&M stores soon. Since nobody seems to have any inventory, it would appear that whenever they're replenished it will be from the latest product leaving the factories.

Not to doubt, or take a personal shot at you. But I am hesitant to take claims of the Nexus 7 issues being fixed from someone with only 12 posts, without any concrete details on who this Shawn person is, or a posting of the email conversation, seriously.
Who is this "Shawn"? What is this Shawn's position within the Google (or ASUS) business? Where is the email(s) that back up said claim of issues being addressed/fixed?

Sadly I talked to a Google rep on the phone over a week ago that said exactly the same thing and then I still get a Nexus 7 with screen lift, washed out colors, and that Tegra 3 PRISM video playback issue.
Fortunately I was able to fix my own screen lift (stayed fix for 2 days so far) and disabled the smartdimmer. So two of my three issues are self resolved.
But I think Google was being a bit too optimistic, as I don't think the latest batch really fixed much of anything.
Guess ill RMA one more time
No electronic manufacture dealing with this large a scale of production can guarentee their product to be defect free. This is just a case of the sale rep doing their job....
People have been claiming since the "defects" were first found that people answering the phones at Google claim that the "issues' were fixed, despite there being no possible way there could have been any hardware changes/fixes just days after the release.
I received mine today and there are no defects that I can spot, so maybe Shawn got it straight this time.
Just went to replace mine at the store yesterday but I still got the screen lift. Waiting for their next shipment because they're all out. Hopefully Google really fixed the problems for the upcoming batches going out
So my replacement nexus 4 was suppose to be delivered on Monday. Around noon monday, I check the tracking which said it had been delivered...except I was home all morning and no package was delivered. I waited a few hours, figuring it was some kind of mistake with the tracking.
Then, I called UPS and they confirmed that it had been delivered at the stated time. I immediately called google and explained the situation. They were very understanding and started the process of disabling the lost device and issuing me a new one.
However, later that evening, my neighbour rang the bell and had the package in his hand....he had just come back from work and found it sitting at his front door (arghhh UPS ). At this point I hadn't yet received the e-mail from google with the link to order another replacement, so I figured I would call them to let them know that I had found the device. The rep told me that she would send the request to the department that handles lost/stolen device, but it was most likely already too late. She said she would keep me posted on the situation by e-mail.
Today, I still haven't received the e-mail with the link to order the new replacement, and the device is working fine (I assume if they disable it, it would lock me out or something). So I e-mailed the aforementioned rep and explained this to her. She e-mailed back saying that they had already disabled the device and given me a full refund, and that I would have to reorder the device...wtf On top of that she made no mention of returning this device (But I did go ahead and mail back the original phone today).
The phone is still working fine and my credit card doesn't show any refund (though this may be due to the fact that they haven't yet processed the refund....just my guess). Oh and still no e-mail to order the replacement, but I'm assuming since they are apparently issuing a refund, they expect me to place a whole new order?
What do you guys think? Is this just a big miscommunication between the various departments at google? Did they indeed stop the disabling of the device (which would explain why the device is still working)? But then why would the rep tell me I need to reorder the device. Man, this is just a big mess......and the funny part is, this device has the same earpiece buzzing problem for which I did the RMA lol.

Mine is from the Nov 13th batch of orders no buzzing in my ear piece. My neighbor ordered on the 7th and received it on Monday and it has a buzzing earpiece so I don't think that it has anything to do with what batch it came from.

They said once they remote disable the device it will basically become a paperweight. I have no idea of exactly what they do. Can anyone shed some light on this? BTW phone still works.
Why would anyone hold up their phones to their ears when it is not on or even on a phone call??!
is this like the "if I shake my phone real hard, I can hear something rattling inside" complaint?
I can't believe you mailed the phone back before even receiving the e-mail with the link to get the next RMA unit. If I were you I would have kept the phone until it either stopped working or you placed the next RMA order and had the next replacement in hand.
Now who knows when you will get your hands on another N4. Looks like you are in a whole new limbo period.

I think what they do is void the ESN on the device rendering it unusable as a carrier cannot activate a bad ESN.

I can clearly hear the buzzing while on a call on both the original and the replacement phone, and it's really annoying. Obviously if I could not hear it in a call, it would be a non-issue.

I mailed back the original phone that I ordered on Nov 13, not the replacement. The rep said that I had to mail back the original right away to avoid being charged for it. Like I said, the replacement phone is working fine (except for the buzz lol) and so far as I can tell, they have not "disabled" the device in any way yet. Even if they do, I have a perfectly fine HTC one S sitting here that I have no problem using.
Sucks man, sorry. I would've tried to keep that thing as long as I could. As far as the buzzing, seems like all these devices have a shielding or grounding issue which is causing the noise in the ear piece. My first phone which I got from TMobile (I love 30 day return policy ) had a pretty bad electrical/modem sound that was actually very distracting while in a call. The new device which I just received yesterday from El Goog doesn't have this defect, but does have the sound of an active earpiece at all times. Hardly an issue. The previous device sounded really bad over VOIP and calls never sounded as good as with the new one. Best to be patient and satisfied rather than hasty and regretful
Good luck man!!

So I just got an e-mail from another rep saying that they were able to stop the deactivation of the device. lol. No wonder why the phone has been working all along. I think I'm just going to sell the phone since I don't want to go through this whole RMA process again, and it does seem like this buzzing happens on all nexus 4s. I'll probably order one again once these issues have been worked out. In the mean time, I think I can get by just fine with the HTC one s that I picked up brand new for $100 last week

Ok so in the past I've always gotten refurb's and was instructed to just send the phone back. Well as we all know the Note 3 comes with a few accessories that are not required to be sent back "battery, backdoor, stylus".. Well I have had one replacement already and it was a refurb that came in the white box and I sent my old one back while retaining my old hardware, no biggie.. Well this time around they sent me a brand new phone (i called and *****ed about 4.4.2 and it's issues) but I'm kind of at a stalemate with the return process.. Do I keep the new battery, backdoor, charger, usb cable, and stylus and just send my old phone by itself back..? That is what the instructions say to do but that would leave me with 2 of everything, and I don't want to get billed for keeping that stuff, but I'd also like to have a backup of everything lol.. I think the instructions think I was sent a refurb but I'm just inquiring to see what others have done in this situation.. Thanks..!!

There... I helped by editing your statement. See above.
Anywayz... on a serious note, sometimes that stuff gets misplaced or lost, since they are going to move your broken phone from bench to bench. Or they may just have a box sitting with no name on it... and soon as they get yours they put your name on the box and walla, a replacement.
I used to have a conscience about this kinda stuff but I learned as I got older they have millions of the accessories and would just send you one for the heck of it, if you called and asked nicely. True story... I have done this a lot.

I cracked my nexus 6 on the corner yesterday. I bumbled it while getting out of the car. I thought I saved it as I was able to handle it all the way down to about 2-3 inches from the ground but couldn't fight it off. It finally left my hand and dropped corner first onto the concrete. The tempered glass looks to be holding it together but it's a hideous sight so I plan on using my moto care to get it replaced. What's the process as I've never used it before.
Well so far this process has been a huge pain in the ass. I've been on the phone for about 1.5-2 hours. They can't find my IMEI number in the system.
first they asked me to email the receipt and they would call me back. I asked them why I couldn't just give them the order number of the phone, or the moto care contract number. They said they could do that. After that they still couldn't find my information so they had to escalate me. Once escalated they still couldn't find my information but they said to give them 24 hours.
I'll update more as the saga continues. So far NOT satisfied......

so far the update is that the IMEI is not in their system and they have to get it updated in their database properly. They said it could take them some time. Definitely does not sound promising. Thank god the phone is still functional. Perhaps you can be pro-active and get them to make sure your phone is in the system properly so when the time comes, replacing your device will be much easier.

Which is hilarious because they sold you the device and I'm pretty sure require the IMEI to purchase moto care. I had the same problem on 2 separate devices from them. Make sure they transfer your moto care to your replacement as well (they won't).

Thanks for the update. Would've been nice to hear better things. Maybe posting to their Twitter account will get more action, and more attention, once it's out there for more then just the community here to see.
I did check my Certificate of Coverage that was emailed after Moto Care purchase and my IMEI is listed as "Serial Number". A call to them to confirm might be a good idea.

Wouldn't want to even think about that. I waited very patiently for my white 64gb, I'd be rather disheartened if they messed up the replacement. Glad to hear it sounds like it's all good, for now... fingers crossed that the worse is over for you.

Thanks, my recommendation to everyone with moto care is to be proactive and make sure your phones are in the system properly so when the time comes everything is smooth.
My experience was totally painless with motocare.
I purchased my n6 off of Craigslist. When I got home, I dropped my phone on the tile floor and cracked the screen. I signed up for motocare, and within 12 hours I got an email conformation everything was set up.
I started a claim online, and a new phone was shipped overnight to me.
I packaged up my old phone and overnighted it back to Motorola.

Did you get a brand new phone with accessories? I just received my replacment phone and just the phone came in a bubble wrap package. no screen film on the front or the camera. There are minute (very very small) grooves on the bottom of the phone. You can't see them but you can feel them. These don't exist on my previous phone. For some reason I expected a brand new phone when using moto care

Hey guys,
Totally depressed over here. So I save and save and save and BOOM, Im the proud owner of a Nexus 6. I hit up Swappa because Ive had good dealings with solid dudes there in the past. I got my phone on Friday after work. It was described on Swappa as Mint, and on the exterior it was just that Mint I turned it on with SIM in and ready to fall in love. What I got was a device that everytime the screen times out, or you are done for a minute and hit the power button, if it sits idle for more than 5-10 min its basically dead to the world, google voice, manual hitting the power button, plugging in the charger, NOTHING....The only way, and I mean the ONLY way I can get it to turn back on is to hold the power button for like 20 or 30 seconds and then it turns on. I tried to contact the dude I got it from about it and he just said I am full of S**t and it worked perfect when he sent it to me. He said basically screw you. Took a LOT of hard a** work to save up to get this phone man and It looks like Im hit. Do any of you guys have any clues or a godsent solution to this hell? I need yalls help. Im totally at a loss for why this is happening.

Or, you could try flashing the stock firmware. But it will be tedious with the phone acting like that. I'd personally want my money back.
Swappa believe it or not told me, work it out with him. I qued them in on every message I sent him and they just replied well sorry you couldnt work it out. I am actually surprised that as buyer seller protected they shout about over there all they really do is make sure the esn isnt smashed. they dont help resolve issues like this at all. His ad clearly stated no returns unless not as advertised. he advertised mint, so any of you here know exactly what that means. He told me to take a video of the phone actually doing it, and in the next sentence said it was working perfect when he shipped it. Wheres his video to prove that? Even Swappa lets a guy go down in flames huh? This Item is not as described if it locks up. Its not "Functions Flawlessly" as they advertised. sorry this isnt the place for this. It took me a long time to come up with the money he just stole from me
That really sucks man, sorry to hear about your problem. try going into bootloader and like said flashing stock firmware, hopefully that'll fix it.
Mint means perfect. Flash stock, if the same problem exists, its faulty and not mint.
When I sold my first nexus 6, the initial install was all wacky. I assumed it was from using custom Roms and android m on the phone. Flashed a few more times and factory reset and it was good as new.
Same thing happen with note 4 and lg g3 before shipping.

As previously advised, open a PayPal case. "Device Significantly Not As Described". You will get your money back. PayPal nearly always sides with the buyer.
Doing a lot of research, I had heard of people who had glass screen savers that screwed up their proximity sensor. This phone does have one, but I am in a situation where I can't really take it off because let's say it doesn't fix the issue and I do get granted a refund, then I'm screwed because I have to return it the same way I got it.

I don't believe PayPal would deny your claim for removing the screen protector, in an effort to try to solve the problem. IMHO.
Sounds software related. Download and install factory sysimage, then factory wipe, and see how that goes.
Flash another rom or factory most likely should work
hi
Start it in bootloader then select QCOM test that. for me it has been the solution to all errors.

Well i had a proximity issue when i had my screen replaced but flashed back to android version 5.0.1 and the issue is totally gone. Try reverting back to 5.0.1
Thanks everyone for being so helpful. Yesterday I had been hoping and praying for the best. And the screen completely went dark with wierd lines and dots and finally just doesn't come on at all no matter what I do. It's gone. No bringing it back now. Totally bummed. PayPal said they will open a case and it's gonna be like 10 days before anything else happens cause this bum wouldn't refund my money. You guys are really awesome for jumpin out there to help me so much. I'm poor as heck so what sucks is it took me 2 months of saving every penny just to get scammed. Now all I have is my work phone and I'll probably get in trouble for using it for this. Lol life is crappy sometimes. Peace community
eMMC failure... That douche did scam you and he did it hard. Hope you get it sorted.
There is no way this slime ball didnt know what was up with that phone. Too bad too. I just hope I get my money back
Dang I'm sorry this happened to you man, that really sucks from reading this. I hope Paypal sorts everything out for you and you get your money back.

What is eMMC? I don't think I've heard of that. If I cant get my money back I wonder how much it would cost to repair. I'm probably screwed there too. I bet it's more to fix than to buy a different phone. Too bad honesty is like the tooth fairy these days, because I don't think I'll ever buy another used phone and I know there's good ones out there. By the time I save up enough to do that again Nexus 6 will be 100 bucks
