I currently have a Nexus 6 on AT&T network.
I am not rooted but I am getting random messages when I'm typing. Doesn't matter if it is a message or simply doing a google search.
Screenshots for example.

May be some apps are doing auto correct for you.
Its not an autocorrect, I can't click on it or do anything with it. And its random, not even typing words close to those spellings.
No other tips??? Or help?

figure out which app is doing it, then uninstall it.
That would be ideal if I knew which app but don't have a clue. It hasn't happened in the last few days...but it was weird to begin with.

Ever my 2.2 upgrade, pictures are showing as short videos. When I click on them they show as picture. Kind of a pain because there is always this big play arrow. What bugs me is I saw this somewhere but never saw an answer and now I can't find it back. Any answers to this one yet?

my phone has done this since i got it in august 2010
I posted this recently in the Firefly Q&A thread. I was sure too that this only showed up after upgrading - either a Firefly issue or a 2.2 issue. I didn't remember it happening when I was on stock 2.1. But others assured me that it's just the way Android does it - even on 2.1. Some even said regular dumbphones will show MMS pictures as little videos.

BAD ASS NOTE 4
Ever since I've had this phone I've been experiencing the error in the title above. I've rooted, tried freezing apps I think might be the problem, and just tonight I unlocked the bootloader, which wipes everything, and was hoping the error would go away. It only happens the first time upon boot. I hit either Wait or OK and it goes away until next boot.
Not a big deal, but curious what's causing it. Just wondering if anyone has this issue.
This is the 16gb Prime version, rooted, debloated, unlocked bootloader.
Cheers!

Never experienced that issue. That's odd it's occuring on two devices. Who is your carrier, could it possibly be a sim issue??

Which permissions would you be referring to? A fresh reboot after a factory reset does it.

I thought about that too, but I've tried two different carriers.. T-Mo, and Cricket. Both do it, regardless if one is in one slot or both are in either.
Like I said, it only does it after the first reboot, then I never see it again.

My LG G4 does this sometimes. Just click wait to avoid dropping a system process. It probably represents a random error during boot, but it never seemed to hurt anything enough to justify a full investigation.

My HTC 10 just gave me this system stopped responding error right after rebooting - Now I'm beginning to think it's just a new "feature" in Marshmallow. When I have some extra time, I'd like to see if I can figure out what does this - more for the sake of learning than anything else.
Follow this Reddit thread to get RCS set up and working. Working on my TMobile OP7P on international firmware fine. https://www.reddit.com/r/UniversalP...with/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
How did you get it working? I tried it multiple times with no luck. When I click "apply" nothing happens. I have the same setup as you, and I'm using the beta version of messages app.

Try Updating Message in Play Store. I did everything as well and nothing happened. I checked the Play Store to see if it would give me a new 'beta' version to update and there was! Updated and opened Messages and got the new toys.
RCS is live in the USA! Confirmed working on Global version of OnePlus 7 Pro GM1917, OxygenOS 10.0.1.GM21AA on the TMobile Network.
Don't think it works for verizon

It does not it only works with users that have RCS enabled.
I completely forgot about RCS, turns out all I need to do was turn it on.
Hope to fine out one day what exactly is the big deal.

The 7 Pro doesn't come with Carrier Services installed. Download it from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.ims
Edit: International 7 Pro on T-Mobile, testing with an S10+ on Sprint, RCS messages are in a darker shade of blue in both light and dark theme, the arrow to send a message doesn't show "MMS/SMS" under it, and the text in the message window displays "Chat message" instead of "Text message".
I have a group text with my parents and brother. They are getting my messages but I'm getting nothing from them. On Beta 2 and have reset the Android messages app. One of the users is an iPhone if that matters. On Verizon.
I have same problem with Google messages I can send messages but I cannot receive

So maybe it was a coincidence. This weekend was my first time flying. I wonder if it was an airplane mode issue. Didn't really notice it and wasn't on my phone much after flying in on Thursday. and Saturday night I was messing around on my phone and realized I hadn't heard from my family group message. So after clearing the cache and doing all those things. I toggled airplane mode on and off after doing a couple resets that didn't do anything and all of my messages came in at once. So don't know if it was a coincidence or if it was an issue with airplane mode sticking or something. It is solved now. At least so far

You should really try using something like WhatsApp or anything else but regular text messaging for group messages.

I have WhatsApp but like two or three people I know actually use it. My mom and dad brother, not all of them have it.
Not rooted or anything. toggling airplane mode helped for some reason. I still do get this invalid file or something along those lines error occasionally. I'm assuming it's picture messages based on the context around those messages that just come in as invalid file. On that given incident that this is referring to I was traveling and had a layover so the second time that I went into airplane mode it must have hung up for some reason.

You gotta get people converted. I have my family on it and it's so much better than SMS. My closest friends like using Instagram direct messages and others do Facebook messenger. Again, anything else but SMS is better. Honestly, I can't wait for Facebook to just make them cross message with each other.

True. Are all the recipients in the group message Android users or any iOS users? I know there can be issues with that too especially if people went from iOS to Android.

I make every person I know use Telegram. Then I tell them to make their family use it only.
It makes everyone switch
