Blinking red led - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just happened after nowhere. I got my hands on a z1 from a friend with a fully charged battery. Since I didnt have a simcard on the phone I turned it off. Now it wont turn on and the the red light in blinking when charging. Looks like a discharged battery but i dont know what to do. It's plugged on a 2A charger for about half an hour now but there's no sign of life. is there anything I can do?
PS: the bootloader is locked and I didnt messed with the system in anyway, it's was just factory reset

Use the official charger (that is 1.5A) and report back..
Else try to send it to service

Left it charging the whole night but still just the blinking red led. Since it's not on warranty anymore I don't think it's worth sending it to service. I'll penalty try to reconnect the battery to see if it helps

@Castro27 Try flashing the stock firmware via flashtool its very easy and it will bring life to your phone...

I have a strange problem. My Z1 was in the original dock charger over the night. The alarm woke me up in the morning and the battery was 100% full. An hour later it did not switch on. I have tried to put it to a original USB charger and a red light is flashing fast and continuously. I have tried to press power+vol down key and nothing happens. Is my battery dead? I don't mean fully discharged, but dead.

Tytn II possibly dead HELP!!!

It looks like my Tytn II might be bricked... I have searched and searched and can not find any info on this. The phone will not turn on. I know the battery is dead, but it should have the power to try to boot. In fact, I have not used it in a while and I just tryed to boot it, it got to the starting screen, then the windows loading screen, and then I walked away for a few minutes and came back it and it was a black screen. Tried to turn on again and it did not power up. Upon plugging it into the charger, I get a solid red light on the top. When I remove the battery from the phone as the charger is connected the LED immediately changes to solid orange, and the blue led next to it comes on as well. When I disconnect the charger all the LEDs go off (obviously because theres no battery) and when i put the battery back in the phone i get a dim red light.
is the phone bricked? im thinking it might have slight water damage but it has been like 2 weeks since then so it should have dryed up i assume. tried to reset a few times with the little reset button next to the charger port, nothing. is it possible the battery may just be done for? any help or suggestions would be great. thanks.
I had that isue but i just leaved the phone on charger and everything came back to normal It's still working very well. But, i cant remember how i get into that situation but i surely know that i saw red light on top .
thanks, now that its been on the charger for a while i now get an orange LED. i will let it charge for a while and see if it awakens after almost 3 weeks of utter deadness.
Try waking it while on charge itslef.

just tried and it got to the very first boot screen and then went black and the orange and blue LEDs stayed on. tried to reset, no luck. unplugged charger, still LEDs stayed on. so then I took the battery out, all LEDs went out, plugged it back in and now i get the same red LED again.
update: now i get a orange LED as its plugged into the charger, but when i try to turn it on it gives the first boot screen for like 3 or 4 seconds then turns off...
I am getting exactly the same problem?
I tried to install android - got it working, came on a few times - then just totally died - It showt he HTC boot logo, but then just turns off.
Does anyone have any ideas.
does your computer see it when plugged in via usb?
perhaps this will help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358136
oh and also you have tried to enter the bootloader mode right?
I've had this issue, millions of times. What I do when I have problems like this (and problems like when I turn it on, it says the battery is low when it isnt, and when you connect your charger/USB, it dies on you)
Try removing and putting the battery back on.
so in simple words
charge the battery first (dont bother trying to turn it on)
and then remove the charger (this plays a big role)
take out the battery, put it back in, hope it works.
The same thing just happened to me, I thought it was toast. I would get the red light when I plugged into the charger, and after a few minutes it would turn to orange. I tried to turn it on then, and it would start to boot up, then shut off a few seconds later. This happened a few times. I just left it plugged in overnight, and when I woke up it was on! Only problem I've noticed is the orange LED is always on, but I can live with that

Xperia won't start

Hey Guys,
Before going to sleep last night I connected my Xperia 1 with the original SE Charger. Today it doesn't do anything.
I already removed the battery for a few minutes and tried the battery of a friend's X1. But it still doesn't boot.
Any ideas?
Is there a red light by the power button when you try to charge it?
no there isn't even a red light
maybe try taking battery out, charging the phone itself for about 15 minutes. then after that, put the battery in again to try to power it up.
when you charge the phone without the battery, the red light on the power button should be turned on. if not, i'm guessing there might be a possible short circuit.
IF it is a short circuit in your phone, then you will have to send it back to sony ericsson to get it fixed.
same problem

Good morning friends. I too had the same problem. the phone wont start up in the morning.... However, after 3 hours, i tried connecting the phone to the charger and then pressed the power button,,, to my surprise the phone started up. But, the battery is completely drained and its at level 0. I wonder how does this happen. I have kept the phone for charging for whole night but the charge remains 0. I doubt the battery. can any one help?

No brother, i charged through sony ericsson original charger. However, i was doing the same since i bought it.... But it was a one time go and after that this issue didnt turned back. The small remedy for this is take out the battery and, press and hold the power button to drain the static charges present in the circuits of the phone(These static charges are formed due to regular use of phone without soft resetting it(once in every two days)) . Once the phone is free from static charges wait for some time and then put on the battery in the phone and then try to turn on the phone... Believe me, it worked... This is not a phone for me... its a mini laptop integrated to a phone.
There are several threads about this. Search for the "xperia broken red light under the power buttonb" thread, it is very good and has many solutions.

[Q] X8 Battery Charging Problem

Today morning, I turn on my phone and I saw the battery is 80%, I put it in my bag. After 1h, I take my phone out and I found that my phone was very very HOT, and the battery went down to 10%! (normally my phone just drop 1-2% in idle mode)
After that, I pull out the battery and put it in agn. (I guess the phone turned on automatically, but I dint noticed bout it) After few hour, I tried to turn on my phone, and the LED showing red colour and keep blinking..I couldnt turn on my phone.
Now, I cannot recharge it when the phone is off, the LED din't blinking anymore.
I have tried to recharge my phone with charger, but it failed..I have tried to connect it to the pc too ..but it failed as well..
Anyway to fix this problem? Thanks.
Sorry for my bad english..
try get new battery maybe
I had a very similiar problem. My phone had been discharging battery in 3 hours from 100% to 1%. Once, the battery discharged completely and I wasn't able to recharge it, so I decided to buy a second battery. In my case it didn't help - the other battery was discharging exactly like the original one.
As I had a 2-year warranty, I returned my phone to the shop and guess what?
They replaced a mainboard in my phone (for free of course). Now everything is ok.

You try connect your phone to charger and charge more. Sometimes if your battery is recharged may not be detected for 5-30 minutes

[Q] Xperia Z, Hard Brick after battery drained

Hello, just about to pull the trigger on a new xperia ZU, but i wanted to see if anyone had any tricks for me to try on my Xperia Z. I was running near the latest CM 10.2 without issues for awhile now. Last night while i was bowling the battery died( nothing new happens all the time to me ). When i returned home i hooked it up to the wall charger for about 30 minutes, came back and still no life. I have tried multiple chargers and multiple cables with no luck. Device has been plugged into power all night and all day so far. When i attempt to power on with it unplugged i get the 3 pulse red led. When i hit the power button with it plugged in all i get is a solid red LED. Nothing more, nothing less. Cant get into recovery or anything. Most of the time a hard brick involves a mis flash or something along those lines....any idea what could have happened to mine?

It might be the battery...
Its not advisable to full discharge the battery but it seems that u did it a few times..
The battery might not take any charge as the red indicator means low battery...
Tried a new battery,i know after removing the rear panel n say good bye to water resistance but is worth a try...
Or u can send it to me for free if u wanted to throw it away...
hope this helps...
Had the same thing happen
I had the same thing happen to me. From what I read trying to troubleshoot it seems like the Xperia phones in general can take 30 minutes + after a full battery drain to even register that a charger is connected. I would try just connecting it to the Sony charger for a few hours and see if that works.
There is also a tip about holding down the power button when plugging in the USB charger and continuing to hold the power button until the phone turns on. Unfortunately, can not find the original post right now. EDIT: Found it. http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-T-TX/Xperia-T-Wont-Charge-Turn-On/td-p/252686/page/4
In my case the red light would not even come on when the charger was connected but would come on if I held the power button down while connecting the charger. After I did this for a couple minutes the phone booted and has charged normally ever since.
So its a mixed bag. Try just charging it for a while on the Sony charger or wall charger (not USB). Or try the power button trick.
Lesson I learned is I will not let the battery completely drain again.
Ahhahha it came back alive! I had tried pretty much every trick that has been suggested and it just wouldn't charge or start to boot. Left it on the main charger again last night and still no luck this morning. Again I decided to plug it into my computer's usb port( I did this multiple times already ) and I hit the power button, a backlight came on!!! and then sure enough there was the free xperia logo! I have no idea why it finally decided to power on, but its showing 1% battery so it was truly not charging any of the times it was left on a charger, computer or mains. Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate it!
I know this thread is pretty old. But I'm having the same trouble. Xperia Z got bricked after battery drain. It wont recognize charging, i kept it on charge two nights in a row now. It did show a red LED while charging for some time and nothing else, but now its back to being stone dead. tried holding down the power button trick, didnt budge. I thought you can only hardbrick it by doing a wrong flash/update. dont know what happened in this case. is there anything else I should try or just take it to a shop and ask to change the battery?

man, try with a new battery, here in my country cost 14 euro . Or go in a service or buy a multimeter and measure the current of ur battery. Normal they from service will give u electrosock to bring it to life. And if will dont work i think u must sell it on piece and buy another
Same problem with my Z3 Compact: one day phone became hot and started to discharge rapidly and when battery became empty, cannot charge and cannot boot, only red LED is ON. I changed the battery and phone booted again. BUT when battery was discharged completely, phone cannot boot again, only red LED is on when trying to charge.
Looks like something wrong with motherboard is happening...
Xperia ZL battery completely drained, not starting up
I know this thread is old one, but I am having issue with my Xperia ZL. Its battery drained to zero and then whenever I plug in my charger, screen starts, Xperia Logo pops up, red light also starts and suddenly everything goes off. This goes on and on infinite number of times. Phone heats up but it doesn't turn on. I had issue with my battery, a couple of months back, so I replaced it with new one. If anybody has any solution about this, please let me know.
xperia z bootloop
im stuck on bootloop and apps keep on optimising through the cycle. phone overheats too .. how do i sort this one out? ..might it be a bad battery? any help on this

Xperia z sudden death

I REALLY need help
Sometimes when i plug the charger into my Xperia z, it instantly shuts off and boots on
A week ago, i plugged it in, it restarted and i went to lunch.
When i came back, i couldnt turn the Phone on, i literally tried EVERYTGING (every buttom combination possible), the LED didnt turn on and the Phone didnt respond to anything.
Just completely dead.
I charged it for 3 h and because the LED didnt even turn on while charging, i thought the battery might be broken.
So i removed the backcover, unplugged the battery and plugged in the charger.
There was finally a sign of hope when the LED turnt red, but as soon as i plugged the battery in again (with the charging cable still in) the LED turnt off.
So i ordered a new battery, put it in and charged it for 2h, still the exact same issue.
If anyone has a clue of whats the issue or experienced it himself, please help me.
Phone specs:
Rooted, bootloader unlocked, custom dual recovery with twrp and philz recovery installed, stock rom with android 5.0.1, about 2.5 years old, perfectly functioning until this issue occured
