Used Cerberus to get my phone back. When I got it back I did a factory reset, as all of my old data had been deleted anyway, and after the factory reset it looked for an automatic update, but returned an error saying that my phone had been modified. I haven't rooted or flashed in a while because I didn't want to deal with needing to undo it in order to use my warranty, but I've done it a few times, first with cyanogen on my G1, and then with Fresh on my EVO. However, now that my device has obviously been modified anyway, I figure its time to root and flash again. Do I need to be worried about whatever modification they made when I go to root and flash myself? Is there anyway to easily see what modification they made? I'm pretty sure no serious h4x0rz made any super secret changes, but is there anything I should check for to make sure I don't brick my phone while I root and flash? Any other info I need to provide besides what's above?
you can flash philz kernel first from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
do all the wipes (if you do not want to save any data) and install stock rom with how to from here:

if you want to install custom rom then check them here:

Thread closed as its essentially a Best ROM thread.

[Q] XT1068 Stock firmware needed KXB21.85-23 (UK Retail)

Good day all.
This morning I have received an OTA update to upgrade my XT1068 (UK Retail) from 4.4.4 to 5.0.
The phone is rooted, and has TWRP as recovery, due to this the update will not install.
I did try to use TWRP to restore my backup, TWRP got to approx 30% then the phone restarted without any warning. Now TWRP refuses to access my internal or external memory. and just restarts or locks up when I try.
Can anyone please point me to where I can download the stock UK retail firmware for my XT1068.
Here are the details from the system menu.

Don't worry. I unlocked bootloader with this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/wip-unlock-bootloader-moto-g-2nd-gen-t2875728I I have wind mobile and I didn't see any problems with signal.
Coming from Samsung to Moto I find the moto more tweak friendly. Like Arbiterandrea said, if you're only rooting it it should be a slam dunk.

Need Info about Moto G XT1079

I just bought this phone from Flipkart. I need few infos since I didnt see much info in the net.
Moto g 1st genereation also recieved, but xt1079 still running 5.0.2 ? Is there any OTA zip available to flash 5.1 ?
Xt1072 is same as xt1079 ?
Unlocking bootloader and Rooting methods for XT1079 ?
Any major or Minor Bug in XT1079?

- XT1079 is dual SIM, XT1072 isn't,
- There is no 5.1 OTA but you can get CM-12.1 (snapshot) build,
- You can find how to unlock your BL on the motorola site,
- Rooting stock rom = flash supersu.zip, CM is already rooted (just tick the root in dev options).

XT1079 is the better XT1072, since XT1079 has Dual SIM and 16GB internal storage:
