Can't backup using TWRP 2.7 - Verizon LG G2

Hi guys
So a few days ago I decided I wanted to backup so I swiped to backup, but when it came to backing up /data I got a backup failed error.
A post told me that I had to restore defaults in TWRP so I did that.
Now when I try to backup I get this error e: cannot mount storage device
Is it a good idea to safely downgrade to 2.6 and try? If so, how do I do it?
Thanks in advance.

I would go up to the newest version. If I remember 2.7 was the earliest version for kk, so going down probably won't help.
If all else fails, revert back to stock and start over.

Oh well. TWRP decided to suddenly cooperate with me and backed up everything. I then proceeded to install Resurrection Remix ROM onto my G2 but I ended up soft bricking it. I somehow got into recovery and restored the backup, and I'm on CloudyG2.2 now. Do you know what could be the cause of this?

Backup Question

I have a couple of questions I am hoping to get help with. First if I have a custom ROM on my phone like MoDaCo and I wipe back to factory will it also add back the apps I removed like Nascar, footprints, ect. I am asking because after I wiped it through the recovery screen it did not add these back. The second question is when trying to do a Nandroid restore from when I first rooted the phone after I updated it, I get an error telling me it has to be done from the shell. Can I do this and if so how? Thanks
can anyone help with this?
Are you using RA-1.2.3??
My Nandroid backups have never asked me to restore through terminal.
Your back up maybe corrupt?? If so, I am not sure if people have had success loading a Nandroid from another phone, but you are welcome to one of my factory backups if it works. Can someone confirm a Nandroid from another phone will restore? I will Send if it does.
Also, the factory reset in RA1.2.3 should put back all apps. It is a "Factory reset" though I have never done one without immediately loading a rom. Who knows how its actually supposed to work.

I am using RA-1.2.3. I guess it is possible the backup got corrupt when I moved it to my PC and then back to the phone. What is strange is none of the backups I had saved would take. I was able to do a backup and then right after that restore it so I know it works. I did about three factory resets and it would not add back the system apps I removed, but I think before the Sprint update when I first rooted the phone it did add back all the apps when I reset the phone. I could be wrong or it may be they came back when I put MoDaCo 1.1 on the phone since his ROM has everything with it. Thanks for responding.
last MoDaCo Rom I loaded (1.2c) all the stock apps came back, but I also loaded the Optimzation.zip so i wasn't sure who put them back.
Good to know it was the MoDaCo. It seems that even loading Rom's most things are fairly persistent and don't get wiped or over writen which is nice.
WinMoBo phones usually wipe everything out when you do this stuff.

doing a "factory reset" will not replace stock programs you deleted, it will just delete all your settings and apps you installed.
It's a misnomer in fact.... but when HTC made the option, they assumed that you hadn't rooted your phone. That's why all they really delete is the stuff in /data. Nothing in /system is added or modified.
If you really want to do a true factory reset, get the RUU from HTC and run it to reset your phone to exactly what it was when you got it.
As far as Nandroid not working, I've never had that problem either, but if your backup is corrupt then RUU will be your only option.

[Q] HELP! error message in recovery

So, kinda a long story, sorry. So to start off I obviously have a nexus one, I was running CM6.1 RC1 with some themes and blah blah. But the other day I decided to try out Rodriguez's MIUI rom, so I dl that, put it on my phone, booted into recovery made a nandroid backup of the CM6.1 I was running, and then wiped and installed the MIUI. I booted up and everything was running fine and when I remembered I forgot to backup my apps and data I figured I would just make a backup of the MIUI, wipe, restore the CM, backup what I needed and go back to the MIUI. But when I went to make a backup of the MIUI I got this message "error: run nandroid-mobile.sh recovery via adb." So when I got that message I just decided to forget the MIUI and just recover the CM. But when I tried doing that, I got the same message. Luckily I still had the MIUI.zip in my phone so I just re-installed that for my current rom while I try to figure this out. I researched a little online and thought it might have been that my battery was too low, so I charged it and no luck. Then I thought my sd card was too full so I cleaned it up and tried again, this time the backup of the MIUI worked, but when I wiped and tried to restore my original CM, I got the same message. So FINALLY, I thought that I would just re-install CM6.1 and take the MIUI off my phone completely and then try. But yet again, same message. So Im pretty stumped and would be very grateful for some help. Sorry for the novel, but I figured I would write all my steps so I didnt have to answer as many questions in future replies.

Charge your battery.
or revert your nandroid folder/file renames (if any) such that there are no spaces.

[Q] proper data directory after flash

I'm currently running ViperROM v1.1.0
I decided to try the CyanogenMod 10.13RC2 to check it out and see if I wanted to switch.
In TWRP (v2.5), did a nandroid backup, wiped, then flashed new CM. Upon rebooting, ASOP something kept crashing, but error message went away to fast for me to see it. Regardless, decided didn't want to keep it, until a Stable version is released.
Went back to TWRP, wiped System/Data/Boot/Cache, then went to restore, and none of my backups were listed. At first I thought I screwed up, or forgot to backup, did a little research, found that if installing a 4.3 ROM where a 4.2 ROM used to be, a /sdcard/0/ directory is created, and everything gets moved there.
Moved my TWRP backup files into /data/media/0/TWRP/Backups/ and was able to sucessfully restore my nandroid backup, so I think I'm back to normal now.
My question is, what is my default directory now, and where should my files be located?
/sdcard/ ? or /sdcard/0/ ?
As a follow up, if it is /sdcard/0/ now, is there any way to restore it so it's not longer looking in the /0 subdirectory?

I think you mean going from 4.1 to 4.2. 4.3 isn't officially out yet.

Thank you for the link. Tried searching ahead of time and knew the cause, but didn't find this post that explains how to get around it / restore it to pre 4.2.

Restoring Nandroid Question

Pardon my ignorance on the subject, i have not dealt with nandroid to much in the past. I have been pushed the new monthly update, and I am rooted. (I Know I cannot update while rooted! and am fully prepared to flash the files) My question is this, I have made a nandroid backup using TWRP, it is obviously for a different going to be for build, after I flash the updated files. I get that I can flash that and can go back to the previous build, but is there anyway to just restore apps from a nandroid backup, and not have to go back to the previous build? Or would I have better luck using something like Titanium w/ a pro key?
Thanks

You can flash just your data from backup. On the restore screen uncheck system and boot so that only data is checked. Will work on minor updates. Wouldn't do it if updating builds such as L to M where they don't have the same base.
Ok so going from Lollipop to Marshmallow is a no but how about being on LMY48I and going to LMY48M. I'm sorry I just want to make sure I know what I am doing before I mess it up.

It's fine. LMY48M is just a security update and not a base change.

Since you're using TWRP then that's the best. Make a backup of all partitions. If there is a problem while restoring try to restore one by one, maybe some cannot be restored, can't say nothing here. But a nandroid TWRP backup is the way to go, yes.

Hey, I backed up the file in steps, cause I did not had a big SD card at hand. The problem I am facing is I cannot backup system image. How can I backup that file? Is it important? Btw all back ups are done using twrp and I just realised that I could have just backed everything up in the phone storage and then copied it all as one file on to my laptop.

I haven't had any experience with TWRP or such things on phones newer than the Galaxy S5. I don't see a point to root or tinker with my Note 9 as it's perfect stock so can't really test if i can backup the system image myself. All things are important in a backup, is it grayed out or something? I'd always do a full 1 backup though, not in parts. Seems easier to restore later.
