How do you manage storage on your mi3? I'm really struggling with it right now with as low as 814kb free if cache is not cleared.
What are some tips you've to manage the data on a device with just around 13gb of usable memory.
P.S I'm paranoid about using cloud for photos etc.

As many others have, I frequently run into a lack of internal memory on my nexus. I only ever have about 20 mb free. So today I decided to try and figure out what takes up all my internal mem.
I have a stock, non rooted phone running 83d.
I use apps 2sd and dolphin browser with cache on sd
I went to apps2sd and added up all the package sizes of the apps on my phone memory, came up to about 93mb. Yet I only have about 20mb free. That means about 70mb is being used up by other crap. Phone and contact storage is only 2mb each. So what is eating my memory and how can I find out? is there an app that'll chart out internal memory usage by app/file?
Disk Usage, from the market may help...

93mb of apps is just for the actual app .apk file. app data takes a HUGE amount of space.
most things i've got left on the phone don't really have much associated data from the ones i've checked anyway. Still, can't believe there's no app to show internal mem usage. There's tons of them for the SDcard... Also, diskusage is only for sdcard. I'd still like an easy way to see what's taking up all my internal mem and decide if i want to uninstall it or clear the data or whatever.
As soon as you open diskusage, it asks if you wanna see internal or external...

I like this disk usage app,i find it interesting how the developer used the tap to com on the different layouts and how data is used
Hi all mates!!
Yesterday I decide to load music into my Razr i. When internal storage an sdcard appears, I observed that there are only 1.5Gb free... ¿?¿?¿?¿?.
I go into Settings-> Storage, and see that there are 3,5Gb of apps.
I've only installed a few applications without extra data. I can understand up tu 500mb, bet 3,5Gb? in a 8Gb device?
Its normal? How much internal storage you have?
Tonight post a screenshot Storage menu.
Sorry for my english! Thanks in advance, best regards!
Do you have something like Google Music that can store data in cache for offline use ?

I guess the default settings. Anyway, I had no music yet. I'll try to disable cache option on Google Music, but I think that default cache is 400mb.
Thank you for your help!!
Anymore ideas?.
You can use a app like diskusage to see what take so much place on your phone.

Thanks mate!! I installed it yesterday... the 3,5Gb appears like "system data", and 525mb in applications... System Data? How much indicates in your phones? Solid Explorer at the highest level, showed me about 750mb... where are the rest of storage?
My system data is for 118MB
And I have for 1.24GB for Apps
Strange that you have +3Gb in system Data
Maybe something in cache or some simlinks and the system count twice some datas.

That's normal. I dont know why I have so many system data... I think I will format internal sd and wipe data.
I recommend you to buy a microSD card...
The RAZR i has 8GB (approx.) of internal memory, which of them, 5.3 GB are available for the user, you're going to fill it with downloaded apps, youtube streaming, cache, music, apps data, etc etc etc... so, not to trolling, but I recommend you to use a microSD card for mucic, movies and photos...

In fact, I have a 8gb microSD card in my RAZR i... it contains musica, photos, videos etc... ie, heavy data.
Solved! I restore data and now i have 5gb free!
I think that the error had been produced by last update.
Thank you very much to all for help! Best regards.

No, I'm not a newbie.
But I having this bug on my Note. There's some files who's taking a lot of space here. Then I can't even install my keyboard app (swiftkey). So I thought. Backing up my usefull data from the internal storage (by windows) and then (yet by windows) format, then coming back with my usefull data.
Is there any harm doing that?

No, if you include the hidden directories then that shoulnd be a problem.
I guess you mean MB and not GB!
I would be very careful and very sure before you proceed. Try to find out which app is eating your memory first. You may have the same problem again otherwise.
Certain music streaming apps, such as Spotify, will save huge amounts of data on you internal storage to make the streaming of music less data hungry!
Find the problem before applying a solution!
Good luck
Probably those sd card data..go to sdcard/android/data and delete all those files you don't use

My Note is still going strong, but I have a permanent notification about lack of storage space, and the phone runs slowly.
The version of Android is 4.1.2 - would switching to KitKat reduce the amount of space required? I heard they tried to make it compatible with cheaper phones with less built-in storage space?.
I don't have many non-essential apps installed by now, and I have them on the SD card where possible. It seems that the Google Apps are now so big that they are taking up all the space.
My phone is rooted - if I switch to KitKat I guess I should be able to add the option to install to SD back in.
If KitKat is a good idea, and I want to keep S-Pen functions, which would be a fast rom to use?

Total space 1.97GB

USB Storage Total space 11.07GB

SD Card Total space 3.97GB

Switching ROM won't change it. But you can repartition to increase the internal storage size. You'll have to backup everything though because it will all be deleted.

How do I move apps from internal storage to sdcard?
I can find no option like that on the apps information. I installed an app that moves them but that just opens the app informations where there is no button to change the storage medium.
Also I read it might be possible to format the sdcard as internal storage. Maybe that's needed prior to moving apps.
But I can't find a way to format as such too.
The only thing I was able so far was to set the storage to sdcard for the nokia camera app.

I guess android one devices don't have the feature to have SD card as adoptable storage.
Sent from my Nokia 7 plus using Tapatalk
that would be quiet disappointing and does not make much sense either as there still is the option to force being able to move apps to sd.
at least partly this is a bug though or maybe a feature?
I installed the sd-card just recently after I setup the device and most apps.
seems if I clear cache and data of an app at least that will now be stored to sd.
some apps like google maps or nokia camera app allow to choose data location.

There is an option in developer options. Force allow apps on external
I hsve same problem. Got 32gb, fast samsung card. I can't move any apps to it, but copying files work, also cam.
I think option in developent settings is here because of anrdoid one, same as bootloader unlock, won't do nothing.
Can other ppl move apps to sdcard on n7+? Or does this only happens on Samsung card?
I got a replacement device and a new 256GB Samsug card. I'm not offered to format as internal storage as well. There is the option to force apps to sd but it won't work.
I guess there might really be no way to use the card other than media/data storage. And hope apps allow to choose data storage like some google apps and the camera app do.
Got this info at nokia's community forum:
Moving apps to SD is not supported on the 7, as it does not support adopted internal storage. It would perform badly regardless of the SD card used, as the built in storage is significantly faster. Use the SD only for data, as intended; there should be plenty of internal space for apps with larger data stored on SD.
So.. I think ill go root way, something's so much better on rooted device. I like command my own device my way, not google's way..
