Hello,
I have a pair of Xiaomi piston v2 on my Mi 3 running AOSP Lollipop.
I really like to listen to music but i'm missing the Mi sound enhancer settings in the sound tab located in android settings.
I was using the Xiaomi piston setting + some adjustments on Viper4android FX, I have Viper4Android on 5.0 now; but i'm really missing that perfect audio quality which I got from the Mi Enhancer (Dirac??)
So is there a possibility to port the sound settings from MIUI v6 to aosp?
Greetings,
Merlin
You can get it once you get used to v4a. It's difficult to use but if you get the right settings you can get that almost perfect sound. The only way to get it is try try and don't cry. I'll post the settings which works for me asap
---------- Post added at 03:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:04 PM ----------
PlaybackAGC enabled with 8x
Fire equalizer enabled with preset as acoustic
Field surround enabled
Differential sound enabled
VHS+ enabled at lvl3 while playing movies
Dynamic system enabled with common earphones 2 and bass at 55%
Viper bass enabled with natural bass
Viper clarity enabled with xhifi.
Yes I'm a bass lover. This profile works great with normal headphones for edm songs and movies
Thanks for your answer, but no. That sounds horrible with Mi piston earphones.
I was using the mi sound enhancer + viper4android in MIUI.
So i'm just asking if there is a way to port the sound enhancer to AOSP
Try extreme beats. It's an audio mod like v4a. It might help

I just spent hours creating new playlists and transferred all music to Z1. I want to squeeze out best possible sound quality. Please share your EQ setting. I just started playing around with it and haven't found the right setting yet.
EQ Settings highly depend on the speakers/ headphones you use, because every setup is balanced differently.
Just play around with it, as far as audio goes there is no right or wrong, as long as you like the sound!
Hi, I'm an audiophile bro. I suggest you to just leave the eq off. Artists have spent so much time in the studio to create the perfect sound that they want you to hear.
It depends on your taste and music genre, I mostly listen to electronic dance music and setting the bass on 6+ makes that kind of music much better imo.
I'm using Poweramp pro but remember to turn off all the Walkman sound effects first as they sort of compile on top of each other making poweramp harder to setup
and leaving everything to default settings is fine if you are in a studio and using their sound equipment - the EQ setting can compensate for a poor set of earphones or if on a hifi system can alter setting to suit equipment and the room accustics - none of us will have a studio soundstage

ClearAudio+ and Dynamic normalize is the best for me.

After I played around, I ended up with just Clear Bass +10 and VPT to Studio. I'm using Sony XBA-4. My music sound excellent!! I'm super happy with sound quality I get from Z1:good:
- From left to right: +2, -3, -6, 0, +4
- Bass at 10.
- Studio surround

Best EQ setting
Hi Sitti,
Squeezing out the best possible sound quality depends on the headphone you are using. If you have got a normal headphone, you need to play around with the EQ to get the best possible sound output. And, if you are using audiophile gear, you may not need to do any settings at all!
I will give you an example :-
I own a Sony Xperia M Dual. The default headphones which comes along with it are quite decent enough, with a dominant bass line. I am kind of an audiophile, I don't like too much bass. So, I have tweaked the EQ settings in the following way to get the best possible sound out of it :
Clear Bass Level : +7
Equalizer (left to right) - -3 +3 +4 -3 +2
Surround Sound - Studio
Clear Stereo - Off
Dynamic Normaliser - On
And, that's all! Trust me, you will love your music. Let me know.

Hi,
Please note that EQ settings are heavily dependent on the headphones you are using. Following EQ settings are according to my audio gear that I use. Believe me, they sound amazing! A bit closer to true audiophile gears!
My device : Sony Xperia M Dual
Headphone : Sony MH410C
EQ settings :
Clear Bass level : +10
Equalizer (left to right) : -4, +4, +4, -3, +3.
Settings :
Surround Sound : Studio
Clear Stereo : Off
Dynamic Normalizer : On
Happy Listening!
Another best EQ setting
Phone : Sony Xperia M Dual
Headphone : Sony MDR E818
Equaliser settings :
Clear Bass : +10
EQ (left to right) : 0 +2 +3 -3 +3
Settings :
Surround : Studio
Clear Stereo : Off
Dynamic Normaliser : On
Enjoy your music!
Well if you REALLY want to get the best possible sound out it I suggest getting the AC!D Sound Engine MOD.
Makes everything sound nice and clear with awesome bass. I have it on my Z1s and couldn't be more happy.

Works Nicely Volume is louder and my bass has more punch, along with the clear audio its just perfect!
If this helps Go ahead and and give me my first Thanks
I use Denon ah-d600 and I listen to metal.. Without any bass...to get enough I put the tru bass to 4.. And when I listen to music with bass in it I turn it down to zero...
Good headphones does not need eq... The equalizer destroys the sound to my ears

Thanks for the response.
If you feel male vocals lack warmth and depth, just increase the 400Hz from (-3) to 0., but not more than that, as it will introduce unnecessary hum.
If you feel too much bass, just decrease the Clear Bass level accordingly.
That should do it.

After long search and many tries i finally found something that boosts our speaker!! I'm posting some alternatives too to make it more like a debate thing!
I've created a thread because i really want everyone to share thoughts on this.
1- Volume + (Simplest)
Stock rom 4.0.4 but i think will work on any rom.
Don't expect clear sound because as it messes with bass so for better audio use headphones or an iPod .
Simply install the attached apk on the thread (no need to change stock audio_effects.conf)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642379
2- ViPER4Android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
3- Voodoo Sound
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.controlapp
Not working with stock kernel so use this awsome instead:

That's not true, our tab actually has a quite decent speaker quality because of the WM8994 chip. Its just Samsung that messed up the volume so you can't feel it.

Thank you for the response but yes i've tried ViPER4Android, i tried Voodoo also and although it gives a boost of sound when it's in the middle range it doesn't get louder when it's on max volume then the stock.
The clarity of sound is obvious and gives a lot of customization but i really wanted an higher speaker to use when i am on noisy ambients. With Volume+ we get that with simple turn on/off and setting it to 12 it gives us at least 50% of amplified sound not losing much quality.
Perhaps with all that costumization i'm missing something, can you please share your settings?
I'll redraw op.
Thanks

Do you enable ''Force-Enable''? if you do, does it drain the battery? since it says a warning ''Might cause battery drain on some ROMs''
Out of Topic
Why when I use a secondary music app [Shuttle + Pro] It always say ''Unfortunately, DSP Manager has stop''? Cause the EQ to turn off by itself after a couple of songs?

Works! I feel the quality more if I use the headset than when I use the speaker. What do I do with DSP manager? since it always crashes, is it ok to freeze using Titanium Backup Pro, is there no effect to ViPER4Android if I freeze the DSP manager? sry for the load of questions
Freeze-it!! You can always un-freeze-it
It will be nice to having dolby digital pluse/atmos
We need devs to port dolby digital for our rom(cm11)
What do think guyzz???
there's viper, why you need dolby? just asking
Bcz it is advance
Follow this thread for viper4android in cm11, its all in one, you just have to know how to use it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-x2/general/flashable-viper4android-v2-3-4-0-cm11-t3225284
not all features were used, on my case i used only EQ and fidelity control on headset. sometimes i use playback gain control for louder volume
I used it,,,,and it will delete androids native eq
No other 3rd party app can play theirs own eq system except v4a
SRC about dolby
Its done!!!!

Hi can someone tell me which is the best audio option for the Mi5? And which equalizer supports HIFI audio?.
By the way, what's the difference between Normal and FX Booster Equaliser in Snapdragon Audio+?
Thanks
As i see many people flashing the old oreo stuff from Whiskey on AOSP which result in many bug, i decided to make a module to enable dual speaker mod, pseudo-HIM mode, and Gcam - stereo recording mod on AOSP
Feature:
+ pseudo-HIM mode, should make sound better and DAC toggle work
+ Stereo recording
+ Dual speaker - no mic breaking
+ I still attach the Poweramp 24 bit mod in attached file
Note:
+ Not working with ainur or narsil or any mixer path editing mod
+ Can work together with the Poweramp 24 bit mod attached
+ May have some unknown bug, report if you have any
For old OP:
Hello everyone
After a bit of work, me and @legacyeah manage to bring the great Legacy Audio Mod by @Rizal Lovins, in the form of a Magisk Module for quick installing and removing. We also manged to fix some bug found in the original audio mod.
Features:
* 24 bit output on poweramp
* enable 384 khz resampling
* Working audio recording in video
*Based on and improve upon Rizal Lovins Legacy Audio Mod on XDA
Notes: DVC in poweramp is bugged so DVC only work with 192, 96,48,44.1 khz resampling rate. Other resampling rate will need DVC disabled
*IMO sound quality is better compare to stock pie, it feel the same as stock LG sound quality*
Confirmed working on Havoc 0402 + Ainur with no other Audio mod or AML , other rom and compatibility with other audio mod need more tester
How to install:
1. On an AOSP Pie rom
2. Have Magisk working (if you dont know what magisk is and how to install it, search Google)
3. Flash the provided zip through TWRP or Magisk manager (Magisk manager may has bugs causing the zip not flashable)
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy ! (Music player may need further setting for 24 bit output)
Note 2: If you find any bug, please feel free to report but please remember if you use this mod with other sound mod (like Viper 4 Android, DTS..) the bug will be noted but no promise for it to be fixed
Credit goes to:
@legacyeah for mic recording bug fix
@Rizal Lovins for the original mod
@SGCMarkus for providing AOSP for our device
And all the testers on telegram group
Update:
*18/2/19: add mod option to force enable HIM ( will cause sound distortion on normal headphone- dont complain)
*23/2/19: 24 bit mod HIM is now a separate module, you can install both module and enable one of your choice
*10/3/19: add 24 bit mod Dual speaker mod. Courtesy of @Dante63. Also cleaning up unnecessary file.
*6/4/19: With new device tree, AOSP now have working 24 bit output by default and HIM mode as well as DAC filter and sound preset working (with Ainur), those mod are depreciated. However, PowerAmp still need a mod to enable 24 bit output. Hence thread is updated with the necessary mod
*3/7/19: Add Pseudo HIM mod, dualspeaker mod, stereo recording.

I fiddled around with some settings. I fixed it. I have been using the 384kHz option with DVC disabled which works but sometimes I end up with the song skipping. I switched it to 192kHz with DVC enabled and that seems to resolve any issues I have. Why are the higher kHz options available if they don't work well or at all? Is it related to the way this mod is set up or how Poweramp is setup?

From my experience on stock, 384KHz drops it to 16bit and stops DTS from working.
