[Q] Best custom rom for MI3 - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hy, which one is the best custom rom for our MI 3 ?
blisspop,mokee,Ivan's rom,audahadi ,bitti09 etc ?
And what about battery, random reboot, deep sleep, performance ?
thanks

I think best rom is aosp by ivan coz this rom stable and good battery

Every rom has some default as kernel sources aren't release for the moment. All these roms are sharing same kernel (ivan's one)
So after some tests : (on every ron no HDR)
-Ivan : simple and functionnal rom, good battery, but not enough option and sound is very low
-audahadi (temasek) : a lot of options, stable, don't know about battery, good sound
-Bitti09 (CyanogenMod) : as good as audahadi one , good sound
-Mokee : Good rom, performant, average battery life, lot of options as cyanogenmod, too much camera crashes, good sound
-BlissPop : A lot of option, this is the best for personalisation, but bad battery life (3H screen on, 10 hours of normal use), stable, good sound
-XenonHD : I didn't manage to flash it.

Mokee is the best amongst all of above...it runs flawlessly for me...also battery life is as excellent as MIUI...

As far as I know, it is against the rules of XDA to talk about which is the best ROM. Every developer does hard work to build custom ROMs for us. You should try these ROMs and find out yourself which is best for you. Respect all the developers..

Yep that's true, all these roms are awesome, the choice just depend of what he needs.
All these devs are doing great work in my opinion

Didn't you face issues with Audahadi's Temasek? It has call bug, and in the last 2 version whenever I pressed power button to make it sleep it goes to death. I had to press power button for 15 seconds to bring it back.
I wanted to know your experience....

Using omni rom since 2 days .. Very stable .. Compass GPS camera all work .. Getting good battery life also .. Pretty stable ..

Mokee rom (5.1.1) It is the best. Im using it for 2 weeks and still dont belive how good it is. No bugs. 4k pictures. No deepsleeps. 10x better than Ivans rom, for now. Also flashlight in drop down (Great feature for me personally). Also my benchmarks are a lot better than on miui v6, by a lot. Now my phone beats one plus one for a few percent. Also battery is good and less heat than before (on miui v6 ).

[Q] the best galaxy i9000 rom

i tried cyanogenmod 10.2 but it has no fm radio i said ok . but it does not support network connections over edge , 3g. i want to know which rom is the most stable and fast and good looking and has no bugs or at least few known ones for my galaxy s i9000. and thanks.
Edge and 3G working well with CM 10.2. For FM radio you could try SpiritFM.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
try the
Mackay 4.4 is one of the best i tryied!
;D
When I tried CM 10.0 & 10.1 (stables) the roms functioned oké, but terrible battery life with their own CM-kernel. That was fixed with both roms after changing the kernel to Semaphore which gave much more batterylife. (I never use FM, but with Semaphore manager among others FM can be switched on and radio worked on my SGS1 tested with Spirit FM).
However each time after trying new CM I tried latest stable Slim Bean (which has Semaphore-kernel included) and never looked back. For me Slim Bean blew CM totally out of the water concerning performance and batterylife. (Stability both good by the way). And very nice options in rom such as Real Dark Slim.
Now I am strongly concidering trying Mackay 4.4 (instead of SlimKat bèta). Not only because I want KitKat on my i9000. As it appears to function better with our low RAM. Especially the very alive community around it tickles my curiousity.
Anyone has experience with both Slim and Mackey? How does performance, stability and batterylife differ between them? And which of Mackey's function better? Omni- or CM-based?

i am using the nightly cyanogen mod 11 and it is stable and i haven't noticed any bugs or problems during the 2 days i have been testing it, except the fm radio which does not work on all unofficial roms Spirit FM seems to have problems any better rom or solution to the fm radio would be appreciated.
and is Mackay 4.4 better than cm 11. should i try it ?
im using c-rom with cma kernel so far so good

I don't know with KK (yet) if also working, but CM-JB with Semaphore kernel instead of CM-kernel and Semaphore Manager one can switch on FM Radio and use Spirit FM. Most likely there is a thread for KK.

Even though best rom threads arent allowed on xda, ill post my reply: cm10.2.0- superfast, only slight lags while gaming, good battery life, no bugs that i can see.
just moved from cm11 with semaphore to cm11&mackay kernel. best descision ever. great battery live (8h of no big use/79% battery left) and pretty fast too - depends on mackay settings. :victory:
i am useing mackay rom 4.1.8 (from 04.01.14) and the phone is amazing, it was never as fast and good as now (android 4.2 and 4.3 were complet garbage for the sgs)
even though i will buy the xperia Z1 compact in a few weeks, i will keep the sgs for my workouts in the gym
i'm using Mackay CM9 and is working very good
My SGS has had almost all possible roms. After 3 years of changing roms. I've go back to almost Stock version of 2.3.6 XWJW8 with semaphore kernel 2.7.4. with smart launcher 2. It is fast enought.
And what is most important it works more than few days without update.
So i if you need stable phone I suggest to check this setup
You can't just say what's the best rom because every rom it's different just like the users and how they use their phone. But if you wanna know some quick facts here we go:
Stock GB has the best battery because it lacks feature and with a good kernel it can be pretty fast.
Now talking about custom roms :
ICS, in my opinion has better battery than JB or KK. Free ram is pretty high, second place, first is KK.More features than GB not so many as JB or KK
JellyBean : not much of a big fan but i can say that 4.1.2 was by far the best from all the versions. The battery and resources consumption was fair and has more features than the precedents.
KitKat is my favourite. The battery consumption it's ok and it has more free ram than any other android versions and the features are just great.
As for kernel i'm a big fan of Stratosk's Semaphore kernel. No matter what rom i use the kernel is the same.
If you wanna try custom KitKat rom you can try these ones(these are the only ones that i have tested like 2 to 4 weaks each)
SlimKat - Very very smooth just like all their custom roms.Nice features like TRDS, SlimPie and others. Ram usage is good but the battery is draining a little fast for me but this is just my case and maybe others have different experience.
Mackay's Kitkat - This is also a very nice kitkat rom.it's smooth it has good features but just like the one above, i don't like the battery and after some time it became a little laggy.
C-Rom - This is the last one which i'm using right now.I love this one.Ram usage is good , i like the battery( i can get over 19 hours) ,it has great features.Never felt my i9000 so smooth.
My test where done with 3g/wifi on all the time, more than 3 hours screen time, music for 2-3 hours, facebook, whatsapp and others(daily). Some of the apps are greenified and some frozen.
Hope this helps you !

I too like xwjwb + semaphore 2.7.4, after trying many kitkat, this and that.........one more saurom v2 + ICS theme + transperent menu+ additional settings works best, fast smooth reliable with much more time on battery.(I try 2/3 roms on daily basis)

Sounds interesting to try C-Rom then. SlimKat 3.0 Official runs good and smooth here, but indeed battery life (not idle/sleep, but) when using is wildly guessing at least about 33 percent less than my favorite JB before Slim Bean 4.3.1 last stable/official. Music/podcasts for instance at least two hours less battery time. And in every KK thread you read about bad battery life.
On a site note. My 'modern' Nexus 7 2013 with stock Android also performed better on JB than KK. A clean flash of factory rom and factory reset didn't help. For example battery life (active with screen on time and/or playing music/podcast) JB 4.3.1 was 12-13 hours. KK 4.4 had 8-9 and now KK 4.4.2 does 10-11 hours. The contrary of media srories about KK being better optimized and lower on resources and Ram. And I read a lot simular experiences around the net.
So I was considering on SGS1 going back to JB, but first try Mackay's ICS 2014. Perhaps I'll give C-rom first a chance. And perhaps if it arrives meanwhile newest SlimKat stable. When still battery life not as good as JB before, definitely ICS 2014 or Slim Bean again.

dear masters, im looking for a custom rom that works with the voodoo sound app from playstore.
ics, jb or kk will do.
im currently running on cm10.2-20130826-nightly-galaxysmtd build (first sgs phone i have), it says on my voodoo app that it has a built in voodoo sound but i cant really hear the improvement (weak volume) over my other sgs with gb 2.3.5. + voodoo sound app from playstore (another sgs i bought from an online store).
some of the forum i visited says there is a tab for the wolfson dac on the dsp manager but i have non on my sgs running a custom rom.
i also tried installing a semaphore kernel but no luck, my sgs says that
no need to load module
built in kernel voodoo sound: v.0

[Q] Which ROM do you use?

Hey everyone,
There has been a lot of development going on recently for our device. So tell us what ROM and kernel do you use and why you like it.
It will help other people to know the features and USPs of other ROMs.
I am currently using Ivan's AOSP with Stock Kernel.
BTW Thanks @Cancro90 for your index.
I have now swtiched to Paranoid Android. Unfortunately, I cannot edit my poll vote...
Coming from Ivan's AOSP, it sure seems equally fluid, the battery life and performance is really good with Phantom Kernel.
I have used PAC ROM too, and it is a great ROM for those looking for a plethora of features.
MIUI v6? Nope, not my cup of android candy! Though a few people still use it.
I prefer my candy vanilla-like .
I've tried the AOSP and Cm ROMs, but I keep coming back to MIUI. I like the look and feel of MIUI, but the biggest thing is the camera. I can't stand the bad camera quality when compared to MIUI. I will miss the audio quality of AOSP/Cm ROMs as they sound so better. So it's almost a toss up between the two. If/when Xiaomi fixes the audio quality (hopefully with lollipop) I will be truly happy.
Also, for me, I got a Xiaomi phone to experience MIUI at its best, just like I would get a Nexus device to have the best stock Android experience. Sometimes I'll feel like going to AOSP, but I really like how MIUI feels on a Xiaomi phone.

currently I'm using Ivans AOSP 5.1.1 on stock kernel after using the MIUI6 developer rom for quite some time.
MIUI6 PRO:
- gorgeous design,
- the best camera app for MI3
- plenty of features.
- stable
MIUI 6 CON:
- comparably slow and battery draining
- full of bloat-ware
I'm still testing the AOSP,
so far it seems stable (some random call drops) , is fast and responsive, consumes less battery and of course no bloat-ware
It seems most of the users use Ivan's AOSP...

Ahah yes MIUI Pro rom has the better camera with unleashed function (I posted it monthes ago on miui forum and a way to use it on chinese MIUI rom or other international MIUI. For camera with custom rom I'm using OppoCamera (yes HDR still broken) that allows me long exposure, zero shutter lag, manual iso and so on. Sadly HDR still broken and it's so useful function, Manual focus is broken too.
Actually I'm using Paranoid rom with stuxnet+ kernel, which is a great combo.

Fastest/most stable rom

In your opinion what is the fastest and most stable rom for the mi 5 not including miui. I'm on cm13 which seems good but no tap fingerprint to go home is annoying. Cm14.1 was so slow compared to miui and cm1 3.
Try Resurrection Remix 5.8.1.Got a lot more features than Lineage, and stable enough for daily use.

Other roms are based on los /cm. Also los has the biggest user base atm , thus more people reporting problems and rom becoming more stable. If you're not looking for a specific rom I'd stick with los. Using it as my daily driver I have no problems whatsoever.

Everything in lineage is stable, and the notification shade that you are talking about is perfectly working, you can directly reply to anyone without opening the app.
For camera, the quality of stock cam is poor when compared to other cams like snap, etc.
The famous in-call volume issue is resolved in next weekly build. Only thing that needs to be taken care of is the misbehaving quick charge support.
Qc works but only when your screen is off. Devs are working on it and it will be fixed soon.
Battery backup on nougat is also fine, but its not better than MM (i think). That's why I m still on MM and getting around 9h of on screen time, and meanwhile also enjoying xposed :fingers-crossed:

For nougat it gives max 3-4 hour SOT, because my battery has ruined without no gaming, only mobile data, WhatsApp, Telegram, Line, Facebook. With total time on 16 hour.
For OREO it gives max 4-5 hour SOT, because my battery has ruined without no gaming, only mobile data, WhatsApp, Telegram, Line, Facebook. With total time on 21 hour.

Newbie here, in term of stability for daily driver, how do you compare this bleeding edge OREO ROM with Cosmic-OS OREO 8.1 ROM? Thanks man

I haven't use Cosmic - OS so I can't compare with it.
Currently I'm using AEXmod OREO by DennySPB. It really stable as daily drivers and get routine weekly update, some people report that this ROM doesn't have VOLTE support, I can't verify it because VoLTE not supported at my place.
Sorry for my language too amazing for understanding. [emoji28]

JDCteam 7.1.2 wins hands down as far as speed (and stability) go. I've tried several other roms and always kept coming back to JDC. It's the fastest and most fluid rom by far, and it's bug free. There is also oreo beta version that is equally fast and fluid, but it's still beta and doesn't have all the features so I'm sticking with 7.1.2 as a daily driver. There is also bb kernel for JDC which I have tried but didn't notice a big difference in performance or battery between stock kernel that comes with JDC rom, so I am using stock. Newer firmware as well (v7.12.14 currently).
I am surprised that people here often recommend some roms that either are not fully functional (PA 7.3.1 doesn't have call volume adjuster for example), or that are utterly slow (latest AEX 7.1.2 for example, very laggy). I don't mean to bash the mentioned roms, I respect the people that develop them, but I wouldn't recommend them as daily drivers.

Whats your opinion on LOS? I have used LOS several times and briefly Mokee Rom. But I kept coming back to MIUI Developer. Is JDC better than LOS at present. I use only one phone so stability is a huge concern.
Great if you can share screenshot of this rom for comparing to the stock one.

Yes. From my experience JDC is more fluid than LOS and LOS based roms, and I have not experienced any instability so far.
I always do a clean flash, currently on last JDC 7.1.2 / Gapps pico / v7.12.14 firmware

I almost forget with JDC Nougat, it's been long time since I open xda for searching ROM, it's good nougat ROM with minimal costumization.
Yes the latest official AEX with stock kernel not so good, try with Nagatobimaru kernel and you will get good performance.
What I mean in my post is AEXmod by DennySPB, It does not release at xda but at telegram. Maybe you can try, for first time reboot it little bit slower because app optimization, but after reboot it gives me good performance and battery life comparing with nougat based ROM.

There's official version of RR ROM in xda, but it is final version, so won't be updated anymore. Here is the link :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/rom-resurrection-remix-v5-8-0-t3508390
In my previous post, it is unofficial version. The developers still maintain the ROM and update it if there are any changes on RR base.

last time I used PA ROM, I didn't noticed any annoying bugs, it's stable for daily use.
But it only has little costumization.
For battery life, any nougat ROM have almost same battery life, just little difference 30 minutes SOT usually.

Which ROM do you suggest for battery life? My Mi5 is a year and a half old and the screen time is only 4h on LOS, on a youtube video of 15 min the battery discharge of 5%, is that normal? PS. The bringhtness is set to 30%
I just tried dot os, and im in love with it!! It almost as same as jdc in term of speed, i hope it got a final update where the bugs is all gone, i found a tiny bugs that is not affect performance such as cannot change user's pic, setting in dot extras forced closed when tried to turn off camera sound, and many settings that require to be turned off and on before it works properly, but this is the best rom since JDC in my opinion, hmmmm, havent tried that rr tho, is it so different from that laggy official one?
What I can say, since I want a light but full working ROM, is to go with Xiaomi.eu ROM which has all Miui functions without unnecessary app and battery life, speed, ram management are way better. Unlike other ROM you have not to fix many things not working and set stuff. For example many roms got problems with camera (front or back) so you have to find a solution and since I want things already working I put Xiaomi.eu ROM on my phone and I can be safe.
But actually I'm thinking to try Miui 7 last version because it was the fastest and with better battery consumption. It misses a lot of new features which slow the phone.

I should say that I agree with you. Best ROM considering speed and stability is the xiaomi.eu rom. But LOS and JDC Nougat ROMs are also stable and bug free. If you want a near stock android experience you should try one of them. LOS is better imo as they provide weekly builds. otherwise better to go with the xiaomi.eu ROM.
I have a bad image retention with my display so sadly I'll have to stick with LOS for the rest of the future of my mi5 ....

Best pie rom with no bugs?

With so many pie roms , i dont know which one is good, i tried some but they all had bugs , do anyone know of any pie rom which i can use as a daily driver ?
It's little to early for bugless Android pie ROM, respected developers working to make it stable.
Currently i am using Arrow OS and it's working good, battery backup is also good.
I was using Havoc OS but latest Pie update gave tremendous standby time heat and battery drain rather than that Havoc OS is best ROM with many features. I saw someone saying using custom kernel ROM performance is good. I haven't tried it but if that works then it's pretty good ROM as Android Pie based daily driver.
Use arrow os it has good performance and battery life and it can be used as daily driver. I am using it for more than a week, but Volte doesn't work?
Stable ROM for santoni
Official Reveneg OS is most stable one. I find it better than Havoc OS ( serious heating and battery draining issue) and Arrow OS ( Heating issue ). Check Tech Office YouTube Channel for it's download link and Review.

Here's RevengeOS https://sourceforge.net/projects/revengeos/files/santoni/
Everything works, but the default interactive governer doesn't sleep and battery drains very fast. There doesn't seem to be system update in settings either.

Gapps are all there yes, but I've updated my post after using this rom for a day. Basically battery drains fast. IDK why the guy on YouTube said battery life is good on this rom, it's not.

For me, I used Arrow and Havoc. I find it better than those two. I backuped this rom and I can switch to other better Rom If I found. I'm keeping eye on this Rom's next update Ver. too. I was charging my device when I read your Reply. At that time my battery was at 61%. I removed the charger and then went to search for more Posts and Rom's And After that watched some youtube videos about custom boot Logo for Redmi 4(my device) And after almost 25-30 mins I checked my Battery Level again. It was at 59%. I don't know if it's too abnormal or not. I find it Ok (at least for an early build Pie rom for Santoni).
Do you have any better Rom to suggest? I would love to try them.?
Use arrow os I've tried plenty of roms and find it's pretty stable and gives good battery backup.

and although it has a couple minor bugs, like "there error with your device" notification on every boot, it's pretty stable and usable. No major bugs
