Will this new OS work on our phones and is it able to port to our phones when it comes out? It looks really nice on the Oneplus one and new Hero 2+ for Alcatel soon

What does that OS have to do with CM? Its by a completely different team.
What i meant was cyano 12s and oxygen os. Are our phones able to handle and be ported when these versions come out

Ported? Maybe. But it will be a port. Kinda like tossing sense on a different device. It may work but won't be the best.

Yes i figured that. It will be nice when 5.1 comes to our phone. i have ATT. This is my first HTC high end coming from Nexus 4. Whats nice is on the One you can switch from KK roms to Lollipop roms on N4 if youre on a 5.0 bulid or higher thats it unless you factory image back to 4.4.4

As far as I know there is no source for MIUI that isn't based off of Kitkat or lower. Since the Nexus 6 never received KitKat (officially), this could be a large obstacle for devs to overcome.
also the only MIUI roms that are based on lollipop are all 64 bit while we are a 32 bit device
Not to mention no real developer will touch MIUI.
oh lookie here.. its yet ANOTHER person asking for miui on the n6, since the first one in the end of 2013. and yet, still no miui.

I briefly looked in to how to port things, and from what I've read, it's easier to do when you are porting a rom from a device that is as close to identical to yours hardware-wise as possible. That means that ideally, it would be good to have the rom available for the Nexus 6. This rom does not support the Nexus 6 yet, so it may be more difficult. It looks interesting though.

Yes it does seem interesting the ceo is a **** of that company. I hope whoever is bright enough to snag that rom for the 6 and port it to us will find a way.
Cm14 branch for oneplus 3 is up on github

Here we go!
That was fast!
Sweeet. Hell even the 6P already has an asop based ROM now. Thing's are gonna get good with this version of Android.
Well that's good news alright it'll just take a while theres not even gapps yet.
I'd totally take an AOSP rom thought to tide over the wait.

Really? is surprising, 5 months ago we got a Developer Preview, they can start developing since that day, not now, it does not seem so strange people asking for that.

you got this wrong!! the source was released now. since that they can start the developing. the developer Preview was just to test nougat and for the developers to adjust their apps to the new android version.

Not to mention the fact that the Dev Previews were only for Nexus devices, and never had source released until yesterday. Be patient or buy a Nexus.

Oh, this seems promising! Will wait for future updates!
This may sound like a very dumb question but isn't CM14 the same as Android 7/Nougat, because CM13 was Android 6?

LOL j/k welcome to android my friend and if you look back at the history off cm you will see the numbering system matches android numbering system in its own way. So yes CM14 is 7.0
I hope vulkan api will be included.
Well the branch is already up for 14 days. There are also no changes yet so we have to be patient, it still might take a few weeks until we see a nightly. I hope Android will one day be unified for all devices, so that we have a unified interface for all the hardware... This would make developing so much easier. Imagine we you just install a ROM like a OS to your computer and like 95% of the hardware is already ready to go.
Hi guys,
Recently Google announced that tomorrow 6th of December when they release 8.1 Oreo they're going to release also Android Go Oreo for low end devices, and would like to ask it would be possible to port this in the Nexus 4 ?
Because the device can handle it and it would be perfect for it to have an official lightweight rom
Here is also the link from the announcement

Yes I am also interested in this!!!

Is it really necessary though? I mean, the Nexus 4's specification can handle full-fledged Android just fine.....

well depends, as a phone is ok but with only 16gb of storage installing only a few apps the storage gets occupied quickly or with only the Android OS installed but with GO at least you have latest Android OS and the low storage requirement is a plus...
Or on the other hand i could install other roms but something official is not bad either as a option !
I haven't seen much work done on ASUS phones for LineageOS ROM releases. I particularly couldn't find a ROM for the first ROG Phone. Now, after much waiting, the ROG Phone II is available. What needs to be done in order to be able to flash the ASUS ROG Phone II with a custom ROM?
I would like to upgrade my phone, but doing it without an alternative to the default OS is a no-go, for me.

We need a real dev, which i wouldnt expect.
So are basically none of the custom ROM groups doing work on ASUS phones, these days?

Nope. Asus doesn't send out units to devs, like other companies do. If they did, we probably would have many roms.

I do have a person who could 100% get lineage on it, but we would need to him a device.
TBH, I'm a custom rom flasher too! BUT, there's so many options to customize ROG II that I don't feel the need to flash other roms - for now at least...
Also note, we have air triggers which make the rom even harder to code...

100% false. They sampled out a bunch of Zenfone 6, including to arnovag82, the entire reason the gcam port works on rog phone ii to begin with.

Your statement is still laughably false and completely misinformed. Try doing a simple search before making up claims: https://www.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-6-custom-rom-twrp-lineageos/

My point, is Google should make a phone like this. New pixel 4 6gb ram...2.0ufs, and 64gb storage. What a joke
So, I don't really care about the accessories. If I could just get an /e/ or LineageOS port, I'm satisfied with just having the powerful hardware. I've thought long and hard about it, but there's just absolutely no way I'd run a phone with its default OS.
If I could afford it, I'd certainly try to see what I could do about getting another one, but I'd feel awkward about not having any guarantees.
Is there no way I could get a walkthrough for how I can accomplish this custom ROM on my own?
Right now, there's no ROM development going for this device. Still you (developers) can build ROMs because this device has stock vendor source which can be used with any customized System OS.
There's also unofficial TWRP for which you can use it to modify the stock ROG 2 system as your liking. Like disabling & removing system bloat apps, flashing Magisk root, using Edxposed framework & GravityBox, etc.
ROM development has halted because devs dont want to waste their time working on Android 9 when ASUS has been beta testing Android 10 when developers received their phones. They are waiting for Android 10 kernel source code.
You can see this by checking their GitHubs, LineageOS was in development 3 weeks ago, its up to ASUS to finish their update first.

LMFAO, 3 mos later.
That is the general idea.
So your are not prepared to put your money where your month was ( Google should have made this phone) then just chill and enjoy until. I mean whats the point of moaning about something someone hasn't not done, when you can not do it yourself.
From my opinion the system comes with the phone is good enough because it provides the stock android option. Especially the android q updated recently.
