[Q] GPS losing signal? - LG G Flex

I just got a used LG G Flex D950 and it has been losing signal when navigating to work. I never had any problems with my Nexus 4.
Is my G Flex defective?

Factory Reset should resolve the issue.
Is your device rooted ?

It was factory reset when I received it and I'd rather not factory reset again because I'd have to re-install all the apps. Is that the only fix?
Yes, I rooted it using Stump Root Brute Force method.

So nobody else is having this issue? Does that mean mine is defective?
I can try factory reset if you guys think it'll fix the problem.

Sorry for the delayed response. Is it "losing signal" or not getting signal at all ?
Install GPS Status & Toolbox and let it run for 10-15 minutes and check if you are getting any "fix".If not, probably, there is something wrong with "gps.conf".
The easiest fix is "Re-flashing" current framework or flashing the latest framework.(Wipe cache partition before flashing).
Backup your apps and data using Titanium Backup or Helium.Backup your contacts to gmail and multimedia to your computer.
Hope this helps!!!

Are you still having problem while navigating ? You are getting fixes i.e. it's not a harware problem.Number of fixes depends on your position, you won't get enough fixes if you are inside your house.
Are you using Stock ROM or some Custom ROM ?
As I said, flashing the latest framework would resolve the issue (Wipe cache partition via recovery before flashing).

Yes. I lost signal once today when I was driving to work. I never lost signal with the Nexus 4. Perhaps the GPS is weaker on the G Flex?
I'm on stock rom. Is there a link on how to flash the latest framework? Will that do anything to my apps?

Yes,you will lose your apps, data, messages, contacts etc so backup those things (mentioned in post #5).You can restore them later.
For Stock ROM ask on G Flex thread. Here is a link.Go through that thread before proceeding and ask OP if that will work in your case coz there are 3 different firmware builds for AT&T,Sprint and T-mobile.
Here is another LG community.
I fixed GPS related problems on Wildfire using AGPS PATCH.Have a look.It might also help you.Check and ask them if your device is supported
Hope this helps!!Good luck!!

Thanks!

Is flashing the latest framework the same as flashing stork firmware? This seems difficult. I guess I'll try doing factory reset first.

Frameworks provided by LG for "G Flex" ,be it the latest framework (Lollipop Framework) or older framework (KitKat or Jelly Bean) are all Stock Firmwares.
Stock Firmware of a device means the official ROM/Firmware/Mobile OS provided by the device manufacturing company for that particular device.
I hope that's clear now.

So basically they're the same. The latest framework for G Flex is KitKat, which is also the stock firmware in the link you gave.

Completely revert to stock without USB connection

My phone is no longer capable of making a USB connection.
Now i want to revert it to stock, i thought i did so but it turns out the stock CWM rom I installed has some mods like root and busybox.
I was wondering if it is possible to flash an older stock rom through cwm and then have the phone auto update to the newest version? I also wonder if OTA updates update the baseband?

Thats what i think will happen, I want to fully revert to stock first though and check that.
You can use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617458
Thou it won't be a clean stock and you probably need the stock kernel for your region to be inside or it can be seen.
If connecting the phone with the battery out, vol down pressed and it still doesn't change into the flash mode you can be sure the usb is dead. (provided the cable is 100% working)
it looks like that might work.
Do you know if Q is older than R and if my phone will auto-update to R?
Status update:
* Manually installed CWM using terminal
* Followed Kag's link and installed that ROM
Rom appears to be fully stock, but I'm not getting an OTA update to v20r.
I need to be on r because q was never officially released, at least not in my country so my phone should not have it.
Any ideas for getting it updated?

I used those links to flash 10a.
But it still says no OTA updates are available.
Could it be due to CWM?

That should be due to LG server's load . Guess u could wait for it to appear, eventually, or just create a new 20R.
It looks like it's blocked on the software level and will only let you check once ever X period?
Its telling me that there is no update available without even trying to connect, the answer comes so fast.
Yes...i believe i once read about that somewhere in here.
Which baseband are you on now?
218
Thats a bugger..sorry .Dont think theres another way to update bb except from flashing.
About OTA ,doesnt work for any country.
Ill b checking on this one though as it interests me too.

Wifi Connection Issue .108 + .118

So as Im sure everyone here knows, new firmware updates have rolled out...
For some odd reason, though, I cannot enjoy them. I came from iHackers 4.1 ROM and attempted to update to the Criskelo .118 ROM. All went okay, except the wifi kept saying "turning on."
Then, amongst other problems, I tried to go to just a stock .108 by downgrading... Still, "turning on wifi."
I'm not sure if there is any relevance, but I had Phil/TWRP dual recovery installed. The Criskelo ROM instructions said I had to have CWM if on a locked bootloader, but I am unlocked. Perhaps I misunderstood and it has to be CWM for both? I did notice that despite many efforts to get my dual recovery back, I was stuck with CWM (I did get dual back though eventually).
So could the problem have been with the conflicting recoveries? And perhaps it didn't install the kernel or ROM properly?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

The recovery has nothing to do with the functionality of wifi or anything in the ROM for that matter. Did you do a full wipe before installing the Criskelo ROM?
Other than that, make sure you're using the right baseband for .118. (if it even has changed)
If that all fails, make a backup of everything on your phone (also your internal 'sdcard') and do a full re-install of the official .118 ROM using flashtool.

Yup, I made sure to do a full wipe before I installed it. I did do a backup of my internal and external SD cards just in case something managed to go wrong somehow... Im pretty sure I used the correct baseband, but I will double-check and also try your suggested method using flashtool. I'll let you know how it goes, and thanks for the response!

You had better bring your phone to the service if you don't want WiFi module dies.
Forgive me for asking, but what would be wrong with the module? Wouldn't it not work at all of that were the case? It's working right now...

Alright so it's definitely not the module. I just flashed PAC's 4.4.4 Beta ROM. The wifi successfully turns on and I am able to view networks, as well as connect to them. So why then, can I not seem to get wifi working on stock based 4.4.4 or .108/.118 ROMs? Any ideas?

The new Video Update is kind of buggy atm, you can always downgrade by downloading the APK online and assuming you guys have Root access you can push it to system/priv-app/ and give rw-r-r permissions. Or you could uninstall the update in Settings>Apps therefore restoring the App to its factory version
New update doesn't change anything but name so downgrading won't hurt unless you prefer the name "Video" instead of "Movies"
I have the exact same problem gifs on relay for reddit also stop playing, a reboot fixes it temporarily but it always comes back, would love to know a permenant solution. Latest rooted stock.

Thank you for the answer! I've installed a debloated version of the firmware. So I can't see Video app listed in the menu. Which is the exact name I should see in Setting->Apps?
Did this work and if so, what version did you use? Thanks.

I tried to push a couple of old versions to the system but after a couple of hours or a day later the problem came back. Does anyone have an idea what the culprit could be. Kernel maybe? Tried flashing other roms to no avail. Now I'm on 5.1.1 stock slim version. I have an unlocked bootloader btw without drm keys. (which I lost because i'm the stupid noob who didn't check his backup...)Anyone ideas?

As far as is know the problem started with the stock kernel. I then flashed this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/d5803-23-2-1-62-slim-t3127115 and the Advanced kernel. Anyway, i will flash the stock kernel just to be sure. If that doesn't change anything can i try to restore it with Sony Companion and start over?

I figured that much.. It's a weird problem. It got me thinking it maybe hardware related. I will try the kernel end the restore and if it doesn't work i just have to live with it. Thank you very much for the help.
Sorry to revive this older thread, but did you find a solution to the issue? I am experiencing the very same problem on my Z2 phone with stock ROM + unlocked bootloader and root. I was suspecting a HW issue (maybe combined with unlocked BL), but there were few other users with same issue. I am going to place an order for Z3 compact and would hate to face the annoying "camera not available" or "video can't be played" messages again.

Note 5 Reboot and All apps crashing

Dears, thank you all for your efforts in making this website the best ever.
I just bought a new Note 5 (N920C) couple of weeks ago, and suddenly it went crazy!!
All apps began to crash and the phone reboots million times.
I tried all means of wiping, recovery, i even reinstalled the stock firmware, changed kernels, still the same problem, (latest kernel is SpaceX-Kernel-v0.1_N920C(official) still no use.
Now the thing is my knox counter is up by 1, and the warranty is void. :crying: any way i can reset it to send it back to samsung, or if there anyways to fix it it would be better as they will take two weeks min to repair it.

can you enter download mode??? (down+mid button+power)
if so i can recommend a couple of issues;
1) enter download mode and by using odin download the factory rom from sammobile.com... Select your country (turkey?) and find the appropriate rom there
2) flash the phone
3) with the same mode connect to pc and by using smart switch try to update the firmware (There is an update if i am not mistaken)
4) see what happens
good luck

knox is a software and hardware based fuse if it gets tripped there is no going back.. Even the great developer chainfire (mastermind behind flashfire, cf auto root and supersu) confirmed that knox counter cannot be reverted back..
I upgraded to OJD yesterday, same issue, almost all apps have sopped working, I fixed this with re-install kernel and wipe cache in recovery, not sure which one is the correct solution, just try this, thanks.

Help with custom rom

Good night. Has anyone noticed the flashing of the cell network signal when using custom ROM? Sometimes even the signal disappears completely as if it did not have a chip and does not give a network being that return the operation just by restarting. If someone has already experienced this and has the solution, please report it. I have already used all the customs for the x4 bike and they all stay that way.
appreciate
What custom ROM are you using?
How did you install it?
Did you use the partitions zip before installing the ROM?

Ok; you're steps appear correct.
A thought occurred to me and this is easier to do than anything else.
Are you having any issue with the SIM card?
Is it making good contact?
Are you using Google Fi by chance?

Payton PPW29.69-26. I already used itnup tobGoogle FI, but the problem came up.
I suggest trying one of the solutions here: https://www.technobezz.com/fix-no-signal-android/
They recommend to first restore your phone to stock, make sure you get the right variant.
Just try to flash another radio (modem) . I had similar issues with RETBR modem ) Now I`m using FI modem and everything is OK (Havoc 2.1 ROM)
