HTC One M7 T-Mobile Soft Brick - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
My friend gave me his HTC One M7 to fix, but I have run out of options. So here's his story: He has the HTC One M7 GSM model which has unlocked bootloader, S-ON,Twerp installed and no OS installed.
HBoot-1.55.000
OS-3.24.531.3
I have tried to first gain S-OFF and use the RUU to get back to stock but the device doesn't appear in CMD when using "adb devices" prompt. I can't enable USB debugging since there is no OS installed for adb to work. Also, I went it into TWERP, but the data cannot be mounted so I can't ADB sideload it nor can I fix the problem by using adb by updating TWERP which helped on my other HTC device.
Is there a way I can make the adb to work? I have already tried using different ports on my laptop but it doesn't work. Or is there a way to use the RUU with S-ON?
Thanks

Is adb enabled
Have you tried different ports
Different cords
Are drivers installed?

Are you going thru the dev site ? Or tool kit ?
Make sure you have the HTC Drivers installed, and if so, make sure that you have the HTC Sync client on your computer closed. ADB and the RUU won't work if the HTC SYnc thing is running.
If you have adb, you can check to make sure your phone is properly connected by typing "adb devices". If you're connected, it will spit out your device model number.

[Q] Messed up HTC One M7;( NEED HELP

Hi all
I just got a new 32GB HTC One and have already destroyed it and really need help. Basically I have been rooting and installing custom ROMs my previous phones and they have been brilliant so I thought I would do the same to this one so I did and well...messed it up.
PROBLEM INFO
I have not got a backup image of the stock ROM, I kept it on the phone and it has got deleted when I formatted it. -- stupid I know
I turned S OFF and installed TWRP but when I installed the custom ROM the phone would not boot, it was stuck on the HTC screen and when I tried to access TWRP to reinstall, format, or even access the storage of the phone, the handset would switch off and restart.
So spending all day looking on forums I have finally given up and don't know what to do:crying:. I have tried to look for an RUU to match my phone but cannot seem to find one. I have relocked the bootloader as well (don't know if this is good or bad) and don't think I can unlock it unless you guys know, there is also a security warning on screen.

Thanks for your time.
Sad to say that, but doing s-on on 1.54 was endless stupid.
Maybe fonfuneshop will s-off your phone, than you are good to go.

Too bad your s-off....You can still fix this though! Unlock your boot loader again, and then boot to boot loader. Use hasoon2000 s toolkit to reflash the recovery (or your own method.) then, use start an adb side load in TWRP, and side load a rom from your computer (arhd, stock, etc.) you should be good from here. It may be impossible for you to return to stock because you're s on on 1.54 and there is no stock ruu available. What version of the htc one do you have?

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have just unlocked the Bootloader now via HTC Dev site. I can now access ClockworMod Recovery, on the recovery I go onto "ADB Sideload", then on the toolkit "ADB Sideload a ROM" option but get an error message: "device not found" (see screenshot), also in Device Manager "One" reports no drivers but I have installed HTC Sync Manager 2.1.77.0, I have also uninstalled all HTC software and reinstalled but still get this error.
Any ideas how to get passed this?
Thanks once again

You could try one of the other recoveries for the One TWRP or Philz Touch 5 and see if you can mount the USB storage in there then copy the appropriate ROM you want to install on the phone and flash it in recovery. If all else fails you should be able to upload the ROM file using adb and then flash in recovery.

It appears the computer isn't able to correctly identify the adb interface....make sure HTC sync manager is completely uninstalled first. Search on xda for the HTC one drivers without HTC sync (it should be version 4.1 or something

Right, I have put TWRP recovery back on but it was not mounting as a storage devive. I was getting "E Cannot Mount" message every time I tried to do anything and there was no file sizes showing. I have searched for this issue and saw a lot of people with the same issue.

However I formatted the phone using TWRP and then restarted the phone back into recovery and file sizes were showing and Hasoon2000's Tool was able to connect to the handset via "ADB Sideload a Rom" option. I have pushed ViperOne_2.7.0 ROM onto my HTC One.
It was taken all day and a lot of time but finally got it to work, I don't think Ill be messing about with ROMS on this phone any time soon
Like to say thanks to all who helped.:cyclops:

Need help please: windows won't recognize 1.54 bootloader

After a lot of reading and some trial and error I was finally able to get S-OFF on my Bell (Canada) unlocked HTC One using the universal 0.45 rumrunner. I wanted to change my phone into the Google Edition so I followed the guide and everything went well but I missed the part about flashing the RUU twice and once I got that failed error I assumed it hadn't worked and I manually rebooted the phone. When I booted back into bootloader my phone was on 1.54.0000 instead of 1.55.0000 which it had been on before. The problem is that my computer won't recognize the phone in 1.54 bootloader so i can run my adb commands. I know the drivers are installed properly because it recognizes it when the phone is booted up normally and my adb commands work and I can reboot the bootloader from there but once it goes into the bootloader I can't get it to recognize the device. For reference this is on a windows 8.1 laptop, I also tried on a windows 7 desktop and an older windows 7 laptop with the same results. Is the issue with the HTC drivers not compatible with newer versions of windows? Or do I need to try to find an older version of the drivers that are compatible with the 1.54 bootloader? Or is it something else? Any help to steer me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Once I can get the bootloader recognized I can flash the RUU again and everything should be good to go.

USB Bricked...:(

Ok So I've done the most stupidest thing and managed to fudge things up! Any help appreciated! Thanks.
I want to get back to stock RUU. For a UK unbranded device. The phone has S-Off, unlocked bootloader and rooted.
It isn't being recognised by my PC (windows 8.1), not using a USB 3.0 port.
HBOOT 1.54.
Don't know if anyone needs any more information. Any help is welcome! Thanks

1- fix your adb/fastboot, here's one thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256359 , but plenty of others around so search & google are your friends
2- follow my guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
I could access fastboot USB before. But then I tried to flash "RUU-HTC_One_GE-3.06.1700.10_Rooted" and things went downhill.
Its not a USB 3.0 problem, as I'm not using USB 3.0. I think the RUU I (tried) flashing has messed things up a bit.
I get this when I try "adb devices"
c:\sdk-tools>fastboot devices
c:\sdk-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
"fastboot devices" returns nothing.
put your device in bootloader mode, that way the fastboot will see it. I think you do that by holding power and vol down button..

As far as I know HTC one and fastboot don't work with windows 8.1 we need to wait for updated drivers

So I can get into boot loader. But my phone isn't being recognised as connected to USB.
I have been able to connect to fastboot on Windows 8.1 until I tried flashing that RUU.

Restore to Stock

I have a (sprint) H/K edition M8 running 4.4.2 rooted with TWRP recovery, s-on with 1.54.654.13 & SPCS-004. I wish to return to stock to get the Lollipop update and then return to root. Im at a loss as to what to do please help any advice is appreciated.
Check out the thread in the link below. Use the RUU for the HK Lollipop update. You'll need to relock your bootloader before running the RUU. After running the RUU you'll need to unlock your bootloader and reinstall TWRP. You can then flash a ROM.

Connect your phone to your computer. Run the command fastboot oem lock. That will relock your bootloader.
My adb isnt recognizing my phone, have the stock google drivers & htc drivers installed and ive tried with my phone both powered on and in fastboot. I believe there might be a driver issue but im not really sure

Try this to get the drivers sorted.
Ive already had that installed idk what could be going on
Not to hijack the thread but how do I put it back to 100% stock so I can do a warranty return? I am mostly talking about how to remove s-off. I figure I need to have it back to s-on to do the warranty return.

You have to make sure you install the drivers in recovery, bootloader, and OS
ADB = OS and recovery
Fastboot = hboot/fastbootusb.
The waiting for device might be that you are not in fastbootusb
bootloader says RELOCKED, attempting to run RUU...
successful update, thanks for the help guys. Is there any way to get my on screen buttons changed to the new shape and to root again?

You can install TWRP and root just like you were on any other update. Android version does not matter. Just make sure you unlock the bootloader again, you can use the same unlock token from HTC dev. Then you want to install recovery
Code:
fasboot flash recovery recovery.img
After that, from fastboot, boot into recovery and then reboot system. If you use a newer TWRP it will prompt you to install superSU.
