The other day I switched over to Straight Talk. I used stump root shortly after so I could use the hotspot fix to use wifi tethering. I never got it to work but was a to some 3g tethering with barnacle. My phone stopped getting 4g though and even when I put my Verizon Sim in it I get nothing but 3g. I've changed the network setting from global to lte/CDMA but nothing works. Do I need to factory reset? Very new to rooting.

Just an info for people having problems with T-mobile 4G --> 4G LTE new roll-out.
The APN settings needs to be updated to: fast.t-mobile.com
I have wasted a better part of this morning to figure this out after the "upgrade" here in Houston...
FIX for no data on Atrix HD on T-Mobile
I want to add what I also found out, after 3 days without data:
Device:
Atrix HD (MB886), factory unlocked, Original ATT Motorola ROM, JB 4.2.1, rooted (by the Ubuntu method). I have the device for a month and it works perfectly on T-Mobile.
Area:
Washington DC/Maryland area
Symptom:
Until 2 days ago 4g worked everywhere, great speed, faster than my Samsung Blaze.
Two days ago, in some areas I still had perfect data (4g). Other areas (changing cell towers), data connection disappeared. Phone and SMS worked normally but no data at all (no 2g, 3g, 4g, nothing!). 4g kept trying to connect from time to time if I forced it; data would work for a few seconds and than stopped. So, some areas the data worked perfectly, other areas there was no data at all.
Solution:
I found 2 solutions:
1- The right one, change the APN as posted above.
2- Download LTE Settings (Ryo Ueashima) from Play store; go to “Set Preferred Network type” change to GSM/CDMA auto (PRL). This fixed the problem without changing the APN.
I hope this info gets out fast over the internet so everyone can understand what happened with T-mobile changes to LTE, and fix it. I was about to get read of the Atrix HD…
Confirm, it'll work on old forced 4G settings, I have tried that too. Just make sure you get "4G LTE" icon, not just 4G as a result...
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
no 4g issues
I have an unlocked AHD on T-mobile, and have no issue getting 4g hspa+:15 granted there is no such thing as LTE in my area

Cool thanks for the heads up on the app. It opens what you normally could dialing *#*#4636#*#* on most other phones..
Has anyone had an issue or have any clue why my Droid 4 completely stopped accesing the 4G network? I haven't downloaded anything recently and it's been doing it for about a week. 3G connects fine everywhere but it's like the phone doesn't even have 4G capability anymore. I've been in over 5 different cities with 4G and where I previously got 4G service and again it will only look for 3G. It's the latest Android O.S. completely updated and on the Verizon Network. The phone was rooted.
After troubleshooting with Verizon's folks they replaced my sim card and then did a hard reset of my phone both to no avail. Still connects 3G everywhere fine but no 4G anywhere.
This is driving me crazy because there's seemingly no explanation for why this happened. Is it feasible that its ability to get 4G just stopped for no reason?
Any comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated... I've had this phone for over a year and a half and I love it...:crying:
Perhaps you changed the network mode to only GSM?
I use AT&T note 3 on t-mobile. 4.4.2 official AT&T kitkat rom. Rooted (couldn't get hotspot working without root)
I don't think there's a way to flash T-Mobile rom on my phone, but wonder if there's a way to get volte to work on this phone on t-mobile.
Do I need to wait until AT&T sends out volte update and will it work with T-Mobile? Is there a chance I won't be able to root\use hotspot after such update?
Can I tweak anything to make it work?
Currently, when I get a call while hotspot is on, network switches to 4G and never switches back to LTE until the hotspot is turned off... and the only way to get around this issue is to forward calls (or switch hotspot off and then back on)
I know T-Mobile is pushing out volte and people on xda say it works in my area.
Thanks
I noticed if I go to the mobile networking settings and have it it on lte/3g if I leave a 4g area, 3g works ok. If I put the toggle specifically on 3g it shows I have 3g, but anytime I tried to search google or access a data connection the signal goes away and gives me the signal with an exclamation point. I tried finding info on this, but didn't see anything when I searched. Anyone else have this issue? I am on Sprint with the 64gb white device. Thanks
I leave mine on 3g due to the lame multiple text issue. It has no problem staying on 3g. Perhaps try updating your PRL/profile and see if that helps.
I don't have 3g either if I set it to 3g only. I don't leave lte service too often to test whether 3g works when it switches on its own. I may have to make a trip to the mountains to test it. I do know that my old Note 2 would loose lte after flashing tons over and over and I would have to flash back to 100% stock the factory reset from the settings app to fix it. I may try this with my Nexus, about time for a wipe anyway.
Factory reset does not fix it. Just noticed that I don't even get 3g when it is set on LTE. I'm gonna go talk to my cellular provider about it.
I don't know why it wouldn't work. You did update profile and PRL also right? Here's some shots of mine and it's working fine.
I have a bad Sim.....I also don't have a phone number as well..... I swiped with an old card I had and my number appeared, I guess I'll be visiting the store tomorrow to get a new one. Maybe it'll fix my 3g. Its also not wanting to let me pick 3g as an option now, just stays on LTE.
KB112 - Are you on sprint also? I updated prl/profile and no luck still. 3g still works if I am on lte and go into a 3g zone, but if I toggle it to 3g only I get no data. Wondering if its a sprint thing or a lollipop bug on Sprint, or a bad sim, missing feature activation.
Bluemgt06 - did a new sim fix it for you?
Sorry, didn't see this earlier. But yes, I am on Sprint. My 3G would work fine if I set to 3G only. Not sure why yours has issues with this?
Oddly I tried it today and it started working. I think it could have been some kind of issue with the tower/upgrades or a bug that a reset may fix on occasion perhaps.
So I successfully got Twi5ted Lollipop on my Galaxy S5 Active G870A yesterday, everything is working perfectly fine except one thhing: my DATA. My phone is ATT and I have cricket wireless. I normally get 4G LTE, but after getting Twi5ted Lollipop, my phone doesn't even think it's ATT anymore. I can make calls with my cricket number, but I get no data. I tried going into Mobile Networks and changing Network Operators to manual and then changing it to ATT, but that doesn't seem to work. When I go into Data Usage, it has a "UPGRADE DATA SERVICE" button that takes me to a T-MOBILE website. Any ideas what to do?
FIXED thanks to captivated1971
